Chapter 1: Forbidden pt 1

Okay! Welcome to this next part of the long sage of Kat and the gang. This is parcel filler for the year 1999. After this fic there will be a time jump. Enjoy!

I don't own anything. Resident Evil belongs to Capcom and Tomb Raider belongs to Core Design, Crystal Dynamics, and I think Square Enix. The only thing I own is the changes made to the stories of the Tomb Raider games/comics and Resident Evil games/comics/CG movies, the Government branch S.P.E.L.L., the person that has taken over Kathrine Warren's life, and Rose Warren. This story also will be bloody, violent, and have cursing. It's rated T for Teen.

Kat rubbed at her nose bridge. A lot had happened in the two weeks. First, funerals were held for Elza, Steve, and Steve's family. The only body buried was Steve's mother. There was no casket for Steve or his father, no bodies to go in them. Elza's was the same. No casket, no body. But they had nice framed pictures with flowers to honor them.

After the memorials, Kat took the SD cards from Skywalker I and II to S. .L.. The evidence was clearly only Umbrella related, but a meeting had been requested by her higher ups to help Sherry with her drone building and any inventions that the department might find useful to other operations. They were really excited about the portable storage box and the ability to fly it to locations. They were going to set Sherry up with any supplies she needed and a team that she can ask for assistance since she really could not ask her teachers at school.

That meeting was two days ago. Now Kat was looking over the contract that had been written up for Sherry's apprenticeship. From what she was reading, it seemed relatively good. Nothing appeared shady. But she was also distracted. She'd also had a meeting coming up. A meeting to get the ball rolling, hopefully, on getting rid of Simmons, Landsdale, and Wesker. She didn't know the first two's movements. The only thing she knew for the future on Wesker, was two locations he would be at. But she couldn't act on them until then.

Her phone rang. She grabbed it and saw her boss's name. She hit answer and put it to her ear. "Hello, sir." She said.

"Good evening, Agent." Nolan said. "Sorry to disturb you."

"No, it's okay. What is it?" Kat asked sitting back.

"I have a mission for you. You're gonna have a team this time." Nolan informed.

"Welcome everyone." Nolen said as he looked at the seven people in the room. "Sorry to have pulled you all together so late. But this is important. At approximately 23:17 on the 9th, we discovered a vampire nest in the northern area of Washington. We sent in a team of four to handle it." He said as he passed out the files on the case and the assumed missing team members. "Last commination said they ran into some trouble with…" He sighed as they all opened the files. "Some rednecks."

Kat looked up from her file. "Sorry, what?"

"Rednecks." Said the man with dirty blond hair next to her. "It's what we call the idiots who go around monster hunting. They are not associated with us and are always screwing things up for us."

"Sometimes they do our job for us, but there tends to be more collateral damage." Said the Irish accented woman.

"Anyway, after we learned of the," Nolan cleared his throat. "Freelancers. We heard the team would be going into the nest. Then we had nothing." Nolan continued. "So, we're sending in a bigger team. This is a rescue mission. You'll also be investigating what happened to the team and if you have to, exterminate the vampires of this nest."

Kat nodded slowly. She understood that vampires were not going to be sexy. They were more than likely gonna be more some middle ground of Supernatural or Buffy type of vampire. They would be scary and a difficult fight. She hadn't had to fight one yet. A real one anyway. The night stalkers didn't fully count.

"Not many of you have worked together, so I'll make the introductions." Nolan informed looking to a woman at the table whose hair was cut into a pixie cut. "Morgan Moore. She will me your team leader." He nodded to the next teammate who was of Japanese descent. "Satow Juzo, field analyst." He looked to Kat. "Kathrine Warren, surveillance." He voiced before looking to the blond man. "Adam Jameson-Foster, medic." He looked to the Irish woman. "Ivy Sullivan, recon." He looked to an older man. "Howard Jones. He's responsible for communications." He said in a way of saying the man was on thin ice or something, he then looked to their last teammate. "Daniel Russell, demolitions." Nolan finished introductions. "With that done, make the necessary phone calls and get your gear. Your flight is in six hours."

