Hey guys sorry for the delay with the chapter, I'm currently back at uni and its already is full swing with assignments and other uni related stuff, so chapters may not be as frequent don't fret I have no intention of giving Little Light up especially when I still have so much planned for it.
Now onto Little Light chapter 16!
"Natsu, Happy are you two ready yet" Lucy called from the small kitchen as she carefully placed an out to the world sleeping Nashi into a double sided twin stroller.
"Aye" Happy called as he flew down the hallway with a black baby bag slung over his shoulders slightly dangling. The blue exceed was soon followed by Natsu who was cradling a fully awake and fidgeting Kai.
"You sure you got everything like spare nappies and filled bottles" Lucy asked with an almost unnoticed worried tone that did not escape her husband's keen hearing who walked towards her placing his free hand on top of her head patting her hair back gently so that she was facing upwards making eye contact with him.
"Luce c'mon calm down we're just going to the guild there's no need to fret" Natsu finished with his signature smile. Lucy flinched over the fact that he has noticed her distress so easily but then again it was Natsu the dense idiot who somehow always noticed when someone was upset, looking down at her son who was happily flailing his small arms around in the safety of his father's arm she couldn't help but let a small smile form.
"Natsu I'm sorry, I know that I'm being a bit ridiculous but I can't help it, this'll only be the third time we've taken them to the guild and the fact that everyone is going to be extremely excited today because the s-class participants are being announced today" she spoke in a low but calm tone.
"Luce you know everything going to be fine but by the small chance that something does happen just know that they'll have our team, Lissana, Mira and myself on their backs guild mate or not" Natsu chuckled as he finished.
"Yea I guess so" Lucy laughed before turning her attention back to Kai then to Nashi in the stroller "hmmm" she hummed placing a hand under her chin, "Hey Natsu are you fine with to carry Kai, I know we have the stroller and all but I'm that with the way he's flailing about gurgling he'll wake up Nashi which won't end well in our favour."
"Hey if it means no screaming in my ears I fine with it" He laughed unconsciously bringing his free hand to Kai who attempted to grasp a finger however still finding it difficult to grab with his hands.
"If Natsu going to carry Kai then can I put the bag in his side of the stroller?" Happy questioned floating just above the two adults.
"Yea sure" Lucy agreed "So are we all ready to leave now" She continued grabbing onto the stroller's handle
"Aye sir!" Came the unison reply of the dragon slayer and exceed before the small family left and headed for the guild.
"Hey everyone guess who" Natsu shouts kicking the door in throwing his free hand into the air still holding Kai to his chest.
"Aye Charle I got you a fish" Happy called as flew over to the white exceed, while Lucy just placed her head on the stroller handle signing at the unnecessary extravagant entrance as well as trying the figure out where the hell Happy got the fish from since he certainly didn't have one when they left. Fortunelly for her everyone in the guild was currently too excited about the upcoming exam that their entrance went unnoticed however Wendy had noticed them when Happy flew over to her and Charle seeing the small family Wendy began to head towards them.
'Hey glad you guy were able to come' she spoke with a slight nervous and unsure tone.
'Ne Wendy you feeling ok?' Lucy asked slightly worried since Wendy has been chosen to participate four times already but hasn't succeed yet she was concerned that the teenager might be questioning herself just as Cana did before she finally won.
'Umm yea I'm just worried that I may not get chosen.'
'What of course you will and with all the extra training we put in together I'm sure you'll blow the others away' Natsu smiled as he cut off the sky slayers sentence.
'Yea' she nodded with some more confidence. Suddenly the excitement and noise in the guild grew as different sorts of magic began to fly though the air.
'Well they got rowdy fast' Lucy stated with a monotone voice.
'Hey Lucy can you take Kai for me?" Natsu asked as he shifted from one foot to another, the young mother exhaled she knew exactly what was going to happen the moment she took her son back from his brawl crazed father.
'Yea sure, just try not to cause to much damage' she spoke in a defeated tone as Kai was passed to her.
'You're saying that as if it's a bad thing' Natsu exclaimed in a pretend hurt before smiling and charging off towards the brawl hands alight, Wendy momentarily hesitated stating that she should help make sure no one got to hurt before following. Lucy smiled over the years Wendy had defiantly grown into a more confident teenager who was also now more outgoing but still the same kind-hearted girl she was when she first joined Fairy Tail. The blonde glanced around the guildhall smiling when she saw Levy sitting alone trying to concentrate on a book but seemed to excited to do so, carefully she pushed the stroller over to the bookworm with one hand since the flat floor allowed her to do so.
