Part One - A Redhead Meddles With Fate

In the depths of the underworld a tired devil rubbed the bridge of his nose and sipped slowly from his glass of wine. Sometimes being as powerful as he was tended to be a pain in the ass. He was Sirzechs Lucifer, the head of his family, the Crimson Satan, and the leader of the New Satan Faction. To many he was held in the same esteem as a god. Truly his power was nearly without equal.

That didn't make things easy for him however. As a true master of chaos magic, Sirzechs had an innate connection to the turbulent force and its effect on the world. There were times that he was able to meld with it, and forge that chaotic magic to his whims. Then there were instances where it instead seized hold of him, and made him see things that he was 'supposed' to intervene in. The devil rationalized this service as the innate price he had to pay for his enhanced gifts. No one person could be as strong as him without a cost after all.

At present, he was sipping a glass of one of his favorite vintages because he had received one of such visions. He'd seen a Japanese couple, young, newly married, applying for a travel visa to the United Kingdom. Unless he intervened in the process their application would be rejected. It was such a random thing to see. Why would chaos itself show him this? It clearly wanted him to alter that eventuality, but why? Was it trying to alter someone's fate? That was possible. Based on his experience, chaos loved fucking with the natural order of things, including prophecy and inherent fate.

Draining the rest of his glass in a rather large gulp, the demon lord got up from his chair, strutted into his office, and opened his filing cabinet full of latent contracts.

"Let's see…" he mumbled under his breath, "who owes me favors in the public records and passport issue office?" a few files later and he had a name. A quickly detailed note was written and followed by a spell to send it on its way, and Sirzechs was done. His duty to chaos complete. He could have just let it go at that, but the man was above all else curious. He just had to know what was going on everywhere, with everyone, at all times. Especially so when his adorable little sister was involved. She'd just been born a month ago and every little burp she made was just plain adorable.

Roughly he shook his head to dispel the cute image and with a force of will created a transportation circle beneath his feet. He'd decided that he would be following this couple on their trip, if only to see what they got up to. His choice certainly had nothing to do with buying cute english dresses for his infant sister to be dressed up in… But first he needed to place tracking runes on these people so that when they did leave, he could find them in an instant.

One Month Later

"Isn't this beautiful Gorou?" a beautiful black haired Japanese woman sighed as she and her husband walked down the length of the Thames. "The lights are bright, the water is clear, and the architecture of London is just breathtaking!"

Beside her, a taller man with brown hair chuckled and wrapped his arm around his wife's waist, drawing her close. "So this isn't too bad for a late honeymoon? I'm sorry we had to wait as long as we did to come here."

"Hey, don't sound so down, Gorou. If there's anyone that understands how slow bureaucracy moves its me. Being a city planner kind of made that clear on day one. I'm having a wonderful time on this trip, and I'm spending it with the man I love, so stop being down about us not leaving immediately like some jet-setting fantasy couple." She emphasized her point with a stiff finger jab to his ribs, and the taller man broke out of his chuckle to laugh out loud.

"What did I ever do to deserve a woman as amazing as you?" He asked.

Miki tilted her head in good humor and answered, "You did the contracting work on my college dorm building, spilled hot coffee on my blouse as I was going to class, and then insisted on making it up to me by taking me out for more coffee."

The man's ears turned a little red at that reminder, but he nevertheless asked, "Are you ever going to let me forget that?"

"How could I? You were so suave and charming at that diner." She sighed warmly and snuggled closer to him as they walked, "You made me fall for you within the first five minutes."

"Hm, my old man always insisted there were seven words that could make a woman fall in love with you. I'm just glad I remembered them that day."

"So am I. You know, if you were to say them again later tonight in bed, I might be tempted to try that thing you've been asking for?"

Her partner's eyes grew huge at those words. "You mean you'd let me-" His words were interrupted as the sounds of squealing tires, shouts, and an infant's terrified screams rent the air. If it was just the first two things, then this particular couple could have just kept going on their way, enjoying their belated honeymoon and making love until the wee hours of the morning. For very particular reasons however, the infant's screams broke through any social restrictions or awkwardness they felt, and the couple ran toward the scene as fast as they could.

They followed the yells, screams, and flashing lights until they arrived at what anyone from any nationality could see was a fire station. Its bay doors were open, and three men and two women were gathered around a small basket, making faces and strange sounds, clearly in an attempt to get the child to quiet and settle down. Nothing was working however.

Unable to take the sounds of those terrible screams any longer, Miki ran forward, pushed past the nearest uniformed woman, and scooped what she could now see was a baby boy into her arms, rocking him as gently as she could. Immediately his screams ceased, and his wails turned into near happy sounding coos and awes.

As the firefighter's finally caught onto the fact that a strange foreign woman was holding a random infant, Gorou showed up and waved his hands frantically to head off any unpleasantness. His English was not as good as his wife, who was fluent, but he was able to haltingly let them know that they meant no harm, and had just been following the screams.

This seemed to pacify them long enough for Miki to rock the baby to sleep. From there she was able to speak for herself. In clearly accented English, she said, "Apologies for the suddenness of our arrival. We heard the child screaming, and had to make sure it was alright. What happened?"

The woman who answered her was tall, muscular, and had stripes on her shirt collar that clearly marked her as the officer on duty at the station. "It was the damnedest thing. The bell on our bay was rung, and when we came out we only had time to see a fat man hopping into his car and driving away before this little one started screaming. We were so worried about him that none of us thought to try and get a plate for his vehicle."

"So you won't be able to send this boy back to whoever dropped him off?"

The other woman grumbled in annoyance and shook her head. "Even if we somehow did track him down, it wouldn't be wise to return the kid. Anyone that would drop their child on our doorstep clearly isn't fit to be a parent."

Miki was intrigued by what she was hearing. "Does this happen often? Parents leaving their babies on your step?"

