New Earth
It had now been four months since the Christmas incident and both Rose and Alyssa where leaving the Powell estate to go travelling with the Doctor yet again. Both the Doctor and Alyssa stood outside the Tardis as Rose said her goodbyes to Jackie and Mickey before heading into the Tardis where both the Doctor and Alyssa where waiting for her.
"So where are we going? " Rose asked.
"yeah, where are we going this time?" Alyssa piped up, beaming.
"Further than we've ever gone before" the Doctor replied with a grin before setting the controls, putting the Tardis in flight, the three of them holding onto the mushroom shaped console until they came to a stop.
"So where have we landed this time?" Rose asked.
"Go and see" the Doctor replied and both Rose and Alyssa stepped out to see a large futuristic city in the distance with cars flying overhead. The Doctor shorlty joined the two girls and stood behind them, his hands in his pockets.
"It's the year five billion and twenty three. We're in the galaxy M87, and this? This is New Earth" he explained.
"That's just. That's just" Rose gasped as Alyssa stared silently at the large city, open mouthed.
"Not bad. Not bad at all" the Doctor said.
"It's really cool" Alyssa pointed out.
"That's amazing. I'll never get used to this. Never. Different ground beneath my feet, different sky" Rose said in excitment, jumping up and down on her feet before stopping to look at the Doctor "What's that smell? "
"Apple grass" the Doctor said.
"Apple grass?" Alyssa asked "you mean grass that smells like apple?"
"Yeah, yeah" the Doctor replied "but I don't think it will taste like apples though so probably best not to have a taste."
" It's beautiful. Oh, I love this. Can I just say, travelling with you, I love it" Rose pointed out.
"So do I" Alyssa said, grinning up at him.
"Me too. Come on" the Doctor replied before taking both girls by the hand and the three of them ran through the apple grass before stopping to have a sit down.
"So, the year five billion, the sun expands, the Earth gets roasted" the Doctor said, remembering their first adventure together.
"Yeah I remember that, we had chips" Alyssa piped up.
" We had chips" the Doctor chuckled "So anyway, planet gone, all rocks and dust, but the human race lives on, spread out across the stars. Soon as the Earth burns up, oh yeah, they get all nostalgic, big revival movement, but then find this place. Same size as the Earth, same air, same orbit. Lovely. Call goes out, the humans move in. "
"What's the city called? " Rose asked.
" New New York" the Doctor replied.
" Oh, come on" Rose said.
" It is. It's the city of New New York. Strictly speaking, it's the fifteenth New York since the original, so that makes it New New New New New New New New New New New New New New York" he explained before noticing that both Rose and Alyssa where looking at him in a strange way "What?"
"It's just, you're so different" Alyssa pointed out.
"New New Doctor" the Doctor replied, unaware that the three of them were being watched.
"Can we go and visit New New York, so good they named it twice?" Rose asked.
"Well, I thought we might go there first" the Doctor suggested, gesturing to a moon shaped building on the coast with curved skyscrapers.
"Why, what is it?" Alyssa asked.
" Some sort of hospital. Green moon on the side. That's the universal symbol for hospitals. I got this. A message on the psychic paper" the Doctor said, showing the girls a message on his phycic paper which read out WARD 26 PLEASE COME "Someone wants to see me."
" Hmm. And I thought we were just sight-seeing. Come on, then. Let's go and buy some grapes" Rose said as the three of them stood up and headed towards the hospital, unaware that the thing spying on them was now moving away.
"I'll tell you something though,Hospitals, not one of my favourite places in the world" the Doctor pointed out.
"Bit rich coming from you" Rose said as they entered the building.
"I can't help it. I don't like hospitals. They give me the creeps" the Doctor pointed out as a female voice began speaking over the tannoy.
"The Pleasure Gardens will now take visitors carrying green or blue identification cards for the next fifteen minutes. Visitors are reminded that cuttings from the gardens are not permitted. "
"Very smart. Not exactly NHS" Rose pointed out.
"No shop. I like the little shop" the Doctor complained when he noticed that there was no shop.
"Me too" Alyssa agreed.
" I thought this far in the future, they'd have cured everything" Rose pointed out.
"The human race moves on, but so do the viruses. It's an ongoing war" the doctor explained just as Alyssa noticed that the nurses where humanoid cats in nun like wimples and habits.
"Doctor, the nurses are cats" the small girl pointed out.
"Now, don't stare" the Doctor warned her "Think what you look like to them, all pink and yellow."
"Sorry" Alyssa replied before kneeling down to tie her shoe laces as the Doctor and rose went into the lift. By the time she finished tying her laces, Alyssa ran to the lift where Rose and the Doctor was.
"Hey wait up" she yelled but the doors closed before she could get in.
"Oh too, late, we're going up" the Doctor said.
