"Bobby. We need to talk."
He really should've seen this coming. He really should've.
When Bobby Walker came home, he had been elated and high on life, eager to tell his parents about the exam. Now, he was worried; how had he not thought of explaining why he suddenly had a Quirk that bore very little, actually, make that no resemblance to any other in his family's history?
"Did you really think we'd never notice?" Marion asked her son, gently but firm. This only filled her son with more worry.
"Um…." Bobby started, but then sighed. "No, I knew you would. Its just…it seemed…."
He honestly did know what he had been thinking.
John stood up and placed a hand on his son's shoulder.
"Little buddy, what exactly did that muscle head tell you about One for All? Yeah, we know about it. Honestly, research with enough time and you can figure it out yourself. That and the guy talks in his sleep."
"…It was given to him from someone else?" Bobby admitted.
"Typical Toshi." John growled in annoyance. "Never saying the important bits or thinking about the people closest to who he talks to."
"Honey." Marion sighed before kneeling to her son's level. "Baby boy? That new Quirk of yours is part of a pair. The other is the exact opposite."
It took less than a millisecond to understand what that meant.
"You mean…."
"But worse." John said with a nod and then unreadable face when he saw his son's confusion. "I saw him once. And Lemme tell ya? All the battles I've fought? The horrors of war? All child's play compared to him. And before you say Toshi finished him off; we never found a body."
Bobby began to sweat profusely.
"His name is Ichiro Shigaraki, but he goes by 'All for One.'" Marion sighed before weakly joking. "Apparently, he and the original One for All user loved the 3 Musketeers growing up."
A weak chuckle came from the trio.
"Toshi DID at least screw him up." John recounted. "Couldn't eat Watermelon or Pasta for a month after what I saw that day…"
"Like you did him. Poor man's already half dead and you tried to put him in a wheelchair!"
From the other room, on a computer screen, where Bobby's seven sisters, all about to give a performance.
"We got to go, bro, but know we love and will support you!" Rachel, the sister Bobby was arguably closest with, cooed. "Oh, and Cyan wants a teddy of your hero costume for her birthday!"
The connection was cut off sadly, but Bobby smiled, happy to see some of his sisters as they continued their 'going on hiatus' tour; The Walker 7 wanted to focus on their family and heroics, put promised their fans they'd occasionally drop a song or two.
The called ended, leaving Bobby with his family, who looked drained just from what they had revealed.
"We'll be here too." Marion assured her son. "In fact….Stars is thinking about coming by at helping at UA."
OTAKU
At the same time, the Midoriya family had received three letters, one for each of their children. From UA. The parents were marching back and fourth in worry, vaguely overhearing certain bits; Izuku saving someone stood out, but ut seemed like things were going well. Still, they anticipated the worst, just to be safe.
So when the door swung open and their three kid smiled brightly…..
"OH, MY BABIES!" Inko bawled
"HALLELIGAH!" Hisashi beamed, accidentally setting off the fire alarm and sprinklers in his excitement.
OTAKU
Ben, despite expecting this to happen, gave a whoop and ran around the neighborhood in joy when he received his letter. His phone suddenly rang, revealing it to be Bella.
"You in?"
"I'm in."
"AMAZING!"
"LETS' A GO!"
OTAKU
As one might suspect, the acceptance rate for UA High School was only 1 in 300. Six people had gotten in due to recommendation, with another forty-six through the regular exam. The Midoriya Triplets, Katsuki, Ben, Bobby, Ghidorah, and Bella had been placed in Class 1-A, one of only two Hero Course classes for that year. Most of the other students were with General Ed, basically a regular high school. There was also Business Course and Support Course classes.
When the Quirky Crew finally arrived at their destined class, they all looked up to see the massive door in front of them.
"Anyone wonder why they need a door that big?" Ben asked.
"Probably to let someone of All-Might's size in." Katsuki shrugged.
"There's plenty of people besides All-Might who are huge, dude." Ghidorah pointed out.
They all headed inside and found their seats. Katsuki kicked up his legs casually to signify that he owned the desk now. Soon enough, a familiar young man approached.