"More often than I would like." The woman answered. "England has a safe haven law that means unfit parents can drop their babies off at fire stations to be put up for adoption, no questions asked. This is a bit of a unique situation though. Typically the babies are only a few weeks to a month old. If this little one isn't one year old already I'll eat my boot."

"Why would you eat your boot? That seems awkward and difficult does it not?"

The firefighter cringed slightly, "Right, foreigner. Sorry. It's a figure of speech."

"Of course."

The officer reached over for the child, "Now that he's asleep I can take him off your hands if you like?"

"No!" Miki shuffled back quickly, unconsciously moving the boy with her so his head wouldn't tilt awkwardly. "I mean, he's sleeping so soundly now. It would be a shame to risk waking him. Why don't I just look after him until your officials get here."

"Are you sure? It's pretty late so they could be a few hours arriving."

"It's no trouble." In a burst of rapid Japanese she let her husband know all of the details for what they'd discussed, and he heartily agreed with her."

"Well alright then. You might as well come inside. We'll get you some coffee and hot chocolate while you wait.

Across the street, a red haired man in a trench coat smirked as he watched the young couple enter the firehouse. So this is what the forces of chaos had been up to. Well, if this was its will, then he had a couple stops to make, and some officials to intimidate.

Two hours later, Miki and Gorou were sitting together in the station living room sipping on the last remnants of their hot cocoa. True to their word, the firefighter's had given the both of them fresh mugs before they'd gone back to their regular duties.

"I know what you're thinking, Miki." Gorou whispered as he ran his fingers through his wife's hair. She was still cradling the sleeping infant as his head rested lightly in the crook of her arm.

"It's the right thing to do." She whispered back in a determined tone.

He sighed, knowing from that tone that she wouldn't be swayed from the attempt, but recognizing he still needed to try. It had been two years, but he knew the wound was still painful for Miki. "He won't replace the one we lost."

She stiffened at those words but otherwise didn't respond.

"It wasn't your fault, Miki. The doctor's agreed, sometimes miscarriages just happen."

It was only because he was studying her face so thoroughly that Gorou saw it. The split second of anguish that crossed her features before it was wiped away with fresh concern for the child she now held. Unconsciously she tightened her hold on him.

"I know that." She rasped. "It took me a while to understand it, but I know. I don't want this child to replace our little Hiashi." She whimpered slightly as she used the name they'd chosen for their unborn child. "But he's lost and alone, Gorou. He needs someone, and… well… I still want to be a mother. I feel like I still 'need' to be one. Does that make sense?"

"Not really." He reached his arm over her shoulder, offering what warmth and comfort that he could. "But I'll still support you. No matter what. If you want to try and adopt this child, then I'll call our embassy and ask for a lawyer to help us. If he was just being abandoned here, than I can't imagine there will be many issues."

Miki smiled up at him and asked, "If we do adopt him then what should we call him? It would feel wrong to just give him Hiashi's name."

"Hm." Gorou looked around the room as he considered the question, and his gaze fell on a portrait hanging on the wall. It displayed a bearded monk with his hands raised in prayer before a crowd of kneeling supplicants. He didn't know why, but something about that image called to him. As a random firefighter passed by, Gorou waved him down, and managed to stutter out, "Apologize. Portrait… what, is?"

The man clearly took a second to make sense of his broken english before he nodded his comprehension and said, "Oh that is Saint Hadrian of Canterbury. He was a great holy man, teacher, and archivist. Our last fire chief was bit religious, and he left that here after he retired." Having said his piece, the man gave a polite goodbye and carried on with his duties.

Gorou returned to his wife and kissed her cheek lightly. "Hadrian Hyoudou. It has a nice ring doesn't it?"

In another part of town, Sirzechs had finished the last of his visits. If the Hyoudou couple decided to adopt the boy, they'd find the paperwork filed and approved in a matter of hours. He smiled, it was nice when chaos let him provide homes for the lost. Most often it led him to destroy entire bloodlines.

With a chuckle he shouldered a new bag filled with little frilly white dresses and bonnets before activating his return portal. He'd keep an eye on those three he decided. There was a hunch building up inside him that the boy at least would be quite important. And a youth spent in war had caused him to place quite a bit of trust in those hunches.

Beneath him the portal sigils flashed and an instant later he was gone. Only the shifting mist from where he'd stood serving as a sign that he'd ever been there to begin with.

Two Years Later - Japan

Gorou Hyoudou was pacing the white washed hall of the hospital waiting room as his son happily swished his legs back and forth in his seat. Hadrian had proven himself quite astute for a little boy of three, and he was having the time of his life using his little markers on his coloring book. It was supposed to be an educational aid for six year olds, but he had already figured it out. The purpose of the book was to color in the fancifully drawn animals and then draw lines between those of the same family. The boy was the most accurate with canines.

Gorou smiled tightly at the ease of his son. He of course had no idea what was happening to his mother in the other room, but in the act of calmly coloring pictures, he was unconsciously giving his father the strength to keep from continuously ringing his hands and shouting at the hospital staff for constant updates. It wouldn't do for his little boy to see him going crazy like that. As a father he needed to set a better example.

Luckily though, a tall doctor with long red hair had just opened the door and was approaching him; effectively putting his worries on pause. Gorou gave Hadrian a quick look to make sure he wold be fine for a moment without him, and then practically ran up to the doctor.

"How is she?" He rushed out, before the medical professional could get a word in. "Is my wife okay?"

"She's fine sir, so you can relax." The doctor had a strange gleam in his eye as he answered. As if he knew something interesting that he wasn't willing to tell. Or did he? For some reason the man was having a hard time distinguishing the doctor's features. They seemed to keep blurring out of focus when he tried to pay attention to them. "They're both alright."

Immediately Gorou's shoulders relaxed as all the pent up stress left him, almost causing him to fall to the floor as a result. It took him a moment to get a hold of himself, but the moment he did he asked, "Can we see them?"