" It's all right, there's another lift" Alyssa pointed out as she walked into the next lift.
"And watch out for the disinfectant" the Doctor warned her over the tannoy.
"Watch out for what?" Alyssa asked.
"The disinfectant" the Doctor told her again.
" The what?" Alyssa asked again.
'Oh you'll find out" the Doctor replied because he realized that Alyssa couldn't probably hear him.
"Do you think she'll be ok?" Rose asked.
"Yeah, she'll meet us on the ward" the Doctor said. Meanwhile, Alyssa had told the lift to take her to ward 26 but little did she know that the lift was taking her down instead of up and jets of steam and water where ejected from the sides, spraying Alyssa with disinfectant and drying her down until the lift came to a stop.
"Well, looks like I'm here" she pointed out as the lift doors opened and Alyssa slowly stepped out to find herself on a basement ward, covered in rubbish "Doctor, Rose, are you here?"
"The human child is clean" a voice said from behind her and Alyssa jumped around to see a pale humanoid figure in Hospital scrubs and weird patterns on his face.
" Er, I'm looking for Ward 26?" Alyssa said nervoulsy, not knowing what was going on.
"This way, Alyssa benson" the figure said before turning round and heading further down the corridor. Alyssa was confused as to how the strange person knew her name but she picked up a crowbar and slowly followed him down the corridor and into a small room where there was a film being shown on a projector where there was a woman talking to a bunch of people at a party and her voice sounded very familiar.
"I mean, you never know what your life is going to be like, ever. I'm bored with this drink. Anyway. Oh, hello darling! Now, don't. Stop it."
"Wait a minute, that's" Alyssa said before she turned around to see Cassandra, the weird trampoline woman from Platform one.
"Peekaboo!" Cassandra said.
"Don't you come anywhere near me, Cassandra" Alyssa warned, brandishing the crowbar but her voice was still shaking.
"Why? What do you think I'm going to do? Flap you to death? " Cassandra asked sarcasticly.
" Yeah, but what about Gollum? " Alyssa asked, gesturing to the humanoid figure that was standing with Cassandra.
"Oh that's just Chip. He's my pet" Cassandra explained.
" I worship the mistress" said Chip.
"Moisturise me, moisturise me" Cassandra said and Chip sprayed her "He's not even a proper life form. He's a force grown clone. I modelled him on my favourite pattern. But he's so faithful. Chip sees to my physical needs."
"How comes you're still alive? " Alyssa asked.
"After you and your friends murdered me" Cassandra pointed out.
"That was your own fault" Alyssa pointed out. She was getting slightly terrified now, she was down here all alone with a phycotic trampoline woman who had unleashed robotic spiders on platform one during her first adventure with the Doctor and Rose. She remembered how they had disabled the sun filters and almost killing her and Rose.
"The brain of my mistress survived. And her pretty blue eyes were salvaged from the bin" Chip explained.
"What about the skin? I saw it. You, you got ripped apart" Alyssa pointed out, her voice now shaking.
" That piece of skin was taken from the front of my body. This piece is the back" Cassandra replied.
"The mistress was lucky to survive. Chip secreted m'lady into the hospital" said Chip as Alyssa slowly began backing away.
"So they don't know you're here? " Alyssa asked now beginning to think that the Doctor and Rose were probably wondering where she was.
"Chip steals medicine. Helps m'lady. Soothes her, strokes her" Chip said.
"You can stop right there, Chip." Alyssa barked.
"But I'm so alone, hidden down here. The last Human in existence" Cassandra replied with an eye roll.
"Don't start that again. They've called this planet New Earth" Alyssa pointed out.
"A vegetable patch" Cassandra said with little interest.
"And there's millions of Humans out there. Millions of them" the small girl inquired, trying to act brave but was clearly getting scared now.
"Mutant stock" Cassandra scoffed, rolling her eyes again.
"They evolved, Cassandra. They just evolved, like they should. You stayed still. You got yourself all pickled and preserved, and what good did it do you? " Alyssa asked.
"Oh, I remember that night. Drinks for the Ambassador of Thrace. That was the last time anyone told me I was beautiful. After that it all became such hard work" Cassandra inquired, gesturing to the home movie that was still playing.
"Well, you've got a knack for survival, I'll give you that" Alyssa pointed out.
"But I've not been idle, Alyssa,tucked away underneath this hospital. I've been listening. The Sisters are hiding something" Cassandra told her.
"What do you mean? " Alyssa asked, gripping the crowbar tighter.
"Oh these cats have secrets. Hush, let me whisper. Come close" Cassandra told her.
"You must be joking if you think I'm coming anywhere near you" Alyssa chuckled as she went to move away but found herself unable to move as energy beams held her hands.
