Selene the Mom Goddess

Chapter 2: Donald's Request

Later that night, in the skies over Duckburg,

Selene, with the eggs, was driving her chariot towards Duckburg. She soon saw McDuck Manor over the horizon, but her attention went immediately to the pier, where she saw Donald, repairing an old houseboat, "I'll get information from him, first. Della might be there, too," she commented, as she flew down to the pier, landing in front of the boat.

"What the...!? Selene?!" Donald exclaimed.

"Hey Donald! How's it going?" Selene greeted.

"Honestly? Things have been going from bad to worse in the past few months," Donald replied. This made Selene rather concerned.

"What do you mean?" Selene asked.

"Come inside, and I'll explain," Donald replied. Selene went back to her chariot, and got the eggs, and brought them with her. Donald looked ecstatic upon seeing them, "Della's eggs! How did you...?!"

"I found them washed up on the shore of Ithaquack. Which is one of my questions regarding them; how did that happen?" Selene asked. Donald then proceeded to tell Selene everything, about the Spear of Selene, how Della took it, how Scrooge tried using his entire fortune to try and find her, but failed and had the funding blocked, how Donald was too angry with Scrooge to stick around, and about the storm that carried the eggs off. Selene was shocked and horrified to hear her girlfriend had gone missing in space.

"And that's everything that's happened in the past few months," Donald finished explaining.

"I see. Well, I brought the eggs back, so Della will at least feel at ease they're in the right hands, wherever she is," Selene replied. However, Donald had something else in mind for the eggs.

"Actually, Selene, I want to ask a favor of you, and it's a pretty big deal," Donald replied.

"And that would be?" Selene asked.

"See, I had to use most of my bank account just to fix up this old boat, so I barely have enough money to feed myself, let alone three kids, until I start my new job next week. Could I ask you to take care of the eggs?" Donald asked of the Moon Goddess, who was more surprised.

"But what about...?" Selene was cut off, when Donald raised his hand.

"Della trusts you just as much as she does myself and Uncle Scrooge. I know you're the right person for the job," Donald replied. Selene looked conflicted. She knew her father would be furious about her taking in mortals as her own children, but she didn't want to place more of a burden on Donald than he already has now. Plus, seeing as how they were Della's eggs, she felt a little bit of Della would still be with her. Selene then made up her mind.

"I promise to keep them safe," Selene said.

"That's all I ask of you. Thank you," Donald replied. Selene then gathered the eggs, and brought them out to her chariot.

"Perhaps, someday, you'll see these three again," Selene said, as she placed the eggs carefully onto her chariot, and got on herself.

"Thank you for doing this for me. I'm grateful, and I'm sure Della would be too. Give my regards to Storkules," Donald said.

"Will do. But what should I name them?" Selene asked.

"Della had written down some names, but they seem a bit outlandish, so, how about Huey, Dewey, and Louie?" Donald suggested.

"Well, what were the names?" Selene asked.

"Jet, Turbo, and Rebel," Donald replied.

"Ah, yes, those sound like names Della would giver her kids," Selene commented. With that, Selene took off. Donald caught one last glimpse of the eggs, before going back into his boat.

Back at Ithaquack,

Selene was able to get back into her garden without any unwanted attention, with the eggs in her arms. She then placed them all in a basket she had handy, and wrapped a blanket around them, "There. That should keep you three warm," Selene said. She was walking away, when she heard cracking sounds. She turned to see the eggs were beginning to hatch, "Oh man, I am not ready for this!" Selene exclaimed, as she rushed around, trying to get things ready. Bottles filled with warm milk to feed them, as well as makeshift diapers made from some old, junky rags, each of them red, blue, or green. When she got back, she saw the eggs were all fully hatching, one by one. The ducklings inside each of the eggs cooed and gurgled, looking up at Selene, "Uh... hello there, sweeties," Selene said, as she then diapered each of them, and pulled them out of the shells. She then gave them each a bottle of milk, which they happily began drinking, "Ok, so we've got Huey, Dewey, and Louie," she said, naming off each duckling in the order they hatched. Out of nowhere, Louie tossed his bottle to the side, and started crying, which caused Huey and Dewey to start crying, "Oh, no. no, no, there's no need to cry," Selene said, as she quickly comforted her three new step-sons, "I've got my work cut out for me," she commented.