"Of course. Everything went swimmingly in there, so there should be no problems. Come along this way."

Gorou quickly rushed over to his son, gently took the book from his hands, and placed it back in his little backpack. "Come on son, it's time to meet your little brother."

The little boy's eyes grew huge and he quickly scampered out of his seat, took his father's hand, and followed him down the hall. They came up to a closed brown door that slid open easily enough, allowing both males to be confronted with a beautiful sight. Miki laid reclined on her hospital bed, face covered in sweat, but infinitely proud and happy. Sitting cradled in her arms was the wrinkled face of a newborn baby boy.

"Is he…?" Gorou tried, "Are you…? Is everything…?"

"We're fine, darling. Everything is fine. The doctor's assured me there were no complications in the delivery. We're both healthy." Her husband sagged at those words and fell into a chair that had been conveniently placed at her bedside. He pulled Hadrian up into his lap with him, and the little boy's eyes shone as they gazed upon the infant before him.

Miki could only smile at the look. She'd worried her little boy would feel displaced at the addition of another child, but even now she could see the love blooming in his eyes. She turned a bit so he could see the infant's face more clearly. "This is your little brother, Issei."

"Little brother." The small boy mimicked her speech.

"Yes. You're an older brother now, Hadrian. That means it's your job to look out for him. Can you do that?"

It was almost comical how the small boy's head flapped back and forth with his affirmative response, "Yes mom." and she couldn't help but laugh a little at the sight as she reached forward to ruffle his hair. It had been shaggy and unruly for the longest time, but after letting it grow out a bit, the scruff eventually smoothed out. She liked seeing it long like that.

"I'll be the bestest big brother ever!" Hadrian crowed causing both of his parents to smile with pride.

Seven Years Later

Ten year old Hadrian Hyoudou was experiencing a great day at the park. His mother had finished her work early that day and brought him and Issei out to enjoy the nice summer weather. The grass was green, the flowers were in bloom, and the choir sounds of the birds were ringing musically in the air. All was right with the world.

His mother was happy as always. Holding both of their hands and listening to them talk about this and that. She was especially interested in his story of how Simara Rito had demanded he hold her hand at recess during summer day-care. Something about the way her eye was twitching at that was beginning to worry him, so he switched the conversation over to Issei and what he had been up to. He launched into a babbled schpiel about how he and his little friends had played an epic game of tag.

The trail they walked down was well used, but not so crowded as to be uncomfortable. The last person the three had seen was five minutes gone when it happened. A deep snarl lit the air, and ahead of them a giant wolf burst out of the trees and foliage. The beast was at least seven feet tall on four paws, had grey, dirty, fur, and its eyes were blood red and crazed.

Miki's shaking hands took a hold of both her boy's shirts and used them to pull them behind her, then she started to back away slowly. Watching with terrified eyes as the beast pawed and scraped the earth with it's wicked claws. Distantly she found herself wondering what the hell a wolf of this size was doing here. They weren't that close to the mountains after all.

Her thoughts however were cut short as the beast gave a choked howl that morphed into some sort or roar, before charging them. Miki quickly picked her boys up into her arms and ran for all she was worth, but it proved for naught as only a few seconds later the massive beast caught up to them and batted her to the ground with a swipe of one of its paws. As she toppled, her children fell out of her arms, and as she screamed in horror it lunged at her youngest… only for Hadrian to push Issei aside at the last second.

For a single moment she felt intense pride in her eldest for protecting his brother, then it ended in despair as the beast bit down on Hadrian's collar, hard. Blood flew from his wound, screams poured from his mouth, and then something happened that she could not explain. As her eldest continued to scream, his blood seemed to coalesce in the air into something resembling a spear before launching itself straight into the wolf's brain. It fell without even a squeak of pain, and her little boy wasn't far behind it.

She got to her feet as fast as she could, and dimly noted that her foot seemed to be twisted the wrong way, yet she felt no pain. Was this was shock felt like? Issei was screaming too as he shook Hadrian's shoulder, trying to wake him without apparent effect. The sight freed the woman from her momentary shock, and she hysterically reached for her phone to call emergency services.

Five Hours Later

Sirzechs was annoyed as he pushed his way into the waiting room of the hospital Hadrian had been taken to. He quickly got the room number and marched on. This attack should never have happened. He'd searched the land surrounding the Hyoudou's home himself four months ago and there had been no sign of such a beast in the vicinity. He almost kicked himself for not installing an alert ward for cursed beasts. The blood spear had been an interesting development as well. Clearly this boy had a little magic in his system. Why hadn't he seen that before? Regardless, things had been put into motion now that needed to be addressed. He'd already altered the minds of the first responders, as well as the police working on the report of the incident. The last thing anyone needed was a hint that the supernatural actually existed.

As he reached the designated room, he took a moment to brace himself before walking inside. Devil he may be, but injured children were never an easy sight for any kind of creature.

He was met with the visage of the entire Hyoudou family. Hadrian was in a drug induced slumber, laid on his side with pillows supporting him so that his weight was kept off his recently stitched bite wounds. His brother Issei was sitting with his back against the headboard of the same bed, holding his limp hand. Miki and Gorou sat in chairs at either side of him, and for some reason Miki had a cast on her left foot. An older man sat in a chair on the other side of the room. Sirzechs figured this was Gorou's father, Juzo. His research told him that his wife had passed away earlier that year, and that he doted on his grandchildren like crazy. He hadn't anticipated his presence, but he would adapt.

"Greetings." He addressed the family that had been rather surprised at his abrupt entry. "My name is Sirzechs Gremory, and I believe I can answer your questions about what happened today."

Miki flinched at his words, but nevertheless asked, "You know about the wolf and the blood? How could you?"

"I'm a bit of an expert on the topics of strange things. May I sit down?"

She nodded, and he pulled up a chair and set it against the wall so that he could address everyone at once. From there he raised a hand and let a ball of pure chaotic energy simmer into life above it. That definitely got a reaction, and once he had everyone's undivided attention he began his speech.

