A/N: We made it, after many late nights and minutes racking my brains for something to put into each chapter we have reached the final chapter of my first story on fanfiction.
(I am also posting this chapter the night before school starts, how convenient :D)
Thank you for reading. Thank you to all of the followers and favouriters. Thank you very much for the kind reviews that helped me along and the criticizing reviews that helped me improve.
A huge special thank you to Waddlebuff for guiding me and helping me from the second chapter. Check out his stories if you haven't. (senpai noticed me :3)
As for later stories, I will probably finish off my other story first. Then from there I am not sure. I am leaning toward writing my own story on fiction press if I have time. I might also write fanfictions for other things other than league. or... I could just make a sequel to this story :3
Enjoy the final chapter.
"Fuck you for that ending , no seriosly fuck you.
( Kidding, but pls i need to know what hair color their children will have. So pls let sona live)"
Probably blonde, but you never know, you might see a child in a sequel ;) (If there is one)
"NOOOOoOoOOOOOOOOOOO, why would you do this? Why? Why End now this history full of potential, no, no this is not happening, it can't happens, NOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo"
Sorry :3
"WHAT! And another WHAT! (For another "well placed" cliff hangerD:"
Yes, how convenient.
"DAAAAAAAAAAAMNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN.
You just went there."
I was thinking of a surprising twist at the end since about chapter 14, happy you like it.
"Even though I watch and read many plot twists like this but seriously this is the most sad and surprising one I've seen so far. ( keep up the good work d.b )"
thank you
"...what a cliff hanger D:"
:D
"You know, if Miss Sarah Fortune weren't there to save you back in Bilgewater, the exact same thing would happen like now. Sona is your weakness"
Ezreal is too broken to reply, skin pale, his lips quivering.
"So he was there…" Ezreal thinks to himself
"But, I guess it is too late to tell you that now..."
Otis brandishes the golden amulet, glimmering in the sunlight.
"Finally" He breathes, holding the beautiful jewellery above his head.
He slips the gold chain over his head and around his neck, wearing it with complete pride.
"Now…" He says with a slight cackle.
The ruby gem on the amulet shimmers, a strange red light igniting within the tinted crystal. For a few brief moments, the light the fades again.
"What?" Otis asks himself in frustration, he grips the amulet and shakes it, tapping on the crystal. Ezreal looks over at Sona's body in sorrow. His cold tears dripping off his chin. His throat tightening, barely able to breathe. With his bloodshot and tearstained eyes, he notices movement, although very slightly, it is movement. Sona's arm twitches again, barely noticeable. Ezreal' eyes widen. Noticing Ezreal's reaction Otis then also looks down and notices.
"Oh haha, I guess the countless battles on the rift has hardened her up." He chuckles to both himself and Ezreal.
"This should finish her off." He grunts as he walks over to her, towering over Sona.
He poises the stolen knife above the nape of her bloodied neck, ready to strike down.
Millions of thoughts and emotions run through Ezreal's head as he watches Otis raise the blade.
"Is she even still alive? How can I stop him? How could I live with myself without Sona? ...What if I ty shooting a mystic shot? But, I don't have my gauntlet, will I have enough arcane power? What if I miss?" He continues rambling in his head before the shuffle of Otis' foot in the grass brings him back to reality.
In a split second he makes his decision. With a painful shout, Ezreal tries his hardest to muster up his own arcane energy without the aid of the gauntlet. Although weaker than usual, he creates a messy wavy blob of arcane energy on his left hand, he then motions his fist forward, firing it at Otis.
Unprepared for the mystic shot, Otis is hit in the chest, tumbling backwards.
"Get away from her! Ezreal roars viciously
He hobbles over Otis, stunned by his attack.
"You!" Ezreal spits angrily.
He pins his arms down with his knees and pulls hack his right fist.
"You absolute piece of…"
The sound of Ezreal's fist colliding with Otis' face drowns out his mumbling.
He swings down his left hand, blind with rage. His gauntlet makes a muffled clang as it smashes against Otis's skull.
Otis' body convulses, cursing and insulting before Ezreal's final punch hits him, his body now dead silent.
Ezreal pants hard, his lungs screaming for air. He retrieves the amulet from the lifeless body, the once shining gem and reflective gold now coated in a layer of red blood.
Still trying to catch his breath, he turns his head.
"Sona, hang in there… please!" Ezreal almost pleads.
The slips the amulet over her head.
"Please work, please!"
The gem dimly lights up again on Sona's chest.
"Please." He says once more, his fingers clasping Sona's hand.
Ezreal looks in relief at the feint glow of the amulet pulses calmingly, similar to a heartbeat. Slowly, the red light dims lower and lower until it disappears, becoming a lifeless red crystal once again.
"It didn't work?" He asks himself, his smile disappearing.
Ezreal stares blankly at the sky, the glare of the sun irritating his eyes.
"It didn't work…"
Ezreal breaks down, he holds Sona's body close to his, her blood smearing onto him.
He sobs and cries, angry at himself.
A soothing hand gently holds onto Ezreal's back as he cries. Ezreal opens eyes immediately.
"Sona?" He asks in pure anticipation
During his breakdown, he hadn't noticed that the slit across Sona's throat had closed up.
She stirs, her eye lids barely opening.
"I'm sorry!" Ezreal exclaims as he holds her tighter.
Her hand strokes down his back, calming him. She then taps his shoulder, pointing at the cyan bag she had carried.
Ezreal nods and retrieves the bag. Sona rummages through it and pulls out a pen and notepad with her shaky hand.
She writes down a message before showing it to him.
"Do you still remember how to play the etwahl?
Ezreal nods, standing up and moving the floating etwahl closer to Sona.
She scribbles more onto the notepad.
"Play the C note"
Ezreal then poises his hands over the delicate strings of the etwahl and plucks the C string. Sona's wounds slowly begin to heal. Ezreal continues to play until Sona can stand.
Without making any other movements, she straight away kisses Ezreal, they press their lips against each other with passion. Staying in their embrace for lasting moments.
"I guess the amulet couldn't give back both your life and your voice." Ezreal says.
Sona smiles, and wipes away a drying tear on Ezreal's check with her thumb.
"I still love you no matter what though" Ezreal grins.
Sona takes off the amulet from around her neck, handing it over to Ezreal.
"Thanks. Come on, let's get back."
Ezreal dives into the bush, avoiding the incoming metal fist from blitzcrank. Shooting a few arcane bolts at Lucian before raising his voice.
"Now Sona!"
She flashes forward in a column of light before playing her crescendo, forcing their opponents to dance. Ezreal follows up with his trueshot barrage, Sona then plays her hymn of valour, Ezreal arcane shifts forward before finishing them off with his mystic shots and arcane bolts.
"Double Kill!" Exclaims the feminine voice of the announcer.
"It feels good to be back." He says to Sona behind him.
She nods.
Suddenly Hecarim charges out of the bushes, swinging his axe around in his hands.
"Oh no…"
