A/N
Just a small note today. I realized that at the start of chapter 3 I said that a fully unsealed Tsuya isn't as strong as Pain or Obito. I meant to say that he is above Pain but below unstable 10 tails Obito. That's it. With 8 gates or 9 tails cloak he is above 10 tails Madara. That's it for today.
Two days before the chunin exams started
Sasuke and Sakura were walking around when they ran into Konohamaru. A few weeks prior Sasuke had become friends of a sort with Konohamaru and even taught him a few things. "Hey boss! What're you doing?" He yelled out. "I'm going to get a mission." Sasuke was pretty tired, he was up late training. After hearing about Tsuya's abilities he was inspired to try and be better. Though he would never admit it. "Ooooh. That sounds like fun. Can I join you?" "No." "Awww. Why not?" "Because I said so." "Does it have anything to do with flat chest over there?" At that moment Sasuke stopped. He felt a chill run up his spine, a feeling he was all too familiar with after the bridge incident. "Konohamaru, run. Run as fast as you can." "You wanna say that again punk?" Sakura asked as she cracked her knuckles. Konohamaru was scared and he bolted. He ran as fast as he could. Too busy looking behind him he ran into someone. They were wearing a black cat suit with purple makeup on their face. He had something attached to his back that was wrapped up in bandages. "Hey! Watch where you're going punk!" The kid said as he picked up the child. "I think you need to be taught a lesson." The boy said with a smirk on his face. "Just leave the kid be Kankuro." Said a girl who was right next to him. "And why should I? This kid needs to be taught a lesson Temari." The now identified Kankuro said. "You don't want Gara getting on our case do you? Just put the kid down." Temari said. "Well Gara isn't around right now." They were made aware of two sharp points at their necks as a new voice spoke up from behind them. "I would suggest you put the boy down. Especially since you're in another village, surrounded by potential enemies. And that is the current Hokage's grandson." "Tsuya? What are you doing here?" Sakura asked. Sasuke arrived at that moment.
Kankuro and Temari were sweating in a mixture of nervousness and fear. 'How the hell did this guy get behind us? Wait, did he say this was the Hokage's grandson!?' Were the thoughts of Kankuro. Kankuro let go of Konohamaru and put his hands up. "Good. Now then, are you just gonna keep hiding behind that tree or are you going to show yourself Mr. One?" Tsuya seemingly asked to a tree. Just then, a boy with red hair walked out onto a branch. 'Shit. It's Gara. When did he get here? How did that guy know who he was?' Kankuro thought in a panic. Temari was having similar thoughts, mostly questioning who this guy was. "You. Mother says that you're strong. What's your name?" Gara asked. "Tsuya. Were you not listening when my friends asked why I was here or were you asleep?" Tsuya was trying to get a response out of Gara. From what he had heard, the ichibi jinchuuriki was very unstable and prone to outbursts of rage and bloodlust. He didn't necessarily want to fight him, at least not yet, but he was trying to see just how unstable he was. Temari and Kankuro were terrified. What was this guy thinking? He clearly knew who Gara was and yet he was still provoking him. Did he have a death wish? They would never know. "You are… interesting." "I don't swing that way. Sorry." Tsuya said. At this Gara gave a sinister smile. "Kankuro, Temari, we're leaving." He said as he jumped down to the ground and started walking away.
As they were walking away, Sasuke and Sakura walked up to Tsuya. This was the first time they had met in over a month. "So Tsuya, what have you been doing?" Sakura asked. At first, when she found out that he was a jinchuuriki she was scared, but after about a week she realized that he's been one for a long time. When she found out nothing about him had changed. "Nothing much. I helped Zabuza and Haku integrate with Konoha and I've done a bit of training. The ANBU detail attached to me was also removed so I have more personal space now." Sasuke was a little surprised that he still trained but he had a more pressing question. "You called that guy Mr. One. Does that mean he's another jinchuuriki?" "Oh, so you actually looked it up. Yes, he is the ichibi jinchuuriki. If you ever see him during the exam I would suggest you run. As fast as you can." "That strong huh?" "When he works with Shukaku, yes. Well, works with might be a stretch but the point is: run. Unless you think you can beat Zabuza and Haku together." Tsuya said. "Wait, who's Shukaku.?" Sakura asked. "The ichibi. All of the bijuu have names but they don't give them out easily." "Why not?" "If your dad only left you with a name and all, or at least most, of the humans you ever met tried to attack you would you easily give them your name?" "I guess not." "Tsuya," Sasuke started, "can you tell me more about seals? I've been meaning to ask you after we last spoke." Sasuke normally wasn't willing to ask for help of any kind, but Tsuya was different. As it stood Tsuya was way out of his league. So for him it was like asking for help from a teacher. "Maybe after the chunin exams. For now, I need to get going. I'm supposed to be meeting up with Hiruzen. Tomorrow I'm probably going to be training all day so I probably won't be available. See ya around." Tsuya said as he walked away.