"Chip, activate the psychograft" Cassandra told her humanoid companion, sneering at the little girl's helplessness.
" I can't move. Cassandra, let me go! What're you doing? " Alyssa screamed as lights beamed down from the contraption above her, forming a cage like object around her.
"The lady's moving on. It's goodbye trampoline, and hello small fry" Cassandra said with victory as energy lifted from the Trampoline and into Alyssa's small body, causing her to collapse onto the floor as the device switched off.
"Mistress? " Chip asked, slowly making his way to the small girl who was slowly beginning to pull herself up.
" Moisturise me" Alyssa/Cassandra muttered as she sat up "How bizarre. Arms, fingers, hair! Let me see! Let me see!" she jumped up and ran over to the mirror "oh my god, I'm a brat,but still, at least I get to be young again."
"Oh, the brain lead expired. My old mistress is gone" Chip stated.
"But safe and sound in here" Alyssa/cassandra replied, pointing at her head.
"But what of the Alyssa Child's mind?" Chip asked.
"Oh, tucked away. I can just about access the surface memory. She's. Gosh, she's with the Doctor. A man. He's the Doctor. The same Doctor with a new face and she's with that other friend of hers too, that Rose Tyler, hmm, perhaps I can take over her body, once I get fed up with being in the body of this little brat" Alyssa/Cassandra hissed. Suddenly a phone started ringing and Alyssa/cassandra pulled it out of her jeans pocket. The Doctor had given Alyssa a Mobile phone as a Christmas present.
"Oh, it seems to be ringing. Is it meant to ring? " Alyssa/Cassandra asked.
"A primitive communications device" Chip explained as Alyssa/Cassandra put it to her ear.
"Alyssa, where are you, me and Rose are starting to get worried about you" The Doctor's voice said over the other end.
"How does she speak?" Alyssa/cassandra whispered.
"Old Earth Cockney" Chip whispered and Alyssa/cassandra began speaking into the phone.
"Er, wotcha" Alyssa/cassandra said,doing a cockney impression.
"Where've you been? How long does it take to get to Ward 26?" the Doctor asked over the other end.
" I'm on my way, governor" Alyssa/Cassandra replied " I shall proceed up the apples and pears."
" You'll never guess" the Doctor replied " me and Rose are with the face of boe, remember him?"
" Of course I do." Alyssa/ cassandra replied with an eye roll "that big old, boat race."
"I'd better go. See you in a minute" the Doctor replied before hnaging up. Alyssa/Cassandra grinned and placed the phone back in her jeans pockets.
"This Doctor man is dangerous" Chip pointed out.
" Dangerous and clever. I might need a mind like his. The Sisterhood is up to something. Remember that Old Earth saying, never trust a Nun? Never trust a Nurse. And never trust a cat" Alyssa/Cassandra pointed out before turning to chip "Perfume?" Chip handed her a small perfume vial and she put it in her other jeans pocket. She then grinned in a sinister manner and made her way towards the lift to make her way up to ward 26 where she was greeted by the Doctor and Rose who looked relieved to see her, unaware that she was possessed.
" There you are" the Doctor said, pulling her over to one of the patients " Come and look at this patient. Marconi's Disease. Should take years to recover. Two days. I've never seen anything like it. They've invented a cell washing cascade. It's amazing. Their medical science is way advanced. And this one" he guided her over to another patient who was as white as his hospital gown "Pallidome Pancrosis. Kills you in ten minutes, and he's fine. I need to find a terminal. I've got to see how they do this. Because if they've got the best medicine in the world, then why is it such a secret?."
" I can't Adam and Eve it" Alyssa/Cassandra replied, inspecting her nails.
"Ali, what's with the voice?" Rose asked, noticing that the younger girl was talking more differently than she normally did.
" Oh, I don't know. Just larking about. New Earth, new me" Alyssa/Cassandra replied.
"You feeling okay?" the Doctor asked, feeling her forehead "maybe we should get one of the sisters to check you out."
"Oh I'm fine" Alyssa/Cassandra replied "in fact, I've never felt better."
"Well Okay then, but there's something I need to investigate" the Doctor replied. As Rose and Alyssa followed him, Rose couldn't shake off the feeling that there wasn't something right with the younger girl. When they got to the Computer terminal, the Doctor began inspecting it as the other two looked on.
"Nope, nothing odd. Surgery, post-op, nano-dentistry. No sign of a shop. They should have a shop" the Doctor pointed out.
"No, it's missing something else. When I was downstairs, those Nurse Cat Nuns were talking about Intensive Care. Where is it? " Alyssa/Cassandra asked.
"You're right. Well done" the Doctor beamed, patting the young girl on the back.
"Why would they hide a whole department? It's got to be there somewhere. Search the sub-frame" Rose said.
