First Date-Part Three

Over all dinner had gone very well and they had, had a wonderful time. They had talked and laughed about nothing and everything. Kagome had even taken an interest in Sesshomaru's family history and he in hers.

Turns out that they didn't actually have that much in common, but they really didn't care. They liked having each other around; it gave them a sense of peace and made them feel as if they were whole again. Now we find our young couple walking through the streets of downtown Tokyo.

Kagome had her arm laced through his and her head rested gently on his shoulder as they strolled through the somewhat busy sidewalks.

"I didn't realize the streets would be as busy as they are." Sesshomaru huffed as a man rushed past him holding multiple bags on his arms. "I would not have suggested such an idea if I'd have known."

Kagome smiled and squeezed his arm, effectively getting his attention. "It's ok Sessh. I kinda like watching the people bustle around shopping for Christmas presents."

The nickname she used, and the way it skated through the air and to his ears in such an enchanting tone, had his beast going wild. She must have had NO idea what she was doing to him. She was making his beast feel in a way it had never felt before.

'Wait,' He pondered momentarily. 'Did she say Christmas presents?!'

He groaned out loud and placed his free hand on his forehead while closing his eyes in pure embarrassment.

"Sesshy?" Kagome looked worriedly at him. "Are you alright?"

Golden orbs filled with slight worry and an insignificant amount of irritation opened, only to meet two oceans of blues filled with concern and worry.

He gave her a light smile and shook his head. "It is nothing to be concerned with, I can simply do it tomorrow."

"Do what?" She looked at him with a look that said, 'if you don't tell me I WILL find out.'

He swallowed hard. "I have been so busy lately that I have neglected my Christmas shopping for my daughter, Rin."

Kagome instantly brightened. "Well come on then." She tugged on his arm some more with determination alight in her azure orbs. "I will help you pick stuff out, I've always wanted to go shopping for a girl instead of for boy things!"

He smirked at her but let her pull him into a cute little toy store that held handmade wooden toys and many colorful items. Kagome began browsing immediately. "So," She asked as her eyes pierced every piece of wood and color, the eyes of an experienced shopper and mother, grazing everything. "How old is Rin?"

He smiled again as he watched her. "Rin is two," he paused, a thickness coating his voice. "She is completely human. She carries no demon blood in her."

Kagome looked at him in astonishment.

"Her mother was a blood witch, she did not want her child to have the childhood my half brother did." He paused and came to stand next to her. "Rin's mother got very sick after her birth and the doctors had put her on medications that she had once been addicted to."

Kagome grabbed his hand, giving a soft, comforting squeeze.

"She had overdosed. She had gone to sleep and never woke up."

He paused, looked at the young woman next to him and caressed her cheek with the back of his hand. "I can not say that I loved her mother, for I did not know her very well. But as long as Rin never discovers that her mother was a drug addict and got sick after her birth, I will be content with raising a human child."

He sighed and looked to a small wooden Inu Demon that seemed to draw his attention immediately. "Even if it means I shall out live my own daughter."

Kagome squeezed his hand harder. "It is more likely that she has no demon blood but has your lifespan if not at the least half. She may appear or even act human, but never judge a book by its cover, because 90% of the time if the cover does not describe what the book tells, people tend not to read it."

He looked at her in appreciation. "Thank you, not just for your kind words," He lifted the hand she had squeezed just moments before, and brought hers to his lips. "For helping me and for allowing me to have dinner with such an intriguing and perfect woman."