At the Hokage tower
Tsuya had arrived in Hiruzen's office. "I've come to give my final report on Zabuza and Haku. I'm pleased to say that they know their way around and they have accustomed to the culture. I believe that they no longer need help or surveillance." Tsuya said. "Good. Is there anything else?" "Not on that matter, however, Suna has sent their jinchuuriki to take part in the chunin exams. I thought you should know." "Thank you. If that is all then you're dismissed." Tsuya nodded as he left. He was tempted to tell Hiruzen that there was going to be an invasion but if he did then he didn't think he could stop it. Sometimes the best thing to do is spring the enemy trap and deal with it.
Today was the day, the chunin exams start today. He wasn't much for waiting so he decided to show up just before it started. Unfortunately for him, he wasn't late enough to avoid some of the drama. He walked in and up the first flight of stairs only to see Sasuke announcing that it was a genjutsu. 'That moron. That was supposed to weed out the contestants.' After that he was challenged by Rock Lee. 'Wait, Lee passed the test and became a genin? Surprising." Tsuya was surprised that Lee, a person with chakra coils too small to even break the smallest genjutsu, became a genin considering that to pass the final test you had to perform the academy 3. It didn't matter if you passed everything else, if you failed the academy 3 you didn't graduate. So to see him here was a surprise. And unfortunately it seemed someone from his team noticed and recognized him. "So you are here. I had heard rumors that you had graduated with this year's batch." Neji Hyuga. The man with the biggest stick up his ass that anyone could ever meet. If it was any bigger he might be dead. "Neji. I see you haven't changed." "Tsuya, is that you? Yosh, my rival has returned!" Lee shouted. "It's good to see you too, Lee." "What, don't I get a hello?" Tenten asked. "Hello." "Wow. That's all I get? How rude." "You know these people?" Sakura asked. "Yes, they were a part of my class before I left the academy. And before you ask, no, they are not as strong as me." "I see you haven't changed either." Neji said. "I have. I just don't want to be here right now. I purposely got here late so that I wouldn't have to deal with anything like this." Tsuya really didn't want to deal with this. Then he noticed Sai. "I see you're my replacement. Don't get yourself killed. Or the others for that matter." He walked up stairs without another word. Sasuke and Lee had their spar as usual, only this time Sasuke fared a bit better. Tsuya simply entered the waiting room. As soon as he did he felt an inkling of killing intent. In response he released a little of his until the others subsided. After the others had joined them and were making a ruckus, which they just so happened to be right next to him, a white haired man joined them. Then he noticed something interesting, there were 3 other jinchuuriki in the room. He knew Gara was one of them but he didn't know who the other two were. He felt around for a moment before he had locked onto them. He looked towards one to find a thin mint-haired girl. He flared the smallest amount of kyuubi chakra, just enough for the other bijuu to sense it from within their hosts. The mint haired girl seemed to notice it and sent out some of her own. They made eye contact for a moment and she sent him a smile. Then one of the people next to her slapped her and told her something that Tsuya couldn't make out because of the conversation behind him. He looked around a little more until the other unknown jinchuuriki sent out some as well. It was a moderately well endowed blonde girl. She looked towards him and they also made eye contact. She looked away after a moment. 'Interesting. There are four bijuu in this room. A rare occurrence.' Tsuya thought to himself. "Indeed." Kurama said. Kurama couldn't help but think that something bad would happen. It was only a few moments later that he heard his name coming from the group behind him. Apparently someone was giving out information and Sasuke wanted some on him. "Let's see here. Ah, here it is. It says that he was completed 298 D-ranks, 67 C-ranks, 2 A-rank and… what the fuck is this. It says that he's completed over 120 missions that were unranked. I've never seen this before." "What about his abilities?" "Ah yes, extreme skill in taijutsu and ninjutsu. Has shown nothing as far as genjutsu. However, he is a seal master. He has massive chakra reserves and has close ties with the Hokage. He has over 1,000 confirmed kills and he was only in the academy for a month before graduating. What the hell is going on?" Kabuto was shocked. He had never seen anything like this. "He's from Konoha but he mysteriously disappeared for about four years." "If you wanted to know, you could've just asked." Tsuya said. "What the hell are you?" Kiba asked. "I'm a fox." Tsuya said with a smile. "Now then, since you're giving out information, I want information on the mint haired girl over there," he pointed towards the one girl he saw earlier, "and on the blonde chick over there. You got anything?" He said as he pointed towards the blonde girl. "I can get information on the mint haired girl but which blonde one?" "The dirty blonde, not the sun kissed blonde." "Okay. The first one is named Fuu of Taki. She is disliked in her village for whatever reason. She has 43 D-ranks, 12 C-ranks, and 1 B-rank. She is skilled in water jutsu and uses bugs. As for the other one. Her name is Nii Yugito, a kunoichi from Kumo. She has 143 D-ranks, 36 C-ranks, and 13 B-ranks. It says here that she is extremely skilled in fire jutsu and moderately skilled in lightning jutsu. It also says that she has unnatural flexibility and high chakra reserves." Tsuya gave a meaningful look towards Sasuke and Sakura. "And what of Gara of the sand?" Sasuke and Sakura's eyes widened as they understood what he was hinting at. "A boy from Suna with an unknown number of D-ranks, 16 C-ranks, and 3 B-ranks. His abilities aren't known but it says that he has returned from every mission without a scratch." Kabuto was shocked. So was everyone else around them. 