A/N: Hi, I still have a week of exams to go, but instead of studying, I finished another chapter :D, btw the rapids part is a true story, it hurt like a bitch, couldn't lay down comfortably for a few days :(
If you didn't know, a "billabong" is sort of like a bigger than usual pond attached to the side of a river, american spell check doesn't like it :(
"I like where this is going, good chapter as always, anyway could have any scene of bathing in the river? *u*"
Sounds fine to me :D probs will be another lemon ;)
Ignoring the strange feeling, they turn their attention to the river flowing behind them. Ezreal puts his hands to his chin, giving a quizzical look, wondering how both He and Sona are going to cross the river, especially with her etwahl.
"I am going to go upstream, wait here." Ezreal tells Sona
Ezreal scrambles on to the mossy rocks and treks upward. Ezreal struggles along the slippery rocks pushing the droplet covered leaves out of his face. After a few moments of scaling over wet boulders along the side of the river, Ezreal looks up, the banks of the river begin the thin the further up he goes, He stops at the thinnest point of the river.
Guessing the distance from one bank to the other, Ezreal then paces backward, giving himself room for a running start. Once ready, Ezreal pounces forward just before he hits the rapidly flowing water, he jumps. Pulling in his chest and splaying out his arms as he lifts off the ground. His jump falls short however, realising this, Ezreal arcane shifts the rest of the distance, his feet sloppily landing on the other bank of the river.
Recovering his balance, Ezreal looks around on this side of the river pressing the sole of his boot against some of the trees along the bank. He stops at one of the trees, its thick trunk leaning over the river, the leaves idly hanging above the rapid flow of water. Ezreal pulls the blade Master Yi gave to him out of its sheath. Carefully positioning it at the stump of the tree, Ezreal twists his arm back before swinging the blade into the trunk with his strength.
He roughly pulls the blade out of the wedge it made into the tree. Sliding it back into its sheath, Ezreal raises his gauntlet, the electrical feeling of arcane energy shivers along his arm, the blue gem on his gauntlet shining brilliantly in a show of blue and white light. He fires a few mystic shots in a quick succession into the wedge he had just made.
Splinters fly everywhere as the tree falls across the river, the top landing on the river bank on the other side. The left over arcane energy slowly fizzles away at his fingertips. Ezreal carefully climbs onto the trunk of the tree, balancing himself on the waxy bark of the tree. Holding his arms out, Ezreal carefully shuffles along the trunk, focusing on not falling into the rapid white water below. Ezreal then arcane shifts the rest of the distance, his two feet landing on the rocks with a soft thud.
He then carefully slips down along the rocks back to Sona again.
"I made a way across the river up there." Ezreal says as he hugs Sona from behind.
After a few moments the two stand up and make their way up the river.
Sona's jaw drops once the sees the 'bridge' that Ezreal had made, immediately shaking her head.
"It is safe, trust me, I will make sure you don't fall in." Ezreal comforts her Ezreal jumps on to the tree trunk and holds out a hand for Sona.
"Trust me" He says again with sincerity.
Without any other option, Sona hesitantly takes his hand, her face still showing her uncertainty. Ezreal slowly walks backward, gently leading Sona along. Sona tries her hardest not to look down at the rapids below, her golden etwahl peacefully floating behind her.
"Half way there Sona, you are doing great." He encourages.
They approach the other river bank at a painfully slow speed. Five steps away from reaching the bank, Ezreal's heel catches on the trunk of the tree. His body swings backwards, realising what is happening, he lets go of Sona. His back splashes into the rapids, smashing against the loose stones at the bottom. The sudden strike of pain wakes him up, arcane shifting onto the river bank, he curses loudly. Sona's eyes go wide with shock.
"I'm fine!" Ezreal shouts out with a cringe. "Think you can make it the rest of the way?"
Sona tiptoes along the trunk and lands on the river bank, rushing to Ezreal's aid.
She promptly takes off Ezreal's soaked overcoat and shirt, revealing, large spots of bruises and gashes all over his back. Sona recoils in surprise.
"Is it bad?"
Sona, not wanting to give the answer, gives Ezreal a prompt kiss on the cheek, before turning over to her etwahl.
She plays her song of celerity, the soothing music melting away the pain in Ezreals back. He closes his eyelids, letting Sona have her way with him. As soothing as the music is however, Ezreal suddenly feels the same strange feeling again. Ezreal blinks his eyes open, in the shadows of the shrubs he makes out a sleek animal like shadow. Without hesitation he takes aim, surprising Sona.
"Sona get back." Ezreal sternly says, trying to not give away how much pain he is in.
Ezreal slowly stands up. His back slightly arched forward.
"I know you're there." Ezreal calls out before firing several blind mystic shots into the foliage. A roar echoes through the forest as one of his mystic shots hit. A flat headed lizard about the size of Ezreal himself bursts out of the bushes, snapping its jaws. Ezreal fires more mystic shots at the lizard, some of them hitting, but most making holes in the ground.
The lizard then uses its tail to spring up to Ezreal's neck, Ezreal puts his gauntlet in front of him to minimise the damage, but Sona's power chord collides with the lizard, knocking it away from Ezreal. The lizard makes a deafening hissing noise before scuttling away into the bushes.
Ezreal pants hard, every deep breath he takes striking pain in his back. Sona's soothing music caresses his wounds once more.
"Thank you Sona." Ezreal huffs out. "I guess that was what was watching us..."
"We can make camp down the river; there should be a billabong down there. But first..."
Ezreal hesitantly unzips the absolutely soaked bag. Inside, everything is absolutely soaked, some of the items in the bag completely crushed and the map torn to shreds, he sighs.
"Let's get going Sona." He says once Sona has done all she can to heal his wounds.
