Prologue

Gohan and Goten stood, panting and bloody in an open field filled with battle scars. Both the young half Saiyans were on their last legs as they stared down the being who had pushed them past their limits, and forced them to use every trick they knew just to survive.

Across from them, Frieza scowled, eyes ablaze with anger as he glared at the two half monkeys who'd not only managed to injure him but also managed to kill his father who lay dead at the feet of their - Goten and Gohan's - Mother.

As his body felt on fire and panting heavily, Goten could only clench his fist and wonder how the future had changed so much. How had things come to this? He had planned for these battles since the day he was born, but things kept changing no matter what he did, his plans lay smashed before he could even enact them.

He tried to calm himself, his mind wandering to the beginning of his journey…

Chapter 1: Unexpected Reunions!

The forests of Mount Paozu were as calm as the clouds lazily floating in the big blue sky. Leafs rustled in the breeze amongst the many trees, as water rushed down the few rivers of the mountain, a man stood along the edge of a particularly rough one. With his back to the water and slightly hunched over as a tail attached to his lower back dangled in the raging water.

From years of experience, he knew this river produced the biggest fish. Developing tough outsides to withstand the bashing against the hard rocks as they make their way down the mountain, while their insides were full of large meat and fat. Just one could feed him alone for a few hours.

But today, he was going for ten.

Goku glanced over at the nine that lay dead in a pile nearby, grinning with pride.

He raised his brows as he felt something nibble at his tail, forcing his body to remain steady as he let his tail flicker ever so slightly once more.

Nibble nibble

There!

Faster than the fish could react, the large fifteen-foot creature found itself flying through the air. Goku had swiftly turned around, yanking his tail out of the water and reached down into the raging water and grabbed the fish by a fin, pulling it out of the water and thrusting it into the air with a swift punch, killing it instantly.

Its lifeless body landed at the top of the pile

"Alright~! That's dinner for tomorrow!" Goku cheered as he walked over to his haul, mouth-watering at the sight of so much meat. Normally he'd just heat them over a fire and eat them up then and there, but ever since he got married, his wife had shown him a world of foods that you could make with such fishes and he could never really go back.

"Gookuu! Dinner time!"

Speaking of!

"Alright, let's get you tasty things back home!" Goku scooped up his catches over his shoulders, grinning the whole way as he rushed back home to show off his success. With his speed, it was a short trip until he saw the sight of Chi-Chi, his wife and mother of his two sons as she waited for him to arrive. His sons were most likely inside waiting for him and their mother to begin the family dinner.

Family, the word still felt like such a foreign concept to the former World Martial Arts Champion. The only family he had ever known was his Grandpa Gohan who had long since passed on, and now he had another family, one he created, somewhat by accident. He had not known what he really signed up for when he made Chi-Chi the promise to take her as his Bride all those years ago, but he wasn't complaining.

He liked having a wife, he loved having two kids who he could train on occasion. It had been a surprise when Chi-Chi had given birth to two sons when they had been told just one was within her, nevertheless, they had both been overjoyed to have two little ones around the place.

Chi-Chi had been near-impossible to convince to let the boys train even a little with their father, insistent on studying to become students who gain high grades in all they do. Goku had been given a flash of inspiration by one of their sons, Goten, and had reasoned with her that they should at least be strong enough to be safe out in the forest when helping gather food.

Though he and Chi-Chi saw Gohan as extremely book smart, Goten had proven to be a rational thinker, and none saw that more than Goku.

He had helped the boy train more in secret when he had come to him, coming up with a plan to do such.

"Honey! Look at the load I caught today!"

Inside the house, Gohan stared poutingly at his twin brother.

"Are you the Real Goten or a Clone?"

Goten merely offered his "older" brother a smile. Gohan had been born a few minutes before he, making him the technically oldest Brother. Gohan was well aware of his Brother's plans and had kept them secret from their Mother, believing them to not do any harm.

