A/N: This is it guys. This is the end.

Edward

I had my eyes screwed shut as the screams and grunts started up again, trying to block out the mental images they were experiencing.

Jasper and Ivy had been staying with us in Forks for several weeks now and most of their day was spent with Ivy's family and I was glad to see everything seemed to be working out for her. But their nights…Their nights were always like this.

The screams were rising in pitch and getting faster. I knew we didn't need rest but really, this seemed excessive to me. All damn night? Most of the time Bella, Renesmee and I would spend the night at our cottage. I didn't want my daughter exposed to this wantonness, especially with the way she sometimes looked at Jacob and the thoughts that she tried to hide from me. She was growing so fast. Too fast for my liking.

The shrieking upstairs hit a fever pitch and Ivy screaming the words 'Fuck, Major' and I heard the groan of wood and the eventual splintering of yet another piece of furniture. It was probably the desk. There wasn't much left in their room to break.

I heard the gravel crunch as a vehicle pulled up to our house and a delivery man left a package at the front door, ringing the bell and driving off again.

I was startled to see Ivy race down the stairs in nothing but one of Jasper's button downs. She got the package from outside and tore it open once she had re-entered the foyer.

Finally! The restraints! she thought and took off back upstairs.

"You've been such a naughty boy, Major Whitlock. I'll have to punish you for insubordination," Ivy purred and I took that as my cue to get the hell out of there and take my family with me.

Over the next few months, life went on as normally as a coven of vampire's lives could. Jasper and Ivy were still attached to each other every chance they got. On top of that, the nighttime activities of Carlisle and Esme and Emmett and Rosalie only made this house completely unsuitable for my daughter's tender sensibilities. I made sure we only visited during the day but even then… Normally, my father, mother, brother and sister were more discreet but when Jasper was projecting, his influence was unstoppable. Even I got riled up if I got too close.

Grudgingly, I had to admit that I had taken Emmett and Jasper's advice when they thought about their mates. If I couldn't help seeing their sex lives, I might as well learn something while I was at it. And learn I did. I had definitely pleased my wife with some of the techniques I had seen.

Most of the time, I invited Alice to stay with us. I felt bad for her as I understood her position. For a long time, I was the only single vampire in the coven. She hid her thoughts well enough but I knew she didn't particularly like Ivy. She had only recently stopped pining over Jasper but I couldn't help think she had done this to herself. When she had accused him of eventually cheating on her, I realized that those of us with abilities tended to rely on them too heavily. Alice had allowed her vision to decide her destiny, instead of using it to make her own choices.

My family and I were at the main house for a while. Jasper and Ivy were, mercifully, sitting together quietly, sharing a blanket draped over their laps despite not needing it. Ivy was doing a crossword, leaning against Jasper who was reading a novel. It was touchingly domestic.

Alice walked in with us and I felt the tension that always simmered just below the surface when she and Jasper and Ivy were in the same room. Jasper noticed her presence first and nudged Ivy. Ivy looked up and I heard her think Okay, here's the olive branch.

"Alice?" Ivy called.

Alice looked surprised at being addressed. They didn't ever talk.

"I was going into town to go buy some jeans and t-shirts as it works better for me when Jasper and I move back to Texas but I have so many things I won't really wear anymore and I thought you might like to have them? You might need to tailor them but anyway, there in my closet if you want to go through it."

"Why would I want your hand-me downs?" Alice asked but kept the tone disinterested. I could hear her offended thoughts.

"I just thought you might like to look through Balenciaga, Valentino and Dolce & Gabbana's newest offerings until next season's line comes out?" Ivy hid a smirk.

Alice's eyes lit up. "You have all of those designer clothes and you're wearing that?" she indicated Ivy's attire consisting of an old shirt of Jaspers and some sweatpants that used to belong to Rose.

Ivy shrugged, not caring. "Demetri bought most of it for me. It works in Volterra but not so much in the laid-back south. Like I said, it's all yours if you want it."

Alice sprang forward and gave Ivy an awkward hug and screamed a thank you as she ran up the stairs to raid Ivy's closet. I could hear her excited mental chattering and awe at every new item she pulled out. Ivy just smiled and went back to her crossword. I hid a smile and sat to play the piano while Renesmee painted Bella's nails a garish bubble-gum pink.

Life was good.

Ivy

Jasper and I had headed home to Texas. I was surprise to already consider it my home when I hadn't even lived there for a month. To be fair, my true home was anywhere Jasper was but there was just something that felt right when I was at that house.

Rosalie had been kind enough to check Jasper's truck to make sure all was running optimally. We had loaded it with all of our possessions and driven home. I went to put away my clothes and saw that the bars of the brass headboard were hopelessly warped. I made a mental note to order a new frame with reinforced steel or something that might stand up better to our lovemaking. I was shocked by how much I constantly craved my mate and he craved me. It was almost a problem when we tried to focus on something else. Almost. I grinned, just thinking about all the things we had done and all the things we had yet to attempt. We had the time to do anything and everything we wanted.

