Bad wolf
She didn't know how long she had been unconcious for, but Alyssa was slowly begining to come round. Everything was still dark around her but she could hear voices talking over her.
"Since when did the show decide to add a new contestant, they never said anything to us about a new arrival."
"She's just a little girl, she'll be scared." Alyssa slowly opened her eyes to see three girls standing over her, all of them appeared to be a little bit older than her.
"You alright?" the oldest one of the group asked, she was tall with long red hair and she appeared to be round about sixteen years old. Alyssa tried to stand up but her legs felt like jelly and her head was swimming.
"Steady now, that'll be the transmat beam, it makes you feel a little sick" the tall girl said as another girl who looked about fourteen supported Alyssa and helped her sit down on a sofa.
"Where am I?" she asked groggily, rubbing the back of her head. The red headed girl looked at her like she was something from a different planet and started giggling.
'You don't know what show this is?" she asked " you're a contestant silly."
"Contestant on what?" Alyssa asked, still confused and dizzy from whatever had just happened.
"You're a contestant on Junior big brother silly" the red headed girl chuckled. Now Alyssa was really confused, she had never even heard of Junior big brother but then she began to wonder wether it was the same as the orginal big brother except the contestants were kids.
"What is Junior big brother?" the confused twelve year old asked.
"Don't tell me you ain't never heard of Junior big brother" the red headed girl pointed out "you know big brother, well basically it's the same as that except it's for peole under the age of seventeen, but the age limit is from Nine to Sixteen."
"So, you're all contestants then?" Alyssa asked " is it just you three or are there more?"
"No, the others got evicted, the youngest one we had since you came was a nine year old girl, she was the first to be evicted, poor mite, mind you though, I think this game is barbaric because the kids can't apply to be a contestant, the tractor beam just picks them up whether they like it or not. They always seem to target kids aged between nine and sixteen, think that's how the people who run the tractor beam set it to" the red headed girl explained as Alyssa continued to rub the back of her head, attempting to get rid of the big head ache she had as another girl with short blonde hair asked her if she remembered anything about what had happened before she woke up but the little girl shook her head.
"That would be the amnesia, it's a side effect from the transmat beam but don't worry it's only temporary" the red headed girl pointed out " so how old are you anyway if you don't mind me asking?."
"Twelve" Alyssa replied.
"Crikey, you're the youngest one here, Bryony Chambers there is fourteen" she pointed over to the girl with blue streaks in her hair, wearing a red rock n roll t-shirt, denim skirt and purple and black striped tights and blue converse trainers "and that over there is Rihanna-Jade Cunnigham she's sixteen" she gestured to the girl with short blonde hair in a thin strapped yellow top and jeans " and I'm Kelli-Lynn Anderson I'm sixteen too, So what's your name squirt?."
"Alyssa Benson" Alyssa replied just as the big brother theme tune began playing and a robotic voice began speaking around the room.
'This is Davina droid, will Alyssa Benson please come to the Diary room." Alyssa sighed and walked over to the diary room and plonked herself in a large yellow arm chair as the robotic voice spoke again.
"Alyssa benson this is Davina droid, you are live on Channel 44000. Welcome Alyssa to Junior big brother, how do you feel about being the latest contestent to enter the Junior big brother house?"
"Well let me tell you what I think, what I think you are doing is abduction basically" Alyssa pointed out.
"What makes you say that?" the robot voice asked.
"Using a transmat beam to pick out kids against their will instead of letting them choose wether they want to be a contestant or not, that is abduction" the child pointed out.
"Thank you Alyssa, you may now leave the diary room."
"What is that it, I haven't finished yet" Alyssa said, a look of confusion across her face.
"Thank you Alyssa, you may now leave the diary room" the robotic voice repeated and seeing that she wasn't going to get anywhere, she huffed, got up out of her seat and left the diary room. That was when her memory started to come back, she could see herself in the Tardis with the Doctor, Rose and Jack, laughing when she was suddenly engulfed in a bright light, being pulled away from them and then waking up in this hell hole.
"Doctor, Rose, Jack" she yelled, causing the older girls to look at her and Kelli-Lynn rushed over to her.
"What's wrong?" she aksed the younger girl.
"Where are they?" Alyssa aksed, her voice full of fear "I remember, I remember what happened before."