To get away with training and Studying, Goku had gone and learned the Multi-form Technique from a friend of his. Using it, they could allow their cloned self to stay at home and study the hours Chi-Chi wanted them to, while the real them could go out with their father and train. Once merged together again they would gain the knowledge of the Clone of themselves.

It had taken Gohan a bit longer than Goten to learn, with the elder brother not liking training much at first. Goten and Goku had convinced him, however, saying he didn't necessarily have to use his strength and skills to fight, rather, to defend himself if he ever found himself in danger. Gohan liked the thought of that and had taken to training more seriously soon after.

But Goten had been willing to train ever since he could talk as far as Gohan could remember. His brother was eager to learn everything he could from their Father and Mother, and while Gohan was eager to study, Goten was the reverse when it came to that.

He was an amazing Physical Learner. He was by means no slouch when it came to his studies, even keeping with Gohan, he just didn't seem as enthused by it. He was so intent on training, he had begun making a clone to take his place for nearly everything around the house while he snuck out to train on his own, only Gohan and Goku knew about it, and while Gohan felt guilty for not telling his mother, he knew there was no harm in it.

Goten was strong enough even at their age to handle anything in the forest, just as Gohan was though the eldest still refused to go off on his own.

"I might be!" Gohan shook his head at the answer.

"If Mom ever finds out, I don't think dad could stop her," Gohan warned before greeting his parents entered the room. "Woah, Father! That's a lot!" He marveled at the sight of all the fish Goku carried with him, wondering just how he managed to fit all those in the front door. Goten even stared in awe, mouth-watering at how much meat was brought in.

Goku simply chuckled as he carried the fish pile to the deep freezer in their home while Chi-Chi went to take her place at the table with her boys. As he passed Goku spared Goten a questioning glance, with Goten giving a sneaky grin in return making his father shake his head with a smile as he walked off.

Somewhere near the top of Mount Paozu, the real Goten sat in meditation.

Ever since he had been reborn into this new world, the one known as Goten had set out to get as strong as he could before the battles ahead.

He knew Super Saiyan was out of his league at this stage, though he was Goten, he was not the Goten born after Goku already Mastered Super Saiyan, and thus could produce stronger offspring. At least, that was his working theory, as he had not been able to achieve Super Saiyan early like the Goten from the timeline he knew could.

Instead, he focused his efforts elsewhere, attempting to harness a more primitive power that could be used.

His tail flickered behind him, his eyes closed as he sat in a meditative state.

He sought to control the Great Ape within him.

Training his body was a good way to grow strong, the best way in his mind, but it was too slow at the current time he was in.

He was aware training, in the long run, would help him immensely, but he was on a time crunch and needed a quick power boost to ensure he and others would survive what was quickly approaching.

The last few months he had dedicated to his Great Ape Theory. He believed he could tap into that ten times power boost in his humanoid form. His basis for it possibly working was Gohan and how much stronger the boy got every time he had gotten angry, skyrocketing to heights only achieved by such a multiplier, and he - Goten - was intent on gaining access to that great power without transforming into a giant raging monkey. He believed if he could tame or control the rage of the Great Ape, he could channel its power.

It wasn't until today he made a breakthrough.

His tail twitched behind him as it settled down. His lips curled up as a small growl escaped him while muscled flexed and relaxed. Around him, leaves and rocks began to float up into the air as his hair fluttered.

Power welled up within his small body before exploding outward. His eyes flew open as his body tensed, his eyes had changed colors, becoming a yellow-green as his iris' sharpened.

There!

He clenched his fists as he struggled to keep a grasp on the power. It raged against him, wanting to burst out of his tiny body. He battled it down, commanding it to settle within him through sheer force of will.

It felt like hours had passed as he fought a back and forth battle with the raging beast within. He eventually stood up, clothing drenched in a bit of sweat as the mental war to not succumb to the pure rage. Tired and barely keeping himself up straight, he couldn't keep the excited grin off his face as he flexed his muscles for one final time.

