Chapter 17: Sherry's Kidnapped

I don't own anything. Resident Evil belongs to Capcom and Tomb Raider belongs to Core Design, Crystal Dynamics, and I think Square Enix. The only thing I own is the changes made to the stories of the Tomb Raider games/comics and Resident Evil games/comics/CG movies, the Government branch S.P.E.L.L., the person that has taken over Kathrine Warren's life, and Rose Warren. This story also will be bloody, violent, and have cursing. It's rated T for Teen.

Kat, Sherry, and Rose entered the house with smiles. Kat closed the door and headed for the kitchen. She had an arm full of leftovers from the restaurant.

"Okay, you two need to get your homework done. No tinkering or dancing till it's done." Kat told them both as they started for the living room.

"Okay!" The two called as they got to their earlier abandoned school bags.

Kat entered the kitchen as a rainstorm started outside. She smiled. She liked the rain, lightning though makes her think about Himiko, but the rain didn't. As she put the food in the refrigerator, she felt dread in her stomach. She didn't know why, but she was gonna trust the feeling. It hadn't failed her before.

She looked to Sherry and Rose as they opened their books for school. It seemed normal. She walked to the hall closet and pulled her spear out, gripping it tightly. Holding it gave her more comfort than her climbing axe or her other weapons. She walked from door to door and window to window, locking them. Just as she reentered the living room, the sound of glass shattering made her daughter's scream.

Her eyes went wide as she saw the thing that rolled on the floor, making a metallic rattle on hardwood. It was a black cylinder, and a pin was missing.

"Girls run!" Kat yelled and rushed over and used the spear end like a golf club and smacked the presumed grenade away from her and the girls.

The small black cylinder went flying back by the front door. Sherry and Rose yelped as they jumped up from their chairs and ran for the kitchen. Kat right behind them, guarding their backs. The deafening boom and bright flash from the flash bang caught them off guard. It left them all dazed, their ears ringing and the edges of their sight was a stinging white.

Kat hissed out a yell at the pain, but faced the door in a fighting stance as she struggled to orient herself. With her ears ringing, she couldn't tell if another window broke or if a door was knocked in. She had to rely on her sight if she wanted to fight. She took a deep breath and muttered something under her breath in Norse as she felt a small smile as adrenaline flooded her system with each rapid beat of her heart. Oh yes, it was time for a fight and she was looking forward to it. She saw but didn't hear, the front door banged open and a man in black enter in a crouch.

"Get somewhere! Hide!" Kat yelled at her daughters and signaled with the hand sign they had used back in Raccoon. She let out a battle cry and launched herself at the man.

Kat lined up her spear and ducked down as the man tried to shoot her. She turned her body to the side and with a quick thrust she stabbed the spear point into his throat, right in between the gas mask and body armor. She then yanked her blade to the side, ripping and slicing his neck open. Her hearing was coming back because she was able to hear him choking on his own blood as it sprayed from his neck.

She saw a movement to her right and started to turn, only to be cracked in the face by the butt of a rifle. If she hadn't turned her head, she would've been knocked out rather than stumbling back as sparks of light flashed in her eyes from the pain of her nose being broken. She growled in pain as she looked to the man that had hit her as the first one dropped. As he started to lower the gun to shoot her, she stepped in low, getting into his personal space, and not giving him room to level the gun at her. Caught off guard, he squeezed off a round that went to high and over her head to impact into the door. She used the end of her spear like a bat and swung it into the side of his knee. He had knee pads on but that only protected the knee cap, not the side. The impact buckled his knee to the side with an audible crack. As he crumpled to the ground clutching his broken knee, she spun into the kitchen.

He was in the process of letting go of the riffle he was carrying and grabbing for his side arm to shot at her. She brought the spear end up over her head and cracked it down onto his wrist. It was not enough to break it but it was enough to knock him off balance. She reached out with her left hand and grabbed up a newly seasoned cast iron skillet off the stove, swung it hard into the right side of his head then brought it back in a backhand swing into the left side of his head. The sound of metal hitting skull echoing in the kitchen as he dropped to the floor.