"This, is magic. I am showing it to you so that we can head off any arguments that were sure to rise over what is, and is not, real. Can any of you doubt what you see with your own eyes?" When no one answered, he continued. "What you and your sons experienced today was an attack by a rabid and cursed werewolf." He ignored the gasps of the men, and the terrified mother raising a hand to her mouth in shock. "I've already disposed of its body, and dealt with the witnesses, but there is a serious problem in the fact that it bit Hadrian.

Gorou swallowed nervously and asked, "Is he going to become one too?"

Sirzechs nodded sadly, but spoke up again before the family could fall into despair. "This is not necessarily a bad thing. Typically Japanese werewolves aren't contagious. They're born. It takes a serious kind of curse to make them rabid before the change can be transferred by bite."

"I'm not hearing how my grandson turning into an animal is a good thing." Juzo commented.

"I was just getting to that. You see, unlike the western variety, Japanese werewolves are fully cognizant during their transformations, and they do not need the full moon to enter their animal state. They are stronger, faster, and have far better senses than the average human. There are many families in Kyoto I know of that marry into werewolf clans specifically because they want their young to be born with these gifts."

"Gifts!" Miki yelled, "My son was attacked by one of these monsters!"

Not rising to the bait, Sirzechs calmly answered, "Would you blame a gun for killing somebody, or the person wielding it? I already mentioned that I examined the body, and that particular wolf was forced against its will into a rabid state. A witch of some quite considerable power cursed him, and then sent him off to create havoc. She is the one truly responsible."

Miki still looked angry, but she at least nodded that she understood the difference.

"What are the drawbacks?" Again it was Juzo that spoke.

"His instincts will be enhanced with his senses. Additionally, for the next few years, he will have trouble keeping his inner wolf under control when he gets angry. He will need training to find a balance between the two. Then there is his magic to deal with."

Gorou gaped, "Magic?" but Miki was nodding her apparent understanding.

"The blood. He made that happen didn't he?"

Sirzechs nodded his head. "Hadrian displayed a rather unique ability known as blood magic. I know of only two others on the planet that have it. He'll need to train to wield that effectively as well."

"This is the second time you've mentioned 'training' but you haven't mentioned where we could send him to get it. The fact that you're standing here so calmly tells me that you have a plan already. Otherwise I don't think this conversation would be so civil." Juzo remarked.

Once more Sirzechs tilted his head to the older man. He was starting to like him. "There is a place in the mountains that could serve both purposes. The teachers, students, and overall mission of the institution could help Hadrian learn to control the wolf inside. Additionally the headmaster that runs it is adept at all forms of magic, including blood magic. I would trust none more so than he to help the boy learn to use it."

Gorou had a reserved look in his eyes, but he still asked, "This place… what is it called?"

Sirzechs smiled, "The school is called, Yokai Academy."

Miki understood that this man was saying her little boy would have to go away for a while to learn about his new abilities, and though it twisted her stomach, she understood the necessity. However, there was something that was still worrying her. "What about high-school? University? Are the classes he will take there comparable or transferrable for transcripts?"

"He'll start in the elementary program and continue on through the high school curriculum. Yes the classes are comparable, and University admissions offices know all about Yokai Academy transcripts. Provided his grades are good enough he could get into any place he applies for."

Miki nodded and asked, "When would he start?"

"As soon as he is well enough to travel." The devil answered.

One Year Later - Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry - Headmaster's Office

Albus Dumbledore was in a bit of a quandary. He was sitting before the student registry book, eagerly awaiting the enchanted quill attached to it writing out the acceptance letter for one Harry James Potter. Therein lied the problem however. The writing utensil wasn't doing what it was supposed to.

To be exact, it was writing names, addresses, and school supply lists for the owls to deliver, but it had skipped directly over where the young Potter's name was supposed to be. He'd checked the enchantments on the device three times now, and each inspection gave him the same exact results. There was nothing wrong with it.

The image this piece of information was providing him was not exactly pretty. How could anything have gone wrong with his plans? He'd been so thorough. He'd known that the Dursleys didn't like magic, so he'd made a point of not showing up himself. The man was self-aware enough to know that even dressing as a muggle he would stand out for a mile. So to avoid any awkwardness, he'd placed the wards in secret and dropped young Harry off with a note explaining everything. In the case that the Dursleys weren't exactly thrilled to be taking in their nephew (though in what reality would anyone not welcome family into their lives) he'd included a stipulation that a monthly stipend would be paid to them for his upkeep so they would not be burdened financially. Finally, he'd made it clear to them that they would not be inconvenienced by anyone from the magical world until young Harry turned eleven. He knew they'd want to be left alone, and he didn't ant anyone to know where the boy was for several reasons. Chief among them were to keep him safe and to limit any potential influence from anyone besides him. It was for the best really. What if someone like Lucius Malfoy were to track him down and poison his impressionable young mind with pureblood doctrine?

With a sigh he closed the book and walked over to his floo. He gave the address for Mrs. Figg's home and walked through the flames with purpose. He was in luck as the woman herself was sitting in the chair in front of it. But wait… what were all those machines and tubes? And why were they attached to her skeletal body?

"Arabella?" He gasped, "What happened to you?"

Between the hissing and beeping of her devices, the woman managed to wheeze out, "Kidney… failure. Needed… a transplant… but was too far… down… the list."

"Oh." Dumbledore sighed. "I wish you had just called me before. I'm sure this is easily treatable with the right spell." He waved his wand and started casting a diagnostic spell. "Just hold still and-"

"Wait, stop!" The woman screeched. But it was too late. Albus cast his spell, and the resultant unshielded magic caused Arabella's devices to short circuit and shut down. She had enough energy to wheeze a final muted scream before her entire body locked up, and then fell still.