With a shout, he let his power loose, enhanced by the Great Ape he had been working to tame for months within. The thick trunks of the trees nearby bent from the force of the energy he had released, the ground below him cracked, dirt and stone flying away as he stood there, in awe of his own power.

"GOOTEN!"

Uh-oh.

As quickly as he had powered up he suppressed it. A shiver of pure fear ran down his spine like cold water as he heard his mother's voice rage in the distance. So wrapped up in his achievement of finding a way to tap into his new power, he had completely forgotten his mother could sense energy and would know that the "him" at the table was merely a clone.

The sight at Kame House was not one Goten had expected.

Though the reborn person had lost some memories here and there, he was certain the people gathered there were not supposed to be there.

Gohan clung to Chi-Chi's leg, shyly staring at all the new people while Goten stood next to Goku also observing the crowd of people standing around the small island, staring back at the family in shock.

Bulma, Krillin, Master Roshi, and Turtle were all here as was expected.

But Yamcha, Tien, and Chiaotzu were also there.

Yamcha was next to Bulma, arm around her waist.

That was, odd.

Were they still together? Did something happen that changed the course of their relationship? His being alive couldn't have changed things that much, could they? He never had contact with the two, the only person who could have was Goku-

That... could do it. Goten thought as he realized Goku had been sent to Bulma's place throughout the years by Chi-Chi to get new books, technology, anything she believed would help her two boys learn as much as they could to become dependable people down the line. Could Goku have said or done something during those many visits to change their relationship for the better?

Goten shook his head, it wasn't that big of a deal, right? Everything was under control in the end, nothing had changed too much.

Everything was fine.

Chi-Chi had been the first to conduct pleasantries and introduce everyone to the two new additions to Goku and her's family. Goten couldn't help but giggle at the reaction everyone had to the idea of his father having not one, but two kids.

"Go on you two, introduce yourselves!" Chi-Chi ushered her children forward cheerfully. Gohan shuffled forward alongside his brother

Goten took the lead, introducing himself to the larger-than-expected group with Gohan following soon after.

Goten couldn't help but notice the strength of some of them, having sensed their Ki and said such to his father. "These people are strong Dad!" Krillin took the compliment well, flexing his arms with a cheeky smile as Goku chuckled.

"They're some of the strongest people I know son, Tien over there is the one that taught me the Multi-form Technique for you and Gohan to use."

"Which you learned quite fast, Master Roshi wasn't kidding when he said you can learn things really fast." Tien stepped up, raising a brow at the two kids. "I wasn't expecting you to teach it to your kids, much less have kids. Strong ones at that."

Goten smiled up at Tien as Gohan was picked up by the blue-haired Launch as she talked to Chi-Chi and gushed over the little boy. Krillin however, noticed something that gave him pause.

"Uh, are those tails they have?" The young bald man couldn't help but take a nervous gulp. Launch, noticing the tails for the first time, couldn't help but gush over Gohan more, thinking it just made him even cuter much to the boys' embarrassment.

"Yeah? Just like mine!" Goku flashed his tail, "We weren't sure if they'd be born with or without them."

"I still say we should have had Shenron remove them." Chi-Chi chimed in.

"I'm glad you didn't! I love my tail!" And the power it gives me Goten thought sticking his tongue out with a smile.

"Especially if what you discovered is real," Goku remarked, drawing a curious glance from the fighters. It seemed Goku was still unaware of what he and his Children could possibly turn into. Goku noticed the looks and held out his hands to elaborate. "Goten here discovered a power related to our tails, or at least we think so. When he taps into it, his power skyrockets and becomes even stronger than me and Piccolo when we fought back then."

The fighters and even Bulma looked stunned, both at Goku admitting one of his kids could become stronger than himself, but also that said kid seemed to be able to control the powerful being that lay inside Goku.

"Can, he control it?" Master Roshi stepped forward, eyeing Goten.

Goku grinned while Chi-Chi huffed. "He can do more than that, show them Goten!"