"What if the sub-frame's locked?" the Doctor asked.
"Try the installation protocol" Alyssa/cassandra told him.
"Yeah. Of course. Sorry. Hold on" the Doctor said as he used his sonic screwdriver on the interface, causing the whole wall to fall down and reveal a corridor " Intensive Care. Certainly looks intensive." The three of them headed down the corridor and into a chamber which was filled with cells. The Doctor opened one of them to reveal a very sick looking man and Alyssa/cassandra looked at him with disgust.
"That's disgusting. What's wrong with him?" Alyssa/cassandra asked, scrunching up her nose and Rose was now begining to get suspicious with the younger girl, she had a feeling that there definatly wasn't something right with her.
" I'm sorry. I'm so sorry" the doctor said sympatheticly before closing the door and opening the next one to reveal a young woman who looked just as sick as the man in the previous cell.
"What disease is that?" Rose asked.
"All of them. Every single disease in the galaxy. They've been infected with everything" the Doctor replied.
"What about us? Are we safe?" Alyssa/ cassandra asked.
"The air's sterile. Just don't touch them" the Doctor explained as he closed the door.
" How many patients are there?" Rose asked.
"They're not patients" the Doctor pointed out.
"But they're sick" Alyssa/cassandra scoffed. Rose now had a gut feeling that there was something wrong with Alyssa, the little girl would have never displayed this kind of attitude in a situation like this.
" They were born sick. They're meant to be sick. They exist to be sick. Lab rats. No wonder the Sisters have got a cure for everything. They've built the ultimate research laboratory. A human farm" the Doctor explained.
"Why don't they just die?" Alyssa/cassandra asked.
"Plague carriers. The last to go" the doctor pointed out as one of the cat nuns approached the three of them.
"It's for the greater cause' she said.
" Novice Hame, When you took your vows, did you agree to this? " the Doctor asked with pure anger in his voice.
"The Sisterhood has sworn to help" Hame replied.
"What, by killing? " a now furious Doctor asked.
" But they're not real people. They're specially grown. They have no proper existence" Hame explained.
"What's the turnover, hmm? Thousand a day? Thousand the next? Thousand the next? How many thousands? For how many years? How many! " the Doctor yelled. he was now very furious.
"Mankind needed us. They came to this planet with so many illnesses. We couldn't cope. We did try. We tried everything. We tried using clone-meat and bio-cattle, but the results were too slow, so the Sisterhood grew its own flesh. That's all they are. Flesh" Hame explained.
"These people are alive" the Doctor pointed out.
" But think of those Humans out there, healthy and happy, because of us" Hame replied, trying to reason with the furious Doctor.
" If they live because of this, then life is worthless" the Doctor replied.
"But who are you to decide that?" Hame asked.
"I'm the Doctor. And if you don't like it, if you want to take it to a higher authority, then there isn't one. It stops with me" the Doctor declared.
"Just to confirm. None of the humans in the city actually know about this?" Alyssa/cassandra asked.
"We thought it best not" Hame replied.
" Hold on. I can understand the bodies. I can understand your vows. One thing I can't understand. What have you done to Alyssa?" the Doctor asked as he now was begining to suspect that something wasn't right with his younger assistant but Alyssa/cassandra could only stand there and roll her eyes with her arms folded.
"I don't know what you mean" Hame insisted.
"And I'm being very, very calm. You want to be aware of that. Very, very calm. And the only reason I'm being so very, very calm is that the brain is a delicate thing. Whatever you've done to Alyssa's head, I want it reversed" the Doctor barked.
" Yeah, what have you done to her?" Rose asked.
"We haven't done anything" Hame replied.
" I'm perfectly fine" Alyssa/Cassandra insisted.
"These people are dying and Alyssa would care" the Doctor said as Alyssa/cassandra smirked and started making her way towards the Doctor.
" Oh, all right, clever clogs. Smarty pants" she chided, grabbing him by the tie.
"What's happened to you? " the Doctor asked the small girl.
"I knew something was going on in this hospital, but I needed this body and your mind to find it out" Alyssa/cassandra explained.
"Who are you?" the Doctor asked, now begining to suspect that it wasn't Alyssa and that something had taken over her. The small girl smirked even more and pulled the Doctor's tie so that his face was level with hers and whispered in his ear.
"The last human."
" Cassandra? " the Doctor asked with a confused expression on his face.
" Wake up and smell the perfume" Alyssa/cassandra said as she took out the perfume vial from his pocket and squirted it up his nose, causing him to pass out.
"Doctor" Rose yelled as she ran over to him.
"Oh don't fret blondy, he isn't dead,yet" Alyssa/cassandra replied with amusement.
"Get out of her Cassandra" Rose barked, striding over to the small girl and grabbing her by the shoulders "let Alyssa go."