Frantically, Albus cast every resuscitation spell he could think of, but eventually he was forced to acknowledge the truth. Arabella Fig was dead, and he had killed her. It was an accident but he doubted anyone else would see it that way. Certainly his political adversaries would use the event to discredit him in the wizengamont. He couldn't allow that to happen.

With a heavy heart he once more raised his wand and with a burst of intensely controlled disintegration charms, removed the body, machines, and any and all signs that the woman had inhabited this home. Then he rushed out to cross the street to the Dursley's home. If Arabella had been sick for as long as it seemed, maybe his belief that no news had been good news was faulty.

When he reached the home he'd left Harry at all those years ago, he knocked rapidly until the snarling face of Vernon answered. He was clearly about to rant at Albus, so the old man headed him off with a legilimancy spell. He didn't have time to placate him. He needed to know where Harry was.

What he saw shocked him to his very core. He'd suspected that the boy might not have the best home life if his magic manifested around them, but to be abandoned the very night he was found? What kind of family could throw away one of its own like that? The very thought was inconceivable. As was the realization that he had been wrong to just assume his plans would work out instead of placing true safeguards.

Without waiting for the slew of insults he knew the fat man was about to provide, Albus apparated to the fire station Vernon remembered leaving the boy at. Only to discover an abandoned building with boarded up windows. At the sight, Dumbledore fell to his knees. Clearly at some point in the last several years the station had been closed and abandoned. Without the ability to interview those that had been on duty that night, he had no way of knowing what had happened to the infant left on their doorstep, and if the Hogwarts book had not written Harry's name then he was either dead or living under a different name entirely. All of that information amounted to two startling facts that Dumbledore struggled with all of his might to comprehend. The boy who lived was gone beyond his reach, and all of his carefully laid plans were now for naught.

Eight Years Later

"Hadrian!" a dainty pair of arms looped around the young man's shoulders and twin mounds of joy pressed into his back as Kurumu held him tight from behind. "Where were you?" she whispered seductively in his ear, only for the black haired boy to strike her speechless with a quick kiss to her cheek.

As her pale face bloomed scarlet in a blush, he smiled. Even after nine years of friendship, and later more, Hadrian still loved to see the effect he had on his best friend and girlfriend. It was a real confidence booster when one could cause this effect on a literal succubus.

"The headmaster wanted to see me." He answered.

"Oh." The succubus broke out of her momentary startlement and hopped off his back to take his hand as the couple started walking through the path of the dark forest. "Did you have a lesson scheduled today?"

"No. In fact he even made a point of letting me know that my primary blood magic lessons were done, and all that remains is self study and practice. Honestly I think he was just getting bored teaching directly. I swear if that man could spend the rest of his life with his administrative papers and never see another living soul he'd be the happiest being on this planet."

Kurumu's hand in his own tightened briefly as she shuddered. "Only you could address a Great Being like the headmaster that way without being struck down."

Hadrian chuckled at that and smiled down at the girl he loved. "It helps that I'm his student and the head of the public safety committee. He can't replace me because he's too antisocial to do the job himself."

"You're only the head of the committee because you killed the last leader."

Hadrian frowned at the memory. That had been his first kill, and though he felt it justified, it weighed on him sometimes. He supposed it always would. His eyes found Kurumu's and he kissed her forehead fondly, "He put his hands on you. The fox deserved it."

As they continued to walk, the succubus smiled proudly at her man, standing tall in his black coat and high collared shirt. She couldn't help recollecting the events in question that had led him to that point.

The two of them had been newly arriving freshmen and over the summer her body had filled in perfectly, just as her mother had warned her it would. She had been harboring a crush on her best friend for the better part of two years by that point, but had been too scared to say anything. It was as roll call was being held in their first period class that it happened. The door to the hallway burst open and a troop of angry looking upperclassmen in long black coats with a strange insignia burst in. At their head was a medium sized boy with long blond hair and two weird black dots over his eyebrows. He had the haughty look and bearing of an aristocrat that believed himself to be in the presence of his lessors.

Before even the teacher could voice a protest over the interruption, the boy spoke. "I am Kuyo, the head of the public safety committee at this school. Behind me are its current members. Our job is to ensure the safety of this school and its populace in the headmaster's name, while making sure justice is done for any crime committed." He started to stalk his way down the line of student's desks, making sure to look each one in the eyes as he passed. "As freshmen it is understood that you do not know the rules pertaining to the high school portion of this compound, and it is also expected that you will come to learn them over time. But there is one rule above all others that you need to understand immediately. Never! Fuck! With! Us! We are the law here, and we will execute it as needed. As the strongest beings on this campus we hold that right." He stopped when he reached Kurumu, having met her eyes as with all the others, and the girl mentally started to panic.

A look was building on his face, one she recognized from the men her mother had occasionally brought home. He saw her, and he was turned on! She tried to cringe away from him, unnerved by that look on someone as scary as him, but the upperclassman followed. In a flash his hand snapped out and caught her chin. Forcing her to look up at him.

"Hm…" He mused, "You seem like someone with promise. How would you like to follow us back to our office? I'm sure there is much we could discuss. Perhaps you would like to be a member of the committee?"

"Uh…" Kurumu was getting scared now. That look on his face was getting progressively darker and more perverted as he spoke. She didn't mind turning heads, that was what a succubus was supposed to do after all, but she had a feeling that 'no' wouldn't necessarily mean 'no' with this man. And that thought terrified her. "I-I'd really rather not."

"I don't care what you want. You're coming with us." He made to grab her arm with his other hand, but someone reached up from the seat behind her and snatched it.

Kurumu turned and smiled with pure gratitude at her knight in shining armor and her best friend in the world. Hadrian Hyoudou. From the first day of elementary school when he saved her from a group of bullies making fun of her for her blue hair, they'd been inseparable. And now it seemed he was rearing to save her yet again.

"She said no." Hadrian growled, his wolf simmering beneath his skin.