'How the hell are there genin like this? Most genin can't even get assigned a B-rank let alone multiple or even A-rank. And how the hell does that kid have 120 unranked missions?' These were the thoughts of Kabuto. Before anyone could ask anything else someone slammed the door open. It was Ibiki Morino. "Quiet maggots! We're about to start the first exam! First the rules: You will have one hour to answer a 10 question test! The 10th and final question will only be given during the last 10 minutes! You will be put into random seats! If you are caught cheating 5 times, you and your team will be disqualified! No asking questions! Now follow me into the testing room!" He yelled. As he walked out of the waiting room. Everyone was lined up outside the door to the testing kick. Each student was assigned a random number and seat. Inside the testing room the walls were lined with chunin. After everyone had sat in their seats Ibiki declared the start of the test. Everyone flipped over their papers and started looking at the questions. Except Tsuya. He flipped over the paper but he didn't even look at the questions. He just started playing with his pencil. He already knew that the questions would be too hard for nearly any normal genin to answer. It was fairly obvious. As soon as people noticed this they would react which made it easy to tell who was actually a planted chunin as they would just start trying to answer the questions. After about 10 minutes everyone realized what the point was, cheat without getting caught. But Tsuya had no plans to do that. What was the point if he could openly cheat once and get all the answers. He looked around and noticed the different ways people were cheating. Tenten set up a mirror system to look at other people's papers, Gara created a sand eye to look around, Neji used his byakugan, Kiba used Akamaru, Shino used his bugs, Sasuke used his sharingan to copy someone's hand movements, but there were a couple special people. Shikamaru could answer the questions but it was too bothersome so he just wrote whatever on his paper. Sakura just answered the questions and Lee attempted to but there wasn't much he could do. During the exam, several teams were kicked out for cheating. After what amounted to 45 minutes of boredom for Tsuya, Ibiki made the announcement that there was only 15 minutes left. Tsuya took that as his cue and stood up. He walked over to one of the chunin that was planted in the exam and took his paper back to his seat. He sat back down and erased the name already on there and wrote his own on it. He then crumbled up his original paper and threw it to the chunin who's paper he had stolen. "I like your style, kid. Before anyone else gets any ideas, the next person to do that gets immediately disqualified." "Why does he get special treatment?" "Because he was the only one with the balls to think of something like that. Now shut up and continue your test." After a few more minutes Ibiki told everyone to put their pencils down. "Now then, the 10th question is special! You can choose to take it! However, if you take it and you get it wrong you will be a genin forever! But if you don't take it then you can just walk out right now!" Some people cried out saying it wasn't far and that some people here were retaking the exam. "Too bad! My test, my rules!" After a couple moments some people gave into the pressure and quit, taking their teams with them. Ibiki, seeing that no one else was willing to quit spoke again. "Seeing as the rest of you don't plan to leave, I only have one thing left to say! You all pass!" "Wait, then what about the rest of the test?" Someone asked. "You seem like you've figured it out, tell them." Ibiki said motioning to Tsuya. "*Sigh. The first portion was a mental test as well as an information gathering test. If you gave into the pressure or you couldn't get the information discretely then you weren't ready to be a chunin which are supposed to be leaders. The last question was the actual 10th question, designed to test if you were willing to take the risk. It is quite the mind game if I may say so myself. Though given your reputation that isn't much of a surprise." "Why thank you. What he said is true. Now then-" Ibiki was interrupted by class breaking, a person flying in through the window, and a banner appearing that read "The Sexy and Single Anko Mitarashi." "Wow, there sure are a lot of kids here Ibiki. Are you losing your touch Ibiki?" Anko asked. "You're early." Was all Ibiki said. He grumbled about how he was just complimented before Anko showed up. "Oh well. Meet me at training ground 44 in 30 minutes!" She yelled before she left. Everyone there started to head out the door. Tsuya rounded a corner and then disappeared before anyone could question him.
