Isa: I can't believe you ditched me

Liv: It's for a good reason

Isa: I guess

Isa: I'm kidding. I hope you have fun

I giggled at that.

"Who's got you laughing?" Mom asked, smiling. We were standing outside the dress shop, April was with us. We were waiting for Teddy to get here.

"Isa."

"Ah." Mom nodded.

When Teddy finally showed up- 'just on time' as she said- we went inside.

"And here I was thinking we'd be doing this whole shabang for April first." Teddy remarked as we waited for Mom to check in for her appointment.

"Me?!" April looked surprised.

"Don't be shocked." Teddy rolled her eyes jokingly.

Mom turned around from the counter. "Teddy, behave!"

I started giggling.

Teddy made a mocking face, and Mom turned her back again.

"She went Mom mode on youuu." April whispered.

"Oh no," Teddy said sarcastically.

"I can hear you." Mom said.

The teasing stopped. Briefly. If you can't tell, the three of them mess around a lot. Personally I think it's pretty funny. I've always thought they were funny.

I didn't know what to expect for the whole trying on wedding dresses thing. I mean- what experience did I have? So, I was just going with it.

Teddy and April sat on a bench, which was next to a higher part of the floor, which was in front of mirrors.

I sat too. Then, Mom disappeared with one of the women from the desk.

"Is she putting on a dress?" I asked.

"Uh probably. I don't really know how this works." Teddy shrugged.

"Guys, it's not that complicated. She is trying on wedding dresses. Obviously she is putting a dress on." April said.

"Smart ass." Teddy mumbled.

"Teddy!"

Teddy just laughed, and so did I.

We sat through an insane number of dresses, some Mom loved, some she didn't.

Personally, I thought she looked pretty in all of them. But, she's my mom. I'm probably biased.

"This one is getting closer, I think." Mom said as she walked out.

It was stunning. The dress had a v neck, and was fitted almost down her whole body, but curved out near her knees. It only had a little bit of it that would lay on the ground.

"I like that it doesn't really have a train, since we want to be outside. That could be messy." Mom stood on the stand.

"Outside? Where?" Teddy stood up.

"We don't know yet."

"Beach wedding? Oh! You guys should do it at my parents place on the beach!"

"Really?" Mom asked.

"Yeah! You should talk to Callie about that. I think it would be amazing. Pretty views, no hassle of renting some venue."

Mom nodded as she spun around in the dress. "I like this, but I don't love it." She said. Then, she looked at Teddy. "Thats a really good idea. Plus, I think it would be pretty hard to find something to rent now."

"I think that would be so fun! It's really pretty up there, too." I piped in.

Mom turned to me and smiled. "Yeah. I'll have to talk with Cal later tonight." She stepped off the stand. "I think I need something a little more flowy, I feel like this is way too tight." She said to the person who was helping her with the dresses.

Then, she disappeared again.

"I think Callie will like the beach wedding idea." I told Teddy and April.

"Yeah?" April asked.

"Mhm. I mean, who wouldn't?" I giggled.

"You're right." April nodded her agreement.

We waited for a while this time. But, when Mom finally came out, she was beaming.

I watched as she eagerly stood on the stand, her smile bright. This dress was tight until her hips, and then went out into a more flowy bottom.

The bottom of the dress had a sheer lace over it that was in some flower pattern.

That was so Mom.

The back was cut low, and part of it had that same lace over her bare skin. The front was also cut low.

I just loved how happy she looked.

You would think after trying on billions of dresses she would be bored at this point. But, she was so happy- in this particular dress.

It wasn't super long at the bottom or anything. Easy to walk in, I assumed.

"I love this" Mom said.

"Yeah? Anything we would change?" The dress lady asked. Barb, I think was her name. I hadn't really paid attention- oops.

Mom turned around, looking at the back of the dress through the mirror. Then, she looked at the three of us.

"What do you guys think?"

"You look beautiful!" I said.

"It's gorgeous on you!" April agreed.

"Super pretty, Zona!" Teddy added.

Mom turned back to face the mirror, "I don't know that I want to change anything."

"As in this is the dress?" Barb(I think) asked.

I could totally see this as Mom's dress. Mom met my eyes through the mirror, and I smiled at her. She gave me a little thumbs up.

"This is the dress!" She said.

"Oh congratulations! Beautiful choice dear!" Barb said.

"I think it's perfect!" Mom turned to the three of us. "Perfect if we do it on the beach, or anywhere, really. And it makes me feel like a princess."

"You're a queen" April said. "This is your princess" She pointed at me.

"That was so cheesy April." Teddy said, making Mom and I laugh. "The dress is stunning, Zona. You're stunning."

April stuck her tongue out at Teddy, then went over to Mom. "You're getting married! How real does it feel now? Dress all picked out."

Mom nodded, "It feels very real. I can't wait." She held her arms up as Barb was pinning certain areas of the dress, probably making sure it will fit perfectly.

"You look so beautiful. The flowers are so you." April said.

"Yeah, I think so, too. Thank you guys." Mom was smiling so big.

I matched her smile.

I was so happy for her.

This was all I wanted for her after we left her ex. A fairytale.