As Kat moved to stab with her spear, she yelped in pain as her hair was grabbed from behind and her head pulled back. She dropped the pan to reach up and try to grab the hand as she growled in anger and pain. As she was yanked through the door, her right hand holding her spear was slammed into the door frame. Out of reflex, she opened her hand, her spear falling from her fingers as she tried to slam her elbow back into the man behind her, but he was far enough back that she didn't connect.

She was dragged back a few steps then the man swung her around and slammed her head into the dining room table twice in quick hard thumps. Pain flared across her face as she felt warm blood running down her neck from her cheek as she was flung to the side. She hit the floor hard with her face. She felt blood spray from her mouth onto the wood flooring. She was seeing black spots in her vision. She groaned as she tried to get up to her hands and knees.

Through her daze she heard screaming. She yelled as she tried to craw forward to get her spear. The man grabbed her by the back of her jeans and dragged her back. She tried to kick out at him but he twisted out of range, slamming the butt of his gun on her leg. She screamed in pain and fell to her side. The move opened her up and he took the opportunity to deliver a kick to her stomach. She rolled from the blow, trying to remember how to breath, when he kicked her a second time. She rolled onto her stomach and look up in time to see a man carrying a small blonde form on his shoulder.

"No! No! Sherry!" Kat gasped as she felt the man once again grab her by the hair and lifted her to slam her face down on the tabletop, her arms were yanked behind her as he tried to cuff her.

"MOM! MOM!" Sherry screamed out, tears streaming down her cheeks from fear as she kicked her legs and drummed her small fists on the mans back.

"Fight them!" Kat yelled. "No matter what happens! Fight!"

Sherry kept screaming, kicking, and hitting the man carrying her.

"I'll find you!" Kat promised as she felt around the man's belt behind her, her grasping fingers felt the butt of his gun. She struggled to get a grip on it while he was distracted trying to get the cuffs on her other hand. "I swear by Odin's blood!" She yelled in her Norse accent as she then pressed herself to the table top as she felt him get the cuffs on her.

She didn't know where Rose was, but she had to get out of this hold, she could not help her girls if they drugged her or knocked her out. She let out a roar as she gripped the gun then rocketed her head back. The man had taken his strength and weight from her shoulders and head. The back of her skull struck his face and she felt his nose break.

Kat pulled the gun from his belt and spun away from him and the table. She flicked off the safety with her thumb and twisted to the side to aim the gun at him. She could not lift it high so she shot at what she could reach, his midsection and groin. She was still roaring with anger as she saw his body jerk with each shot. She emptied the clip into him. She dropped the empty gun to free up her hands.

She jumped up, curling her legs close to her chest, she pulled her arms forward under her legs so her hands were now in front of her. Seeing the two men coming in from the living she dashed forward to the one on the left and kicked out in a push kick move right into his groin. He doubled over so she followed up with a knee to his head. He fell onto his back, out cold.

She ran at the second man while he was looking at his comrade. She twisted at the waist and put all her strength into slamming her elbow across his face, hoping to break his nose. While he was stunned for a moment, she punched him in the throat so he could not breath. She grabbed up the phone on the side table and ducked around him. Looping the phone cord around his neck, she jumped up onto his back, wrapping her legs around to squeeze, so he could not get in a breath while she strangled him. She then snarled as she yanked the cord tight, snapping the flimsy chain on the cuffs in her adrenaline-fueled anger. He started choking and gurgling. He bent forward hoping to offset her. The man was gasping, unable now to draw in breath. He fell back onto the couch as he tried to dislodge her. She just pulled harder on the cord.

It took nearly a minute before he went limp. She kicked him to the floor and grabbed his gun, shoved his helmet off, she pulled the trigger twice on the back of his head. She ran out of her house after Sherry. She was panting in pain and exhausted. A dark colored van rounding a corner was out of her sight. Kat nearly collapsed right then. Gone. Sherry was gone. She let out a pained, mournful, wraith filled scream. She heaved air after and limped back into her crime scene of a house. She had to find Rose. Rose had to still be there. She didn't see them take her out of the house.