Tsuya instantly arrived at training ground 44, getting there just before Anko. "Wha-how did you get here before me brat?" She asked, annoyed. "You're just slow. Can you go ahead and give me the form so I can sign it before the others get here?" "Damn brat. Go ahead and grab it, it's just inside the booth over there." Tsuya went over to it and quickly signed one of the forms. He walked over to the fence and sat down, leaning against it. 'Just who in the hell is this brat? He got here before me and he already knew about the form.' After 20 minutes the rest of the teams had arrived. "Alright, now that everyone is here we can get started. Welcome to my home away from home. Training ground 44 also known as… the forest of death. Now before we can get started I need you all to sign a form saying that Konoha can't be held responsible for your deaths. And oh yes, there will be deaths. Just the thought of all the blood makes me excited." She passed out a form to be spread around. After everyone had signed it she started again. "The rules are simple, you'll have 5 days to reach the tower in the center of the forest. But you have to arrive with both a heaven and an earth scroll. Before we start, each team will head into the booth where one of you will randomly be picked to hold one of the two scrolls you need. You'll have to take the other scroll you need from one of the other teams." The teams started heading into the booth one by one to receive their scroll. There they were also told which gate they would be at. After that everyone started heading to their gates. Conveniently, Tsuya was at the front gate so he didn't have to go anywhere. After everyone had left and before Anko could make the announcement to start the exam Tsuya said something. "I know you want to go after Orochimaru, but don't. The only thing you'll do is injure yourself and endanger the credibility of the chunin exams." "How did you know?" "There was a person with kage level reserves who wasn't a jinchuuriki or a member of any particular clan. It was pretty suspicious. That combined with the fact that she reeked of snakes made it a dead give away. Alert Hiruzen after the exam has started but don't chase him on your own." Anko was pretty pissed off that some brat was telling her what to do but she knew he was right. "Fine." With that said she started the chunin exams and Tsuya disappeared in a burst of speed. Normally he would just vanish but he was planning on thinning out the competition a little. He could have set a speed record if he wanted to but he didn't really care about setting any kind of record. As he went around he had taken out several teams such as a couple teams from rain, one team from Suna, and one team from Kumo. By the time he had reached the starting locations of any of the other teams they were either already gone or too far for him to care. He wasn't killing them, only knocking them out and burning their scroll. After about an hour he came across his main target: Orochimaru the snake sannin. When he noticed him he was in an open field. He put on his mask to hide who he was and hoping to get the jump on him he released the gravity seals. Dashed after him in a burst of speed. He had hoped that he might be able to surprise him and kill him but he was only able to cut his arm off. 'Who the hell is this kid?! He nearly got the drop on me!' Orochimaru was a little scared. To him, some random kid nearly killed him. He jumped back and knowing that there was no point in wearing a disguise he did his skin shedding jutsu. 'I was hoping that would've worked. Well, now I just need to scare him off.' Tsuya knew that this could ruin the chunin exams but he needed to make sure Orochimaru didn't get whatever he wanted. "What are you here for Orochimaru?" Tsuya asked in a monotone voice. "I just wanted to give a certain candidate a gift. Is there something wrong with that?" "You call a fucking cursed seal a gift? What the hell is wrong with you? 'Is he talking about Sasuke? From what I've heard he's quite obsessed with getting the sharingan. Or is he trying to get… No, that wouldn't make sense. He knows that there is nothing he could do with a jinchuuriki. So Sasuke must be his target.' Why are you here? Other than to get the sharingan." 'Oh, he's smart. I'm going to have to tread lightly here.' "How did you know I was here?" "I'm the one asking questions, now are you going to answer or is I&T going to have to get it out of you?" As he was saying this he was preparing a space jutsu to hopefully tear Orochimaru in half. Then as if they were given a cue, they both dashed to the side, Tsuya activated his jutsu but he was only able to blast part of the torso. He was hoping to blow him into two parts. He was able to damage his spine so he had to use the skin shedding jutsu again. As he thought, Tsuya created his black sword and stabbed Orochimaru. He was only able to graze his new body. 'Slippery bastard.' Orochimaru ran away, he didn't think he could win easily, if at all. "Dammit. I should go find Sasuke and Sakura. I hope Orochimaru hasn't already gotten to them." With that, Tsuya expanded his senses with chakra and he quickly located them. He started making his way to them but by the time he got there it was too late. Orochimaru had apparently gotten there before Tsuya had gotten to him. He jumped down and landed in front of them and took his mask off. The new kid, Sai, was severely injured and laying next to Sasuke under a tree. "Sakura, how long has it been since Sasuke got the mark?" Tsuya wasted no time. "It's been about an hour. How did you know he was marked? And how did you know where we were?" "I ran into Orochimaru. But what matters right now is trying to get that cursed seal off of him. If we don't, it could cause all sorts of problems. Here are the scrolls you need. I'll be back in a little bit with new scrolls for myself. Don't go anywhere until I get back." Tsuya didn't wait for a response as he disappeared in a burst of speed.
