Hey guys heres chapter 23 for you, hope you enjoy it, this has actually been one of the chapters that I've been wanting to write for a while and couldn't wait until I got up to it so when I did it was like oh, I can finally write this yay. Anyway hope you enjoy it.
*at the Dragneel House*
'That should be it' Freed exclaimed as he waved his sword completing the last rune surrounding the area around the Dragneel house.
'Thanks for doing this Freed, it takes a lot off of the mind' Lucy gladly expressed as she stood next to the rune mage.
'No problem Lucy, if we had something like Wyverns nearby our house with Ru-ne i would want some reassurance that it's safe around' Freed add.
'Yea well you guys don't have to worry about it living in the city and not out in the wood' Lucy gave a little laugh looking at the extended house 'but it is cozy and nice out here, beats living in a mansion' she smiled looking out at the tree's as an afternoon breeze rustled the trees.
'I will say it is very nice out here' Freed added 'but i do have get back to the guild to meet up with Mira we have to figure out who should go on the next mission between us while the other watches ru-ne, speaking of which are is he still inside with your two?' Freed questioned in which Lucy nodded.
'Yea when i left them to come out a few minutes ago they were in the lounge room playing so hopefully they haven't gotten into too much trouble' The blonde answered sounding hopeful before sighing 'might as well go see what destruction they've managed to cause within a few minutes' she finished as the two mages headed inside.
''are we allowed in here' Ru-ne asked standing in the middle of Lucy's writing room, as he watched Nashi pull some books from a shelf while Kai arrange them into the start of a building looking structure.
'Well umm yea we are allowed' Nashi answered as Kai looked at her in confusion before continuing stacking.
'So what are we doing' the mint haired boy asked trying to balance a book so its standing.
'We wanna make a castle like Metty's' Kai added excitedly placing more books on top of each other.
'Yea part of Metty's room is just made of old big boring books like this huge castle' Nashi stated as she began to put books together.
'And they never fall down cause her dad uses this iron stuff to keep them together' Kai exclaimed before pouting as they're small structure fell as it was bumped.
'do you have any sticky stuff' Ru-ne asked as the structure fell again causing the two to turn to him
'Sticky stuff?' they both asked confused.
'Umm well one time one of my toys broke and i was sad but then mummy used this sticky stuff to on it and fixed it' Ru-ne explained.
'Ahh i know what you mean i think there's some in the writing desk' Nashi beamed as she pulled at one of the draws opened pulling out a tube of glue 'yea we can use this' she smiled excitedly before squirting some of the glue onto a book then continued to slam another one on top
'Hey pass it i wanna try' Kai cried as he grabbed the tube and continued to stick another two books together. 'yea with this we'll have a book castle in no time' Nashi expressed excitedly as her and Kai continued glueing and placing books while Ru-ne passed the ones from the pile to either of them, this continued for another couple of minutes until both Lucy and Freed walked into the room. Both adults we're instantly shocked at the site of the three young kids on the floor with a pile of books which seem to have been either ripped or crumpled as they were pulled from place and was next to another stack of books also damaged except these ones were covered also covered in glue permanently damaging beyond repair. Freed looked on with a face of pure shock while Lucy instantly paled at the site of her beloved books and her writing reference material destroyed. The older male turned to the mother as he heard her take a deep breath.
'Freed can umm can you please watch the kids for a moment' her voice was shaky seeing the rune mage nodded Lucy turned around and shakely walk away back outside. Freed meanwhile turned his attention back to the three troublemakers who were all staring at him wide eye and each with a confused look as if not understanding what they have done wrong. The mint haired man was about to ask what they were doing before cringing while vaguely noticing that Nashi also flinched as he heard a distinct yell of curses coming from outside which was followed by Lucy's return looking a bit less distressed.
taking a deep breath the celestial mage turned towards the older man
'Freed may you please take Ru-ne home' Her voice sounded calm but he knew better knowing she it was just a facade and feeling fearful of even being near the enrage blonde he merely nodded before quietly picking up his son who still seemed confused and question what was wrong and why were they leaving now in which he only replied that they will talk when they get home before he nodded his leave to Lucy before exiting the house. Once hearing the door close the blonde turned to the twins who both still held both a confused and now a guilty look.
'What are you two doing in here' Lucy kept the same tone she used before.
'Umm we just wanted to make a castle like Metty has' Kai answered in a soft tone already knowing that both him and his sister are in trouble...BIG trouble.
'well didn't i tell you both that you're not allowed in here without me or your dad with you much less touch my books' She paused for a second trying to recollect and calm her anger knowing that she was talking to her two young kids and not one of the other guild members so she knows that she has to be careful in both tone and words however her anger only began to grow more as she noticed the door 'this room was locked how did you get in here' She questioned angrily as Nashi and Kai both looked down as they mumbled. 'I didn't hear that'
'we broke the lock' they both answered at the same time looking everywhere but at their mother.
'Wha' Lucy quickly turned to the door only to see the lock with several hairpins and a fork shoved into the hole breaking it, her anger only grew as she turned back to the two.
'So you both deliberately...purposefully disobeyed both me and your father'
'But..but we just wanted to play' Kai interrupted tears forming as he looked down.
