There would be no shower when they arrived.

Even Miwa's normally stoic face showed shock as they entered the village. Ramshackle huts drooping with torn, gray linen lined the main path. Not a single person was in the streets, introducing them to a veritable ghost town.

"They… they weren't this bad a day ago, were they?"

Sakura eyed the streets, apprehension stirring her gut. "…No."

"I don't like this," Miwa murmured, hand hovering suspiciously close to her pouch.

"Let's find the elder's hut and see what this is all about," Sakura decided.

The breeze curled a small dust tornado in front of them, and soon they came to a leaning building which looked remarkably like an inn.

Sakura entered first, finally finding someone to direct them. The entryway was bedraggled, to say the least. Walls darkened by age and floorboards so crooked they threatened to trip even the most graceful ninja.

Behind a grungy desk sat a woman who, impossibly, looked older and deader than the town. Her skin was so sunken her eyes barely glimmered behind her drooping brow.

"What," the crone grunted, followed by a tobacco laden spit on the floor.

"Oh, hell no," Ino whispered behind Sakura.

"Um…" Sakura hesitated, "We were summoned from Konoha to help with the… sickness."

The crone snorted. "'Bout time." She spat again, a thick dark loogy which caused Sakura to take a sharp step back, bumping into Miwa.

"Guess you'll be wantin' a room then."

"Er…" Sakura said.

"Ah got two, so you'll haff to bunk up."

Sakura turned to stare at Miwa and Ino, wide eyed. They stared back, equally horror struck by the thought of rooming in a place where a woman spat chew on the floor without regard. By the state of the village though, there was little choice.

"Um, yes," Sakura finally replied.

The crone had already tossed two keys on the counter. "Eight ryo for the each of ya. May have to dust up the room a bit. Don't have much time myself anymore." She then grinned, which revealed a minimal amount of teeth and a disturbing amount of blackened gums.

"Oh my god," whimpered Ino.

"…thanks," Sakura said.

With that, the crone turned away to stare at the wall again.