"Rose!" She called out with a hoarse voice.

She limped passed two dead bodies. The living room and entry room flickered to a bloody stone house, then to a bloody temple, then a bloody police station, lastly a bloody ship deck before appearing as her living room. Reentering her living room and dining room, she found four more bodies. Three were dead. One was still alive but knocked out. She held her stolen gun at him for a moment. Then she lowered it. She needed him for later.

"Rose! Where are you!?" She called out as terror gripped her heart.

"M-Mommy!?"

Relief filled Kat as she limped to the bathroom door, finding it open. She opened it more and there was Rose. There was blood spray on her face and chunks of something in her hair. Kat pulled her close with one hand.

"What happened sweetie?" She asked as her body started shaking from the pain of her injuries now that the adrenalin started to ware off.

"We-we hid…l-like you said…they found us." Rose whimpered into her mother's side. "I…was hi-hit… they took Sherry!" She screamed. "I-I…" She couldn't speak more as she just cried.

Kat looked at the bathtub and saw her spare climbing axe was imbedded in the head of a man. She swallowed thickly. She knew what happened. She hated it. Zombies were one thing. A living human was another thing entirely.

Kat sat on the bed. Her list of injuries were pretty extensive. Cracked orbit, black eye, both lips split in three places, broken nose, two broken ribs, one bruised, deep cuts on her wrists, bruises everywhere, scraps and cuts, and a fractured tibia. She was alive, that didn't count for much with Sherry kidnapped. Rose was mostly unharmed. She was more damaged mentally then physically. Killing a human was different then a zombie. Zombies had no brain power to make them a person.

They took her and Rose to the base clinic and did X-rays and patched her up. She knew they were also cleaning the house and removing the bodies, so Rose didn't have to see or hear them. She was glad of that. When they got home, everything was cleaned, and you could not tell that a small battle took place in there. Rose didn't want to leave Kat and sleep in her own bed. Kat couldn't sleep at all. But she sat next to Rose, with her spear propped next to the bed in easy reach watching the sun come up through the window.

She looked up as she heard the front door slam and footsteps running up the stairs. She knew it was Leon, he called last night as he was getting on the Helicopter heading to her house. The team from the agency showed up just after the call to secure the area and the medic looked her over. She looked behind her to see Rose had fallen asleep hugging the pillow. She slid to the edge of the bed with a small hiss of pain.

The door opened and her eyes widened as she saw Leon. He looked almost as beat up as her. Almost. She was worse in her opinion. She'd need a cane to lean on for a while.

"Fucking hell…" He exhaled in shock as he saw her, taking in the bandages and her bruised face.

"You should see the other guys. They didn't need medics, just body bags." Kat said with a scratchy voice. "You look better than me. I think. Not by much though."

He sighed and shook his head. "You should see the other guy." He joked back and took a seat next to her on the bed, being careful not to jostle her. "Where's the girls? Are they okay?"

Kat swallowed. "Rose will need more therapy." She explained. "She killed a man last night." She nodded behind her.

"Shit…" He turned and blinked in surprise as he didn't even see her when he walked in, but she was just a ball behind Kat.

"They took her." Kat said, closing her eye and swallowing. "They took Sherry."

Leon looked back at her with wide eyes. The only thing that would've made this worse was if Kat had said they killed Sherry not taken her. But it still felt worse. He stood up and walked over to the window and looked out at the men walking around the house. He slammed his fist on the window frame.

"We'll get her back." He vowed. "Fuck." He hissed as he turned to look at her. "What do we do?"

"What makes you think I know?" Kat asked him.

He caught it. Her accent had slipped. As scratchy as her voice was, he heard the Norse. "Because you have your Valkyrie voice, you know who has her, and you seem to have a plan."

Kat nodded slowly. "I do." She looked to him. "Just need to get the agents away from the house."
