Selene, The Mom Goddess
Chapter 1: To Ithaquack
The transmission was lost. Scrooge was absolutely broken up about. It was only a few hours after Della had taken the Spear of Selene and blasted off into outer space, only to find herself in the midst of a cosmic storm. Scrooge wasted no time, or had any second thoughts about using his entire fortune to fund a search party. However, the first attempt to find her failed, and Scrooge's CEO, Bradford Buzzard, had blocked all funding to this project. All the while, Donald, feeling too angry and ashamed at his uncle, took Della's eggs, and cut all ties with Scrooge. He was on his way to buy a houseboat, when he thought about his own financial woes. How would he take care of his nieces and/or nephews? He had to find a job, but didn't know what to do about the eggs. He then arrived at the docks, "Excuse me? Are there any house boats for sale?" he asked, his voice quacking all the while. But the dock master was able to understand him well enough.
"Well, there is one, but it is a bit of a fixer upper. Come with me," he said, leading Donald through the docks. Donald hoped to get a good deal on the boat, and soon, because he saw a rather nasty looking storm blowing in. They soon arrived at the houseboat in question, and the dock master was not kidding when he said is was a fixer upper. The thing looked like it had seen better days. There were several large holes, both up top, and in the hull, but Donald figured he could patch them up. He would worry about the mechanical stuff later.
"I think I can make it work. A little sprucing up, and it'll be as good as new. What's a fair asking price?" Donald asked, hoping he could afford it.
"Well, seeing as how poor shape this old barge is in, I won't ask more than $100," the dock master replied. Donald was surprised. He had heard house boats, or really, any type of vehicle, was very expensive, so getting this house boat for only $100 was a true deal.
"That'll work," Donald said, as he paid the man, and went to inspect the damages. With the right tools, he could have it all patched up by the end of the week, but knew it would just be a quick fix, and that he would need to get someone to do an overhaul. The wind began to pick up, as Donald saw the storm passing over, "Hmm, better find suitable shelter, and fast," he commented, as he took the stroller with the eggs, and tried to find cover. However, the storm was proving to be the worst he and all of Duckburg had ever seen, and Donald was having trouble keeping a grip on the stroller, but he did his best to keep a hold of it. However, his best wasn't enough, when a particularly powerful gust of wind caused him to loose his grip, and caused the stroller to roll away from him, "NO!" Donald then gave chase. However, he tried over some debris that had blown across the ground. By the time he got back up, he saw to his horror that the stroller had rolled into an empty wooden box, and floated out to sea. Donald was devastated, but not deterred. He dove into the sea, and tried to retrieve the eggs, only to be tossed back by the rough waves.
"Della... I'm so sorry," Donald guiltily lamented, as he buried his face in his hands. He then looked to the boat he had purchased, and knew what he had to do.
A few weeks later,
The box that held the eggs continued to float, until it made ground on a Greek Island. The sound of someone approaching was heard, "Why what's this?" a tall, slender swan woman asked. She had pale brown hair, and wore a blue dress. She went over to investigate, and gasped, seeing a stroller with three eggs inside, "Oh my goodness!" she exclaimed, as she pulled the box onto shore, and tried to get the stroller out, with no luck, seeing it was stuck in the box. Just then, a rather largely built stork in a toga walked by.
"Selene? What manner of salvage is this?" he asked.
"Ah, Storkules, excellent timing. Do you think you can break the wood around this stroller?" Selene asked. Storkules then saw the eggs, and gasped too. He wasted no time in pulling apart the box, freeing the stroller, "Thanks brother. But I'm wondering what these eggs were doing in that box?" she pondered.
"Something might've happened in the mortal world. Perhaps we should keep this a secret from Father?" Storkules suggested. Both of them knew how their father, Zeus, felt about mortals since his last encounter with Scrooge.
"You may be right, but the question is 'how do we keep these a secret'?" Selene asked. They both knew Zeus could sense any happenings on the island.
"For now, you should hide them in your garden. We can seek guidance from the other gods in secret later," Storkules suggested.
"That sounds like a plan," Selene said, as she took the stroller, and pushed it into the temple at the top of the hill. The two of them did their best to sneak through the temple, not wanting to get caught by their father. Thankfully, they were able to arrive at Selene's garden with no trouble, "Now then, let's see about the three of you," she commented, as she summoned a sphere. She saw her old girlfriend, Della, and her brother, and their uncle, all fawning over the eggs, "No way! These are Della's eggs?!" Selene exclaimed.
"Zounds! But what could've happened for them to be separated from Della?" Storkules pondered.
"I don't know, but I will see about heading to Duckburg and talking with Della's brother and uncle about the matter," Selene replied.
"Probably would be best to wait until after Father is asleep before heading to Duckburg," Storkules suggested.
"Good idea," Selene replied, as she carefully rubbed one of the eggs.
