Chapter 19: The Rescuers

I don't own anything. Resident Evil belongs to Capcom and Tomb Raider belongs to Core Design, Crystal Dynamics, and I think Square Enix. The only thing I own is the changes made to the stories of the Tomb Raider games/comics and Resident Evil games/comics/CG movies, the Government branch S.P.E.L.L., the person that has taken over Kathrine Warren's life, and Rose Warren. This story also will be bloody, violent, and have cursing. It's rated T for Teen.

Jill watched the men through her binoculars. The plan now was that she and Carlos would keep watch of the goings on and try to sabotage things to delay the kidnappers. Once Chris and Claire got there, they'd switch jobs and become the distraction while the Redfields went in quietly to get Sherry out of there. If they managed to take off, Chris and Claire would go after them in a jet. Lara and Sam were waiting on the other side of the airfield with Jonah, Sam, and a guy named Zip. They would be there to intercept them. But if all goes well, that part of the plan wouldn't need to happen.

"See Sherry anywhere?" Carlos asked quietly from next to her as he checked over their supplies.

"Nothing. They must have her in the jet already or she's in that hanger. But I do count 5 men. Just as Kat said. One of them appears to be the pilot." Jill said.

"I'll radio the others." Carlos said as he pulled his radio. "Carlos to Chris, what is your location."

"Receiving Carlos. We're at the back of the air hanger. Any sign of Sherry." Chris's voice asked into the headset to make sure they were not eavesdropped on.

"None on that front. It means she's on the jet already or she in the hanger. Any windows on your end." Carlos asked as Jill saw a man get on the jet.

"Claire's looking…" Chris voiced then paused. "Sherry's in there. She's not on the plane."

"Okay. What kind of distraction do you want from Jill and I." Carlos asked as Jill saw a guy walk back into the hanger.

"Something loud. That plane is gonna be loud. You'll need to be louder." Chris infromed.

Carlos nodded. "Understood." He then turned to Jill. "We need to be loud with our distraction."

Jill nodded. "Let's move." She voiced and stood up.

She and him ran to the side of the building. Once there, Carlos radioed Chris.

"Where exactly is Sherry in the building?" He asked.

"She'd pretty close to the backdoor. Why?" Chris asked.

"You wanted loud." Carlos said as he saw Jill toss a pair of grenades at the men. "It's gonna be loud."

The two black bobs rolled and bounced on the floor. When the two men saw them, they yelled and tried to back up. They were not fast enough. The flash bang grenades went off. The flash of white light and crack of thunder both blinded and deafened the four men. Jill and Carlos then ran at them.

At the sound of the two flash bangs, Claire and Chris pushed into the hanger through the back door. Chris kept an eye on the fight going on with Carlos and Jill as Claire rushed to Sherry's side. The small blonde was bound by both hand cuffs and ropes, her mouth gagged, and she was thrashing in the chair with closed eyes, tears running down her cheeks. She was muttering something around the gag. Claire grabbed her shoulders and lightly shook her as Chris kept his gun drawn and aimed at the four men that Jill and Carlos were fighting.

Carlos was exchanging blows with two of the men, using a retracting baton. He was a whirl of motion as he brought the baton down or side to side across a raised arm, wrist, or shin. The loud cracks of the metal on bone was loud enough to hear over the yells of pain from each hit. As the man on the right tried to raise his gun Carlos grabbed a knife that was strapped to his chest and tossed it with enough force to imbed it in the man's throat. The man fell choking on his own blood. Seeing his partner fall the other man rushed at Carlos and managed to land a right cross into the side of Carlo's head.

Carlos staggered back from the blow, seeing black spots in his vison. It felt like the man had fists of cement. He tasted blood in his mouth as he brought up his fists. So, it was going to be like that. He was itching for a good fight.

"Sherry, it's me. It's Claire. Look at me." Claire said gently as the plane started revving up.

Sherry opened her reddened eyes and fresh tears fell as relief filled her bright blue eyes. Claire moved quickly. She pulled her knife from her shoulder and cut the ropes. And pulled the gag from Sherry's mouth.

"Claire…" Sherry whimpered. "What happened to mom? Is she okay?" She asked the relief in her teary eyes replaced with terror at the thought of losing another mother.

"She's okay." Claire assured her. "Her and Leon are back at your house waiting for us to get there." She said as she struggled to try and pick the lock on the cuffs. "Shit…"

The sounds of the fighting behind her intensifying. She risked a quick look over in time to see Jill do a very impressive jump spin kick to a guys head. It staggered the man but he was still on his feet. But then was down throwing up as he was holding his groin after Jill delivered a push kick right to the man's crotch.

"I-I can do it." Sherry sniffled.

Claire looked back to her and smiled a little. "Course you can." She said, knowing Sherry ether taught herself or Kat had started teaching them thanks to Lara and Jill.