"Take your feet off the desk right now! It's the first day of school and you're already disrespecting it by scuffing school property!"
Ghidorah certainly recognized the boy, beating Katsuki to the punch in confronting him.
"Well, well; if it ain't the little four-eyed suck-up. Still feeling that punch I gave you when you bullied my friend?"
Ghidorah gave a truly intimidating grin, which made the bespectacled boy pale as he went straight before robotically moving to his desk and sitting down. Smirking in vindication, Ghidorah blatantly ignored the disapproving look Izuku gave him as he sat down himself.
"Oh my gosh, it's you!"
Izuku perked up upon the familiar voice and noticed the girl he and Ghidorah rescued in the Entrance Exam.
"I'm so glad we're in the same class! I'm Ochako Uraraka!"
"U-Uh, y-y-yeah! I-I'm Izuku M-Midoriya!" Izuku stuttered, trying his best to ignore the teasing looks his siblings and friends were giving him.
"Walker?"
Bobby looked over to see a tall and maturely bulit young woman with a ponytail looking at him. He stood in shock.
"Wait, Mini-Momo?" He asked. "Is that you?"
Before the girl, who seemed to be smiling, could respond, another voice entered:
"BOBBY!"
Eyes widened even more than already, Bobby's face broke into a hopeful smile before his was blindsided by a short, redheaded girl with a Cloud hairpiece and face that screamed 'adorable.'
"R-Riley?!" Bobby asked. "W-what are…? I thought….Kirby?"
Riley said nothing, just nuzzling her face against Bobby's neck. Bobby suddenly melted into happiness and returned the hug, not seeing many of the awes and coos.
"No way!" Verde gasped. "The legendary Riley herself!"
"She's real!" Haru smiled. "And she and Bobby are adorable! Ben!"
Ben smirked and handed Haru a small wad of cash, but smiled at the couple. Izuku was similar silent, but happy for his friend; recalling what Bobby had mentioned about Riley…
"YOU BASTARD! YOU LUCKY, LUCKY, RICH BASTARD!" The shortest boy they had ever seen snapped. "YOU GOT TWO HOTTIES?!"
Bobby rose an eyebrow, not seeing Momo was giving the girl clinging to him the same treatment, as she in turn glared at Momo.
"…Um, Momo's my childhood best friend." Bobby said as if he was addressing an idiot, then quickly adding: "Before I met you guys, of course."
"We figured." Haru shuggred,
"You mentioned it." Verde nodded.
"No problem, Bob-chan." Izuku finished.
"Please don't call me/him chan." Bobby, Riley and Momo said in unison, the two girls looking at each other in shock and some uncertain.
"Aww, you still hung up on that?"
In walked in two more girls; one a sunny blonde with a body that gave Momo's a run for its money and the other looking like a galaxy in human form. They were holding hands as they did so and the blonde helped the other to a seat before pecking her and making her way over to Bobby and Riley.
Mineta is ELATED to have two lesbians in the class, as evidenced by the nosebleed that sent him flying into a wall.
"...Well, I hate him." Bobby said.
"I think God made him that way." Ghidorah dryly said.
A chuckle filled the air
"And they say you fellas ain't got no sense of humor. Oh, bloody hell, where are me manners? Zack Ryan." The boy in a thick Australian accent carrying a hammer on his back said as he offered a hand to Bobby. "Pleasure to meet a fellow hero kid."
Bobby, still with Riley clinging to him, shook the hand.
"Sky Dancer, right?" Bobby guessed, delighting when Riley's eyes glistened.
"Oh my gosh! Your mom is my idol!"
Zack laughed and shook Riley's hand as well.
"And your old man Falcon is one of my faves." He then returned to Bobby. "Your old man and mine fought a couple times; old Captain Lightning-Bolt says John Doe gave him the best fights of his life."
"Dad's said the same." Bobby smiled. "Eager to see if that carries over?"
"Later." Zack and the blonde girl said together. Zack then made his way out of the way so that the blonde could smile sweetly at Riley.
