I am sooo sorry I haven't been updating! I don't even have a proper excuse, the only real reason is because I got distracted by one of my stories and the rest went out the window and then I lost nearly two chapters from my non-fan fiction which put me right off writing anything, but thankfully I have been able to re-write them better so I am back! Currently I'm just hiding in the living room because my brother decided to randomly complain that there were MAGOTS IN HIS SOCKS! I mean seriously! EEEEEEEWWW! Anyway, here is episode 6; I decided to skip the 'settling in' chapter for Angie though I may do it after this one. I hope that is ok.

SuperminionXD

P.S. IMPORTANT! From now on I have decided I am going to be writing this story in Past tense, like I do in my other stories except for this series and Swiftly Going. This is because the whole present tense thing was sounding a bit weird and I was having trouble keeping it the same tense for a whole chapter without reverting to past as my default. I will be doing this with SG as well so that all my stories are in Past Tense, However I haven't time to go back and change all of the other chapters so it will just be from now on. The same with any new chapters of SG.

P.P.S. Since Angie is sort of a main character she does get parts from her point of view, in the next chapter especially but also one bit in this one. The sections will be marked in bold saying who it is. Please remember that Angie speaks and thinks strangely so any grammar mistakes in her sections are most likely intentional.

Fliss

"Fliss? Fliss?" the Small voice that pierced into my sleeping mind was accompanied by several nudges. I turned over so I was facing away from the wall and opened my eyes blearily. In front of me was Angie, her small frame drowning in an old white hooded dressing gown of mine. It was less than a week since she joined the institute so she was still settling in; currently I was the only one she fully trusted. So far she had developed a tendency to follow me around like a duckling or a lost puppy. Part of me found it adorable while the rest wondered what it was like for her, only knowing one room for her entire life and then suddenly being thrust into the wide world.

"What is it, Angie?" I mumbled, she had gained her nickname the morning after she came here. Evan given it to her after Jean had pointed out that Angel wasn't exactly a normal name. Angie seemed to like the idea of having a nickname, finding it new and exciting. It was also better if she were ever to go outside the institute since we could easily argue it was short for Angela or Angelina.

"I thinks the world hath become white!" she proclaimed, her silver eyes wide with worry. I sat up and glanced out the window then gave her a small smile.

"It's snow!" I exclaimed, she put her head on one side and looked curious, expecting me to continue, "It's like lots of little bits of ice only fluffy and white, you can do lots of things with it! Like make Snowmen or Snowangels, or have snowball fights."

"Snow… Angel?" she stated as if testing out the word.

"Let's get dressed and I'll show you!" I suggested. She nodded enthusiastically. A few minutes later I was dressed in my usual attire, though trading the T-shirt for a long sleeved one and wearing leggings under the knee length pleated skirt. Angie wore an odd assortment of clothes since she had none of her own and so was currently wearing spare clothes from the others. Her top was the closest to fitting her since it was one of Jamie's old red jumpers with a hole cut in the back for her wings. A pair of Kitty's jeans were rolled up several times at the bottom and held up by one of Rogue's belts. Altogether she looked a little odd.

I smiled and handed her a thick pale pink fleece that was only a bit too large for her. Her mismatched clothes were only a temporary thing. In fact the only thing stopping Kitty from dragging her out on her first ever shopping spree was the fact that the Professor had yet to calibrate her new inducer. That and the fact that, having known only one person for the entirety of her life, the Professor decided it would be better to break her in slowly. She was already having a hard time coping with all the students at the Institute; I doubted she'd cope well with a crowded shopping centre, especially since the shops would be more crowded than usual because of the time of year.

