Hey! Chapter 7! Yay!
As I watched Evalyn, I saw her existence flickering. Oh, no, wait. Her existence wasn't flickering. She was just randomly switching between werewolf form and human form, even though she looked completely out of it. Then I realized that maybe this was supposed to happen, because Toto was a small dog, and now Evalyn was going to be a werewolf puppy. Is this predestined, or something? What are the fates up to? I checked Ev's pulse. There was none. Then, all of a sudden, without warning, I fell to the ground, asleep.
Of course I had a dream. In said dream, was Lady Hera herself, the "loose cannon." Then I saw what she was wearing.
"Lady Hera, are you wearing pajamas?" I asked, getting ready to crack up.
"What- oh!" She said, and snapped her fingers. Then she was in an elegant gown. I preferred her in pajamas. Then she turned back to me. "You are probably wondering why you are here, Thalia Grace."
"That's exactly what I am wondering." I really did not want to talk to her right now. Actually, I never want to talk to her, but now especially.
"I am about to show you something that will save your life, Grace. So stay and focus on what I have to show you, but if you do not, you will regret it. Trust me, I do not want to be here as much as you, but I am doing you a favor. Now watch." Then she extended her hand, and the air above it shimmered, and formed a TV. The TV turned on, and this is what I saw: I saw Rachel Dare, and suddenly she doubled over, and green smoke spilled from her lips. She looked creepy, but of course I already knew what was going on. She was about to spill a prophecy. She opened her mouth, and I swear she looked straight at me, and then she pointed at me. This is what she said:
"Nothing is stronger than true friendship,
Especially one that is remembered with a hairclip.
Memories cause pain, and looks deceive.
Overcome your fears, and your friend you will receive."
Ok, I was officially creeped out. But Hera wasn't done. Then Hera flicked her wrist, and another image formed on the TV.
I saw Evalyn, staring into a fire in the middle of the night, and she looked 16 again. No offense to her, but she looked pretty evil in the firelight. She was polishing something with a cloth, and then she stood up. She muttered something like I gotta do this. I gotta. She walked over to a sleeping body, my body. Then she pulled out what she had been polishing earlier. It was a very ancient-looking dagger. Words were etched on the blade, and I could just barely read it. It was in Ancient Greek. It took me awhile to realize that it had the Ancient Greek word for death, Θάνατος. Then, she raised it high in the air and said "Syncho̱rí̱ste me gia af̱tó!" I didn't want to look, but then again I couldn't tear my eyes away. Then…
…..Hera turned it off.
"What the heck! What's gonna happen? Let me finish it!" I screamed at her. I wanted to see what Evalyn was going to do to me, although it doesn't take an idiot to know what. Still, I wanted to make sure. But all Her Rudeness did was say "Heed my warning, child. Your friend is your enemy. Keep your eyes peeled. But remember: if you don't, don't come crying. Dear Lady Hera warned you." Then I asked quickly, "But can you at least tell me why Evalyn is a three year old?" She nodded.
"So she won't comprehend that you know she'll betray you. It makes it easier to drop her. Like a rock." And on that happy note, she snapped her fingers, and I opened my eyes.
Percy looked at me. "Wow that was random. You just closed your eyes, fell, screamed, and then opened your eyes again. No time to rest your eyes, Thals. We gotta check if Ev's still alive."
What? I was only out for less than 3 seconds? No way, but Percy looked serious. Tyson dragged puppy Evalyn up on his shoulder and said "We have to help Brown-eyed-girl!" Don't ask, that's what he nicknames her. "We have to find help."
"Wait, Evalyn's alive?" I checked her pulse again, and found it, even through all that fur. Then, her eyes opened. For half a millisecond, her eyes seemed like they had flashed white. But that's not possible. Then she opened her lips, and said something extremely random, which was weird because she was a werewolf.
"Thalia, are you trippin'?" She asked, and then she passed out. Then someone ran into me. No, two someones.
"Please, Clarisse! I didn't steal your oil!" It sounded like…"Grover?" Percy asked. Then, Grover turned quickly. But this wasn't Grover. He looked like a lion! Then I took a look at Grover's pursuer. It was Clarisse, but not. She looked like…..a cyborg. Half her face had wires all over it. It was scary. But she looks scary anyways, so what am I talking about?
"Grover? Clarisse? What are you doing here?" But Clarisse ignored me and ran to Evalyn's side. She took Chauncey the talking Backpack, checked its contents, then looked over at Evalyn. "What happened to her? Is she OK?" I wondered at first why she cared, but then I remembered. Clarisse is Evalyn's friend almost as much as I am. Why, you ask? Well, as we all know, Chris (Clarisse's boyfriend) used to be a bad guy, and a lot of people shunned him. Then Ev showed up, and Clarisse accepted her right away, knowing people would shun her for her decisions. They go to the forest hunting together, Evalyn putting her life in Clarisse's hands, and vice versa. Can you imagine that? Clarisse trust her with her life, and right now I'm wondering if I can ever trust Evalyn ever again.
