The Flying Master
One Saturday morning, the Violet City Gym Leader Falkner invited me to the top of the Violet Gym for a friendly rematch. I accepted. My friends Kris and Lyra tagged along. Strong winds blew.
Falkner called out a Noctowl, and I called out my Ampharos. Noctowl outmaneuvered Ampharos and hit it with a Shadow Ball attack, which both did damage and lowered Ampharos' Special Defense. Ampharos struck back with a Thunderbolt attack and knocked Noctowl out.
He sent out a Murkrow. I recalled Ampharos and sent out my Azumarill. Murkrow easily outsped Azumarill and hit it with a Brave Bird move, which did a fair amount of damage. Brave Bird's recoil hurt Murkrow in the process. Azumarill struck back with a Play Rough move and knocked Murkrow out.
He called out a Xatu. I recalled Azumarill and called Ampharos back out. Xatu easily outmaneuvered Ampharos and hit it with a Psychic attack, which both did damage and lowered Ampharos' Special Defense. Ampharos struck back with Thunderbolt and knocked out Xatu.
He sent out a Togetic. I recalled Ampharos and sent out my Crobat. Crobat outsped Togetic easily and knocked it out with only one Cross Poison move.
He called out a Skarmory. I recalled Crobat and called out my Typhlosion. Typhlosion outmaneuvered Skarmory easily and knocked it out with one Flamethrower attack.
"I understand. I'll bow out gracefully. A defeat is a defeat," he said.
