~ CXIV: The Nameless Son ~
Ithilien, Tenth Year of the Fourth Age (FA), December 1st
She embraced storms as though the gusts were rocket fuel and the rain her best friend. While some were meant to provide shelter or to provide refuge for others, she was destined to tame what no one else could. The sky's splendour was obscured by grey clouds, and the moon could not escape the storm that had been unleashed. She had spent the night with Legolas, who was experiencing a nightmare. Xena was well aware that the elf was never completely cured of his own terrors. It distressed her to see what Legolas endured to stay in Middle-earth.
The elf leapt from their bed with a scream that resonated around the chamber. He completely awoke and became aware of an additional presence in the room. It did not take him long to get his knife and threaten the individual standing next to him. Both parties seemed nervous, while the other was as swift in action and drew her own blade as metal clashed against metal. Xena attempted to prevent Legolas from assaulting her after he was rescued from his nightmare.
"Why are you present?" Legolas felt exhausted as his eyes adjusted to the low light and he realised that the person standing in front of him was Xena and not his nightmare's antagonist. "I could have murdered you before recognising you!"
"You may have tried, elf," Xena responded with a harsh tone, while her eyes betrayed her regret at being unable to free Legolas from his dreams. "You forget I have many skills!" she grinned at her companion as she defended herself with her sword.
Legolas turned his head to look at his surroundings, but quickly realised it was a mistake, as he was quick enough to raise his dagger in front of his face to parry Xena's attack. "Rawen!" the elf barked her elfin name before advancing with the assault.
Xena sneered as she evaded his next assault, "You're old enough to know you should never turn your back on your enemy!"
Now that his lover had had his undivided attention, Legolas was enthused and the nightmare was forgotten. He grabbed up his second knife, ducked to escape another strike, and touched her arm twice, just escaping inflicting a minor cut. "You forget who I am?" Legolas fought back with dignity.
Xena stopped his next attack and regarded him with a sardonic grin, saying, "I do recall, elf, how many times I've shown that you are no match for me!"
"You may need to remind me once again," Legolas murmured as he intercepted the hit that Xena was about to deliver to his shoulder. "Because I do not recall!"
"However, do not complain that I did not warn you, elf!" Xena laughed and flipped to dodge one more of his assaults, a few more followed, and after a few seconds of stroke swordplay, she moved forward, leading Legolas to lose his footing and fall onto his back against the bed as he attempted to avoid landing a devastating blow.
"You almost caused me to hurt you, you fool!" Legolas battled and worriedly regarded her as he let his two blades fall to the bed.
The battle had ceased, and Xena chuckled as she hovered over him, drew near, and put her own sword next to his. She then moved between his knees and used her leg to separate them enough for her to mount him. Before long, she was leaning in and running kisses down his neck while carefully attempting to remove his robe. Xena's lips quickly met his, and she kissed him passionately while running her fingers in his ear, causing the elf to tremble under her.
"Stop this... please!" Legolas begged, and the warrior smirked wickedly and remained in that position, stealing more of his kisses. It was not long before she had stripped him of his robe and was sitting on his lap, with the elf falling into such a state of arousal from her scent that he desired to be completely seduced by her. "You have won!" Legolas pleaded with her for compassion.
Xena smiled, stepped aside to give Legolas room, and saw that he was no longer in his nightmare. Xena said, "Since I have won, I shall liberate you, my prince,". She was about to rise up and go when she felt his arms wrap around her and draw her body into his.
Legolas mumbled, "Two can play this game," as he ran his fingers through her robes and began untying ribbons, wondering why she constantly tied her robes with so many threads. Did she intend to make his life so challenging? Before long, they were both completely exposed throughout the stormy night.
It did not take long until Legolas flipped her over and landed on top of her, his enticing grey eyes pinned against her blue. The elf grinned, and he was now the one stealing kisses from the princess; his finger travelled over her body, and he was unable to stop stroking or kissing his beloved.
