Fire High

Chapter 14

Previously;

Should I really be doing this? I mean, I am pretty sick. I should be staying in bed and rest...

Ah who cares, tomorrow's fucking Friday anyway!

Tuck and roll!

With that final thought I jumped out the window and landed in a crouch before rolling back to my feet.

"Ready?" Shisui grinned.

"Let's do this."

Now;

Sakura's POV

Shisui and I kept silent as he drove to our destination, which by the way, I still have no idea where the hell it is we're going.

"Not even a hint?" I asked, breaking the silence.

"Nope." He said, popping the 'p'.

"Fantastic." Shisui gave a low chuckle before reaching over to grab my hand which now rested between us, our fingers now laced together.

I felt my heart beat faster in my chest as I tightened the grip on our hands. Shisui looked over and grinned.

"No need to worry kitten, if things get too dangerous or you feel like leaving, we'll go. And tell me if you start to feel sick." But as we stopped at a red light, Shisui suddenly gave me his undivided attention. "Maybe we shouldn't do this." He said softly while looking at my pale face.

"Don't you dare!" I yelled at him, startling him.

"What do you mean?" He asked, sincerely confused.

"I mean don't you dare take me back home after I just jumped out of a freaking window! If I was really that sick don't you think I would have said 'no'? Trust me Shisui, I'm a lot stronger than you might think, and I know my body's limits. Believe me when I say, I'm fine." Shisui stared for a long hard minute, despite the light having already changed to green. It didn't matter anyway, there was no car waiting on us, there was no one out at this time of night.

"Promise?" Shisui asked after observing me.

I squeezed his had. "Promise."

Shisui relented before he kept driving. Roughly 20 minutes later I heard what sounded like speeding cars and loud cheers of people. My jaw went slack.

"Shisui, is this what I think it is?"

"Well, that depends on what you think it is." He laughed when I glared at him.

"You race?" I asked incredulously. Shisui looked at me again, almost as if waiting for me to say 'Take me back home.' Or something along those lines.

Instead I looked at the car I was in. "In this thing?"

Shisui made a noise between a snort and a scoff and a raspberry.

"Don't judge a book by its cover sweetheart. This 'thing' has won me many races, including the one we're about to do."

"What can you predict the future now?" I asked him sarcastically with a smirk which he returned.

"No but this car is as good as me telling the future." I made a humming noise in the back of my throat.

"Well we'll just have to see about that now won't we?" I said, Shisui looked at me with something akin to a smirk and a smile.

"Your about to first hand." He said confidently.

"First hand? You don't mean me being here in the passenger seat when you race do you?" I asked, taking a minute to look around at the sea of people who made room for Shisui to get through.

"Yup." He said as a man waved him forward and pointed to the line of cars waiting to start the next race.

"Wait Shisui." But it was too late.

We had already pulled up into the line with the other cars wanting to race. Shisui got out of the to talk to the man who was probably running the whole thing.

"Hey Shisui, ready for the race? Just like any other race the bet is starting at $200." I heard him ask, I don't think I've ever seen this guy before.

"Yeah I got it, how much longer till the race starts?" Shisui said as he reached into his wallet to pull out the amount asked for.

"Just as soon as everyone racing pays their part and all other bets are finalized, should be about ten minutes." Shisui nodded at the guys words.

"Who the hell has $200 in cash just sitting in their wallet?" I asked no own in general from inside the car.

Shisui pulled out the cash.

"Apparently he does." I said again, sighing.

I was waiting for Shisui to get back in the car but instead Shisui leaned up against the side of his car and kept on talking to whoever that man was, they had a striking resemblance.

Must be another Uchiha.

A few minutes later Shisui hopped back inside and gave me a cheeky grin. I couldn't help but grin back at seeing his happy face.

"Are you ready for this Kitten?"

I nodded my head excitedly. A part of me was nervous because although I've been to car races before, I've never been inside a car while it was racing, but as I continued to look at Shisui, I realized that I wasn't as nervous as what I probably would have been if it was anyone else.

Why was I so calm around him- how can he make me feel so at ease?

"Racers! Are you ready?" Shisui and I both faced forward at the voice. Everyone revved their engines as if they were saying 'yes'.

"Now I want a nice clean race, no cutting corners and no shortcuts. You race the track provided and race at your fastest speed you can handle. And remember, we have droids flying around and one above each racer to catch you if you do cheat, so don't be a fucking shit bag and you should be fine."

I laughed at the words 'shit bag'. That's the first time I've ever heard such an insult.

"Now then, let the races begin!" The man then ran off the track as a female took his place, wearing incredibly small shorts and a bra, a red flag in hand.

"Here it goes Kitten, brace yourself." Shisui said as the girl raised the red flag, twirled it a little before snapping her hand down.

I slammed back in the seat as Shisui slammed on the gas and lurched forward. The three other cars were all about the same next to us, some lagging behind more than others but all pretty close.

As we came around to our first corner I could see one of the droids the guy from earlier was talking about flying above us.

No one would really play dirty, would they?

I looked over at Shisui who had a hard look of determination set on his face. His jaw was clenched showing off his chiseled jaw line and his high cheek bones while his eyebrows were furrowed.

I looked back to the front where two cars had managed to pull in front of Shisui who up until this point was in the lead. One red car and one blue one, now side by side and neck to neck.

"Shit." Shisui and I both cursed at the same time. Shisui shifted gears as he tried to catch up to them.

But I watch in horror as the person in the blue car rammed into the red car. The red car had swerved left to right before hitting the curb of the street and flipped over.