"Oh don't worry I will, I've had enough of being in the body of a brat, but I think I might move onto another body, some one more older and more womanly" Alyssa/cassandra replied before pink energy emitted from her mouth and went into Rose. Alyssa stumbled around, confused.
'Wha-what happened/" she asked.
"Oh sweet lord, I'm a chav now" Rose/cassandra pointed out as Alyssa backed herself up against the railing.
"You've hurt him. I don't understand. I'll have to fetch Matron" Hame said as she looked at the unconscious Doctor on the floor.
"You do that, because I want to see her. Now, run along. Sound the alarm! " Rose/cassandra ordered before pulling out a power cable, setting off the alarm. She then lifted the Doctor up from the ground and placed him in one of the empty cells as Alyssa looked on in shock.
"You know, it was fun taking over your body but your far to common, but I guess Rose will perfect until I find someone better" Rose/cassandra told the young girl who was keeping far away from her as possible.
"Just get out of her" Alyssa barked.
"Oh do shut up brat or I'll put you in one of the cells, you're lucky that I've let you go, now be quiet or I'll take over your body again and I'll stay there forever" Rose/cassandra barked and Alyssa fell silent as banging came from the cell and the Doctor's voice could be heard calling from it just as Chip arrived.
"Let me out! Let me out!" he yelled from inside as Rose/cassandra slinked over.
"Aren't you lucky there was a spare? Standing room only" Rose/cassandra chided.
"You've stolen Rose's body" the Doctor realized when he noticed that Rose was talking just like Alyssa was when Cassandra took over her body " what have you done with Alyssa?"
"Your little brat friend is perfectly fine, she's out here with me right now, she's been a very good little girl, that's why I didn't put her in one of the cells" Rose/cassandra replied " Over the years, I've thought of a thousand ways to kill you, Doctor. And now, that's exactly what I've got. One thousand diseases. They pump the patients with a top-up every ten minutes. You've got about three minutes left. Enjoy."
" Just let Rose go, Cassandra" the Doctor told her " you managed to let Alyssa go, surely you can let Rose go too."
"I will. As soon as I've found someone younger, and less common, then I'll junk her with the waste. Now hushaby. It's showtime" Rose/Cassandra replied as two more cat nuns arrived, one of them being sister Jatt, the matron.
"Anything we can do to help? " the Matron asked as Rose/cassandra grabbed Alyssa by the arm, holding her captive.
"Straight to the point, Whiskers. I want money" Rose/Cassandra said as Alyssa struggled to break free.
"The Sisterhood is a charity. We don't give money. We only accept" Jatt's assistant pointed out.
"The humans across the water pay you a fortune, and that's exactly what I need. A one-off payment, that's all I want. Oh, and perhaps a yacht. In return for which, I shall tell the city nothing of your institutional murder. Is that a deal?" Rose/cassandra asked.
"I'm afraid not" Jatt's assistant replied.
I'd really advise you to think about this" Rose/cassandra said, gripping tighter onto Alyssa's wrist to prevent her from struggling.
" Oh, there's no need. I have to decline" Jatt said.
"I'll tell them, and you've no way of stopping me. You're not exactly Nuns with Guns. You're not even armed" Rose/Cassandra scoffed.
"Who needs arms when we have claws? Jatt said as she unleashed her claws with a cat hiss.
" Well, nice try" Rose/cassandra pointed out before turning to Chip "Chip? Plan B. " Chip pulled the lever on the wall which opened all the doors to the cell, causing all the diseased people including the doctor to break free.
" What've you done?" the Doctor asked as he pulled Alyssa away from Rose/ cassandra. The little girl clung to his arm for dear life.
"Gave the system a shot of adrenaline, just to wake them up. See you! " Rose/cassandra chided before she and chip bolted down the corridor.
"Doctor" Alyssa said in a scared voice, clinging tighter to his arm as th diseased people began moving towards them in a zombie like manner.
"Don't touch them! Whatever you do, don't touch!" he warned the two cat nuns before he and Alyssa ran after Rose/ cassandra and chip, catching up to them on a cat walk on the other side of the chamber.
"Oh, my God" Rose/Cassandra pointedo ut as one of the patients touched one of the cat nuns, causing her to scream and die.
"What the hell have you done?" the Doctor asked.
" It wasn't me" Rose/cassandra insisted.
"One touch and you get every disease in the world, and I want that body safe, Cassandra. We've got to go down" the Doctor pointed out before he ran down the stairs, Alyssa clinging onto his hand.
"But there's thousands of them!" Rose/Cassandra pointed out.
" Run! Down! Down! Go down! " the Doctor yelled and Rose/cassandra and chip followed the other two as the patients advanced towards them. As the four of them ran further down, they heard the tannoy speaking out.
