Yeoman Elanore Troi stepped nervously up to the door of the Captain's Ready Room and rung the bell, waiting impatiently for the door to swing open so she could get this over and done with. The sooner she familiarised herself with Captain James T. Kirk, the better. She could not, for the life of her, understand him whatsoever and that only made her nerves worse. She knew what her duties involved and knew what was expected of her but when it came to playful banter with her immediate commanding officer and her Captain, she was at a loss.

Elanore was so caught up in her thoughts that she barely had time to register the door sweeping open in front of her before she came to face Captain Kirk as he observed her leisurely from behind his desk. He had a data pad in front of him and was chewing on a pen, an odd combination for anyone else but somehow it seemed suiting for such a young, inexperienced man such as himself.

"Captain." Elanore greeted, letting a soft smile come to her lips briefly before she schooled her features again and finally took in his appearance.

Captain James T. Kirk was a tall man and had almost seemed to tower above her when she had first arrived, even though she was sure she wasn't too much shorter than he was. He had an air about him that screamed 'inflated ego' and a glint in his piercing blue eyes that said he was trouble. James T. Kirk was definitely an attractive man, Elanore couldn't deny that the way his eyes scooted over her appreciatively made her shiver slightly but at the same time, she wasn't about to fall under his spell like all the other girls. She was the Captain's Yeoman and it was the Yeoman's prerogative to resist the charms of her Captain, no matter what.

"Yeoman Troi, please take a seat." Elanore almost thought better of it before perching stiffly in the chair opposite Captain Kirk and placing her hands in her lap nervously.

"So, tell me something, Troi. What exactly does a Yeoman do?" Kirk finally asked and Elanore looked up in shock, meeting her Captain's eyes questioningly before clearing her throat.

"A Yeoman is the Captain's clerical and administrative aid, sir. Simply speaking, I'm here to make your life easier." Elanore responded and Kirk smiled brightly.

"Now that, I do need!" He replied sincerely, observing the clutter of paperwork and data pads strewn haphazardly across the desk with a grimace.

"How about I start in here, sir? I'm sure you have other pressing issues to attend to." Elanore prompted eagerly, wanting more than anything to begin her work and sort out some sort of system that would work for both herself and Captain Kirk.

"Sure, Troi. Make yourself at home!" The Captain said, rising from his chair, his face beaming happily at avoiding the torrent of work on his desk. He stepped around his desk and patted Elanore on the shoulder briskly before exiting his Ready Room. She looked back at the disgusting clutter on his desk again and sighed. She had a lot of work to do.