"That'll have to wait." Chris said as he walked over and picked Sherry up with one arm. "Claire, cover us. We need to go."

"Wa-wait!" Sherry called with wide eyes as they rushed out the back.

"We're out and have Sherry." Claire said into the radio as she took her brother's place with keeping an eye on the men that were down and the plane was leaving.

"Rodger. Pulling out." Jill said as she rushed the guy that was facing Carlos as they exchanged blows and cracked her elbow right into the temple of the guy. That staggered him away enough for Carlos to punch him in the throat, crushing his trachea. The man dropped to his knees, holding his throat as he slowly strangled to death.

"But they took my blood!" Sherry yelled.

Claire and Chris shared worried looks as they ran for the woods nearby. "What?"

"It's on the plane." Sherry told them as she worked on her lock.

Chris looked to Claire as she looked at the leaving plane. "We've got Lara on the other side, right?" He asked as they had no way of stopping that plane.

Claire nodded. "Yeah." She switched channels as they got to their getaway car. "Claire to Lara."

"Read you, Claire." Lara said.

"One man's escaped and has a blood sample from Sherry. We can't let him get away with that." Claire infromed.

"Understood. We'll stop them." Lara said with a firm tone.

Sherry felt a small smile. Her family was so big now and so caring. She always had wondered what it would be like to have cool uncles or an aunt was really rad. She looked at Claire half running backwards, covering their back, and smiled wider. She had the coolest family.

Lara waited from her hiding place. She was with Sam and Jonah. Zip, an old friend from collage that Kat hadn't met, was with them too. They all waited for the plane that they now knew held a sample of Sherry's blood.

"Think you can use your powers?" Lara asked looking to Sam.

Sam shook her head. "I really don't want to. But maybe? It's not an exact science." She looked down at her chest, feeling her Ofuda tattoo warm up as if in response to her words.

"If you can, use your lightning to destroy the blood sample. Then no one gets it." Lara told her, not willing to unleash the strength of Himiko's inherited power on the sky.

Sam nodded.

"We're sure Sherry's not on that plane? That Redfield, his sister and team got her before it took off?" Jonah asked unsure.

"Claire and Chris wouldn't lie. Claire, Kat, and Sherry went through Raccoon together. Claire cares for Sherry as much as Kat." Lara assured. "Do you see them, Zip?"

Zip nodded. "Green and white plane?"

"Yes." Lara nodded picking up her own binoculars. "That has to be the right one."

"Do we move?" Sam asked.

"We should see who he's meeting with." Lara said watching as the second plane came down the runway and started to taxi over to the one by the hanger. "Once we see that, we move in and stop them."

She saw two figures get out of the plane that just landed by the hanger and start to walk over to the other plane. The door on the side opened and the man that was the pilot for the group that had Sherry, came out. From what Lara could see, this man was somewhat relieved. Almost as if he had just come away scott free from a fight that he'd had no part in. In his right hand he held a silver briefcase. That had to hold Sherry's blood sample. The man met with the two people that had come to greet him. One was a man in his early 30's with blond hair, the other, a woman who had a jacket on with the hood up. She was nowhere near enough to hear what was being said, but it was clear by the body language that some sort of a deal was going on.

She saw the man open the briefcase and turn to hold it open to the woman. The woman looked at it for a moment then took out a strange device from a hip pouch. It appeared to be some sort of a scanner. Her hand moved back and forth over the inside of the briefcase. After a few moments, she stopped looked to the man with her, and nodded.

"Let's go." Lara voiced, and with that she, Jonah, and Sam jumped from their hiding spot aiming to attack. Leaving Zip behind to handle the hacking of the cameras and security, making sure that whatever they did wasn't recorded or seen.

Lara drew out her hand-held crossbow and paused when she was in range and took a shot at the pilot. The bolt sunk right into the side of his knee. He dropped to the ground screaming as he clutched at his leg. She started to run again but Jonah had passed her and was pulling out his Maori club. Lara had marveled at it when they were flying over. It was a Wahaika made of wale bone. It was carved with intricate designs that looked like a stylized fish with its mouth open. The shape was like a small, handled oar, the handle was for one hand and the shaft was wide and flat, one side was tapered and so thin it was sharp enough to cut if you hit someone with that edge.

The man spun around and faced Jonah. Seeing the larger man approaching he dropped into a fighting stance. Jonah stopped as well and let out a roar that turned into a Haka as he stomped and slapped one hand to his chest a few times. The blond man let out a martial arts attack cry and launched himself at Jonah. Using the club, he parried the man's fast knees and feet. But with just the one weapon, and not really trained in fighting, he left his side open a bit too much and took a blow to his left side. He staggered back and Lara jumped in.