"Morning Levy" Lucy greeted laughing at how her friend jumped at the sound of her voice.
"Ahh morning Lucy, haven't seen you down here in a while" Levy smiled returning the greeting standing up.
"Haha yea getting here is a bit harder now, speaking of which can you take Kai for a moment, I need to park the stroller and he's being really fussy today." she replied passing the blonde baby over to the bookwork who happily took him.
"Hey Kai causing trouble for your mummy huh" Levy laughed.
"oh yea defiantly keeping us up most nights" Lucy answered sitting down on the opposite side of the table knowing she wouldn't be getting her son back anytime soon, feeling strangely empty she decided to take Nashi from the stroller and cradled the sleeping girl in her arms smiling "anyway I can see that your excited for the announcement today"
"Yea more nervous actually, I was up all night cause I couldn't sleep and what's worse is that I couldn't even focus on reading either" Levy groaned turning her attention to Nashi before becoming serious. "Ne Lucy can I ask you something"
"umm sure" Lucy replied slightly caught off guard at the sudden mood change.
"About the s-class exams what's the secret?, I mean why don't you want to compete in them anymore?'
"ummm i…. well what about your secret with Gajeel?" the blonde retorted as the bluenette turned red.
"ehh whatever do you mean" Levy blushed knowing it was hopeless to question her friend since Lucy as well as Natsu and Wendy already knew.
"I mean the fact that you two have been secretly dating for the last two years and as well as far as dragon slayers and mating go you two are technically married, I mean when do you two plan on telling everyone" Lucy responded in a loud whisper knowing the small lady didn't want anyone knowing.
"I know that we should tell everyone else about us but it's difficult, I don't exactly want everyone questioning it and we never intended to keep it hidden for so long" Levy softly spoke absentmindedly placing her hand on the left side of her lower neck where a tattoo like mark of a grey dragon circling a quill was.
"Right just make sure to tell anyone before you do something stupid like get pregnant try hiding it then" Lucy smirked
"Ahh Lucy" Levy shrieked completely red faced
"Well what's going on over here with all the shrieking" Mira teased joining the conversation along with Erza and Cana.
"Nothing important" Lucy decided to answer in a cool voice knowing that Levy wouldn't be able to compose herself straight away. "By the looks of it you guys just had a meeting with the master about the exam"
"You betcha, ahh I can hardly wait for the old guy to make the announcement, I'm just itching to start the bets" Cana eagerly answered.
"But you won't start any before the participates are announced right Cana?" Erza questionably threatened.
"Yea yea I know, not going to make that mistake again" The brunette mumbled remembering a couple of years back when she started the betting before everyone was announced.
"Especially since this year's exam can be considered a special one" Mira stated.
"Eh how so" Levy who asked slightly afraid about what made this one 'special'
"Because it'll be the last on we'll have for a while" Mira answered however upon seeing the confused looks from the two girls she continued "lately we've been having exams almost every year since defeating Tartarus the reason for this was that we were trying to make up for the time lost during Tenrou however after this exam we would have made up for the lost time"
"Ahh that'll explain it so I'm guessing it was originally planned to have six to make up but since Natsu and Gray hit an impasse in their exam to the point where master found it easier to just let them both pass that means that we only required five to make up instead" Lucy chuckled recalling how it took a little over a week before Natsu and Gray finally decided to drop it and accept that unless it's important battle against an enemy they're an even match. The small group continued to talk about the pass exams after a few minutes had passed Mira, Cana and Erza were called away by the master, shortly after silence spread through the guild hall as Makarov called everyone's attention.
Master Makarov was currently standing on the railing of the second floor of Fairy Tail allowing him to see everyone in the hall, to his sides were all the other current s-class mages, on the left was Erza, Natsu, Mira and Gajeel while on the right was Cana, Laxus, Gray and Elfman.