"Okay sis, I know you've missed him, but we are in class."
Riley pouted but let Bobby go before her sister stood and galred at him. Bobby glared back
"…Um, do you know…?" Ochako whispered to Izuku.
"Apparently, Brittany is VERY protective of her sister." Izuku saying. "And considering how strong she is?"
"If even half the stories Bob's told us true…" Katsuki added, uneasy around the blonde girl; one of the few people he KNEW that he could not defeat.
For a good two minutes not a word was said.
"My threat still stands." Brittany said.
"And I welcome it." Bobby retorted.
The room went silent again for a second
"DAAAAAAAAAAAANG!" A redhead with a scar on his eyebrow hollered.
"THE BALLS ON THIS MAN!" A boy with tape on his shoulders added.
Brittany's glare vanished before she smirked as messed with Bobby's hair and going to the girl she had come with.
"Meet my better half; Michelle Star."
"Hello." Michelle saluted. "Also, you may want to look behind you."
"I hope you came here for more than just making friends, this is the Hero Course."
Hearing the gruff voice seemingly come out of nowhere, everyone turned to see a scruffy man on the ground, wrapped up in a yellow sleeping bag like a caterpillar and lying on his left side. He unzipped the sleeping bag and sipped from a juice pouch.
"My name is Shota Aizawa and I'll be your Homeroom Teacher starting today. Head for your lockers and put on your gym uniforms. We're starting with a Quirk Assessment Test to see what we have to work with."
OTAKU
After getting dressed in their issued PE Uniforms, everyone headed outside to the training grounds out back.
"So...why are we out here?" Bobby asked.
"UA doesn't follow normal course curriculum. After all, you're not just here to further your education... You're here to train to become heroes." Aizawa explained. "Let's start with a quick roll call, make sure everyone is here."
He pulled out his coursebook and began reading through it.
"Yuuga Aoyama."
"Here, merci," Called out the blonde-haired boy Haru met in the practical exam.
"Mina Ashido."
"Here!" Called a pink-skinned, alien-looking girl.
"Tsuyu Asui."
"Here, ribbit," Called a girl with long black-green hair and a frog-like face.
"Tenya Iida."
"Here!" Called out the bespectacled boy Ghidorah punched/called out, hand raised.
"Ochako Uraraka."
"Here!"
"Mashirao Oujiro."
"Here!" Called a blonde boy with a long, muscular tail.
"Denki Kaminari."
"Here!" Called another blonde young man with black lightning bolts marking it, likely due to hair dye.
"Eijirou Kirishima."
"Here!" Called out a red-headed boy, his body looked rather angular for a teenager.
"Kouji Koda."
"Here..." muttered a boy with a rock-shaped head.
"Rikidou Sato."
"Here!" Called out a large young man with big lips.
"Mezo Shouji."
"Here," Calmly called a man wearing a face mask, speaking through the shape-shifting arms that spread from his normal ones.
"Kyouka Jiro."
"Here," Called a girl with dark blue hair, her earlobes extending into plug jacks.
"Hanta Sero."
"Here!" called out a boy with tape dispensers on his elbows, as well as straight rectangular teeth.
"Fumikage Tokoyami."
"Here," Called a young man with a black bird's head, but with regular teeth.
"Shoto Todoroki."
"Here," Said a young man with the left side of his face was scared around the eye, with red hair on that side and white hair on the right side.
"Tooru Hagakure."
"Here!" Called a girl who with wavy, light-green hair, bushy eyelashes, and bright blue eyes.
"Katsuki Bakugo."
"Here."
"Izuku Midoriya."
"Here!"
"Minoru Mineta."
"Here!" Called out the perv.
"Momo Yaoyorozu."
"Here!" Called a young woman who had long, black hair tied back in a large spikey ponytail.
"Verde Midoriya."
"Present, sir."
"Haru Midoriya."
"Hey."
"Benio Kayama."
"Here I am, Uncle 'Zawa!"
"Don't call me that during school hours. Bobby Walker."
"Here!"
