Ezreal's heart skips a few beats as the third head of the hydra arches back and lashes forward. Before it hits, he arcane shifts to the side. The third head collides with the corner where Ezreal once was, smashing the area apart. The third head slinks back, shaking away it's grogginess after smashing into the wall.

Ezreal grimaces, the sheer size and power of the beast overwhelming him. The three heads twist and curl around in the air.

"I need to get out of here." Ezreal thinks to himself before his eyes lay on the hydra's middle head. Chained around its neck is a small necklace, the pendant with a ruby red jewel encrusted into it.

Ezreal curses, "Really?"

The hydra attacks him with all its heads at once, snapping at his feet as he runs.

Ezreal shifts forward and shoots a mystic shot backwards, the mass of energy impacting into one of the heads, the white arcane magic splashing outward from the collision. However the heads continue to relentlessly attack. Ezreal franticly fires endless amounts of mystic shots and essence waves at the hydra, the projectiles making no effect.

Ezreal shifts forward a few more times before focusing his arcane energy into his gauntlet. The familiar blue bow forms, sparkling slightly as it reflects the lights of the room. Ezreal the spins around, taking aim.

Ezreal nearly recoils backward at the sight of the hydra's gaping mouth and razor sharp teeth closing over him, ready to bite Ezreal in half.

He fires the trueshot barrage straight into it, slicing it in half horizontally. The two other heads of the hydra shriek in both burning pain and raging anger.

Ezreal catches his breath as the hydra recovers. It starts fanning its tail in the air, pushing powerful walls of air against the mosaic lining the wall behind it, cracking some of the glass.

The hydra curls its tail back against its body, Ezreal looks up at it. Staring eye to eye with the beast. Suddenly the hydra snaps its tail against the air and pushes forward with lightning speed. Ezreal arcane shifts onto its back with mere seconds to spare, avoiding being ripped to shreds. Ezreal grabs hold of the hydra's plumage, gripping on as the rest of his body is thrown around as it tries to shake him off.

Ezreal jumps upward, using the hydra's movements as an extra boost, after shooting a few mystic shots and essence fluxes, Ezreal shoots another powerful trueshot barrage at the hydra. The hydra roars in pain as another head is severed. Steaming red blood sprays from its neck. Ezreal looks up at the hydra panting, his energy completely spent. The final head of the hydra roars and swings around in the air before relentlessly, attacking at Ezreal.

In the corner of his eye, he notices its claw swiping through the air. Ezreal arcane shifts backward, firing arcane bolts aimed at the hydra's head. The hydra scrambles over to Ezreal, towering over him, it whips its tail around. The displaced air flinging him across the room, his body slams into beautiful mural, the tinted glass shattering and cracking into pieces around him.

Ezreal coughs up sticky blood, clinging to his dry throat. His chest burning in pain. The hydra rears its hind legs for a final attack. Ezreal tries to get up as fast as he can but falls back in pain. He looks up at the hydra.

"I have only one chance." Ezreal quietly whispers to himself.

The hydra charges straight at him. In the face of a huge gaping mouth, he fires a mystic shot at the chain around its neck. Arcane shifting past the hydra's head and grabbing the amulet. Ezreal tugs it free and rolls out of the way. The hydra smashes face first into the solid stone wall, knocking it unconscious.

After another bloody cough Ezreal hobbles back to the surface, his dark crimson blood making a trail down his chin from the corner of his mouth.

Ezreal smiles slightly when he sees the speck of yellow sunlight in the distance, baring his red stained teeth.

The warmth of the daytime light engulfs him, the smell of springtime grass and tree bark fills his nose, instead of the dry suffocating air inside the temple. Ezreal slowly opens his eyes as he adjusts to the bright environment. Ezreal smirks to himself, tightening his grip on the cold amulet in his right hand. To Ezreal, there is nothing more satisfying than a successful expedition. He thinks happy thoughts before his mind snaps.

"Where's Sona?" Ezreal asks himself in panic.

"Sona!" Ezreal shouts at the top of his lungs, ignoring the sticky blood trickling down his throat.

Sona! Where are you?" He shouts even louder.

Ezreal takes several steps forward, each step harder to make than the last. He soon struggles to stand, then falling to the ground pinned down.

"What the… I can't move" Ezreal rasps trying to get up. Desperate to find Sona.

"Hah, as an explorer you should be able to detect any traps, no matter the time and place." A familiar voice mocks.

Ezreal coughs, his body being pushed down by the very air itself.

Ezreal loos behind him, talismans with runic text scribbled on them lay planted all over the entrance of the ruin.

"So you were the one who was following us."

"That's right." Otis says as he walks out from behind a tree, holding Sona in front of him. She looks at Ezreal with tearful eyes, scratches and bruises tarnishing her once flawless skin.

"Wh… Why are you doing this?" Ezreal mutters as Otis walks over to him, still with Sona in his grip.

"Can't you see Ezreal?" He asks followed by a pause. "Look at me, I am growing old, walking with a limp and can barely breathe at night. I need that amulet, nothing personal."

"Why me then? Do it yourself." He croaks lifting up his head slightly from the puddle of blood that formed at his mouth.

"That's simple, I spent many years of my life researching, but I could never find the place where the amulet was hidden. That was of course until a certain prodigal explorer joined the league as a champion."

Anger burns within Ezreal, not only furious at Otis, but also furious at himself for falling for his trick and endangering Sona.

"I am very happy at how this had worked out, good work Ezreal." He mocks.

Otis then pulls out the blade that Master Yi had given him from its sheath, waving it around.

"Now, give me the amulet." He commands pointing the sharp blade at Ezreal's hand.

In a shout, Ezreal arcane shifts out of the range of the runes stuck onto the ruins behind him. Aiming his gauntlet at his back.

Otis spins around, the weapon in his hand now prodding dangerously against Sona's vulnerable throat.

"Isn't it amusing how the one thing you try to protect is your weakness?"

"Sona is not, a thing!" Ezreal spits out

"In any case, give me the amulet, and she won't get hurt. Oh and take that gauntlet off too."

Ezreal grunts quietly, unclipping his gauntlet and carefully placing it on the ground. He then walks up to Otis with caution.

"Put it down there." Otis points

He complies, dropping it on the green grass, bouncing harmlessly on the soil.

"Now, stand over there." Otis motions, away from his gauntlet.

Otis then promptly picks it up.

"Good" Otis says once Ezreal does so. "Sadly, I cannot keep my side of the promise."

Otis raises the blade back to Sona's throat, facing her at Ezreal.

Sona's face, tainted with fear and despair. Stains of tears down her face and clothes. Her once beaming blue eyes locking with Ezreal's, her eyes saying. "I'm sorry"

Their stare is then disturbed by Otis, the blade slicing through Sona's neck. The last thing she sees is Ezreal screaming, fresh tears forming. Her body falls to the bed of grass below her. Staining the green leaves to red.

"In order to save a life, you need another life." Otis says solemnly. "Sadly you did not research into the amulet enough to realise this."