"Children as you all know today is a special day for our guild the day we announce those who will have the chance of becoming an S-class wizard" He paused as cheers erupted through the halls. "Now before I announce those who are participating I'll firstly let you know which of the current s-class mages will be remaining to keep the guild in line as well as for precaution in case of an enemy attack or if certain events repeat" His voice went solemn knowing what certain 'event' he was referring to, before continuing "The two s-class mages who'll stay behind are Laxus Dreyar and Natsu Dragneel" this came as no surprise to anyone since they all knew Natsu will stay for the obvious reason and Laxus wasn't a shock either since he is still hopping to be guild Master one day. "I have proudly watch all of you grow into strong mages so choosing the participates for this test was no easy task the following eight mages will be the ones to attend this exam" He paused before calling out the following names
Freed Justine
"Another chance to join Laxus in the ranks"
Bixlow
"Babies we've been chosen"
Evergreen
"So our team is fighting among ourselves this'll be interesting"
Lisanna Strauss
"I'll definally join Mira-nee and Elf-nii this time
Juvia Lockser
"Ahh GRAY-SAMA we get to go together"
Levy Mcgarden
"yay I feel so relieved"
Wendy Marvell
"all the training paid off Charle"
Romeo Conbolt
"yea finally a chance to prove myself"
"In a three days' time we will depart for the exam but for now let's celebrate for those who have been chosen"
"YEAH!" Everyone called in excitement as the members began to cause a ruckus with brawls and drinking contest, Lucy and Levy laughed as they noticed how short the amount of time it took for Natsu, Gray and Gajeel to start in their own fight, however Lucy's smile quickly disappeared when she heard faint crying, looking down she realized that the sudden chaos had awaken the sleeping girl.
"Ahh Nashi shhhh it's ok everything's all right" She spoke in a soft yet panicked tone as she carefully shook her knee trying to calm the awake and scared girl down, looking up she noticed Levy was having a similar problem with Kai, realizing that the twins we're both scared and confused at the sudden noise she picked up the baby bag from the stroller and quickly motioned to Levy to follow her into the guild's infirmary where a spell protected the room from the noise of the ruckus outside so that any injured member can rest peacefully or for a place to take upset babies.
"C'mon Nashi see everything is quieter now there's no need to worry mummy's here" Lucy cooed now sitting on one of the beds cuddling into her daughter who was now wailing along with her brother who starting to cry as Levy tried to calm him.
"Shh Kai its ok" Levy cooed doing her best to mimic Lucy's calming voice, the blunette look up as several loud footsteps could be heard heading towards the infirmary before the door opened.
"Lucy!" Natsu called at the door in a worried tone along with Erza, Gray, Mira, and Cana, only to receive a glare from two females as another loud wail ripped through the room causing Natsu and Wendy to visible cringe. "Lucy what's wrong" the slayer asked in a more controlled quieter voice but worry could still be detected as he approached Levy taking Kai from her and held him close as the he crying soften
"Shh it's ok" Lucy whispered as Nashi began to calm before turning her attention back to the others at the door "Calm down Natsu everything's fine, it's just that the sudden fighting and loud noise scared them, especially Nashi" She whispered the last part allowing only Natsu to hear looking back down at her daughter "Mira can you please grab and bottle from the bag" She asked slowly stroking Nashi's back attempting to calm her.
"Yea sure" Mira grabbed one of the bottles passing it to Natsu as he heated it before giving the bottle to Lucy. No one questioned why she preferred the bottle since they all knew that Lucy was too self-conscious to even imagine breastfeeding in the guild…that and Gray was in the room. The blonde slowly enticed the bottle to the pinkette infant smiling as she accepted the drink calming down instantly.
"There we go, see everything is all right" the mother smiled feeling relief that her daughter was finally better ignoring the smiles she was getting from her other guild mates "how's Kai doing?" She asked looking to Natsu.
"He's calmed down seems like he has finally fallen asleep though"
"Ahhh So cute, you two definably know what you're doing and it's all so adorable" Mira cheered finding that she couldn't contain her fangirl any longer.
"Yea especially how to get them to stop crying dam that was loud" Gray commented
"Well when it wakes you up most nights you would hope to learn how to deal with it" Lucy replied as she burped Nashi.
"I don't know if I can deal with that every night" Levy stated "I mean just then I was having trouble and that was only for a few minutes"
"Well since everything is fine now I suggest we head back down however im assuming you two will be staying here?" Erza asked gesturing to Natsu and Lucy.
"Yea since we can't exactly go back downstairs with the twins" Natsu answered.