30 minutes later Tsuya returned with his new scrolls. He picked up Sasuke and threw him over his shoulder. He grabbed Sai and put him over his shoulder. "Sakura, climb on my back. We need to get going immediately." Sakura was too surprised with the recent events to really question it so she climbed onto Tsuyua's back. It was a little difficult because of Sasuke's and Sai's bodies. "I'm ready." She said once she got a good enough grip. Tsuya nodded and pumped chakra into his legs as he ran off. He made it to the tower in 12 seconds. He carefully set down the bodies after Sakura got off. "Give me the scrolls." Tsuya said. "Yeah. Here." Tsuya quickly opened the scrolls and threw them onto the ground. Kakashi appeared, surprised that he got summoned so early. Then he saw Sasuke and Sai laying on the ground. "What happened?" Kakashi asked. "We don't have time for that. Go get Hiruzen and find an empty room I can use. Also, I need you to get me a brush, 30 liters of ink, medical supplies, and a death row inmate. Hurry!' "Why? What's going on?" "Orochimaru was here and he marked Sasuke. Now go!" Kakashi didn't ask anymore questions. "There's an empty room on the 5th floor. Room 507." Kakashi said right before he disappeared. He shunshin to the Hokage tower and knocked hurriedly on Hiruzen's door and opened the door before waiting for a response. "Lord Third! There's an emergency! Orochimaru has been spotted in the forest of death! And he marked Sasuke! Tsuya is taking care of it but he told me to tell you!" Kakashi yelled as soon as he got through the door. He hadn't even bothered as he knew that he was probably doing paperwork. Which he was right. "What!? He's here?! What do you mean that Tsuya is taking care of it?!" "Tsuya was going to try to do something, I think he's going to try and remove it. I need to quickly go get the materials so he can get started. I'll meet you at the tower." Kakashi said and he disappeared just as quickly as he got there.
5 minutes later Kakashi had returned to the tower with the materials and the prisoner Tsuya needed. He walked into the room and quickly handed the stuff to Tsuya and placed the prisoner down next to him. He was unconscious. "Thank you. I already stopped the cursed seal from spreading." Tsuya said as he grabbed the supplies. He took a syringe from the medical bag and put it tinto Sasuke's shoulder. He activated part of the cursed seal and used the syringe to pull out a mixture of blood and some chemical that is used to activate the cursed seal. Then he started drawing all over the ground with the brush. There were two person sized circles of kanji on the ground next to each other surrounded by a large circle of kanji. He quickly placed Sasuke into the left one and the prisoner in the other. He stopped for a moment and took a quick breath. "What are you doing?" Kakashi asked. "Something I might regret. Alright, here we go." Tsuya suddenly unleashed all of his negative emotions. He filled his mind with countless malicious thoughts which affected his chakra. He then poured his chakra into a seal. After that he went into a meditative position to calm himself. After a minute he put the seal with his chakra onto the prisoner. "Kakashi, when I give you the signal I need you to touch Sasuke's shoulder with the cursed seal to the prisoner's shoulder. I just hope this works." At that moment, Tsuya activated the large sealing array on the ground. He then injected the chemical into the prisoner's shoulder and activated the seal on him. He then had to use his chakra to keep the chemical from leaving the spot on the shoulder and keep his chakra from expelling itself. He put his right hand on Sasuke's shoulder and broke the seal around the cursed seal. "Now!" He yelled. He was too busy keeping all the chakra flowing around and keeping everything in place to be able to move their bodies. Hey, multitasking with chakra while also trying to control a chemical you've never actually seen before wasn't easy. Sure, he could've used clones, but he didn't know how long it would take or how much chakra it was going to take. Just the set up for all the seals took a lot of concentration and a decent chunk of chakra. As he was keeping everything in place he saw that the cursed seal had started to migrate from Sasuke to the prisoner. After 5 agonizing minutes, for Sasuke and the prisoner anyway, the process was over. Sasuke and the prisoner both woke up part way into the process screaming in pain. After it was over Sasuke gave Tsuya a weak smile and tried to say something but he passed out before he could. The prisoner Was lying on the ground screaming in pain. He wasn't compatible with the seal and his body started transforming. By the time it was over his body was a gross tan color and he had what looked like giant frog legs growing out of his back. His eyes had changed into something similar to Tsuya's when he used Kurama's chakra, orange irises with slit pupils. "What the fuck happened to him?" Kakashi asked in disgust. "That's what a cursed seal can do. The fact that they aren't illegal is astonishing." Tsuya said.