Jasper had joined me to put some of his clothes away and we didn't get very far.

I lay draped across Jasper's chest, utterly sated for the time being. He had one hand rubbing my back and was drawing shapes on my hip with his other. I raked my own fingers through his magnificent golden mane, marveling at the fact that I could touch it whenever I wanted.

"Have I told you that only Whitlocks have ever lived here?" he asked and he felt…it wasn't obvious what he was feeling. I tried and failed to name it.

"You did mention it when I toured the house the first time you brought me here," I told him.

"I'd like to keep that tradition. Ivy Rebecca Donovan, would you do me the honour of becoming a Whitlock?"

I immediately propped myself up to look down on his face. His smile was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.

"Are you proposing?" I asked, mouth agape.

"I believe I am, ma'am," he kept the smile on his face and I was stunned. I shouldn't have been really. We both knew we'd spend eternity together.

"Jasper Whitlock, I was yours since the day I first sat behind you in biology back in the ninth grade," I told him and pummeled him with love.

That brass bed never stood a chance.

Epilogue – Ivy

I sighed, totally complete with Jasper's arms wrapped around me laying in our bed with the sunshine bathing us in golden light reflecting off our own glittering skin.

We were currently vacationing alone on Isle Esme for our fiftieth wedding anniversary, courtesy of Carlisle. It was hard to believe we had been married for fifty years. We should have been old and grey. Or in Jasper's case, long dead and turned to dust. Instead, we he was still 19 and I was 20.

My parent's had died several years ago. My mom was taken by heart disease and my father followed soon after from natural causes in his sleep. It saddened me every time I thought of them but chose to remember the good times as best as I could from my human memories as well as all the new ones since Jasper and I had reconciled with them. Once they saw how happy Jasper and I were, and the fact that they believed he had been the reason I came home, they had absolutely adored him.

Lily, now sixty, was a grandmother of three, having had two children of her own. We kept in touch, mostly through phone calls. I had watched her grow up until my non-aging was becoming apparent. I told her Jasper and I were leaving to travel the world. It was true. We had seen nearly every country already and made plans to go back to our favourite places.

I recalled my last in-person conversation with my sister.

"Munchkin!" I called to her as I entered my parent's house. Lily had inherited it after their death.

Lily came bounding down the stairs, a young woman in her 20s. I should have been in my thirties but it was stretching the realm of believability.

"God, Ivy. I'm 23. I'm not a munchkin!" she laughed and I stared at just how beautiful she had become. She was always a pretty kid but now she was a real beauty.

"You'll always be a munchkin to me," I ruffled her hair and she ducked away to escape back to her room. I followed her.

"I have to get ready for my date with Felix," she said, disappearing into her closet.

When she had told me she was dating a guy named Felix I nearly had a heart attack had my heart been beating. I had called the Volturi to scream at Felix until he cut me off saying he'd never so much as seen my sister. I had apologized and he forgave me. It helped that we had already been friends.

"Lily," I hesitated, not sure how to tell her what I needed to, "Jasper and I are leaving for a long while."

My sister reappeared clutching a blouse and frowned.

"Will you be coming back?" she asked. I didn't know how to answer.

"We will but we're going to travel the world so I don't know when that might be," I told her cautiously.

She sighed, tossing the shirt on her bed. I went to sit beside her.

"I know you're not human," she said quietly. I wasn't surprised. Obviously, she had noticed all the oddities about my and my mate. Luckily, she didn't know exactly what we were.

"You almost look like my younger sister," she continued softly. "I'm okay with it and I understand why you need to leave but I'm going to miss you so much."

She leaned in to hug me and I hugged her back for a long while.

"Will you be there when I get married?" she asked, putting on a brave face.

"As if I would miss that! But I won't be able to let anyone else see me." I told her.

"I know. I just wish things could be different. I would have made you my maid of honour," she gave me a smile.

"Just the confirmation is honour enough," I told her sincerely.

"God, I'm going to miss you," she sighed, hugging me tighter.

I pulled away, placing my hands on her shoulders to look at her.

"I swear to you, I will look after your family. Your children, your grandchildren and their children and their children after them. I want you to know that Jasper and I will regard them as our own and protect them if they ever need it. From a distance, obviously."

"Thank you," Lily whispered and I brushed a tear away as it rolled down her cheek. "That's really sweet."

In the end, Lily had told her children about me and my husband and they had told their children. I was sure that soon, Jasper and I would become a family legend but I had kept to my oath to watch over them.