"Wait before we go anywhere I want to ask you a question Lucy that everyone wants to know the answer to and I expect one" Cana demanded knowing that it was now or never, the Blonde on the other hand stiffened already knowing what the question was "Lucy over the years you have become a freaking strong mage and fighter so I want to know why the hell three years ago you stated that you no longer want to be part of the s-class exams?"
Lucy froze looking around the room for help she only saw equally curious and guilty faces instantly knowing that no one was going to help out of this, bringing Nashi closer to her chest she felt the bed shift looking up she noticed that Natsu had sat beside her and placing his free hand on hers softly rubbing his thumb on her palm in a calming motion glancing at his face she knew that he was saying that right now was the time to tell everybody, looking down she took a deep breath.
"Because I don't deserve it"
There was silence but seeing that the other were about to argue the blonde quickly silenced them by rooming her hand from Natsu's and lifting it up in a stopping motion before deciding to explain herself,
"It's not what you all think though, I say that I don't deserve it not because I don't value myself or what I give to the guild as a fairy tail wizard. It's because those three times I participated in the exam the first time with Cana on Tenrou and the other two as an potential winner and after seeing how determined everyone else was and how they fought with such passion, I realized I had no right to it" she paused as she remembered watching how determined Cana was as she fought against Natsu before claiming victory as well as how long and determined Natsu and Gray fought before Master stepped in stopping the battle in a tie before continuing "a lot of you have been here in Fairy Tail since you were kids and I know that to most of the members here becoming S-Class is like achieving a lifelong dream" she stopped again to breath recalling the smirk Gajeel held for about a week when he won to Elfman sprouting 'man' comments continuously, she continued with a sad smile "but for me I didn't even know what S-class was until after I joined the guild and truthfully it wasn't something I ever strived to achieved like everyone else and I felt like by participating I was stealing the opportunity from someone who really wanted it so that's why I decided that I was happy with where I was in the guild" Lucy finished surprisingly feeling as if a heavy load has been lifted from her shoulder, she didn't want to look at her friends though fearing the worst that they may think less of her now, what she didn't expect however was a small soft cheer from the group.
"Was that all Lu-chan my god for the longest time you had me thinking that something horrible had happen" Levy signed in relief followed by nods of agreement from Gray and Cana.
"Lucy, while I can say that I respect and understand your reasoning I want you to know that no one thinks of you in that way" Erza spoke with her stern voice letting everyone know how serious she was.
"I know Erza both Natsu and Master had told me the same thing, master even told me that if I wish to ever participate in a test all I need to do is ask" the celestial mage softly agreed glancing at her husband.
"Alright then since everything been sorted I think we should get back to the party, Erza can you help me with damage control" Mira smiled as she ushered everyone out of the room before turning back to the family.
"Natsu, I'll let Happy know that you four are up here" She gestured before leaving
"Thanks Mira" Natsu thanked the barmaid before sighing leaning back so he was laying on his back with Kai sleeping on his chest under the secure grip of his laft arm while the right was draped across his face"I'm assuming we're not going home tonight then"
"Yea by the time they all calm down it'll be too late to take them back" Lucy replied in a defeated voice following her husband's actions placing her arms around the infant securing Nashi to her chest. "You know you were right about feeling better once I told them why I didn't do the exams anymore" She whispered
"Of course I was I'm just that awesome" He smiled knowing that she was already rolling her eyes.
"Whatever" she retorted moving her hand in soft stroking motions on her daughter's back closing her eyes enjoying the peace.
"Natsuuu Lucy turning you all into weirdo's that's not how you sleep on a bed" Happy teased floating above the small family.
"Dammit Happy always one to break the peace aren't you"
"Hey Happy thought you were going we Charle and Wendy" Natsu spoke without removing his arm.
"Yea but then Romeo went home with them for the night, they liiikkee each other" the exceed rolled his tongue before sitting in the small space between Lucy and Natsu "So we're staying here for the night?"
"Yea, we don't really have another option" Lucy grumbled feeling the tiredness lure her to sleep.
"Ok then night" Happy yawn before answering the call off sleep soon followed by Natsu and Lucy as the all laid on their backs clutching either Nashi or Kai to their chest as the guild party on all through the night downstairs.

again sorry for the long delay just been very busy lately
This chapter probably caused the biggest writers block for me so often I had it open and was only able to add a few lines but no more cause it is finished yay
did you know apparently quite a few of the guild members last names have not been mentioned yet.
As mentioned I'm going to skip the s-class exam since I used it as a setup for certain happenings in the story