The following day
Tsuya found out that Gara and his team had arrived at the tower almost a full hour before he did. He wasn't too surprised. After he helped out Sasuke he went to his room and crashed. He let Kakashi tell the Hokage what had happened. He knew he was going to give Hiruzen the details on what happened. Anko would likely be there as he told her to inform Hiruzen of Orochimaru's presence, but for whatever reason she hadn't done so while Tsuya was in the forest. Now he was in the highest room in the tower with Hiruzen and Anko. It was a place for the Hokage to do his paperwork while also keeping an eye on the exam. "Tell me everything." Hiruzen said. "Sir. During the first part of the exam I noticed there was a genin with kage level reserves and they didn't appear to be a part of any notable clan. I thought it was odd but I didn't do anything as I wasn't sure. At the start of the second exam there was an incident. During which I noticed that the genin in question reeked of snakes. I put two and two together and figured out it was Orochimaru. But I didn't want to cause an incident, especially with the future generation of shinobi right there. As soon as the exam started I ran around the perimeter of the forest and eliminated some teams along the way. Once I found Orochimaru I tried to get the jump on him. It didn't quite work and he ended up getting away. I learned that he was after Sasuke so I searched the forest until I found team 7. I took them to the tower and told Kakashi to inform you when he appeared from the smoke. You know the rest." "I see. Do you have any idea where he could have gone?" "Unfortunately no. He's a slippery bastard as I'm sure you're aware. He doesn't leave any traces so I couldn't track him down either. But if I had to guess, he's probably hiding out somewhere in the forest surrounding the village." "I see. Is there anything else?" "Yes, I would keep my eye on anyone from Kusa. He was disguised as a Kusa genin so it's possible he has ties with them or has his base around there." Hiruzen was surprised. After just one interaction, Tsuya might have figured out something that the entire Konoha spy network couldn't figure out in over 10 years. Anko was just shocked. At first she was a little angry with the brat telling her what to do, more so because he was right, but now she was just shocked. There he was, a kid acting like a veteran shinobi giving a report. "Excuse me Lord Third, but just who is this kid?" Anko asked. She couldn't help it. "An asset of the village as well as one of the shinobi with the greatest potential we've ever had. Tsuya, is there anything else to report." Hiruzen quickly answered Anko before returning to his conversation with Tsuya. "Just one more thing, the ichibi jinchuuriki is here and participating in the chunin exams. He is rather unstable." "Thank you. You're dismissed." Tsuya walked out the room. 'Who the hell is that kid?' Anko had no idea who he was but she was determined to find out.
The second exam was over and everyone had gathered in the arena on the first floor. Hiruzen was giving a speech about what a shinobi is and what not but Tsuya wasn't listening to it, so neither will you. All he cared about was that there was going to be a preliminary round before the chunin exam finals. Some random name Hayate stepped up and explained the rules. One on one matches, no time limit, match ends if someone is incapacitated, killed , feorefeits, or he decalres it to be over. Everything was permitted. Before they could go any further, Kabuto and his team forfeited, so did Sai. It was also announced that both of Fuu's teammates weren't capable of participating so they were disqualified. Then all the remaining participants pulled a paper out of a box to see who their opponent was. The match ups were as such: Shino vs Dosu, Kankuro vs Omoi, Yugito vs Sakura, Fuu vs Zaku, Samui vs Ino, Shikamaru vs Choji, Temari vs Tenten, Sasuke vs Kin, Neji vs Hinata, Gara vs Kiba, and lastly Tsuya vs Lee. Everyone went up to the balcony on either side of the arena except Shino and Dosu. There they saw their senseis waiting for them. While they were waiting for the match to start, Sasuke, Sakura, and Tsuya had all headed over to Kiba to tell him of his imminent danger. "Kiba, I know you're not going to like this but you need to forfeit if you value your life." Sakura said. Sasuke simply nodded. "Agreed." Tsuya said. Kiba, who was already contemplating it after what he had seen in the forest, was about to announce it when Kurenai spoke up from right behind him. "Why are you telling him to forfeit?" "The mentally unstable disaster that Kiba got paired up with, well I'll put it this way. If he is Mr. One, then the thin blonde over there is Ms. Two, the mint head is Ms. Seven, and… Oh, there's another one here. The man behind the blonde is Mr. Eight. I am Mr. Nine. Do you get it now?" Tsuya said. Kurenai paled as she realized what it meant for Kiba. "Kiba. When you get called down to the arena, forfeit." The other genin near them were curious as to what Tsuya meant they didn't ask. "Okay." Kiba said. "There is nothing wrong with backing down from a fight you can't win. You made the right decision." Tsuya said as he went to the edge of the railing to watch the match.
When he was sensing for the other jinchuuriki just to make sure he hadn't messed up he noticed there was another one, the hachibi jinchuuriki. When he prodded a little the man simply looked at him and chuckled a little. He turned towards Yugito, the nibi jinchuuriki. "Mr. Nine saw us, I think he notused." Yugito looked toward Tsuya. "You can't just say a word with an accent so you can rhyme it." "Sure I can bro. Cause that's how I roll." Yugito's face palmed and looked back towards the arena as the match was starting.
(During all these fights you can insert whatever bickering you want as I'm not very good at adding conversation to combat. Especially when I'm using characters I don't know very well like Samui, Dosu, and Fuu.)
Hayate had just started the first match. Shino immediately jumped back to gain some distance and so did Dosu. Shino tried sending out his bugs to drain Dosu of his chakra as he threw some kunai to attempt to injure Dosu and to gauge his abilities. Dosu easily dodged the kunai. Dosu could hear the bugs and decided to go on the offensive. He started to generate sound waves to attack the bugs and Shino. The bugs quickly died from the extremely loud noise and Shino was in pain. He fell to the ground clutching his head in pain. He let out a scream in agony. He quickly forfeited and Hayate called the match.
Dosu returned to the balcony without ever saying a word. Once Shino recovered from the excruciating pain he went back up to the balcony as Kankuro and Omoi returned to the arena.