"Bella D. Hyna."
"Here!"
"Lor D. Ghidorah."
"Right here, sir. Also, no relation to Bella."
"It's true." Bella added.
"Zack Ryan."
"G'day, sensei!"
"Riley Grin."
"Here!"
"Brittany Grin."
"Yo!"
"Michelle Starr."
"I'm right here."
Aizawa nodded as he closed the coursebook. "Alright, that's everybody. From here on out, your lessons will be much different than the standardized tests you're used to. You'll be receiving practical lessons that will allow you to practice your Quirks and understand their strengths and limitations. The Ministry of Education likes to pretend that 'all men created equal' means that everyone is supposed to be born the same, so they hold the strongest students back. But that's not rational. From this point onward, you will be pushed to your limits."
Izuku found himself being tossed a softball with a black band around it.
"Midoriya, you got the highest score on the practical exam. What's the farthest you've ever thrown a softball in Junior High?"
"U-Um...70 meters, sir..."
"Use your Quirk this time. Any of your four Quirks will do as long as you stand in the circle." Aizawa explained as Izuku nodded and stepped into the circle.
(Mrotrax: Use whatever awesome anime power you can think of to let Izuku get a massive score)
Aizawa checked a PDA before showing it to the rest of the class, who gawked in awe at the immense score of 1999.9 meters...wait, my bad, 2000 meters.
"You all need to know your maximum limit, it's the most rational way of figuring out your potential as a hero."
"Awesome! This is gonna be so fun!" Mina cheered, which earned her a deathly look from Aizawa.
"Don't go thinking something like that right off the bat, Ashido. None of you are here for fun and games. You'll be participating in eight physical exercises to determine your potential. Whoever comes in last will be immediately expelled."
"Hey! How can you expel someone on the first day?!" Riley called out. "That's not fair, we earned our place here!"
"Try asking if it's fair when a bloodthirsty villain is holding a child at knifepoint." Aizawa retorted. "Or when natural disasters and man-made accidents claim lives by the dozens. If you're going to be heroes, you need to learn how to fight back against that unfairness, and you can't do that by just complaining. UA will be pitching one test after another in an effort to break you. You'll only survive by becoming unbreakable. You'll need to be more than strong... You'll need to be Plus Ultra."
"Way to make your sales pitch, Uncle 'Zawa." Ben said, rolling his eyes.
"Problem Child..." Aizawa warningly said, which Ben blatantly ignored with a playful look on his face.
The first test was a 50-Meter Dash.
Izuku used the Paw-Paw fruit to jet to the end while Bella turned into the Road Runner.
"Speedy Gonzales is….well, Road Runner is safer."
Ben uses a Blue Shell and rode it, getting a second in time.
Zack stood up and rose his hammer upwards before turning his back to the end point and shouting:
"HIGHWAY TO HELL!"
Zack swung his hammer down and was repelled backwards to the end point.
"….Why do I suddenly feel redundant?" A boy with yellow and black hair with electricity coursing through his body asked.
Tenya's [Engine] Quirk and Tsuyu's Quirk, [Frog], helped greatly in this regard. Ochako used her Quirk, [Zero-Gravity], to lighten her clothes in order to run faster. Oujiro's Quirk was just called [Tail] but said tail proved to be a powerful and versatile fifth limb.
Yuuga went fast using his Quirk, [Navel Laser], to blast himself backward. Two good shots got him through the 50-meter mark, just behind Mina, who skated ahead using her Quirk, [Acid], an acidic secretion that she could control the pH and viscosity of.
Bobby used [One for All] at his current maximum controlled output to push his speed to the peak of human strength while Katsuki just blasted himself off like a rocket with his explosions.
"THUNDER HYDRA!" Ghidorah shouted, turning into a serpent of pure lightning and bolting across fluidly in the blink of an eye.
Michelle flew across the track gracefully like a traveling comet of stardust. Riley moved across, creating wind pockets under her foot to speed herself across while Britanny glowed with solar fire and ran across the track, burning a trail behind her.