"This building is under , this building is under quarantine. No one may leave the premises. Repeat, no one may leave the premises."
" Keep going! Go down" the Doctor instructed. When they reached the bottom of the stairs, Rose/cassandra headed for the lifts but found that they were not working.
"No, the lifts have closed down. That's the quarantine. Nothing's moving" the doctor explained.
"This way!" Rose/cassandra yelled leading the Doctor and Alyssa down the corridor. Chip went to follow but he got cut off from some more diseased patients.
"Someone will touch him" the doctor pointed our, running back for chip but Rose/cassandra stopped him.
" Leave him! He's just a clone thing. He's only got a half life. Come on!" Rose/cassandra yelled as she ran further down the corrdior.
"Mistress!" Chip begged as the patients moved closer to him.
" I'm sorry, I can't let her escape" the Doctor said apologeticly before chasing after Rose/cassandra, Alyssa still clinging to his hand. Rose/cassandra ran to the back door, only to find that it was blokced off by more diseased patients.
"We're trapped! What am I going to do? " Rose/cassandra asked, panic in her voice.
" Well, for starters, you're going to leave that body. That psychograft is banned on every civilised planet. You're compressing Rose to death" the Doctor barked.
" But I've got nowhere to go. My original skin's dead" Rose/cassandra pointed out.
"Not my problem. You can float as atoms in the air. Now, get out" the Doctor barked before pointing his sonic screwdriver at her "Give her back to me."
"You heard him" Alyssa snapped.
"You asked for it" Rose/cassandra replied before taking a deep breath, releasing the pink energy again, causing it float into the Doctor. He let go of Alyssa and the little girl ran over to Rose.
" Blimey, my head. Where'd she go? " a confused Rose asked.
"I think she went into the Doctor" Alyssa pointed out.
" Oh, my. This is different" Doctor/cassandra pointed out.
"Cassandra?" Rose asked, looking at the Doctor with confusion.
"Goodness me, I'm a man. Yum. So many parts" Doctor/cassandra said as he twirled around "And hardly used. Oh, oh, two hearts! Oh, baby, I'm beating out a samba!."
"Get out of him" Rose barked.
"Oo, he's slim" Doctor/cassandra pointed out, running his hands down his sides "and a little bit foxy" he raised is eyebrows before slowly slinking over to Rose " You've thought so too. I've been inside your head. You've been looking. You like it" before Rose could reply, the diseased patients burst in and Doctor/cassandra began tugging on Rose's arm " What do we do? What would he do? The Doctor, what the hell would he do?"
"Ladder. We've got to get up" Rose said, noticing the ladder.
"Out of the way blondy and small fry" Doctor/cassandra barked, shoving both girls out of the way before descending up the ladder. Rose and Alyssa began following him up the ladder as the patients advanced zombie like towards them.
"If you get out of the Doctor's body, he can think of something" Rose pointed out.
"Yap, yap, yap. God, it was tedious inside your head. Hormone city" Doctor/cassandra scoffed.
"We're going to die if" Alyssa stated before the matron suddenly appeared behind her, grabbing her by the ankle "get off."
"All our good work. All that healing. The good name of the Sisterhood. You have destroyed everything" Jatt explained.
"Go and play with a ball of string" Doctor/cassandra scoffed.
"Everywhere, disease. This is the human world. Sickness!" Jatt pointed out before one of the patients grabbed hold of her ankle, causing her to fall down, screaming.
"Move!" Rose urged and Doctor/cassandra began moving quicker up the ladder, both girls following after him as the tannoy spoke out again.
" Maximum quarantine. Divert all shuttles. " The quarantine system had disabled all doors and they would not open, trapping Doctor/cassandra, Rose and alyssa on thel adder with the patients moving towards them.
" Help us" one of the patients gasped.
"Now what do we do?" Doctor/cassandra asked.
" Use the sonic screwdriver" Rose urged.
"You mean this thing?" Doctor/cassandra asked, holding and looking at the sonic screwdriver like it was something discusting.
"Yes, I mean that thing" Rose pointed out.
" Well, I don't know how. That Doctor's hidden away all his thoughts" Doctor/cassandra replied.
"Hurry up" Alyssa squealed as the patients got closer.
"Cassandra, go back into me. The Doctor can open it. Do it!" Rose ordered.
"Hold on tight" Doctor/cassandra replied before transferring the energy back inside Rose.
"Oh, chavtastic again" Rose/cassandra said with a sigh "Open it."
"Not till you get out of her" the Doctor barked.
"We need the Doctor" Rose/cassandra pointed out.
" I order you to leave her" the Doctor barked and the energy flew out of Rose, back into the Doctor "No matter how difficult the situation, there is no need to shout."
"Cassandra, get out of him!" Alyssa yelled.