Hayate started the match and Kankuro jumped back and brought out his first puppet. Omoi dashed forward and drew his sword to try and get a quick victory against Kankuro. However, Kankuro attacked Omoi with karasu. It blocked Omoi's sword with two of its arms and attacked with the other two. Omoi disengaged and jumped back. But he didn't notice the senbon being launched at him. He yelled in pain. He pulled the senbon out and dashed after Kankuro again. This time Omoi got around karasu and nearly got to Kankuro when he was stabbed in the leg by a puppet arm. He ignored it and channeled lighting through his blade and prepared for a frontal strike. Kankuro managed to dodge and avoid a lethal strike but he was still cut on his leg. The electricity paralyzing him for a moment. Omoi went for another strike when he suddenly collapsed. The poison Kankuro had put on the senbon had finally taken effect. Omoi was still awake. "There's nothing you can do. The poison I put on the senbon lasts several hours. But don't worry, it's not lethal." Kankuro said in a pained voice. Hayate called the match and the medics came out to get Omoi.
Kankuro headed up to the balcony as he only had a cut on his leg. Sakura and Yugito headed down. There's nothing to say about what happened. Sakura got the crap beat out of her and Yugito didn't even break a sweat. Sure Sakura had been training lately but it was too little too late. She got her ass kicked. "Damn fangirl. The disgrace of all kunoichi." Yugito said as she returned to the balcony. Sakura was carried out by the medical team. Fuu and Zaku headed down to the arena. Not much to say here either, Fuu plugged his air tubes with bugs after he launched his first attack and his arms were destroyed. Next up was Samui and Ino. No different than Yugito's and Sakura's fight. Now it was Choji and Shikamaru's turn.
"What a drag. I'm sorry about this Choji." Shikamaru said. "No it's not your fault." Choji said. Hayate started the match. Choji wouldn't attack or do anything. "Come on Choji, we don't have all day here." "But I don't wanna." "Hey fatass. Come on. Let's get this fight started." Shikamaru said. It hurt him to say that to his friend but he knew that if he didn't Choji wouldn't fight. "How could you say that! I'm not fat!" Choji yelled in anger. He ran at Shikamaru and enlarged his hand to try and slam it down on Shikamaru. Shikamaru dodged out of the way and made some distance. He made his plan. He threw a few kunai at Choji from a distance. He knew how Choji would react. His human bullet tank. Choji started rolling towards Shikamura and at the last second he stepped out of the way and left his foot ther, launching Choji into the air. This caused him to lose his stance and he fell to the ground. Shikamaru simply put a kunai to his back and he surrendered. "Sorry Choji. You know I didn't mean it." "I know." They both walked back up to the balcony.
Temari vs Tenten is just like cannon. "That was a crappy match up." Tsuya said. Everyone sweat dropped. 'Ge, really? We couldn't tell.' They all thought. Next was Sasuke vs Kin. Nothing special here. Sasuke knocks her over and pins her down before she can even do anything. Then it was Neji vs Hinata. So this time, it's even more of a one sided match than it is in cannon. In cannon, Hinata had Naruto to look up to and pull strength. This time she doesn't. So basically like cannon until the very end. Hayate had declared the match over but Neji didn't care. He was going for the finishing blow. But it never came. "Hinata. Stand up. If you ever want to prove Neji wrong then you're going to have to fight back. So stand up. Prove to me that this wasn't a waste of time." Tsuya said while standing in front of her. She was so busy crying on the floor that she hadn't even noticed Tsuya appear in front of her. "But, but I can't. How could I do anything? I'm just-" "What you were doesn't matter. What matters is what you do moving forward. Now prove to me this isn't a waste of time." Tsuya cut her off. She opened her eyes to look at Tsuya and they immediately widened. Right before Neji could land the finishing blow, Tsuya appeared in between them and stopped Neji's attack with two fingers. Hinata was too stunned at the sight of Tsuya standing over her, casually holding off Neji's attack with just two fingers. She was speechless, as was everyone else. "So are you telling me this was a waste of time?" Tsuya asked, snapping Hinata out of her stupor. "N-no!" She shouted as she stood up. "Good." Tsuya calmly walked back up to the balcony. Moments later the medical team came in to get Hinata. "Tsuya, while I thank you for intervening, you shouldn't have gone that far. And Neji. When I say the match is over that means the match is over. If it happens again you'll be disqualified. Do I make myself clear?" Hayate asked. "Yes sir." Neji said with disgust. He headed to the balcony.
"Now then. Gara and Kiba. Please come down to the ring." Gara quickly went to the middle of the arena. "It's okay Kiba. Like Tsuya said earlier. There's nothing wrong with avoiding a guaranteed loss." Kurenai said. "Proctor, I forfeit!" Kiba yelled from the balcony. Gara glared at him from the arena. "Very well. Winner: Gara. Tsuya and Lee, please come down to the arena." Gara went back to the balcony as there was nothing he could do about what happened. "Yosh! Let's show them the power of youth!" Lee shouted. "Yeah sure. How about we just have a fun match." Tsuya said.
