Brittany's POV

I couldn't sleep; My fears are keeping me restless. The more I tried the more anxious I became, I eventually I became so restless that I couldn't even lay down anymore. I stood and wondered into the main room of the Drake. It sure didn't help that Louie was snoring. Oh wow, how was he able to sleep floating around like that!?

Whatever... I stared motionless out the window. With all of the lights in the Drake off, the diamond sky appears stunning. PNF-404 was dark, I'm SO glad that I don't have to spend other night down there. It's understandable that the Pikmin lift off with us in their Onions.

I wonder how everyone is doing at home... Besides worried sick probably.

"Brittany?"

I nearly jumped out of my skin. Alph had come out of his room, I guess I didn't get out of bed as quietly as I thought. "Are you okay?" He asked.

"A-Alphie? Um… Wh-what are you doing up?"

He walked toward me, "I was going to ask you that. It's really late Brittany you should get some sleep. We have a big day tomorrow."

"I know…" My face began to tighten, which was strange, I hardly ever cry. But this time my fears were too great…

Alph noticed right away, "Brittany what's the matter?"

"I'm tired of all of this... I thought that this would be a simple mission but so much for that! Besides getting fruit we've been on a wild goose chase for our cosmic-drive key!" I sighed, "I'm just worried is all... So many hostile creatures on this planet. They're always more dangerous than the last..."

He stepped closer.

I continued, "I'm just afraid that one day... we'll encounter a monster that's just too strong..."

"Don't worry, I know we'll make it out of here alive. After all we've been through... I know that with our teamwork we can overcome any obstacle!"

"We have to." I replied, "For the sake of Koppai."

"And we will! Brittany... You probably know this already but... I'll be here protecting you. I'll never let anything bad happen to you!"

My head was spinning, my heart was flying, "Hopefully nothing bad will happen to you." I meekly say.

He opened his mouth to say something, but then Louie had sounded a loud snore right above us. Startling us both.

Alph stared at him in disbelief, "How is he sleeping like that?"

"I don't know. I think we should sleep too. I'm feeling better now."

"Good to hear. I'll see you tomorrow then Britz." He smiled, "Sweet dreams."

What happened next was completely unexpected, he gave me a small kiss on my cheek before returning to his room. I felt a serious rush of energy, my heart felt like it was going to jump from my chest, my stomach had a butterfly swarm like you wouldn't believe.

Smiling to myself, I went into my room and climbed into my bed. I squeezed my pillow tight, feeling so giddy that I was trying to hold back from making an excited squeal.

I felt my sense of determination renew. Granted I was still worried about what will happen, but it wasn't so overpowering now.

It's no surprise why I have such special feelings for him...