Kuyo sighed and shook his head, "And I said I don't care." With a lazy flick of his wrist fire exploded in the confined space between them, and the young werewolf was blasted through the nearest wall.

"Hadrian!" Kurumu screamed. She tried to get up to run for him, but the blond attacker still held her arm.

"No, you little minx. After a blow like that I'm sure he's dead. Now come on, it's time the two of us got a bit more acquainted-" His speech was suddenly cut off as his body seized and his grip released.

Most of the class sat slack-jawed and horrified at the sight, but Kurumu was filled with fresh hope. Hadrian had told her some of what his blood magic could do, and if she was right then he was…" A quick glance at his body sized hole in the wall proved her right. There he stood. Hadrian's shirt had been burned clean off, and his skin had angry welts and abrasions, but before her very eyes they were healing at a rapid pace. His eyes were blood red and his teeth had grown into razor sharp points. To anybody else he'd appear the epitome of a monster, but to her, he was an angel.

As he stalked back into the room, and up to the blond monster he growled, "You put your hands on someone precious to me. That was a big mistake." With a fresh grunt he placed his closed fists together in front of him and then violently ripped them away from each other. At the same time, Kuyo screamed and his body shredded itself to pieces as every drop of blood was forced out of him at once.

Hadrian was about to ask Kurumu if she was alright, but then he noticed something funny. Kuyo's blood and other remains were flowing on the floor back to the main husk of his body. "A regenerator eh?" Hadrian smirked as he brought his fists back before him. "Let's see how many times you can come back before you're dead for good." When the monster's body was nearly back to normal, Hadrian ripped his fists apart once more, smiling at the carnage he wrought. By the time Kuyo stopped trying to revive himself the process had repeated itself twelve more times, and by the end the freshman was completely drenched in blood, but Kurumu didn't care. Hadrian had done all of this for her! In a flash she jumped over the nearest desk, wrapped her arms around the boy's neck and planted her lips on his. He was clearly surprised for a moment or two, but then he reciprocated with an intensity that left her feeling light headed and dizzy. Somehow they both knew it was the start of something great for them both.

They couldn't have been more right. The very next day Hadrian found himself elected to lead the committee by its other members, and Kurumu found herself with an extremely protective new boyfriend. Life was good.

A light tap on her nose brought the girl back to the present as Hadrian spoke. "Kurumu? Earth to Kurumu? A yen for your thoughts?"

"Oh I was just thinking about our first date." She lied.

In response, the boy smiled. "Ah yes, spaghetti in the teacher's lounge. I don't know how I thought that could be romantic."

"Don't sell yourself short." The woman scolded. "We were fourteen, so it wasn't like we could go out to a lot of places, and teacher's lounge or not, I had a great time. The make out session afterword was even better than the food."

"Yes, it was." He growled in the way he knew made her heart race. It wasn't fair that he could smell her mood and hear her heartbeat. A man shouldn't have that much knowledge of their partner. It just removed some of the mystery.

Trying to regain some semblance of normalcy, Kurumu asked, "So was that all the headmaster wanted? To tell you he was done training you?"

"No. He said that a phone had been set up in my dorm, and it was important that I call my mother. Apparently she's been bugging him with letters for over two weeks now and he was getting annoyed."

Kurumu cringed at the image. She had tried to put her best foot forward with Miki Hyoudou when they first met, but she had a feeling that the older woman wouldn't have been happy with any girl her oldest child brought home. Never mind the fact that she'd been twelve the first time and they hadn't yet been dating. It helped that Hadrian had explained her animosity wasn't personal and that she reacted that way to any girl he mentioned, but it still stung.

The rant his mother had gone into when she found out they were a couple was legendary. She spent a solid twenty minutes raving about how her little Hadrian was too young for a girlfriend, and it had only been thanks to a very stern werewolf promising he'd stop writing for a month if she didn't cease to make her stop.

Things had gotten better eventually. For the most part Kurumu just thought the woman had accepted her as an inevitability… and she was okay with that. The girl had decided long ago she'd rather have a reluctant mother-in-law than no mother-in-law at all; and considering Hadrian was her mate-of-fate, a mother-in-law Miki eventually would be.

For the longest time she'd been afraid to tell her boyfriend about that particular issue. After all, knowing that you were the chosen mate of a succubus, and that without you she could die, would be a deal breaker for most. But he'd taken it in stride. Even going so far as to propose to her on the spot. With tears in her eyes she'd laughingly pulled him back to his feet and told him to ask again after they graduated. That meant she only had the rest of the school year to wait, and the girl had dreams of white dresses and big cakes every night as she slept.

"What do you think she wants to talk about?"

"If I had to guess, it will be something about Issei."

"Your brother?" The blue haired girl remembered little Issei. The last time she'd seen him he was nine years old, and wouldn't stop following his big brother around the house.

Hadrian sighed in exasperation. "Yeah. Last I heard he'd been accepted to a prestigious private school that just went coed, and he'd been having some problems."

"What problems?"

"I'm not sure exactly. All mom would tell me in her letters is that his pervy friends were getting him into mischief."

"That doesn't sound good at all."

"No it doesn't. If I'm honest I've been worried about Issei for a while now. The last time I was home he kept asking to see pictures of you in your uniform, and then he wondered if I had any with you in swimsuits or your underwear."

She gasped, "You didn't!"

"You can relax, Kurumu. I have those saved on a special file on my phone that only I have the code to. Our 'playtime' photos are safe, and I would never let anyone see them."

The girl sighed and said, "That's a relief. So you think he's turned into a pervert?"

"That or he's just becoming one. Either way, it worries me that I won't be there to turn him off that path. It would be shameful for him."