"Sir, could I bring in new equipment?" Kat asked.

"If you know how to use it, yes. But make sure you can still move around." Nolan said.

Kat found she wasn't the only one making a phone call home. Junzo, Ivy, and Adam were also making phone calls. From what she heard as she dialed her home phone was that Junzo had a wife, Ivy had a sister and boyfriend, and Adam had a fiancé. After letting Sherry know about the mission and that she might be gone for a few days or week, she called up Brooke for babysitting then gave Luella a ring along with Leon and Claire.

"Be safe…" Luella said softly, but Kat frowned at the tone.

"Lu, are you okay?" Kat asked her.

"…We'll…we'll talk when you get back. It's not…It's not something to talk about over the phone." Luella said.

"Um…Okay." Kat said pausing. "It's nothing serious right?"

"It is…but not life threating." Luella informed.

"Ok. See you then." Kat said as she hung up.

"And I thought I had a lot of people to call." Ivy joked.

"My family's fairly big." Kat said as she clipped her phone to her belt.

"So, how'd you join up? What are ya?" Howard asked in a sharp tone.

"I'm sorry?" Kat asked confused.

"Everyone in S.P.E.L.L. is one of four categories. Supernatural, had a serious encounter with paranormal/supernatural, related to someone in the agency, or related to the supernatural/paranormal." Morgan said as she packed away a dagger and a few books. "I'm a witch, for example. I specialize in runes and herbal magic."

"I fell in love with a Kitsune. She told me a year into the relationship." Junzo smiled. "We've been married for two years now."

"Some of us keep our pasts on the down low though. For personal reasons." Daniel glared at Howard.

"Sorry, I prefer to know who the hell I'm working with." Howard said annoyed. "So?"

Kat swallowed. "I'm not really comfortable just yet. Sorry." She said not liking the man.

"It's okay." Ivy nodded glaring at Howard.

"Why do I feel like I'm joining in on some sort of drama?" Kat asked looking to Morgan.

"Sadly, you kinda did." Adam said annoyed with Howard.

"I guess the three of us did." Junzo frowned since Morgan shrugged.

"Let's just say Howard's on probation." Adam voiced.

"I'm just sayin'." Howard said as they looked over their notes. "It takes a lot to get through two things as big as what you did, kid."

Kat resisted the urge to bang her head on the table. Howard had been bugging her the whole time unless they were questioning someone. He was trying to figure out if she was human or not. She really wasn't sure and didn't care. She just wanted to focus on this case, get back home and talk with her girlfriend and find out what was going on with her. It was like after the holiday and funerals, she was growing distant.

"Look, can we just focus on finding the missing team and the nest?" Kat asked as she grabbed her glass of root beer, wishing it was a strong ale or mead.

"I agree. So, let's go over what we know and have found out." Morgan said as she gave Howard the side eye.

"Team one consisted of Agent Cody Anderson, Agent Alice Anderson, Agent Jordan Moss, and Agent Henry Dawson. Agent C. Anderson is a human who married his wife who is a witch, Agent A. Anderson. Agent J. Moss is a Werewolf, newly recovered from a full moon so this was his first mission back. Agent H. Dawson was also a human and was the last person we heard from." Junzo said as he read over the paperwork. "From what the people of the dinner and motel said, all four haven't been back in two days. Last the motel owner saw was them geared up and heading south in their rental. The dinner waitress saw them at lunch time just before they left for the motel to get geared up." He finished.

"Okay, and…" Morgan sighed looking at the papers. "This Freelancer? Is he a repeat or a new one?"

"Repeat. Jim Lewis, 57. Hasn't been caught by us though. The second most hear about feds arriving, they skip town pretty quick. Most are caught coming back to the area. Last one I bagged, said she was making sure the Aswong was dead." Ivy said. "She hated my guts. Don't blame her."

"Okay, missing persons. Any change?" Morgan asked.

"Nope. If anything, they've jumped in number." Kat voiced looking at her file, she really felt like she was a Hunter on Supernatural right then. The difference was she was doing it legally. "Going from 5 a week to 12." She swallowed. "None are kids though." She said frowning at that. "I could've sworn vamps love kid blood."