I pulled on my own thick lilac winter coat and found two pairs of gloves, two scarves and two hats for the both of us. Angie looked rather comical all wrapped up, her silver eyes and a few wisps of white hair visible between her hat and scarf. Her wings protruded from a specially cut hole in the old pale pink fleece I'd grown out of, I'd debated as to whether they should be wrapped up do but decided that they had feathers so would probably be ok. The hat had been donated by Millie, one of the New Mutants, having been deemed 'too childish' for her to wear herself, it was a bright rainbow bobble hat. I could easily see how it had appealed to the girl, her obsession with bright colours was only fuelled by her mutant power to change the colour of herself and anything she touched, but against Angie's pale complexion it stood out like a sore thumb that had been dipped in rainbow coloured paints.

Once the process was complete I took Angie's gloved hand and led her outside. Angie's face began to look a bit flushed from being so wrapped up while still inside as we walked down the corridors. Suddenly there was a loud shriek, which made both of us jump out of our skin. A door further down the hall burst open and Jean stomped out angrily. When she had gone I peeked curiously in the door to see what had happened.

I had to double-take as inside the room I saw Kurt. Only it wasn't quite Kurt since he had a massive head stuck on top of his normal-sized body. Angie let out a high-pitched shriek and hid behind me. It wasn't until he started laughing at our reactions that I realised what he'd done. I glared at him, annoyed.

"Turn it off! You scared Angie!" I snapped at the blue-furred prankster. "Apologise!"

"I'm sorry" he apologised to the young girl, who now cowered behind me.

"Hey, look it's just Kurt" I tried to coax her out.

"Yah, look!" Kurt exclaimed, deactivating the inducer so that his head shrunk back to normal size. "See, completely normal blue fuzball!"

Angie peeked out and gave a small smile. She had been dubious of him at first; most likely because of his slightly demonic appearance, but the furry mutant at quickly won her over with his many jokes. He was now the one other person Angie seemed to feel safe around. I glanced up at the TV Screen which was playing the news, a satellite image of Hawaii with a large hurricane-like cloud looming over it. I bit my lip, Scott was in Hawaii, no wonder Jean looked upset. I hoped he was ok.

Though my mood was slightly dampened, we continued outside. When we got to the foyer I threw open the main doors and allowed Angie to survey the snow-covered landscape. She bent down to touch the fluffy whiteness clearly expecting, like all young children seemed to, it to be soft like cotton wool. Her surprise was obvious as she withdrew her hand in shock.

"Cold!" She exclaimed, wrinkling her nose "It is cold! Cold is funny!"

"It's supposed to be cold" I told her, I then remembered that she had lived in one room for her entire life so had probably never felt cold. She stared in wonder at the steadily melting snow that clung to her glove, but the moment was soon ruined when most of the New Mutants came charging out cheering and proceeded to build trenches and mounds for what they called the snowball fight of the century.

While they were busy digging away I led Angie to a bare patch of snow and lay down. I waved my arms and legs about and then flew up so as not to ruin the Snow-Angel by getting up normally. Angie seemed taken by the idea and dropped straight down where she stood. For several seconds arms, legs and wings seemed to flail everywhere before she stumbled back to a standing position.

Angie's Snow-Angel was not normal by any stretch of the imagination. Because of her wings, the Angel's wingspan was more than three times that of mine, making its tiny body look comically small, and they reached all around the sides leaving only her head-mark looking a little like the centre of a large pansy-type flower. Not that any of that stopped her being extremely proud of it. Next I grabbed a large handful of snow and began rolling it around on the ground, making it bigger and bigger.

"What art we doing now?" She asked, intrigued by how the snowball now grew just from me rolling it.

"Making a Snowman" I told her, "Me and my Brothers always used to do it back home, only it never snowed half so much as this!"

I decided that the ball was now big enough and began gathering snow for a second, Angie now helped. Quite soon the second ball, though smaller than the first, was ready. I stooped and lifted it on top of the first but as soon as I put it down a force hit me in the back. It knocked me into the Snowman, reducing twenty minutes work to nothing in seconds.

"Hey!" I shouted at the New Mutants, who had apparently skipped snowballs and gone straight to firing at each other with their Mutant Powers with Millie cheering them on as usual. Annoyed that they had ruined our Snowman, I fired a Photon-blast into the fray for good measure before Dr McCoy intervened.