"Go on, what happened then?" Kelli-Lynn asked.
" I was with the Doctor, Rose and Jack, we we're in the Tardis" Alyssa began.
"What's a Tardis?" Kelli-Lynn asked.
"It's a time machine, the Doctor, Rose and Jack are these people I travel thing. So anyway we were in the Tardis having just escaped from Japan in the Thirteen hundreds and we escaped from these people who wanted to kidnap me and Rose. We were in the Tardis, laughing and suddenly there was this white light and I woke up here" Alyssa explained and Kelli-lyn began explaining to her that it must have been the transmat beam that probably transported her there.
"So who are these other people you mentioned then?" Bryony asked her.
"There friends of mine, we were travelling together and Now I don't know where they are" Alyssa replied feeling more scared than ever "so what happens when you get evicted, do they let you leave?" At that moment, the older three fell silent and had grim looks on their faces and Alyssa asked them again what happens.
"You'll find out later" Kelli-Lyn replied " it's eviction later."
"Well I don't care what happens, I'm getting out of here" Alyssa pointed out as she walked over to the main entrance and attempted to open it but found she couldn't, the door was glue shut.
"You can't leave, none of us can" Rhianna-Jade explained to her "the only way you can get out of here is to get evicted."
"Okay, so how do I do that?" she asked.
"Well the viewers have to vote for a person to be evicted or you have to break a house rule like break an object" Rhianna-Jade said before turning to Bryony "do you remember that time Ricky Davison smashed a vase and got forceably evicted"
"yeah, poor kid, he didn't mean to do it" Kelli-lyn pointed out "he tripped on his shoe lace and fell onto the vase and it fell to the floor and broke but they still evicted him." Alyssa couldn't believe what she was hearing, a boy had been forceable evicted all because he tripped and fell on a vase.
"So did they tell him to leave or did he get dragged out?" she asked.
"Well after the vase incident they told him to leave but he refused so they sent in a couple of robots to come in a drag him out" said Rhianna-Jade "but trust me, it's not pleasant when you get evicted, believe me." A little while had passed by and Alyssa was growing more worried about the Doctor, Rose and Jack, where were they, did they know she was missing, had they been taken too, so many questions where going through her young mind.
"This is Davina Droid, will all house mates gather on the sofa for this weeks eviction" the Robot voice said.
"Come on, you've got to sit on the sofa too" Kelli-Lyn said, taking Alyssa by the arm and pulling her towards the sofa.
"But I'm not supposed to be here, I've been kidnapped by someone or something and they've put me in this house so that I won't be found" Alyssa pointed out but Kelli-Lyn told her to be quiet as they were about to announce the eviction.
"House mates, this is Davina Droid, the lines are now closed and the votes have been counted and I can now reveal that the house mate to be evicted this week is" there was a tense five seconds before the announcement was made " Kelli-Lyn Anderson, you have been evicted, you have ten seconds to say your goodbyes." Both Bryony and Rhianna-Jade were shocked to discover that Kelli-Lyn had been evicted and they were now saying a tearful goodbye to her but Alyssa couldn't understand why they were making a big deal out of it.
"Come on why are you guys getting so upset?" she aksed when Kelli-Lyn stepped out of the house and stood in a small room, looking scared "you'll probably see her again when you guys get out."
"Just watch and you'll understand why" Bryony pointed out. Alyssa then watched Kelli-Lyn on the tv screen as she stood in the middle of the small room, looking up at the ceiling shaking with fear. Suddenly, a beam of light came down from the ceiling and hit Kelli-Lyn, vapourizing her into nothing and that was when Alyssa realized why the other two where getting really upset when Kelli-Lyn got evicted, she had been vapourized to dust and she assumed that all the other kids who had been evicted must have suffered the same fate.
"Now do you understand?" Rhianna-jade said to Alyssa when she noticed the shocked look on the younger girl's face "this is what happens when you get evicted, you're evicted from life." Alyssa was now too shocked to say anything, she sat on the sofa, unable to say anything, she had just witnessed a girl who was not much older than herself be vaporized into nothing and that the previous evictees who were probably younger than herself suffered the same fate.
"I think she's in shock" Rhianna-Jade whispered to Bryony, nodding at Alyssa who was still sat on the sofa in grim silence.