True to my word, I had seen Lily at her wedding in a quiet moment at the reception. She had married Felix, a truly good man, and I couldn't have been happier for her. She had requested I play her wedding march so I recorded it for her to use. She said it was like having me with her.

I had also kept in touch with Lisa and Kelly who eventually forgave me for disappearing. I was overjoyed to hear Lisa had become a doctor, and an emergency room surgeon at that. Kelly continued to work in child education, eventually becoming head of the schoolboard in Forks. Sadly, we lost touch over time as friends sometimes do but I would forever love them as the best friends I had ever had.

My wedding to Jasper had been a quiet one at the local courthouse in Forks with only my parents and Esme and Carlisle in attendance. The reception included everyone else at the Cullen residence and when Jasper and I left to go back home to Texas, the Cullens and Jacob Black moved away to Montana.

Jasper

Ivy turned over in my arms to face me and I stared into her golden eyes, the same as my own for many decades now. We didn't often need to tell each other how much we loved each other. Our respective gifts were useful and made us closer than most mates could ever hope to be, tough we did sometimes need to talk to explain whatever it was we were feeling.

My mate and I had returned to Volterra many times after our marriage. I knew how much she cared for her friends with the Volturi, and especially how much she cared for Demetri.

The first time we went, I had been displeased with how excited she was to see him again but when they had finally reunited and embraced, I knew there was no reason for ill will. Their feelings were entirely those of friendship. Demetri had introduced us to his mate, Laura. She had been a nomad and a friend of Carlisle's. She had ended up joining the Elite Guard with Demetri due to her gift of telekinesis. It was useful to the kings to have her move an enemy away or hurl things at an opponent. She gave us quite a demonstration, throwing anything at hand at others in the training room, mostly aiming for Demetri with a feral grin on her beautiful face. He always managed to dodge them until they came back as if they were magnetized to him. Laura would only relent when she felt she had attacked him enough or if he managed to get close enough to kiss her senseless. It was hilarious.

As she had promised, Ivy brought her Stradivarius with her and played for the kings for hours in the evenings. Though she still practiced three hours every day, I never tired of listening to her or feeling her emotions. They were as pure and strong as ever and I knew just how lucky I was to be able to continue to feel it for eternity. I requested Danse Macabre as often as she would allow. It would always be my favourite as it was the first song I had ever heard her play.

Ivy had done all four years at EAMS, funded by the Volturi while we lived in Seattle. Over the years, she had played in various orchestras all over the world, starting as one of the junior violinists before working up to first violinist until we had to move away again. She didn't mind but was careful not to have her photo taken with the orchestra as someone might eventually notice. Until human cloning became mainstream, we had to be careful. Just like how me and my siblings never had our photos in the yearbook.

I continued to further my education, going to colleges wherever Ivy's current orchestra was based. I had majored in psychology, philosophy, education, medicine, business and even got my pilot's license. I was still debating what area I wanted to specialize in next.

I thought of Edward, Bella and Alice. They were still posing has high school students. I repressed the roll of my eyes, wondering why none of them were trying to cure cancer, instead of retaking high school classes over and over and over. Carlisle probably felt it was too conspicuous to have a 17-year-old genius working in a lab. Who in their right mind would create an emotionally stunted vampire perpetually stuck at 17? And I still couldn't understand why Bella wanted to be the same way. She was turned at 18 and neither she nor Edward had been adults and now they never would be.

Emmett and Rosalie had done the sensible thing and struck out on their own for a while. Last we heard, they were in Budapest and having a blast. I loved how Rose and Ivy had become best friends. I couldn't have imagined a better outcome.

Next to me, Ivy closed her eyes, tucking her head under my chin and pressed her lips to my neck in a sweet kiss. I smiled, knowing she felt my pure happiness and ran my fingers through her hair while cradling her close to me.

There was nothing we could never do. No dream that was unattainable. We would watch the human race succeed and fail and succeed again. The idea of eternity had always frightened me. But now… Now my reason for living was right beside me.

"Jasper?" I heard my mate's muffled voice from my shoulder.

"Yes, Mrs. Whitlock?" I asked. I felt the lips pressed to my neck curve into a smile.

"When we get back to the States, can we sneak into the Forks High auditorium?" she asked. I backed away enough to look into her eyes.

"We can do anything you want, Darlin'. But why go there?" I asked, feeling her mischief and seeing it plainly in her sly grin.

"So I can show you all the things I wanted to do to you in the auditorium when we met for the first time."

"God, Sugar," I groaned pulling her all the way on top of me. "You'll be the death of me."

"Then I guess it's a good thing we won't ever die. I wouldn't want you to expire before I've done everything with you and then do it all over again with the Major," her grin was the sexiest fucking thing I had ever seen.

She was mine, I was hers and the world was ours.
