At 0800 hours the following morning, Yeoman Elanore Troi and Commander Spock stood ready to be beamed from the surface of New Vulcan, having said their farewell's, however hard to do. They were both dressed in their standard Starfleet uniforms, Spock in his blue science shirt and black slacks and Elanore in her red Yeoman shirt, black skirt and shin high boots. She almost grimaced at the short nature of the skirt, continually fidgeting with the hemline, tugging on it as if wishing it were an inch or two longer.
I swear whoever designed the female Starfleet uniform was a gigantic pervert!
"Enterprise to Spock." Spock's communicator suddenly came to life and he calmly opened communications, before replying, "This is Spock."
"We're ready to beam you and Yeoman Troi onto the Enterprise. Stand ready." A young voice replied and Elanore instantly knew it was Captain Kirk.
"Yes sir." Spock stated before terminating communications. Elanore inhaled and exhaled nervously, squeezing her hands together tightly and she prepared herself to be beamed. The truth was she had never been beamed before and had no idea what to expect. Elanore took one last look around her, smiling sadly as she watched a few Vulcan's observing their departure from a line of tents. Suddenly swirls of energy were surrounding her before New Vulcan disappeared.
Elanore cracked open one eye and then the other, breathing out a steady sigh of relief as she turned to observe Spock standing unscathed on a similar beaming platform to the one she currently stood on, looking as calm as ever. She watched as he stepped easily from the platform, mirroring his actions before coming face-to-face with none other than Captain James T. Kirk of the U.S.S Enterprise and her immediate commanding officer.
"Spock! Good to have you back!" Elanore watched as Captain Kirk clapped Spock on the back in a friendly manner, forcing back a smile as the Commander merely raised a confused eyebrow before replying, "It is good to be back, Captain."
Captain Kirk's eyes turned from Spock to the young woman dressed in Starfleet Red's standing beside him and let his smile grow. She was tall and curvaceous, her uniform fitting perfectly to her frame and the short standard issue skirt showing off the shapeliness of her legs. She had a round face and her skin was pale, her dark thick eyebrows and chocolate eyes contrasting against her long mane of red hair, which she had tied securely at the nape of her neck.
"Yeoman Troi, welcome to the Enterprise!" Captain Kirk finally greeted and he watched as Yeoman Troi let a small smile come to her face before she responded, "It's an honour to be here, sir."
"I hope Spock didn't bore you too much!" Kirk added with a mischievous grin to which Spock merely raised a perfectly arched brow at his Captain again but remained silent.
"On the contrary, Captain. His company was enjoyable." Yeoman Troi replied without pause and Kirk's eyes widened slightly in amusement.
I wonder what Uhura would have to say about that!
"Well, that's...good then." Kirk faltered then cleared his throat.
"Commander Spock, your shift begins at 1100 hours. Would you mind escorting Yeoman Troi to her quarters before you report to the Bridge?" He continued, seemingly unfazed by the awkward exchange just moments before.
"Certainly, Captain." Spock responded with an incline of his head.
"Yeoman Troi, once you've settled in, please report to my office and we'll get started." Kirk directed at his Yeoman and she nodded tersely, replying with a swift, "Yes sir", before following Spock down the corridor and away from the beaming platforms.
"I like her." Captain Kirk muttered to himself.