"I'll go see if she's ok" Bryony pointed out as she got up and walked over to Alyssa who was now sweating and breathing hard "are you ok?"
"I N-n-n-n-n-eed to get o-o-o-out of h-h-h-h-ere" Alyssa stammered as she continued to hyperventilate "I -n-n-n-need t-t-t-to f-f-f-ind the Doctor, Rose and Jack."
"It's ok, just take it easy" Bryony told her "I know this is scary but you need to keep calm." Alyssa nodded as she took a deep breath but she was still wondering about the other three until she came up with a decision.
"I'm not staying in here a second longer" she announced as she she stood up and picked up a vase.
"What are you doing with that?" Bryony asked, pointing at the vase that Alyssa was holding in her hands.
"I'm going to smash it into tiny little pieces" the younger girl announced to the other two who were looking at her with shocked expressions.
"Are you mad, you'll get evicted if you do that" Rhianna-Jade told her.
"I don't care, I need to get out of here" Alyssa told them before raising the vase above her head and was about to throw it to the ground when someone grabbed it from her.
"Now this isn't like you at all" a familiar northern accent said from above her and Alyssa turned around to see the Doctor standing behind her.
"Doctor" she said before throwing her arms around him "what are you doing here, how did you get in?"
"With this obviously" the Doctor replied, waggling his sonic screwdriver around behind his fingers "now come on hurry up, we need to find Rose." Alyssa nodded and took his hand as they left the Junior big brother house and outside was Jack and a Woman who Alyssa had never even seen before.
"Hey Squirt, we were so worried about you" Jack said as he pulled Alyssa into a bear hug then letting her go just as the newcomer approached the young girl and stuck her hand out.
"Hi, you must be Alyssa, I'm Lynda Moss, I've heard so much about you."
"Nice to meet you Lynda" Alyssa replied as she shook Lynda's hand before turning to the Doctor "so where's Rose?"
"I don't know, I'm trying to track her down now" the Doctor replied as he fiddled around with a computer device to try and see which floor Rose was on.
"She must still be inside the games. All the rooms are shielded" Jack pointed out.
"If we can just get inside this computer... she's GOT to be here somewhere" the Doctor replied as he continued to work the computer device.
"Well, you'd better hurry up. These games don't have a happy ending" Jack warned him as Alyssa looked on.
"You think I don't know that? " the Doctor snapped at him and Jack handed him his wrist device.
"Patch that in. It's programmed to find her" Jack told him as Alyssa looked around, observing her surroundings.
"This place looks very familiar, I'm sure we've been here before" she pointed out.
"yeah we have, we're on platform one" the Doctor replied " but a hundred years have passed and it's called the game station now" Jack's wrist device was now beginning to bleep in protest and the Doctor was now getting slightly annoyed "It's not compatible. This stupid system doesn't make sense" he chucked the wrist device to Lynda, grabbing the front of the computer device and taking the wrist device from Lynda "This place should be a basic broadcaster. The systems are twice as complicated. It's more than just television... this station's transmitting something else."
"Like what?" Alyssa asked.
"I don't know. This whole Bad Wolf thing's tied up with me. Someone's manipulating my entire life. It's some sort of trap and Rose is stuck inside it" the Doctor replied as he worked frantically before the wrist deviced bleeped "Found her! Floor 407!"
"Oh, my God! She's with the Anne Droid! You've gotta get her out of there! " a frantic Lynda pointed out. The Doctor grabbed Alyssa by the hand and ran towards the lift with jack and Lynda following behind them.
"What is the Anne Droid?" Alyssa asked.
"It's a robot version of Anne Robinson, it's a really nasty machine and terrible stuff happens to the weakest link" Lynda explained.
"Sounds alot worse than the real Anne Robinson" Alyssa pointed out as the Doctor franticly watched the floor numbers on the screen.
"Come on... come on..." he said franticly. The lift came to a stop and the four of them ran just in time to see Rose being voted as the weakest link and she was now running towards them, warning that the Anne Droid was armed. Alyssa saw a Robot version on Anne Robinson stood in the middle of the room and watched in terror as a gun device emitted from it's mouth and shot Rose, turning her into dust just like what happened with Kelli-lyn.
"ROSE" she screamed "NO." She sunk to the floor, sobbing as yelled at the armed guards who now came running in with guns and all the events that had happened were becoming to much for the little girl to handle that she passed out from shock as the guards surrounded her.