A scream escaped from my mouth as the car had flipped over Shisui's and land right on top of the car that was behind us. Leaving only the blue car and Shisui in this race.

"What that fuck? What the actual fuck!?" I cry out, enraged. I turn around in the car seat to look through the back window to see that the red car was upside down on the street while the black car that it had landed on was on its side. Seconds later both cars caught on fire.

"Shisui!?" I screamed when the blue car slowed down just enough so that it was right next to us, right next to me on the passenger side.

"Son of a bitch." Shisui swore and he shifted gears again. The blue car swerved and hit my side of the car. I screamed again when the window broke and the car spun around. However we didn't spin out of control.

Shisui used the force of the hit to spin us around and Shisui was now driving in reverse.

Because the blue car had slowed down to get to us and to hit us, Shisui was now in the lead. But by the look on Shisui's face I could tell that he was no longer interested in winning the race. He wanted us out of here.

As Shisui got further away from the blue car Shisui spun the car back around so he was no longer driving in reverse.

I turned around again to see if the blue car was catching up with us but there was no sign of it. It was gone.

Shisui must have realized it too because his tense form relaxed a bit. Shisui had cut through several street to get back to where the race had started. The mass of people backed out of Shisui's way as he came through but as he parked the car the swarm of people rushed to the car.

Shisui rolled down his window so he could hear better about what they were all trying to say.

The entire crowed was speaking all at once about how they were happy that he was okay and asking about what the hell had just happened.

"Get out of my way! Make room!" The man who was conducting the event was back again. "Shisui, are you alright?"

"Yeah Obito, I'm fine. Who was that guy? Did you know who he was?" The man now known as Obito shook his head.

"Not a clue man, it was his first race, his debut if you will. All he'd said was that he was here to make an impression."

"Well he certainly did." I said more to myself than anything.

"And how are you doll? Can't imagine you enjoyed being slammed like that." Obito said as he looking in through Shisui's side of the car to look at me.

I turned to face him and Shisui completely, only for Obito to cringe and Shisui's face turn livid. I must have looked pretty confused because Shisui reached up and touched my face.

I hissed as I felt a stinging pain where he touched before he pulled his hand back with blood on it.

It must have happened when the blue car slammed up on the side of the car and the glass shattered. When it hit my face it must have cut it.

Obito looked back to the crowd and basically told them all to scatter before the cops showed up. Also that any race that was planned was to be cancelled until the blue car and its driver was found. Obito came back to the open window before handing a set of keys to Shisui.

"You can leave your car at the shop and take the hulk for a few days until we get yours fixed up again. And also, here's this back." Obito said as he handed him back the $200 he put down for the race.

"Thanks Obito, I'll be seeing you around. Let me know if something comes up or if you need me for anything." Shisui said as he pocketed the keys and the money.

"Will do, take care cousin. See you later doll." Obito said to Shisui before acknowledging me one last time before leaving.

By now the crowd was just about gone and you could hear police sirens in the distance.

"Come on kitten." Shisui said with a tired sigh. "Let's get you home."

I looked at my phone and saw that it was around three in the morning. It was a good thing mom told me I could stay home another day, because I would have been too tired to stay awake in class.

Shisui stopped by a car shop and dropped off his car before taking out the keys from his pocket and unlocked a green car.

"Is that why he said you can take the hulk for a few days, because it's green?" I asked with disbelief in my voice, causing Shisui to grin despite what just happened.

Shisui came back over to my side and opened my door for me. As I got out of the car small pieces of glass fell from my body.

I frowned and shook off the rest of the glass before looking up at Shisui who hasn't moved from his position in front of me. There was an odd look on his face and he looked like he wanted to tell me something.

He opened and closed his mouth a few times before he just muttered "Oh to hell with it." He grabbed my face with both hands and slanted his lips over mine, making my heart explode in my chest.

Now while it was certainly unexpected I wasted no time in pulling him in closer to deepen the kiss. We stood there making out for a good few minutes.

Pausing every once in a while to catch our breath before getting right back into it.

"I should really get you home." Shisui muttered before kissing me again. I nodded my head. "It is getting late." I said before running my fingers through his hair and pulling him back in again.

Shisui groaned before he grabbed my waist and lifted me up. I wrapped my legs around his waist and let him carry me over to a table where he sat me down and continued to kiss me.

Another few minutes later I stopped Shisui, my jaw was really starting to hurt now because of how long we've been going at it.

"What was all that for?" I asked breathlessly.

Shisui looked me in the eyes before he spoke.

"Honestly, I've wanted to do that since the day Konan brought you up to me, threw you into my arms, and asked me to take you home. I took you to Sonic that evening not only because it was just the way I was raised, but because I truly wanted to get to know you more. And honestly I didn't plan on coming to pick you up the next day, but then you kissed my cheek and that changed just about everything. I came and picked you up the following morning because you were on my mind the whole night because of that one little kiss. I thought you were so damn beautiful that day I picked you up and you made my heart race when you fell asleep on me. I took you to lunch that day also because I wanted to spend more time with you. I took you home that day after school because I was worried about you, it's also why I spent a good two hours convincing your mom to let me spend the night that night. You have no idea how happy I was when I went to school the next day and your mom asked me to come back over after school to watch over you until she got back home. And then tonight, while I didn't expect for it to turn out this way, was probably one of the best nights I've had in a long time, simply because I spent it with you." After Shisui's speech I was practically rendered speechless. I didn't know what to say so all I did was pull him in for another kiss to which he responded immediately with.

This night was definitely something else.