"People, people, that's not how we have a snowball fight" he chided, he then proceeded to pick up some snow of his own and made a large ball with his ape-like feet. He swung round, supporting himself with only one arm as he threw it at them; it broke into pieces and showered over them all. They all immediately turned on him. Glancing towards the doors I saw Evan calling Jean inside for some reason. Suspicious, I decided to follow and see what it was all about. I ran to catch up.

"What's going on?" I asked, just as I said that the sound of a TV in next room began speaking.

*With just a few hours of daylight left, the search continues for two lost teenage boys, Alex Masters and Scott Summers*

Jean gasped and colour drained from my face.

"Storm, prep the X-Jet" the Professor ordered.

"I'm coming with you" Jean announced, stepping forward.

"Me too" I added, also taking a step towards him.

He seemed to consider the matter for a second before answering with a sharp nod.

"Be in the Hangar in Ten minutes" he instructed.

Angie

When Fliss disappeared inside I did not know what to do. It seemed clear that my following would not be welcomed so I did not. Instead I stood and observed what everybody else was doing. Though that did not mean I understood it. I did not at all. The strange ritual seemingly called a 'Snowball Fight' seemed to consist of people gathering handfuls of snow and pelting others with them. Though the snow had long since been forsaken for what everyone called 'mutant powers'. Fliss said that is why we are all here. It is just the same as what Father Francis always said; the world is not ready for me. But here the world was. Why was that? Everyone seemed to act as if this were only a small part of the world. If that is so then how big IS it? There is already so many people! The odd thoughts seemed to fly around my head.

I looked back up at the older people. Why did they wish harm upon each other? They seemed to find it enjoyable. Why? This 'Snow' made people act very strangely. Even Dr McCoy was involved, and from what I had observed he was ordinarily rather sensible. I stood and watched the strange 'game' unfold.

Fliss

"The rescue Chopper went down, no word on Scott or Alex" Storm reported, she had been listening in to the radio to keep us updated.

"Proceed to their last known coordinates" the Professor commanded.

"What are those, tornadoes?" Jean asked, looking worriedly at the cone-shaped spinning things that spiked down from the sky. I stared out the window, down at the swirling sea. It was sort of hard to imagine anyone surviving down there.

"Funnel Clouds" Storm explained, "They shouldn't be a problem unless they touch down in the water"

"The Coastguard ship!" I exclaimed as we swooped low over the rough ocean. Rain and wind buffeted at the windows and it was hard not to imagine us being tossed away like a paper dart, but I could see a white vessel below us. I scanned the sea below, rotating through my various visions and hoping that at least one of them would pick something up. As it turned out, it was not me who spotted them first.

"I see them!" Storm exclaimed as the radar bleeped with two small red dots.

"We better move quickly" the Professor advised. All around us the tornado-shaped funnel clouds reached downwards like giant fingers from the sky trying to touch the water below. One right in front of us did, the effect was immediate, water rushed up like a water tornado and water whirled around it like round a plughole but upside down, sucking everything up inside it. In the swell were two small splodges of colour against the blue. Scott and Alex. They were getting sucked in! We swooped low over the struggling figures. They were now half-way up the cone. I didn't have to know what was happening to know it wasn't good!

"Look!" the Professor exclaimed upon seeing them himself. Storm leapt onto a panel in the floor which rose until she stood on the roof above us. Her cape flapped wildly as she battled the raging storm.

"Jean, Fliss, Now!" She shouted, "I cannot hold it back for long!"

Lightening flashed and thunder crashed as the stepped hatch opened below us. I took off into the air, my uniform soaked through in the seconds I'd been outside.

"Hang on, we're coming!" I shouted to the pair as Jean began picking them both up telekinetically. As she struggled against the wind I felt rather helpless, I had not yet learned to carry passengers and in this weather a doubted I'd even be able to. It was taking almost all my concentration to just remain stable.