"GET AWAY FROM HER" Jack yelled as one of them picked her up and tossed her over their shoulder "SHE'S JUST A KID."
"She is trespassing, like the rest of you, she is under arrest" the Guard explained.
"She's Only Twelve, she's just a kid, she shouldn't be going to prison" Jack snapped. The Guard ignored him and carried Alyssa off. The Little girl woke up in a holding cell a little while later and noticed that Jack, the Doctor and Lynda where also in the cell with her and the Doctor was being questioned who looked like he was in shock.
"Can you tell us how you got on board?" the man questioning the Doctor asked him.
"Leave him alone" Alyssa said groggily as she sat up but the man grabbed her by the chin, silencing her.
"I'm asking him brat" the man told her before shoving her and Jack pulled her to her feet, making sure she was alright as the man who was the security guard continued to question the Doctor.
"Sir? Can you tell us who you are?" he asked but the Doctor said nothing. A little while later, the Security guard was telling the four of them about what was going to happen with them.
"ou will be taken from this place to the Lunar Penal Colony, there to be held without trial, you may not appeal against this sentence, Is that understood? " he asked them, Jack and the Doctor didn't move, Lynda shifted uncomfortably and Alyssa looked nervous. The security guard then walked to the door and opened it just as the Doctor turned to his companions, speaking for the first time in a while.
"Let's do it." The Four of them leaped to their feet and Jack punched and Kicked his way through the gate, pushing the security guard aside in the process whilst the Doctor threw another against the wall knocking him out before they all ran out of their cell and piled into the nearest lift.
"Where are we going?" Alyssa asked.
"Floor 500" the Doctor replied. Alyssa remembered being on that floor the last time she was here, the Editor, the Mighty Jagrafess and the dead people working the computer system and she now realized that the Doctor was now armed with a strange gun like device and he had a serious look on his face. When the lift doors opened, the four of them stepped out, Jack and the Doctor aiming their weapons.
"Okay! Move away from the desk! Nobody try anything clever. Everybody clears!" Jack yelled and the staff all scattered as the Doctor made his way towards a woman at the end of the corridor who was wired up to a huge system and was mumbling something.
"Who's that?" Alyssa whispered to Lynda, gesturing to the strange woman.
"I'm not sure" Lynda whispered back as both Jack and the Doctor aimed their weapons at the staff.
"Stand to the sides. And stay there" Jack yelled as the Doctor brandished his weapon at the wired woman.
"Who's in charge of this place?" the Doctor asked her as she continued to mumble numbers, her eyes staring ahead "This Satellite's more than a Game Station. Who Killed Rose tyler?"
"All staff are reminded that solar flares-" the woman who was revealed to be the controller said before the Doctor interrupted her.
"I want an answer! " the Doctor yelled.
"She can't reply" a male member of staff pointed out and the Doctor turned around, pointing his weapon at him "Don't shoot!."
"Oh, don't be so thick. Like I was ever gonna shoot" the Doctor said as he tossed the gun aside before turning to Jack "Captain, we've got more guards on the way up. Secure the exits."
"Yes, sir!" Jack replied as he ran off and the Doctor turned to the man who had caught his gun when he tossed it aside "You - what were you saying?"
"But... I've got your gun" he pointed out nervously.
"Okay, so shoot me" the Doctor said before gesturing to the controller "Why can't she answer? " The man put the gun down and began telling him about the controller.
"the Controller is linked to the transmissions. The entire output goes through her brain - you're not a member of staff so she doesn't recognize your existence" he explained as Alyssa walked towards them to get a closer look at the strange woman.
"What's she called?" the youngster asked.
"I don't know. She was installed when she was five years old. That's the only life she's ever known" he explained as Jack shouted from the other side of the room.
" Door's sealed. We should be safe for about ten minutes" the American announced.
"Keep an eye on them" the Doctor told him.
" But that stuff you were saying about something going on with the Game Station. I think you're right. I've kept a log. Unauthorised transmats, encrypted signals, it's been going on for years" the Male programmer explained.
"So you didn't bring us here?" Alyssa asked "someone else did?"
"You could say there yeah" the Male programmer replied as Jack attempted to get through a door at the other end of the room.
"You're not allowed in there. Archive Six is out of bounds" a woman shouted to him.
