I do not own the 1987 versions of Splinter or his turtles. This scene is taken from the episode "Return of the Shredder."
I looked up to see my turtles standing together weapons out and ready. Michelangelo was twirling his nunchuku. They advanced on Shredder and me, stepping together while maintaining wide fighting stances. As they did, Leonardo spoke with a tense voice, "Shredder if you dare touch a whisker on his head …"
As I admired my students' coordination and stances while measuring their closeness to danger, Saki pointed a spiked gauntlet at them and raised a sword over a nearby rope. "Not another step or your furry sensei will be crushed."
Donatello looked up and assessed the situation. He reported his findings to the others as he made them. "That rope … it leads to … a battering ram!"
Michelangelo then noted. "Its gotta weigh megatons!"
Raphael added with a voice raised in panic rather than dried with his usual humor "None of us could stop that thing!"
Indeed, I hoped they wouldn't even try. I moved in my bonds now Shredder's attention was diverted to see if I could free myself. Since Shredder had explained that part of his plan to me, I'd been afraid one or more of my students would die with me in an attempt to rescue me.
While mulling over the possibility of my students never getting near enough to save or die with me, I'd been relieved Saki hadn't decided on an even slower and more painful fate for one he considered so great an enemy. Yet, I was rather sorry for whoever witnessed it or came across the repercussions later, particularly if it was my turtles or April O'Neil. Saki's intended end for me would be quite messy.
Shredder actually lowered his sword over his shoulder as he bragged on instead of ending me then, "That's right turtles! Your master is about to become history." Then he raised the sword and tightened his muscles. I watched my students to see what they would do.
My students all glared at Shredder, but before they otherwise responded the ground and walls began to shake. By now, I knew what that meant.
Baxter Stockman in the machine that had captured me broke through the opposite wall I hung from. It seemed my enemy had surmised my students wouldn't leave me chained there, and also hoped like me they wouldn't be able to escape this device. It was a rather strange belief considering how much better my student's had done facing machines.
My confidence, however, was not helped when my student Michaelangelo said, "Oh bummer guys! Looks like we got us a massive problame-o."
Baxter seemed to have a sense of humor similar to my Raphael and also a like inability to stay silent when he had the upper hand on his enemy like Shredder did. He almost sang out while pulling and pushing on the levers controlling his machine. "Greetings, from you friendly neighborhood rat-catcher!"
Leo spoke like he couldn't believe it. "Baxter?"
Raphael's snarky sense of humor returned to him as they ran from the machine. "Don't you just hate it when people drop in unannounced?"
Donatello escaped the clutches of one of the mechanical arms of Baxter's machine by using his weapon as a pole to vault away from it, which I highly approved of. Baxter's machine then cast a net at Leonardo. I almost sighed in relief as that was not well thought out on Stockman's part. My student neatly slashed through it.
As if oblivious to how well my students were doing against him, Baxter shouted while driving and moving levers "Talking turtles! Hee-hee, ha-ha! Big green talking turtles!" I wondered if he had truly gone mad.
What had Saki, my old student, led this man to? Hopefully not killing my current students: the turtles, who loved me perhaps more than my own brothers had and perhaps to their detriment.
I had a hard time continuing to watch this fight as Saki stepped in front of me. He was still carrying his sword. Now, he laughed before saying "Sayonara Splinter!"
I heard the pop, though, as Leonardo cut through the tires of Baxter's machine, it's squeals as it spun, the smacks Donatello gave it with his staff. Shredder turned away slightly at these sounds, so I could see Raphael and Michelangelo also attack the machine together with Donatello and Leonardo then joining in. Together they broke Baxter Stockman's invention all around him. The man finally leapt from it screaming.
Michelangelo's voice rang out as he and my other turtles continued to ride the now slow-moving vehicle. "Way to go dudes!"
All this had distracted Shredder from killing me. Now, he was very distracted as his ally lay on the mat before him while crying, "Save me master! Save me!" Perhaps I had misunderstood their relationship. This seemed less an allyship and more a master-servant or even master-slave one.
Shredder seemed to prove this still more by deriding him. "Oh, useless jellyfish! I have to do everything myself!" Then he proved this by cutting the rope that had kept his weapon from destroying me.
I winced and shut my eyes but opened them again as I heard the squeal of the damaged vehicle as it turned. Raphael was now inside it pulling on various levers while asking, I suspected "not" sarcastically, "Where are the breaks on this thing!"
Donatello pointed out with both green finger and tense voice, "The battering ram!"
Fortunately, it seemed to be moving very slowly toward me. Leonardo jumped down to land right in front of me while I watched my fate getting nearer. I had a little hope as he began to cut the ropes connecting me to the wall. I did wonder if I would have to push him out of the way but knowing how my demise would also badly affect him, I decided not to till the last moment.
Leonardo did push my patience by pausing before cutting the last rope. He only did so though, to turn and tell Raphael to "jump!" Indeed, he acted as a good leader. For, my other student did so, leaving Baxter's machine. My other two students already seemed to have abandoned it. As Leonardo cut the last rope keeping me attached to the wall and helped me away, Baxter's machine rolled in the way of the battering ram, which then finished the machine off.
My other students then gathered around me. I patted the shoulder of Donatello, who happened to be standing right in front of me. I didn't stop myself from grinning while praising them all. "You have done well my students." I then reached out and put a hand on Michelangelo's shoulder who happened to be standing right next to Donatello.
I was even more proud when Raphael spoke up from behind me. "Well, we're not done yet!" He and the others then turned their heads toward the light pouring into the "Slash for Cash" dojo from the large hole Baxter Stockman's machine had made in it. Even though my students glared, I could not seem to control the wide smile on my face. How well they had done, and I even remained alive to teach them more! Raphael's voice sounded strained as he went on asking "Where's the Shredder gone to?"
Saki was standing in front of the rubble which had been the far wall and beside his fallen battering ram with the small form of Baxter Stockman slung over his shoulder. He announced sternly and angrily, "You haven't seen the last of me mutants! This is only the beginning!"
Police sirens could be heard in the distance and Raphael said, "Uh-oh! That's our cue to exit." We then ran out of the wrecked dojo and to the nearest manhole disappearing within it like true ninja.
Well, what do you think of this newest update? Was it worth reading?
God bless