(Yay! The only match I can actually write is finally here!)
"Begin!" Hayate said. Before Hayate had even finished saying start Lee and Tsuya had dashed towards each other and they engaged in a sparring contest. It seemed pretty close. "Oh boy." "Not this again." Sakura and Sasuke said respectively. "What?" Kiba asked. "Last time Tsuya did anything even close to this level of combat he destroyed the entire training ground. He had asked Kakashi for a spar and we watched. There were so many fallen trees and craters in the ground. And it was only taijutsu!" Sakura complained. She had returned to the balcony not too long after going to the infirmary. Most of her injuries were superficial. After a few minutes of continuously trading blows both Tsuya and Lee appeared back near their starting positions. "Let's take this up a notch." Lee said. He threw his weights to the corner. They started thor bout again, this time at a much higher pace and with a lot more strength. Tsuya was still holding back a little, but not much. That's just how good Lee was at taijutsu. Every time Lee would throw a punch, Tsuya would move out of the way and throw a punch of his own. But Lee would block it. This would happen for every kick, punch, or elbow either of them tried to use. After a couple minutes they stopped again. "Gai sensei, I know it isn't to protect someone precious but-" Lee was cut off before he could finish his question. "Hey, keep your focus on the spar. In an actual battle he won't always be there to give you advice. Think for yourself." Lee was conflicted for a moment but he quickly decided his course of action.
"Sound advice." Gai said.
"Gate of Opening: Open!" Lee shouted. "Oh so that's what we're doing now? Alright, I'm down. It's been a while since I had a good warm up. But if you're going to do that much you might as well go all the way." Lee ignored Tsuya and dashed after him. To his shock, he couldn't hit Tsuya. "I told you that if you're going to do the first you might as well go all the way. Because if you do that I'm going to stop holding back." Tsuya said. Realizing why Tsuya had said what he did he opened all the gates he could. "Gate of Healing, Gate of Life, Gate of Pain, Gate of Limit: Open!" Lee shouted with a thunderous cry. Tsuya smirked. He wanted to see how well he could hold up before he took it any further. He could still hold up a little. But it wasn't enough. He couldn't quite keep up with Lee anymore. So he decided to get just a little serious. Tsuya held his right hand out like he was giving a sideways thumbs out. Then he swung his hand in and his thumb landed right in the center of his chest. Suddenly a ton of purple seals appeared all over his body and glowed before they disappeared. He released his gravity seals. "Oh god no." Sasuke said. While he hadn't seen Tsuya while he was unsealed, he did know what that was as Tsuya had explained it to him. "Crap." Kakashi apparently had similar sentiments. This couldn't be good. Kakashi got ready to step in. "Gai, get ready to stop them. Just in case." Kakashi said. "What? Why?" "You do want Lee to live don't you? It's just in case so you shouldn't need to worry. And when I say get ready, I mean get ready to grab Lee and run." Kakashi clarified. "Is he that strong?" Asuma said. "When he lets those seals off, yes." The moment Tsuya let his seals off the battle took a sudden turn. Now, instead of Lee being in control, he was getting beaten down. There was no competition. Lee couldn't even keep track of Tsuya anymore. Every blow felt like it was breaking his bones. Eventually Lee couldn't even move. He was constantly getting thrown around the arena. Once it was made clear that Lee wasn't going to be doing anymore Gai jumped in with Kakashi to pull Lee out.
Gai had Lee in his arms and was happy to see that his wounds weren't actually all that bad. The pain might have been excruciating, but due to him opening the gates the damage itself wasn't all that bad. Tsuya instantly realized what's going on and stopped. "Sorry. Did I go overboard?" He asked as if it wasn't the most obvious thing in the world. "Is Lee okay?" He asked genuinely worried. "Yeah. His injuries are mostly surface level. The worst of his injuries are actually due to the gates tearing apart his muscles." Gai said after a quick examination. "That's a relief." Hayate announced Tsuya as the winner.
They drew lots to determine who would be fighting who at the chunin exam finals. The matches were as such:
Gara: Free pass
Tsuya vs Neji
Kankuro vs Dosu
Yugito vs Fuu
Shikamaru vs Temari
Sasuke vs Samui
A/N
Wow, that was a long chapter. So a few things. I never finished shippuden but I know what happens for the most parts. I did some light research on the characters I used that are only in shippuden like Samui and Omoi but I don't know them very well. So please forgive me on that part. I really wanted to use Fuu and Yugito as they're both jinchuuriki but I didn't know who else to use and it would be pretty odd if they were there by themselves. As for the matches themselves, I used a random name picker to decide the match ups. The only time I ever re rolled one is when it would affect the plot, but other than that they were picked purely at random. Most of them just happened to be crappy or using characters I didn't know well. It's also been a long time since I watched Naruto. Sorry if it sounds like I'm making excuses. Anyways. Next chapter will be the month of training, the start of the chunin exam finals, and maybe the invasion. I hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for coming.
Sincerely,
A tired dumbass
