Remus wasn't nervous going out to the store, but he wondered what he did to deserve new things. He was waiting in his room looking out the window when a knock came on the door. "Hey Remus, are you ready to go?" his foster father asked. Remus smiled and nodded slowly but he didn't say anything. He gave her a small smile and walked with her out of the room. He was a little nervous, but he didn't voice it as they made their way to the stairs. However, as he started to walk down he let out a small sob that did not go unnoticed. "Are you ok dear?" Hazel asked. Remus sighed but he nodded anyway as he walked slowly down the stairs.

The warmth and the sound of the train on the tacks made Remus feel better, but he wished that he was back in school or with his parents but… Remus felt Hazel's hand on his shoulder cutting him off. They both were on the train. Remus liked it. It calmed him. "How are you feeling Remus?" she asked Remus who looked up at her and blinked.

"I... I feel ok. I guess. I cant wait to see what we get but you don't need to get me anything. I'm okay if we just look," Remus said looking around. There wasn't really anyone on the train which Remus was grateful for.

"Oh Remus, we are going to get you things. You barely have clothes or books. Or stuff for school. Now come on. Our stop is next," Remus nodded and smiled but deep down he knew that this was not going to work. He was never going to get anything new. However, when the train stopped Remus was surprised and happy when Hazel stood. Remus did the same as they both left the train.

Remus nervously walked into the bookstore with Hazel behind him. He has already gotten new clothes and stuff for school. He knew that he wanted new books to read but he thought that he didn't deserve them. He didn't deserve anything. "I don't know where to start," Remus said looking at the shelves of books around him. the place smelled nice, and it calmed him. Oh, how he loved the smell of books.

"Do you need help, Remus?" Hazel asked looking at the door and then to Remus who smiled at her. Remus nodded slowly and then went into the nonfiction section. "Good choice Rem," Remus felt weird at the praise, but he took it. Soon after an hour, Remus had found seven books. One he fondly looked at as they reached the register was Les Misérables. He had never read it and now he could read it. He smiled when his foster mother paid. However, in the back of his mind, he still knew that this was a trick but for now he will enjoy it while it lasts.

It was around three by the time that they finished shopping and Remus knew that this was the only time that they were going to go shopping but he had fun anyway. While they were walking, he stopped in his tracks when he heard the laughter of James and Sirius. "I can't believe you say that!" Sirius's cheerful voice made Remus turn around. He smiled at them and waved. Sirius's eyes grew big as he waved back. "James look it's Remus," Sirius said running over to his new best friend. Remus smiled and hugged Sirius when he ran up to him.

"Hey Remus," James said laughing at Sirius who pulled him out of the hug.

"Hi," Remus said quickly. "I didn't know you guys were coming now here," Remus added looking at his foster mother who walked over to a bench so that they can be left alone.

"Yeah, we just got done with class. Reg wanted to go home but that's ok cause he gets tired after school. How are you doing?" Sirius asked looking at James who kept looking at Hazel. Remus smiled and nodded at the question.

"Alright. I'm not…not used to…" Remus cut off, but his friends nodded in understanding.

"That's ok. It's a little weird for me too," Sirius said looking around him. "Hey, do you want to hang out this weekend? It will be fun," Sirius added laughing when James's mouth opened when he realized who Remus's foster mother was.

"Yeah," Remus said slowly. "I should be getting home though. I want to get started on my new books," Remus said happily.

"Books?' James asked making Remus laugh. "All right," James said laughing a little. "We will see you this weekend then. Bye," James said waving. Remus waved back with a bright smile on his face. He was going to hang out with friends.
