Chp. 9: Bloody Mary
Jesse and Jacket peer over the car they were hiding behind and stare straight at the Latin Kings who were all pointing their guns at them.
"Señor Jacket, Bloody Mary wants to see you!" one of the Latin King gangsters said.
"Bloody Mary?" Jesse asked.
"Sofía Valentina. Goes by the nickname, Bloody Mary. Mainly due to the way she... deals with her victims. She's one of the Latin King's ring leaders," Jacket answered. "She must want us for something if she's taking us alive."
"But what for?" Jesse asked.
"No idea," Jacket said.
"And we may not have an option, but surrender," Jesse said.
"Are you nuts?" Jacket asked.
"Do you have any other suggestions?" Jesse asked.
Jacket glared at Jesse not speaking a word.
"Didn't think so," Jesse said.
Jacket sighed in frustration before turning his attention towards the Latin Kings.
"What do you nut jobs want?!" he called out.
"Like we said, Bloody Mary wants to see you!" one of the Latin King gangsters answered.
"Just get into your car and follow us," another gang member said.
Jesse and Jacket slowly stepped out from behind the car and slowly made their way to the Mustang, while the Latin Kings stepped into their cars as they still had their guns pointed at the two boys. Once everyone was in their cars, They all drove down the street with Jacket and Jesse in the middle.
Unknown House
Later at sunset, everyone drove up through a rundown neighborhood. Jacket parks the Mustang in front of a worn down, two story home. Jesse and Jacket stepped out of the car looking at the home in front of them. Two men stood on each side of the front door.
"She's waiting inside," one of the two men said, gesturing his hand at the door.
Jacket and Jesse walked up to the porch and stepped up to the front door. One of the two men opens the door as Jacket and Jesse step inside the house. The two boys stepped inside the living room and then saw a woman sitting on a recliner.
The woman wore a pair of gray sneakers, a pair of dark blue jeans, a black crop top, and a red bandana around her neck. Her skin is brown, her eyes are brown, has a piercing on the side of her nose, and long black hair.
The woman looked towards Jacket and Jesse.
"Good. You're here," the woman said.
"I'm guessing you're that Blood Mary chick everyone's been talking about?" Jesse asked.
"The one and only," the woman known as Bloody Mary answered.
"What do you want?" Jacket asked.
"I have a use for you and your aura," Bloody Mary answered.
"You know we have aura?!" Jacket asked.
"I have been watching you both. I have done my research and more. I know you, Jacket have been casted out by your own partner, kicked out of the Black Disciples, and that your girl had been cheating on you for quite some time," Bloody Mary answered.
Jacket growled in anger, tightening his fists.
"Now back to what I want from you niños. I have a job for you," Bloody Mary said.
"What kind of job?" Jacket asked.
"A heist," Bloody Mary answered.
"What kind of heist?" Jesse asked.
"A bank heist of course," Bloody Mary answered.
"I want nothing to do with it," Jesse said.
"What's in it for me?" Jacket asked.
"Jacket?!" Jesse exclaimed.
"We'll help you get your little revenge on Cy," Bloody Mary said.
"I'm in," Jacket said.
"What?!" Jesse exclaimed.
"Could you give us a minute?" Jacket asked as grabbed Jesse's shoulder.
He tugged Jesse away and pulled him to a corner as they faced away from Bloody Mary.
"Are you nuts?" Jesse asked.
"What? This could be our chance to put Cy six feet under," Jacket said.
"By helping them rob a bank?! I promised my friend that I would not get involved into gang activity," Jesse said. "Besides, I don't trust this woman. I feel like she'll just throw us away once she's done with us."
"You spineless motherfucker. We have an open door chance here, and now you want to back down?!" Jacket asked.
"I want one that doesn't involve robbing people!" Jesse answered.
"Look who's talking! You pick people's pockets for their cold hard cash!" Jacket argued.
"I only did that just so I can have a roof to sleep under and have a full belly!" Jesse retorted. "And what about you? You rob people for luxury, comfort, exotic taste, and just for the fun of it!"
"It was never fun for me! I'm only in it to survive!" Jacket said. "If you don't want to do it, then fine! But I'm not wasting a good opportunity to take out Cy."
Jesse stared at Jacket for a moment before turning around and walking towards. He turned his head to face Jacket once more.
"Keep the guns if you want," Jacket said.
"Why?" Jesse asked.
"Just in case. It may come in handy one day," Jacket answered.
Jesse rolled his eyes and walked out of the front door and closed it behind him. Jacket turned and approached Bloody Mary.
"I suppose we have a deal?" she asked.
"Yes," Jacket answered.
"Good. You can sleep here for the night," Bloody Mary said as she stood from her chair.
She gestured to Jacket to follow as she walked out of the living room. Jacket followed Bloody Mary out of the living room.
John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County
Later at the hospital, Jesse was sitting next to Teresa who was laying on her bed still in a coma. Jesse moved his hand up to Teresa's bed and grabbed on to her hand. He stroked her hand with his thumb as he gave out a sigh.
"I'm sorry, Teresa," Jesse said.
He bowed his head in exhaustion, rubbing his eyes with his other hand. A moment later, Jesse felt a soft grip on his hand. He turned his head to the bed to see Teresa's hand grabbing on to Jesse's hand. He looked over to Teresa's face to see her head shift. Teresa 's eyes slowly opened and shifted towards Jesse's direction.
"Jesse?" Teresa spoke.
"Teresa. You're awake!" Jesse said.
"Where... am I?" Teresa asked.
"You're in the hospital. You got hit by a hit-and-run driver," Jesse answered.
"Oh... That's right," Teresa said.
"I am so sorry, Teresa," Jesse said.
"What for?" Teresa asked.
"I ran. Instead of helping you," Jesse answered.
"It wasn't your fault, Jesse. Neither of us didn't see the car coming and we didn't have time to think," Teresa said.
"But still... I wish I could have done something," Jesse said.
"Well... you're here aren't you? Just being here is enough for me," Teresa said as she placed her hand on Jesse's cheek.
Jesse gave out a sigh as he placed his hand on Teresa's hand as his eyes began to water.
Bloody Mary Household
Meanwhile back at the home of Bloody Mary, Jacket was laying on a bed sleeping. The door opened and in came Bloody Mary wearing a black bath robe. She approaches a sleeping Jacket while she undo's the belt on her robe. Bloody Mary slips her robe off now completely naked as she stared down at Jacket.
"There is something else I want from you," she whispered as she leaned in closer to Jacket.