"But I can't go back into either of you two" Doctor/cassandra pointed out " he simply refuses. He's so rude. "
"We don't care, just do something" Rose urged.
" Oh, I am so going to regret this" Doctor/cassandra said with a shudder before transferring the energy into a diseased woman.
" Oh, sweet Lord. I look disgusting" woman/cassandra pointed out as the Doctor managed to get the door open and he and the two girls climbed out.
"Nice to have you back" the Doctor said to Rose with a smile.
"No, you don't" woman/cassandra said in a sinister manner before transferring the energy back into Rose.
"That was your last warning, Cassandra! " the Doctor barked as Rose/cassandra sat up against the wall.
" Inside her head. They're so alone. They keep reaching out, just to hold us. All their lives and they've never been touched" she whipsered and the doctor offered his hand out to her and they headed back to ward 26 just as another one of the cat nuns approached the three of them, holding a metal stand.
"We're safe! We're safe! We're safe! We're clean! We're clean! Look, look" the Doctor insisted.
"Show me your skin" the cat ordered.
"Look, clean. Look, if we'd been touched" the Doctor said as he and the girls showed the cat their unaffected skin "we'd be dead. So how's it going up here? What's the status? "
"here's nothing but silence from the other wards. I think we're the only ones left. And I've been trying to override the quarantine. If I can trip a signal over to New New York, they can send a private executive squad" the cat explained.
"You can't do that. If they forced entry, they'd break quarantine" the Doctor replied.
" I am not dying in here" the cat insisted.
"We can't let a single particle of disease get out. There is ten million people in that city. They'd all be at risk. Now, turn that off!" the Doctor ordered, indicating to the quarantine button.
" Not if it gets me out" the cat replied.
"All right, fine. So I have to stop you lot as well. Suits me. Rose, Alyssa,novice Hame, everyone! Excuse me, your Grace. Get me intravenous solutions for every single disease. Move it! " the Doctor yelled and everyone began running around, grabbing drip bags whilst the Doctor grabbed a long piece of silk rope before attaching the drip bags to them.
" How's that? Will that do?" he asked.
"I don't know. Will it do for what?" Rose/ cassandra asked as the Doctor opened the lift doors "The lifts aren't working."
" Not moving. Different thing. Here we go" the Doctor replied before placing the sonic screwdriver between his teeth and he ran towards the lift.
" But you're not going to" Rose/cassandra said as he jumped on the lift cable "What do you think you're doing?"
" I'm going down! Come on!" the Doctor yelled as he attached a round piece of equipment onto the cable.
"Not in a million years" Rose/cassandra scoffed, folding her arms as Alyssa jumped on the Doctor's back.
" I need another pair of hands. What do you think? If you're so desperate to stay alive, why don't you live a little?" the Doctor asked just as the patients began approaching Rose/cassandra and she jumped onto the Doctor.
"You're completely mad. I can see why she likes you" Rose/cassandra pointed out.
"Going down!" the doctor said and the device he invented caused him to absail down the cable with both girls clinging onto them, all three of them screaming until they came to a gentle stop on top of the lift.
"Well, that's one way to lose weight" Rose/cassandra pointed out as she and Alyssa jumped off the Doctor.
"Now, listen. When I say so, take hold of that lever" the Doctor instructed, pointing to a lever on the wall.
"There's still a quarantine down there, we can't " Rose/cassandra pointed out.
" Hold that lever!" the Doctor told her again "I'm cooking up a cocktail. I know a bit about medicine myself." He then began to pour the drip bag contents into a large tank.
"So what's going to happen now?" Alyssa asked.
"That lever's going to resist" the Doctor replied before turning to Rose/cassandra "But keep it in position. Hold onto it with everything you've got."
"What about you?" Rose/cassandra asked.
"I've got an appointment. The Doctor is in" the Doctor replied with a grin before dropping into the lift himself. The doors opened and the diseased patients turned around and saw the Doctor.
"I'm in here! Come on!" he chided.
"Don't tell them" Rose/cassandra yelled.
'Leave him, he knows what he's doing" Alyssa pointed out.
"Pull that lever!" the Doctor yelled before turning to the diseased patients "Come and get me. Come on!, I'm in here! Come on!."
"Commence stage one disinfection" the tannoy spoke out.
"Hurry up! Come on! " he yelled as the contents from the disinfectant tank began to pour onto him "Come on, come on" the disinfectant began pouring onto the patients and they began to touch each other " All they want to do is pass it on. Pass it on!."
"Pass on what? Pass on what?" Rose/cassandra asked.
" Pass it on! " the Doctor yelled again as the patients continued to tocuh each other and soon their skin became more normal. The Doctor then helped Rose/cassandra and Alyssa of the top of the lift.