Their conversation was interrupted as they reached the dorm building and had to stop as they ascended the stairs to his room. True to the headmaster's words, a bright red phone was sitting on his living room table with a cord plugged into the wall. Funnily enough, that outlet hadn't been there before. Had the Great Being had the power source installed just for the atmospheric effect of the device being the first thing he'd see when he walked in the door? Yeah, that sounded like him. It was helpful that he'd been provided a landline, as cell phone signals tended to be pretty spotty up here.

He gestured for Kurumu to sit on the bed if she'd like, and then he picked up the phone to call his mother. She answered on the first ring.

"Hadrian? Is that you?"

"Yeah, mom. The headmaster said you had something important to talk to me about?"

"Yes… Is Kurumu with you by any chance?"

A hard tone edged its way into his voice as the werewolf answered, "Yes, mother."

The woman on the other end of the line was quick to check herself for a tone before continuing. Hadrian only ever called her 'mother' when she was in danger of making him cross with her. "I don't mean anything bad, honey. It's only that I've already spoken with her mother, and this news affects her too since she's your mate-of-what'sit."

"Mate-of-fate, mother. Now what is this all about?"

Across the line Miki took a deep breath and launched into it. "Your brother is in danger of flunking out of Kuoh Academy."

That stunned Hadrian to his core. "What? How? He had amazing grades! He scored in the top tenth percentile so he could apply to Kuoh in the first place!"

"It's those no-good friends of his." Miki seethed. "They've turned him into a pervert, and now instead of studying he spends all his time trying to sneak looks at his female classmate's chests and panties. Oh Hadrian, if you only knew the things your father and I found on his phone!"

'If you only knew the things I have on my phone.' He thought. But what he said was, "That's terrible, mom. It really is, but short of calling him after you, I don't know what I can do to help. Nor do I understand what this has to do with Kurumu."

"I was just getting to that. Your father and I aren't allowed on the school grounds except for event weekends, conferences, and family days, so we cannot interact with Issei enough to curb his new impulses. You however can."

"I don't follow."

"We've spoken to your headmaster, and as I've said Kurumu's mother is on board, and we've decided that we want you both to transfer to Kuoh Academy to keep an eye on Issei. Is that something you would be okay with doing?"

For one traitorous moment, Hadrian considered saying no. He had responsibilities here after all. Students to watch over, troublemakers to punish, and he already had his courses planned out. But then a memory surfaced from the depths of his mind. Himself as a small child, sitting on his father's lap, and looking into the scrunched up face of his baby brother as his mother told him to watch over him. There was really no question for what he would choose, and when Kurumu gave him a nod of understanding and consent he answered, "We'll be there on the next bus. Has Kuoh approved our transfer?"

"Yes. Apparently they're as concerned about Issei as we are, and they're desperate for a solution."

"Then I'll be sure to bring it."

Two Weeks Later

"Are uniform skirts this short normal in human schools?" Kurumu asked as she bounced in place in Hadrian's living room. "I'm not complaining mind you, but I'm legitimately curious."

Hadrian smiled at the exuberant girl as he finished stuffing the last of their bags into the portal box the headmaster had provided. It would deposit their belongings into their brand new, shared, dorm by magic, thus freeing them up to hop right into classes upon their arrival.

Miki hadn't been thrilled to find out the two of them would be sharing the same rooms, but by that point she was too invested in sending them to Kuoh to back out of it. Kurumu suspected her own mother had a hand in this rooming situation and she resolved to get her something nice the next time she saw her.

"I don't think so." Harry mused before giving his lover a light smack on the ass, earning a lovely squeak in the process, "But I'm certainly not complaining. It looks good on you."

"Thank you, Hadrian." She purred before rushing out the door. "Last one to the bus is a rotten egg!"

"Hey! That's cheating!" The boy yelled as he rushed to catch up. Waiting in front of the building for them was the same nondescript bus that always took them back and forth from Yokai Academy, as well as the same driver. Only a select few suspected the powerhouse that man truly was. But he was civil, and he never made eyes at Kurumu, so Hadrian resolved to never get on his bad side if he could help it.

A brief bout of tickling, followed by a short but companionable bus ride later, and the duo found themselves being dropped off before the gates of Kuoh Academy to begin their senior year of high school.

The day went by in a blur, and to be honest… Hadrian was underwhelmed. He was used to a high stress environment of monsters, intense testing and exam cycles, and having to beat down any creep that looked at his Kurumu wrong. There was none of that here. Oh sure, many of the female students looked at his girl with envy, but there weren't enough boys to trigger his protective instincts.

"I'm bored." The boy complained as he and Kurumu walked lazily around the grounds of the campus.

Beside him, his girlfriend giggled lightly and bumped into him. "What? Is the big bad werewolf annoyed that he doesn't have someone to punish?" She leaned up to whisper in his ear, "You could punish me if you want. Back in the dorm?"

As it turned out, Hadrian wasn't the only one that could sense things about their partner. As a succubus, Kurumu could literally feel his arousal and desire for her, and it drove her wild.

Their afternoon tryst was not to be however, as both of their enhanced ears picked up the sounds of heavy breathing and twisted giggling from behind a bush several yards away. It didn't take a genius to figure out what it was. Especially not when every girl in their class had warned Kurumu about the campus's pervert trio. A name that had Hadrian holding his face in shame.

In a flash The boy was running toward the offending shrub, and before anyone had a chance to flee, he had dashed through it, caught a fistful of white shirt, and pulled a brown haired boy up to eye level as two others fanned out behind their friend; clearly they were trying to decide if it was worth it to run away.

"Hello, Issei." The werewolf growled with just a hint of the beast coming through his eyes. "Care to explain what you were doing lurking in the bushes with these degenerates?"

"H-H-Hadrian." The younger boy stammered out, "I didn't know you were coming. What are you doing here? And is that a Kuoh uniform?"

"Mom didn't tell you eh? Figures. Apparently these assholes have been dragging down your grades, and mom asked me to come keep an eye on you." He leaned forward so there was no chance of anybody else hearing him, "and a nose."