As Jonah staggered to the side, Lara leapt up and using her elbow she slammed it across the blonde's left jaw. She followed that up with a left hook to the right side but the man saw it coming and turned so that her fist just clipped his jaw, not doing much damage. As the man turned back to her he brought up a leg and as she went to block the knee, he switched to a jump and brought up his other foot aimed at her head. She brought up her arms to block and protect her head but he hit her with enough force to lurch her to the side.

As soon as Lara staggered, Jonah stepped in with the club and brought it down on the guys outstretched leg. The edge cut through on his thigh, leaving a gash about four inches long.

The man cried out in pain and stepped back from the two, trying to put as little weight on the leg as he could. But he saw Sam bending down to gab the case. He spun and caught her across the jaw. Her head snapped to the side, but she didn't even wobble.

When she slowly turned to look at him, there was a rage in her eyes, little sparks of red energy were dancing around and through her fingers of her right hand. Over the last five months, since the Himiko incident, Sam seemed to have inherited some of Himiko's power. Luckily not her life essence just her power. At first, she was able to control the weather completely. The last month however, it has downgraded. As if it was growing weaker or wearing off, a residual effect from than attempted possession. The theory was that within the next year or so Sam would be back to how she was, a normal girl with her camera. Until then she was like a mutant for Marvel Comics.

The sky instantly darkened with grey and black clouds, thunder rumbled and boiled as streaks of lighting lanced through from one cloud to the next. Without a word Sam punched out toward him with her now closed fist. Bolt of red crackling energy blasted up from her core to race down her arm. As it reached her fingers, she flicked them open, like she was flicking water off her fingers at the man. The red energy lanced out from her fingers, right into the fighter. He screamed and jerked from the electricity roaring through his body. It was only seconds, but then he fell to the ground his skin blackened and charred in places, smoke coming from his open mouth and off his burnt body. Sam lowered her hand and then she fell to her knees as the power that had filled her left just as fast.

Lara looked to the pilot she had shot in the knee. She leaned down to grab him by the front of his shirt and lift him to his feet. She looked around and the woman was nowhere in sight. Lara looked back at the pilot, glaring into his eyes as if he was her old headmaster from school.

"Where did the woman go?" She asked with a dark tone.

The pilot, looked at her with a dazed expression. Pain can do that to someone.

"Lara, we've got a problem." Jonah said, getting Lara to turn and look at him.

In his hand he held the open briefcase. The inside had black foam that was carved into the shape of the contents to keep them stabilized. There was a vial of what appeared to be blood nestled in a shaped pocket. The problem that Jonah was referring to however was the fact that there were two slots in the black foam. This meant there had been two vials within it. The woman from before, she must have taken one of the vials when she saw them coming.

Lara turned her attention back to the man in her hands, which griped the lapels of his shirt so tightly her knuckles were white, and her nails were digging into the fabric. "How many vials were in that case?" She growled, hoping to intimidate him.

By now the guy wasn't as dazed as he was before she had pulled him to his feet. "T-two…"

"Ok and where did the woman take it?" She questioned.

"Dunno. We-we weren't told that." He said, his speech slightly slurred.

Laura growled and then cracked him across the head with her handgun knocking him out cold. She turned to Jonah and took the vial that was in the case out, looking it over. The vial looked like it was made of glass that was held within some sort of metal casing. Enough of the glass was visible, that all it would take was maybe a hit to it and it would shatter. Or…

Laura looked to Sam who was getting back up, rubbing at her jaw. Her fingers were still sparking with red energy. "Sam, thank you have enough energy to destroy this?" Laura asked as she hefted the vial.

Sam looked up from her hand, then at the vial. "Maybe? I dunno."

"Please try it. We can't let Umbrella or Trinity or whoever else get ahold of Sherry's blood." Lara stressed to her.

Sam took a deep breath but nodded. With that Lara hefted the vial and then tossed it high into the air. With the vial in the air, Sam pulled her hand close to her chest, closing it into a fist. With a quick snap, threw her hand outward, flicking her fingers out toward the vial. The red energy seemed to resonate from her chest then rush out over her shoulders down her arm and out of her fingertips once again. But rather than the bolt from before, they were thinner and more thread like. These lines of red energy then wrapped together like braided rope. It cut through the air and thunder rumbled. Just as the vial is starting to descend downward back to earth, the lightning hit and wrapped around it like the end of a whip, holding it in the air. The moment it did, the blood inside the vial began to bubble froth and boil, turning to steamy red mist inside. The metal began to heat turning a bright orangey red color. A squealing cracking sound began to resonate.

With a cracking pop, the vial shattered, the red blood mist had pressurized the inside and the lightning hit had caused minor fractures all throughout the vial. The combination of both these things, shattered it to pieces. The metal fell to the ground steaming and left burn marks on the concrete. As for the blood mist, it had burned away at to nothing. Not even a particle was left that could infect people with the G-virus or G-antibody.