Goten nodded as he moved away, stepping towards the ocean. The others watched in anticipation - and slight fear among those that knew of the giant monkey - as the young boy took a deep breath.

The experienced fighters reflexively stopped themselves from taking a step back, while the normal people of the group rose their arms to shield their eyes from the sudden and intense wind rushing in their direction from the Ki Goten unleashed.

It was like a whole lake had been dropped down upon them by those who could sense Ki. Krillin and Yamcha nearly buckled under the weight while Tien felt a bit of sweat, the former tournament champion took a glance at Goku to see how he was handling it.

The father of the monster of energy before them merely grinned as he stared with pride and excitement at the power being unleashed that was easily ten times what he had felt before.

Just as suddenly as it appeared, it vanished.

Chi-Chi rushed over to her second son as he dropped to his knee, panting as he grinned up at everyone with his mother doting over him.

"He can control it, but he can't use it for more than 3 seconds before it drains him of his stamina," Goku stated, his tail swaying behind him. "We're not entirely sure where the power boost comes from, but we think it's related to our tails."

"You always got stronger whenever you regrew your tail." Master Roshi stepped forward, stroking his beard in thought. That power is not unlike what I felt when Goku transformed into that great beast many years ago...

"Why am I not surprised even your kids are crazy powerful." Krillin chuckled, rubbing the back of his head. "We could sense you three coming from miles away." In the background, Gohan was playing with Turtle along with Yamcha, helping the young boy flip the poor guy back onto his belly after having rolled over from the energy released earlier.

"They both have great potential," Goku scratched his cheek with a slightly disappointed look. "But Chi-Chi won't let me train them as much as we did. She wants to balance out their studies with training, so what you see now is what I've managed to draw out."

Tien couldn't help but widen his eyes at that statement. "Just that much training and they are already at that level?"

"I was surprised too! They're both nearly as strong as me, but they don't have nearly enough experience." Goku said as Master Roshi chuckled.

"If you ever want help refining their power, I wouldn't mind training them up like I did you and the others." The elderly master offered, making Chi-Chi chime in.

"There's no way we can fit that into their schedule, the time it'd take to get here and ba- Goten?"

The young boys' head spanned up to the sky with a look of surprise, able to sense something his mother couldn't. He wasn't the only one who could sense it either, as the other fighters looked to the sky, all fixated on a single point.

A great power was heading their way at incredible speeds.

"You guys sense that too huh?" Krillin asked fist clenched, a small amount of nervousness slipping into his voice.

"It's massive, whatever it is." Yamcha nodded as he helped move Turtle further towards the house behind everyone. Gohan, able to sense it as well, quickly hid away next to his father as Goten stood back up along with Chi-Chi.

"And it doesn't feel like Piccolo's either," Goku stated, eyes narrowing as he positioned himself between the power flying their way and the others. "Get a little further back Gohan." The boy looked up at his father.

"There!" Chiaotzu shouted as a speck in the sky soon turned into a person, moving at great speeds before stopping. A man with long spiky hair reaching his legs, dressed in some kind of armor glared down at them all. He seemed to mess with something on his face before he began to descend, a smirk visible on his face.

He landed right in front of Goku, mere feet away from the strongest man on Earth with zero fear. Everyone was on edge, the fighters felt their instincts telling them to be on guard, while the normal people merely watched on in worry.

"Who are you, and what do you want with us?" Goku questioned, standing firm before the man as he got a feel for his power.

"Aww, what's the matter, Kakarrot? Don't recognize me?" The long-haired man chuckled with a grin. "Then again, I suppose the last time we met, you were still in the birthing vat with a power level of two! But now look at you!" He took a step forward, holding out his hands. "I could hardly believe it when I first read it, but here you are! With a power level that nearly rivals my own! Father would be proud!"

Father?! Everyone but Goten thought, the boy merely looking confused as if trying to understand something.

"W-What did you just say?" Goku asked, looking equally as shocked as the others. The man merely gave him a curious look.

"Don't tell me you've forgotten all about me and our family... Brother."