Issei blanched at that. He knew full well what his big brother's senses were capable of. An air of depression came over him then as he said, "So that means…"

"No more perving, little brother. Wherever you go I'll know, and if I catch you doing anything that even resembles peaking on the opposite sex there's going to be hell to pay."

"Why are you doing this, Hadrian? Can't you just let me embrace my love of breasts? I mean come on, you love them just as much as I do!"

Hadrian gave a quick glance to his smirking girlfriend before nodding the truth of that fact and saying, "Indeed I do. But I keep my perversions low key, Issei. By the gods don't you see how badly your antics reflect on our family? What about your grades? You spend so much time trying to catch a peak that they've gone into the gutter!"

The boy, still held in the air, looked down at that. He hated the very idea of letting his big brother down. He looked up to him with every fiber of his being. How could he not after he'd sacrificed his humanity for him all those years ago. Yes, he remembered it still. No matter how young he'd been.

"I'm sorry." He whispered, unable to meet his brother's eyes. "I'll do better."

With a sigh, Hadrian lowered his younger sibling to the ground and gave him a hug. "I know you will. And I know that this stage of your life is confusing. I went through it too. But I'm here now, and I'll help you through it."

"Thank you. I appreciate th- Matsuda stop!" Issei tried to warn his friend but it was too late.

Hadrian turned to look at what had caught his younger brother's attention, and came face to face with the ugly sight of a bald freshman stalking across the ground toward Kurumu with a perverted grin on his face and his hands raised in twin gestures of what could only be described as groping. "Oppai!" he yelled ecstatically before jumping at the girl… only to be caught in midair by the collar.

The lecherous boy turned to come face to face with a pissed off Hadrian. Now most people would be pissing their pants at such a sight, but Matsuda was too far gone in his haze of perversion to recognize the clear and present danger he found himself in. "You dare keep these marvelous breasts to yourself!" the boy raged as he tried to escape from the older student's steel grip. "No man should have that much bounce in his life without sharing!"

Only Issei saw the way his brother's eyes began to glow at those words. He could have stepped in as Hadrian began to drag the boy away, but he couldn't justify it. Sure he was a peaker. He loved to catch glimpses of the skin unseen by others, but what Matsuda had just done was something on a whole other level. He'd just attempted to grope his brother's girlfriend against her will. Issei was many things, but a potential rapist was not one of them.

As his brother and former friend disappeared around the corner of the nearest building he couldn't help but wonder if that was the road he'd been going down. If Hadrian had not arrived when he did, would he be the one hurting women? It was a sickening thought that brought shivers to his spine. By now the third member of the trio had disappeared, leaving the boy alone with Kurumu.

"I'm so, so, sorry." Issei whispered to the girl. "I swear, I didn't know Matsuda would do something like that."

In a move that shocked the boy, the blue haired girl stepped up and placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "I know. Pervertedness aside, you are a good boy, Issei. I'm just glad we'll be here to make sure you stay that way."

"Yeah. Me too."

Occult Research Club - President's Office

A girl with ruby red hair was standing before a large window, looking down on a scene of pure destruction. A male student she had never seen before was kicking the stuffing out of one of the school's problem children. No doubt he'd said or done something to deserve it, but the amount of well placed strikes was quite impressive.

Beside her, an incredibly well endowed girl with hair black as night was watching the same thing, with a hand held before her mouth to hide the blush and heavy breathing the sight was eliciting in her. "Such marvelous punishment." The girl moaned. "Oh Rias, who is that boy? Do you know?"

"No." Rias grumbled, annoyed at the oversight, yet unable to remove her gaze from the scene. "I thought I was familiar with every face at this institution, but it appears I was wrong. I'll need to send someone over to the records office to find out."

"Oh? You want his 'information'?" Akeno teased her best friend, "That is quite forward is it not?"

"N-No." Rias blushed. "I just think we need to know everything about everyone we can. If he has a sacred gear then we need to get to him first. That is why we're here after all."

"So building up your peerage is the reason you haven't looked away from that man for ten whole minutes? I can't say I blame you. He is quite handsome after all. What with that long hair, those clear muscles beneath his blazer, and those glowing red eyes…"

"Glowing red eyes!" Rias exclaimed.

"What? you did not see them? I guess I was ogling him even more than you were. He He He He." She chuckled.

"We need to keep a closer eye on him!" Rias stated.

"Oh? So you want to get closer to him already? My, you work fast, Rias." Akeno continued to tease. "Well, as long as you share I won't mind you poaching him."

"That's not what I meant and you know it. He could be dangerous."

Akeno tsked lightly. "Those words and your blush are saying two separate things, Rias. You really should be more honest with yourself."

"Ah!" The red haired devil exclaimed before marching off through the door. If it would save her from her best friend's teasing, then Rias would go to the records office herself. The tactic didn't pan out however, as Akeno just followed and continued to heckle her about her 'clear' attraction to their violent new student. It didn't help that she was right. Rias had found him handsome, in a very rugged and dangerous way.

As a member of one of the families that financed the school, no one gave Rias Gremory any problems as she strolled into the Records Office, nor did anyone stop her when she began flipping through student transcripts to find the new addition. The problem came when she opened it and found that his school history was blank. The only item in his transcript was a photo and a record of his test scores, and while they were very impressive, they didn't tell the girl anything about the boy except for his name. Hadrian Hyoudou.

"So his name is Hadrian." Rias murmured. "I'll have to keep my eye on him." Then she saw the second file right beside his own. "Kurumu Kurono?" So there was a second new addition to the school that she hadn't known about? The more she thought about it, the more this entire situation smelled like her older brother. Who else could get two completely blank slates into Kuoh? And if Sirzechs was indeed behind it, then perhaps he wanted her to take an interest in these two. But for what purpose?

Note: That's right! I made Harry into a bloodbending werewolf!

Note: I'm planning to bring in elements from the show Lucifer, and perhaps one or two other fandoms as this story progresses.