"That's it, just a little further" Storm encouraged as she herself battled the elements. My heart leapt to my throat as I saw her control failing, but quickly sank down again when I saw both of the boys now gripping the steps of the hatch and pulling themselves up. I landed and helped Jean pull them into the plane.

"They're in! Go go go!" Jean shouted as the hatch closed behind us. I shivered from cold, my sleeveless dress doing nothing to protect me from the cold and rain; though I had barely noticed it before, now that it was over I was suddenly freezing.

"Storm, Hang on" Professor X commanded as he pulled the jet up away from the torrents. The hole the weather-manipulating mutant had created in the funnel cloud collapsed with a splash as we rose into the air and shot away.

Storm was breathing heavily as her platform sunk back into the floor.

"Are they alright?" She gasped in concern.

"They're gunna be fine" Jean sighed as she wrapped a blanket round the two of them. I gave a relieved smile and found another blanket for myself before sitting back down in my chair and buckling in.

"I'll contact Search and Rescue and let them know the boys are safe" the Professor announced as the plane burst above the clouds to reveal that above them all the sun was shining.

Angie

"Well, so much for our Winter Wonderland" Dr McCoy sighed as he surveyed the melted snow around. The formerly battling mutants were now collapsed on the steps in various states of wakefulness. "I can see now that teaching Mutants will require entirely different skills"

Not knowing what else to do, I followed the furry blue man inside the building as he made his way to his private study. I wasn't sure whether he even knew I was behind him, for I tailed in silence. I looked curiously at him as he clicked the door shut behind him, still I was unnoticed. I stood still and stared at the blank door. It was wooden and polished so that it shined, not like the rough wooden doors at home, and it was carved into four window-like panels. I gazed until my curiosity could take it no longer. I rested my hand gently on the smooth metal knob and twisted it, pushing the door ever-so-slightly open. The strip of room which I saw took my breath away. The wall I could see was covered in one large bookcase. My silver eyes were wide in awe as I took in every single book I could see. There were books of all kinds and colours and sizes. There were red books, green books, brown books, blue books, small books only as big as my hand and big ones I didn't think I could even carry.

For as long as I can remember I had liked books. Father Francis had a bookcase in his study with books all about philosophy and how to read the bible and all sorts of things people have said about it. I wondered if there were books about other things too, like snow and people in schools and the entire world I have not seen. Once for Christmas, Father had given me a small blue book with black patterns on, which held a story all about a girl who was called Angel like me. Only her name was short for something else, like how now I am Angie even though it has the same amount of letters.

In a sort of trance I open the door all of the way and reach out a hand, rubbing my fingers gently along the spines of the books, feeling all the different sizes and textures. I stopped at a blue and white stripy one, wondering why it was like that when most of them were plain with words on. One of the other books had a tiny portrait of a girl reading a book at the top of the spine. It was all most queer. I had never seen so many books in my life!

I just wanted to stand there and gaze at them, but at the same time I wanted to get them all out and read them from cover to cover, going over every single word with my finger. It was not until a large dark shadow fell over me that I did remember that this was not my place to be. I looked up at the furry man, who towered over me and looked quite scary.

"F-forgive me my trespasses?" I asked hopefully, he had an odd look on his face. Perhaps it was the way I speak, from what I have seen in this new place it is considered most strange. "I did see the books and I wished to see them all!"

His expression softened as he looked down at me with a small smile.

"That is quite alright" he said reassuringly, "Come, I shall show you some of my favourites"

I nodded enthusiastically at that idea and he used his long arms to pull himself up to the top shelf and retrieve a book which he placed in my hands. The book was old and tattered as if it had been read many times, on the front there was a depiction of several animals who all seemed to be going somewhere together. The title read, 'The Animals of Farthing Wood'.

"Thank you" I replied, my nervousness had all but disappeared as he allowed me to sit beside him on the long green chair and read.

So, I am soooooo sorry for the wait, my life got really messed up, I hope to update soon as I have ideas for the next episode. Please review if you are still there…

Bye for now,
