I do not own Mass Effect nor it's characters. Maybe it's safe to say I kind of own Amelia Shepard since she is my Shepard from ME 1, and going all the way to the end with ME 3.
Quick note on my part, I didn't have the option of synthesis so that's why I say 'two paths.' I also did despise all the endings and think Bioware owes us more. LOL. But, the systhesis path was decent but I kind of wished for a sort of Buffy the Vampire Slayer death where Shepard's body would be dramatically laying on some kind of pile of rubble and all the team mates that lived would see and mourn [BTVS season 5, episode 22] then we would get an epic epilogue showing everyone's new lives. Of course, if Shepard lived, there would be an even better epilogue with Shepard living a new life with their LI. Anyway, sorry for the ranting. Enjoy.
"That paths are open..but you have to choose.."
Her eyes went from the strange, child-shaped entity at her side to the two paths that had been opened before her. One side, glowing a simple shade of blue, was the path to control. If she picked that one, her body would be destoryed but her mind would become one with the Reapers and she would be able to control them...just as the Illusive Man had said. The other side was a sort of reddish-orange. It was the path of destruction. The Reapers would all be destroyed, just like they had been working towards.
In the end, the Catalyst had said that the Mass Relays would still be destoryed. What could she do? Mutliple races would be stuck on Earth, millions of light-years away from their homeplanets. How would they be able to live on a planet that isn't like their own. Surely they all don't eat the same foods or live in the same conditions.
She shook her head, knowing she didn't have enough blood left to ponder what lives would be like afterwards. 'I have to choose...' she repeated in her mind. As much as she seemed unsure, she knew what she would choose though.
Slowly she began to limp down the middle of the walkway. She grew closer to the section where the two paths connected. It was time to make the choice...
Blue...red...blue...red...
Her feet were taking her to the right, to the red. With every one of her steps, more blood dripped from her wounds. She was lightheaded and ready for everything to be over.
The large reactor shown with the strange shade of red but it only made her angrier. She held up the heavy pistol and shot once...twice...
That's when she felt it...the tears...the endless waterfalls from her eyes...She was doing good...so much good for the universe but still...she was sad...she had always known how the journey was going to end and yet...she was having a hard time accepting it.
Biting her lip, she straightened herself and began to walk with a quickened pace and finger. More shots hitting the reactor, going through it, causing mini-explosions; slowly at first then faster. She didn't stop and shoot the reactor at a distance. No, she knew her story had to end there. Tears falling down her face, she stepped into the reactor's blasts and let her body be engulfed in the explosions.
I'm sorry, Kaiden...I promised myself that when this was over, I would cry in your arms...I'm sorry I can't be there for us to start a new life with you...I think...I think we would have had a beautiful family...