"What did they pass on? Did you kill them? All of them?" Rose/cassandra asked.
"No. That's your way of doing things" the Doctor pointed out as he showed them both the now cured people " I'm the Doctor, and I cured them" a woman came up to the Doctor and hugged him "That's right. Hey, there we go, sweetheart. Go to him. Go on, that's it" he handed her over to a nearby man "That's it. It's a new sub-species, Cassandra. A brand new form of life. New humans! Look at them. Look! Grown by cats, kept in the dark, fed by tubes, but completely, completely alive. You can't deny them, because you helped create them. The human race just keeps on going, keeps on changing. Life will out! Ha!." A little while later, the three of them headed back up to ward 26 where the cat nuns where being led away in handcuffs.
"All staff will present themselves to the officers for immediate arrest. I repeat, immediate arrest. All new life forms will be catalogued and taken into care. All visitors to the hospital will be required to make a statement to the NNYPD" the tannoy spoke out.
" The Face of Boe!" the Doctor pointed out as he ran towards the giant face in the tank at the other side of the ward "You were supposed to be dying."
"There are better things to do today. Dying can wait" the Face of bo replied as Alyssa slowly made her way forward and gave the giant face a shy wave.
"Oh, I hate telepathy. Just what I need, a head full of big face" Rose/cassandra said sarcasticly but the Doctor shushed her.
" I have grown tired with the universe, Doctor, but you have taught me to look at it anew" the face explained.
"There are legends, you know, saying that you're millions of years old" the Doctor pointed out.
"It's true" Alyssa piped up.
"There are?" the face asked "That would be impossible. "
"Wouldn't it just. I got the impression there was something you wanted to tell me" the doctor said.
"A great secret" the face replied.
"So the legend says" the Doctor pointed out.
"It can wait" the face told him.
"Oh, does it have to?" the Doctor complained.
"Come on facey, what's the big secret?" Alyssa asked.
"We shall meet again, Doctor, for the third time, for the last time, and the truth shall be told. Until that day" the face replied before he teleported away.
"That is enigmatic. That, that is, that is textbook enigmatic" the doctor told Alyssa before turning on Rose/cassandra "And now for you. "
" But everything's happy. Everything's fine. Can't you just leave me?" Rose/cassandra asked.
"You've lived long enough. Leave that body and end it, Cassandra" the Doctor told her.
" I don't want to die" Rose/cassandra begged.
"No one does" the Doctor told her.
"Help me" Rose/cassandra begged.
" I can't" the Doctor replied just as Chip came staggering in and made his way towards the three of them.
" Mistress!" he said.
" Oh, you're alive" Rose/cassandra inquired.
" kept myself safe for you, mistress" Chip revealed.
"A body. And not just that, a volunteer" Rose/cassandra said, studying the patterned humanoid clone.
" Don't you dare. He's got a life of his own" the Doctor warned her.
"But I worship the mistress. I welcome her" Chip insisted.
"You can't, Cassandra, you" the Doctor stated but the energry was now transferring from Rose and into Chip, causing Rose to collapse in his arms "Oh! You all right? Whoa! Okay?"
"Yeah. Hello!" Rose replied.
"Hello. Welcome back" the Doctor replied as Alyssa walked over to Rose and hugged her.
" Oh, sweet Lord. I'm a walking doodle" Chip/cassandra pointed out.
"You can't stay in there. I'm sorry, Cassandra, but that's not fair. I can take you to the city. They can build you a skin tank and you can stand trial for what you've done" the Doctor explained.
" Well, that would be rather dramatic. Possibly my finest hour, and certainly my finest hat, but I'm afraid we don't have time. Poor little Chip is only a half-life, and he's been through so much. His heart is racing so. He's failing. I don't think he's going to last" Chip/cassandra explained before falling to his knees.
"Are you all right?" the Doctor asked.
"I'm fine. I'm dying, but that's fine" Chip/cassandra replied.
"I can take you to the city" the Doctor offered.
"No, you won't. Everything's new on this planet. There's no place for Chip and me any more. You're right, Doctor. It's time to die, and that's good" Chip/cassandra replied.
" Come on. There's one last thing I can do" the doctor said, offering Chip/cassandra his hand.A while later, the Tardis arrived somewhere where a party was taking place and Chip/cassandra stepped out.
" Thank you" Chip/cassandra said to the three of them.
" Just go. And don't look back" the Doctor urged.
"Good luck" Alyssa piped up. Chip/cassandra then walked towards a young woman and Alyssa recognized her as Cassandra before all her operations. She saw her talking to Chip/cassandra before he collapsed onto the floor and human Cassandra was cradling him, yelling at people to get help. The Doctor placed his hand on the young girl's shoulder.
"Come on Alyssa, time to go" he told her as he led her back into the Tardis and closed the door.