"Do I look like an out of bounds sort of guy?" Jack asked before going inside after the door opened.
"Solar flare activity in delta point zero fifteen" the Controller announced.
" If you're not holding us hostage, then open the door and let us out. The staff are terrified" the woman who tried to stop jack from going into the other room told the Doctor.
"That's the same staff who execute hundreds of contestants every day" the Doctor pointed out in a furious manner.
"Including kids" Alyssa pointed out, folding her arms.
" That's not our fault. We're just doing our jobs" the woman pointed out.
" And with that sentence you just lost the right to even talk to me. Now back off! " the Doctor snapped just as the power went off and both the Doctor and Alyssa where puzzled.
"That's just the solar flares. They interfere with the broadcast signal, so this place automatically powers down. Planet Earth gets a few repeats. It's all quite normal" the male programmer explained just as the controller began asking for the Doctor.
"Doctor?" the woman in the staff asked.
"Whatever it is, you can wait" the Doctor said in an annoyed tone and Alyssa tugged at his arm, telling him that the controller was asking for him and he turned around to face her but she wasn't looking straight at him, her eyes were wondering.
" Doctor? Doctor? Where's the Doctor? " she asked.
" I'm here" the Doctor said as he walked towards her.
"Can't see. I'm blind. So blind. All my life, blind. All I can see is numbers, but I saw you" she said.
"What do you want?" the Doctor asked her as Alyssa stood and watched. This strange woman was now begining to give her the creeps.
"Solar flares hiding me. They can't hear me. My masters, they always listen but they can't hear me now the sun, the sun is so bright" the Controller spoke.
"Who are your masters? " the Doctor asked her.
"They wired my head. The name's forbidden. They control my thoughts. My masters. My masters, I had to be careful. They monitor transmissions but they don't watch the programmes. I could hide you inside the games. Knew that you would find me" she explained.
"My friend died inside your games" the Doctor told her.
" Doesn't matter" the controller said.
" Don't you dare tell me that" the Doctor snapped as Alyssa came marching over, looking furious.
"That's Rose you're talking about, she's the best friend me and the Doctor have ever had and she was like a second sister to me" the little girl yelled but the Doctor shushed her and told her to let him handle this on his own.
" They've been hiding. My masters hiding in the dark space, watching and shaping the Earth so, so, so many years. Always been there, guiding humanity, hundreds and hundred of years" the Controller spoke out.
"Who are they?" the Doctor demanded.
"They wait and plan and grow in numbers. They're strong now. So strong, my masters" she said.
"Who are they? " the Doctor asked, getting impatient now.
" But speak of you" she said, her eyes now staring straight at him "my masters, they fear the Doctor."
"Tell me, who are they?" a now impatient Doctor asked just as the power came back on and the controller went back to her usual state, counting "When's the next solar flare?."
"Two years time" the male programmer announced.
" Fat lot of good that is" the Doctor complained as Jack announced that he had found the Tardis and that was when the Doctor announced they were leaving as he grabbed Alyssa's hand but Jack stopped him before he could walk off.
"But the Tardis worked it out. You'll want to watch this" Jack said as he walked over to Lynda and guided her to the end of the room "Lynda, could you stand over there for me please?."
" I just want to go home" Lynda pointed out.
" It'll only take a second. Could you stand in that spot, quick as you can. Everybody watching? Okay. three, two, one" Jack said as he pressed a button and a beam came down and hit Lynda,causing her to vanish in a puff of smoke and Alyssa yelped in horror, throwing her hands over her mouth.
" But you killed her! " the Doctor pointed out.
"Oh, do you think?" Jack asked with a grin as he pushed another button and another beam brought Lynda back.
"What the hell was that? " Lynda asked, looking shocked.
"It's a transmat beam. Not a disintegrator, a secondary transmat system. People don't get killed in the games. they get transported across space. Doctor, Rose is still alive!" Jack announced as he and the Doctor hugged.
'Isn't that great news Ali?" Jack asked as he pulled Alyssa into a hug.
"Yeah it is, but where did she get transported to?" Alyssa asked.
"That we need to find out" the Doctor replied "she must be out there somewhere." Suddenly, the controller started yelling in pain and was squirming.
"Doctor. Coordinates five point six point one" she told the Doctor as she twisted and squirmed in her seat.