Verde simply appeared at the end of the track so fast, that it was like she had teleported. As for Haru, they used Cyan Laser with [Hyper Color] to dash across.
The second test was Grip Strength. Ghidorah easily aced this one, with a total grip of 560 kilograms with his base strength alone. Just behind him was Shouji, whose use of his [Dupli-Arms] Quirk let him reach 540, and Bobby, with [One for All], got 555.
Verde ended up crushing her device into dust by increasing the magnitude of the vectors in her grip. Haru created a paint clone of Asura from Asura's Wrath with his [Magic Brush] to squeeze his device for him.
Britanny coated herself in solar fire and squeezed her grip device hard until it started melting from the sheer heat. Riley coated her griping hand in hardened crystal to increase her strength.
Next was the Standing Long Jump. While most students only landed inside the box, several, including Katsuki and Yuuga, actually flew past the box.
Test Four was Repeated Side Steps. Minoru actually managed to ace this one, making good use of his [Pop Off] Quirk to bounce back and forth along the lines at high speed. The only one who matched him was Verde, who blurred back and forth so fast, that she left afterimages. As for Haru, they just froze time and did sidesteps normally, but to everyone else, they were moving like a blur.
Then the test returned to the Ball Throw. Since Izuku had already done this as an example, he was exempt.
Long story short, the number 'infinty' came up too many times.
(A/N: I am so sorry, my brain went blank here, imagine all the crazy showing you wish. If need be, I'll come back and add them in.)
"You kids better be grateful I have extra balls on hand," Aizawa said dryly as he finished tallying up everyone's final scores on his PDA.
"Gotta give him credit. He's tough but fair. But just who is he? He's obviously a Pro, but I can't place the name or face." Riley said.
"Are you serious? He's the Erasure Hero: Eraserhead! Only one of the best Underground Pro Heroes ever!" Ben said. "He's like Batman if he was a trashy hobo…and never shaved….and had no sidekicks….and hated publicity to the point of pummeling and or ripping up any franchise deals."
"Watch your mouth, Problem Child," Aizawa warned with a stink eye as Ben merely stuck his tongue out playfully. "I swear, your mother is a bad influence on you..."
Izuku felt a chill as he turned around to see Shoto standing behind him.
"Um, y-yes, can I help you?"
"Midoriya, was it? How is it people as strong as you and your siblings weren't considered for the recommendation exam?"
Katsuki scoffed. "You can't prove your chops by just getting in on recommendation. Everyone knows that."
"You really think it's that easy? Do you know how many promising students are offered recommendations each year?" Shoto retorted. "Iida was also offered a recommendation due to his family history, but wound up falling just short, so he took the entrance exam instead. Those who are offered recommendations still must prove they deserve it. And even if they fail, that doesn't prevent them from entering UA."
Izuku gulped as he felt the other boy's cold gaze on him.
"But I don't remember seeing you at the recommendation exam, and I'm pretty sure you would stand out. And yet you're easily blowing the rest of us out of the water. That much natural talent, and yet..."
"Back off, buddy," Ghidorah said, placing a hand on Shoto's shoulder. "We worked our asses off to get this strong so don't go trying to pick a fight when you yourself haven't been using your ice."
Shoto glared as he grabbed Ghidorah's hand off him, causing it to frost over.
"Half of my Quirk is not truly mine. I will never use it, except to counter the part that is."
A moment of silence filled the room
"…What kind of retarded logic is that?" Britanny finally cut the silence.
"Brit!" Riley and Michelle called out.
"No, its true!" Britanny snapped before returning to the Peppermint boy. "Your power, in your body? YOUR QUIRK! Simple as that!"
"It's a cursed…"
"DON'T." Ghidorah cut off. "There is NO such thing as a cursed Quirk; only a user who uses it poorly. I should know; any of my Quirks would make me the go to baddie, but I'M doing my best and using all I got because I WANT to help people."
"So, hypothetically, if you're ever in a situation where your supposed 'not your fire' could save lives, you'll just let people die?" Michelle asked. "Brit and Riley lost their parents to thinking like that."