Xena was now sleeping in Legolas' arms, with his fingers entangled in her long, dark hair. The storm had finally subsided, and the couple's nighttime rendezvous had concluded. She closed her eyes, savouring the sensation of his touch on her hair. No one wanted to spoil the moment, so they stayed in this position for as long as possible.
Legolas looked at the door and signalled that he would open it despite the moment being abruptly interrupted by a faint tap on the door. They managed to draw up their robes and seem as respectable as possible. Their firstborn was standing at the door and knocking, requesting entry. Legolas grinned and bent down to pick up his son with ease before returning to bed with him.
"Grandfather and Nienna were once again disputing over my name," the boy complained as he sat between his parents. "I've decided I need a name!"
Legolas nodded as he waited to hear what more their firstborn had to say, and Xena glared at Legolas. They had avoided naming the child, but as he grew older and developed his own personality, he could no longer remain unnamed. And he was tired of Thranduil's frequent appearances with a lengthy list of names.
"At first, he planned to call me Edenion, but then he changed it to Hellëenil, because he thought Grandfather Elrond would appreciate it."
Legolas grinned and moved closer to his son "Edenion, A new son. That doesn't seem too terrible. Neither does the friend of the sky. But have you discovered any names you like on these lengthy lists?"
Their youngster smiled and nodded, demonstrating for the first time interest in a name. There were so many disagreements over his name that his parents decided he would select it himself so that everyone would be happy. He gazed at Legolas and Xena with the intent of informing them of his choice.
Xena ended up sitting up and closely hugging him. "Tell us, what is your choice?" she inquired in a quiet voice, anticipating his response. And by the gods, she desired for him to finally have a name since it was getting more difficult to call him.
"Gabriel," the child said, drawing the immediate attention of both parents. "Mother has already told us several stories about herself and Gabrielle. She was the most reliable friend from another universe, and you informed me that Gabrielle is a natural name that could also be given to a male. My name is Gabriel!"
Legolas smiled and leaned in close, drawing them both into a tight embrace. "Gabriel seems like the proper name," Legolas remarked. "I'm sure your mother already loves it."
Xena was dumbfounded as she clutched her son more tightly and regarded Legolas with disbelief. She used to tell her children tales about their world as well as the one she formerly inhabited, but she had no idea that her son would choose to be called Gabriel after her most trusted friend. "Gabriel is a beautiful name, son," Xena agreed, attempting to conceal her emotional state.
Gabriel rolled his eyes and glared at his father, saying, "You were meant to be envious right now, father." He crossed his arms and let his parents embrace him.
"That I am, son!" Legolas confessed and concealed a grin that only Xena could see "But maybe you should now go tell your grandpa your name. And inform him that you have our blessing."
The youngster grinned, kissed both parents on the cheeks, and then ran around the room searching for Thranduil to call his name. Legolas and Xena stayed in their chamber while hearing Thranduil's laments across Ithilien. The Elvenking quickly appeared in their bedroom with their kid, demanding answers.
"Why does he have the name, Gabriel?" The Elvenking questioned as he displayed the announcement inside their chamber. "What exactly does that name mean?"
"With Gabriel's selection of his name, the story ends!" Xena exclaimed louder than before that she did not want to dispute with Thranduil one more night. "We approve the name since he loves it!"
"Legolas, please inform your wife that she cannot name her son after an alien friend with a feminine name!" Thranduil's words boomed across Ithilien's halls.
"I regret that I cannot assist you, father! Gabrielle is a highly distinctive name, and it seems to have significance to Xena." Legolas remarked as he moved up to his child, grabbed him up, and stepped out of his bedroom so that he would not have to hear his father whine any longer.
"I will name the next one," Thranduil vowed to her.
Xena smiled as she saw him leave their room and said, "You may try," but she hesitated and stared confusedly as she wondered whether there would be one more kid. During those ten years, they had already had four children. She would not accept another one. She eventually raced after Thranduil and asked him if he knew anything she did not.