"Don't, the solar flare's gone. They'll hear you" the Doctor warned her.
"Point four three four. No, my masters, no! I defy you! Stigma seven seven" she yelled before disappearing right before their eyes.
"What happened?" Alyssa asked, walking towards the Doctor.
"They took her" the Doctor replied. Meanwhile, Jack was flirting with the male programmer but he didn't seem to notice this and gave him an object.
" Look, use that. It might contain the final numbers. I kept a log of all the unscheduled transmissions" he said.
"Nice, Thanks. Captain Jack Harkness, by the way" Jack said with his flirty grin and putting his hand out for him to shake. Alyssa couldn't help but giggle a little.
" I'm Davitch Pavale" Pavale replied as he took Jack's hand, shaking it.
"Nice to meet you, Davitch Pavale" Jack replied in his flirty manner again.
"There's a time and a place" the Doctor said, looking at Jack with a hint of annoyance.
"Are you saying this entire set up's been a disguise all along? " the woman asked.
"Going way back. Installing the Jagrafess a hundred years ago. Someone's been playing a long game, controlling the human race from behind the scenes for generations" the Doctor explained.
"Click on this" Jack said to the woman, pointing at a button on the control panel " The transmat delivers to that point, right on the edge of the solar system." She pressed the button to see a hologram of out of space with nothing but stars.
"There's nothing there" she pointed out.
"It looks like nothing because that's what this satellite does. Underneath the transmission there's another signal" the Doctor explained.
"What's it doing Doctor?" Alyssa asked.
" Hiding whatever's out there. Hiding it from sonar, radar, scanner. There's something sitting right on top of planet Earth, but it's completely invisible. If I cancel the signal" the Doctor said as he pressed a couple of buttons and a large flying saucer came up on the hologram, soon accompanied by many more smaller identical flying saucers and Alyssa noticed that both the Doctor and Jack had looks of terror on their faces.
" That's impossible. I know those ships. They were destroyed" Jack pointed out.
"Obviously, they survived" the Doctor replied, his voice shaking.
"What are you talking about?" Alyssa asked "who are they?"
"Two hundred ships. More than two thousand on board each one. That's just about half a million of them" the Doctor explained, not taking his eyes off the screen.
" Half a million what? " Pavale asked.
"Daleks" the Doctor replied, his voice shaking again and Alyssa slowly stepped backwards, shaking her head and she almost collapsed to the ground in shock but Jack managed to grab her.
"Please no, not them, not them" she said, shaking with fear.
"Have you met the Daleks before?" Jack asked her and Alyssa nodded, shaking just as the hologram screen changed to the inside of one of the Dalek mother ship where Alyssa saw Rose backed up against a wall being surrounded by millions of Daleks. The terrified little girl clung to Jack's arm and he reassured her that they couldn't get her.
" I will talk to the Doctor" one of the Daleks announced, facing the Doctor on the screen.
"Oh, will you? That's nice. Hello!" the Doctor said sarcasticly, adding a little wave.
"The Dalek stratagem nears completion. The fleet is almost ready. You will not intervene" the Dalek squawked.
"Oh, really? Why's that, then?" the Doctor asked in a cocky manner, folding his arms.
"We have your associate" the Dalek said, turning it's eyestalk towards Rose who was backed up against the wall "You will obey or she will be exterminated."
" No" the Doctor barked, causing everyone in the room to look at him.
" Explain yourself" the Dalek demanded, wobbling on the spot.
" I said no" the Doctor barked.
"What is the meaning of this negative? " the Dalek asked.
" It means no" the Doctor told them again.
"But she will be destroyed" the Dalek explained, referring to Rose.
"No,Because this is what I'm going to do. I'm going to rescue her" the Doctor told the Dalek on the screen.
"I hope he knows what he's doing?" Alyssa whispered as Jack nodded in agreement.
"I'm going to save Rose Tyler from the middle of the Dalek fleet" the Doctor told the Daleks and he was now getting furious "and then I'm going to save the Earth, and then, just to finish off, I'm going to wipe every last stinking Dalek out of the sky!."
" But you have no weapons, no defences, no plan" the Dalek said.
"Yeah. And doesn't that scare you to death" the Doctor replied with a smirk before turning to Rose " Rose?."
"Yes, Doctor? " Rose asked.