Shoto said nothing, instead turning his attention to Bobby, who had been focusing on comforting Riley.
"You are the same as I, Walker." Shoto said. "You never used that power before."
"I'm a late bloomer." Bobby cut him off, irritation clear. "My power awoke last year. I'm still not a hundred percent sure what it can do. But I'm not half assing it."
"I can do without…" Shoto started
"You think like that? Go to general. None of the big heroes ever make it with that kind of talk." Bobby said. "Trust me. I know."
The two stared at each other, glare meeting glare. Shoto's for started to become decorated with frost as electricity danced around Bobby.
"Alright, break it up!" Aizawa snapped, his eyes flashing red. "Knock each other about in mock battles all you like, but there will be no violence against other students during normal school hours. I'd prefer not to use my Quirk too much. I get dry eye, dammit!"
With the drama over, Aizawa showed everyone their final scores on a holographic chart.
"First thing I should mention... I was partially bluffing. Sorry for the lie, but I had to make sure each of you took these tests seriously."
"LIAR!" Ben called out. "You expelled a whole class last year, Uncle 'Zawa!"
"They either showed no potential or thought they could just use their Quirks to cruise by without putting in the work." Aizawa retorted. "Besides, I brought them back after I saw they learned their lesson in the end."
"I see..." Momo hummed, troubled at the information she had just heard.
"Your real training starts tomorrow," Aizawa said. "And most likely these initial standings will change several times over the course of your next three years."
"Guys, this is Momo Yayorozu." Bobby smiled
'Damn those are huge!' Brittany, Riley, Michelle and Verde thought.
"Momo, this is Riley Grin." Bobby smiled even more warmly. "She's…"
"I'm his girlfriend." Riley said.
Momo beamed and squealed, taking Riley's hands into her own.
"Tell me everything, spare no details!"
Riley was surprised by this, but Momo soon answered her question. "Bobby, she's beautiful! How? Also, full disclosures, thought you were gay or asexual."
Bobby blushed and looked away.
"….Riley or nobody." He whispered to the side.
"How about we all catch up some lunch?" Ben suggested. "My treat? A last meal before classes start?"
"Wait…CLASSES ACTUALLY START TOMORROW?!" Bella hollered. "OOOOH, I'M DYING!"
Devil Dragon Stand Knight A/N:
And so ends another glorious chapter. Be sure to Fav, Follow, and Comment, and tell us of any ideas you'd like to see in action! Preferably Anime, Cartoon, and Video Game power Izuku, Bella, and Ben can respectively use!
Mrotrax A/N:
Prepare for a LONG one!
As DDSK said, we are happy to hear any suggestions for the Multi-Quirk users to show off their powers. And hopefully, the legends Ghidorah spoke of will hopefully be explained soon.
Again, I am SO sorry for skipping the ball toss; but DDSK has been unbelievable patient in seeing this chapter, so I decided to sacrifice that bit. As stated, if I get enough ideas, i will go back and adding them in.
Zack Ryan, the Austrailain Transfer student, belongs to a good friend and fellow writer, Autistic Grizzly. He has so far (to my knowledge) appeared in only one story: 'My Hero Black Lightning'. Go and give that a read if you can. AG, if he has appeared in other stories that I have missed, let me know
No Isabella Delavega this time around, but you'll see more of her in the coming Pen-Pal stories. Michelle Star is now a student with an Alien X like look, which us sure to be a fun challenge to write. Also, Bella's reaction classes starting right away was exactly my reaction to college.
I know that last chapter, I hinted how Bobby gaining One For All would cause drama in this story, and I aim to keep that plot point up. However, as I thought about it, I realized that its way too early for politics and backstabbing to get involved in this story, so that drama may have to wait quite a while. Did I make the right call, or do you think I could've added some more 'OFA in an American boy's hands' drama into this chapter? Leave your thoughts in a review, please and thank you.
Always have fun writing scenes between Bobby and Riley, and hope you guys liked the early showing/proving of Momo's intellect.
Until we meet again; read and review, would ye kindly?