"It's a preference." Adam said. "I dated a rehabilitated vamp and she said she hated child blood. Too sweet she said." He shuttered.

"I say we find the vamp nest and burn it. The team's more than likely dead." Howard said.

"And that's why you're on probation. We don't abandon teammates. We find them, we help them if they are kidnapped or injured. We avenge them and return their body to family if they died." Adam hissed darkly.

"Well, some of our people don't leave bodies, it's a waste." Howard stated.

"You son of—" Daniel moved to attack the older agent.

"Enough!" Morgan hissed pushing Daniel to his seat. "Both of you need to shut the hell up. I'm in charge and I will not have my team acting like children." She informed firmly. "Now, we should get access to both the team's rooms and the hunter's room if he's skipped town. They normally travel light but sometimes leave a lot behind." She looked at everyone. "We good?"

She got the nods she wanted.

"Good. Pack up."

"Moore's right I see." Howard said nodding at the missing person's posters on the wall. "The rednecks left an orgy of evidence."

"I wouldn't call it an orgy, Jones." Ivy said as she looked over the left papers. "He did narrow down the nest to four locations in Ravenna Woods."

"In a public park?" Kat asked frowning.

"Seems pretty stupid of the vamps, yeah." Ivy nodded. "But there are some homeless camps there. Might have been their main food source, then they got picky with the taste."

Howard scoffed. "Picky vamps are the worst vamps." He looked to Kat. "You aren't a vamp, right kid?"

Kat rolled her eyes as she looked at the missing. "No. I'm not."

"Then what are you? Are you like Sullivan?" He asked. "Something to do with death?"

Kat flinched just a touch.

"Great. Another dead woman."

"That's enough, Jones. Leave her be." Ivy growled. "We're done here."

Country: America, State: Washington, City: Seattle, Place: Motel 6, Area: Rental car, Month: January, Day: Wednesday 13th, Year: 1998, Time: 14:26 PDT…

"So, we have two locations." Adam said as he showed them what they had found in the missing team's room. "So…how do we do this?"

"We split up again." Morgan said. "Ivy, Dan, and Adam will go to possible nest 1. I, Kat, Howard, and Junzo will go to nest 2. Kat and Ivy will go first and observe the scenes. Let your mini team know what you see." She said. "Everyone got their jobs?" At the nods she continued. "Good. If you find any living teammates, get them out of there and let us know where the nest is. Let's go."

Country: America, State: Washington, City: Seattle, Place: Ravenna Woods, Area: South side of the park, Month: January, Day: Wednesday 13th, Year: 1998, Time: 15:36 PDT…

Kat sat in the tree. The area was a memory jog for her second life. She knew she'd lived in Washington at that point in time. The smell of the wet soil, the color of the moss and trees. It was weirdly comforting. She had her rifle out and was looking through the night vision sight at the area. She couldn't see anything out of the ordinary though. No odd eye shine, no human shapes.

"Agent Warren to Agent Moore, I see nothing amiss." Kat radioed over the earpiece.

"Received. Agent Sullivan, report." Morgan said.

"Negative over here, Agent Moore." Ivy said. "I don't sense any death in my area."

Kat then spotted something moving. "Hang on…I've got something…"

She looked to where she saw movement. A pair of men were moving through the woods. One leaning on the other. The one leaning looked injured. His eyes also glowed like an animal's.

"I've got two males coming to my position. One looks badly hurt. He's got the eye shine of an animal." Kat voiced as they got closer.

"Can you give a description?" Morgan asked.

"Negative. All I can say is that the one helping the injured one is maybe 5'12." Kat reported. "Should I take them out or engage?"

"Do not engage alone. Take Howard with you." Morgan said.

Kat mouthed 'Shit'. She really was getting why most of the team disliked the man. He was too annoying and his questions seemed to show he had a level of asshole prejudice to the supernatural agents. "Understood. Climbing down. Over." She put her rifle to her shoulder and climbed down.

She got down to the ground and turned around to find where she spotted the men. The smallest part of her wanting to go fast. But she had to go slow and wait for Howard.