'Yea what wrong with playing' Nashi defended in a yell with tears also forming in her eyes like her brother except she was looking at her mum instead of the floor. Lucy was currently doing her best to remain calm.
'Firstly both of you have broken a rule that you knew about secondly you're not allowed to play in here because those books that are now on the floor damaged possibly even ruined are very important and valuable as well as notes that i've been using for my novel' she finished in a stern voice looking directly at the two as she spoke.
'So they're just books we always go to book shops so we can get more' Nashi yelled in frustration taking a step forward while Kai remained still while Lucy was livid not only was her daughter back chatting her but she was also showing no respect for other people's property something that both her and Natsu made sure that they both knew about. however in her anger she also noticed that Kai was doing nothing other than standing in the same spot crying.
'Kai go to your room i will talk to you later, Nashi stop back chatting and show some respect for other's property a lot of those books are expensive and some cannot be replace' Her tone growing sterner as more anger began to show.
'WHat why can Kai leave he did this as well' Nashi claimed as her voice squeaked as she took another step forward as Kai stood still. Lucy could feel her patience breaking as she was trying to figure out why her daughter was misbehaving so badly sure there been some problems with the two previously but nothing like this.
'Because Kai isn't backing chatting me or yelling' Lucy snapped stepping closer to her daughter not expecting what was to come next..none of them were.
'No your just being UNFAIR' Nashi yelled taking another step throwing her arms downwards not expecting the fire that flew at from her hands towards her mother unintentionally burning her. The blonde couldn't help the scream that she let out as the fire made contact with her skin, Kai eye's widen to scared to move as he watch his mum grab her burnt arm while his sister began to panic.
'Mummy' Nashi screamed as more fire burst forward from her hands catching a light in parts of the room causing her to go into a full panic since her left hand was now engulfed in flames that shot outwards whenever she moved, screaming she tried to grabbing her hand with her right one however at the contact with her left the right hand combusted as well making Nashi more scared and panic she was too engulfed by fear that she didnt noticed that the fire wasn't actually burning or hurting her.
Meanwhile Kai was could only stare at the room as the fire was growing, he could feel the heat radiating on his skin, he didn't know what to do as he looked at his sister who was flailing her arms presumably trying to get rid of the flames in her hands causing them to only spread up her arms turning to his mum who was holding onto her burnt arm not yet fulling grasping what just happened. Kai was scared and he didn't know what to do, sure his dad had showed him and Nashi his fire many times so fire itself was no stranger in their lives but this fire was different, it wasn't his father's and there wasn't any control and this is what scared him.
Lucy was speechless as she held her arm in surprised her braining taking a moment to comprehend what has just occurred it wasn't until she felt the sudden spike in the temperature of the room that she caught up to the moment looking upwards from her arm she felt as if time froze.
The entire room was now on fire, Kai was in the corner closest to her seemly to scared to move as he looked transfixed at the flames and in the middle of it all was her daughter who was screaming and crying in fright as both of her arms are now on fire, it was then than Lucy realized that now wasn't the time to be in a had once again set into motion as Lucy sprung forward though the flames feeling them lick and burn her skin as she grabbed kai and pulled him to her chest before turning to the entry of the room and pushing him into the doorway out of the fire.
'Kai, Run and get Freed' she spoke quickly hoping that the rune mage hadn't gotten far since he left once she saw him nod and run from the room Lucy turned towards Nashi and rushed towards her wrapping her arms around the girl biting her lip trying to keep herself from screaming from the burning pain due to the flames on her daughters body. 'Nashi shh it's ok calm down' Lucy spoke in a calming tone stroking her pink hair as the celestial mage tried to ignore the burning in her arms and chest, however unfortunately her calming attempts did nothing for her daughter as the girl was still screaming and the fire was growing and spreading throughout the young girls body, panicking and not knowing what to do and unable to think of anything better to do Lucy picked her daughter up clenching her teeth as the pain rushed through her before she started to run out of the house heading towards the guild.
As she ran towards the hall she could see Freed approaching them quickly while holding ru-ne on to his chest in one arm and kai on his back, he looked on in horror at Lucy due to her burnt arms and clothes along with the screaming and flaming Nahs in her arms the two paused briefly as the met
'Freed please deal with the fire' she pleaded and continued running as he nodded and ran towards the house.
It felt like forever before the celestial mage managed to make it to the guild kicking the doors opening so that she didn't have to stop running.
'Minna please help' Lucy shouted gaining everyone's attention causing Mira. Lissanna and Juvia to instantly head towards her as they noticed the screaming flaming girl in the blondes arms. Making eye contact with the mother Juvia took Nashi from Lucy's arms causing stream to fill the surrounding area before Juvia created a small water lock around the child's body except her head immediately extinguishing the fire that had surrounded her body, however Nashi was still screaming and crying making Lucy to pull her from Juvia's arms back into hers
'Nashi its ok, nothing is wrong, it's ok, it's ok' Lucy cooed as her voice was shaking she could feel her eyes getting watery as she felt so useless right now she didn't know what to do to help her screaming daughter. feeling a tap on her shoulder she looked upwards eye's meeting Mira's who held a calm aura, understanding flooded through her body.
'Ok' she mumbled as the takeover mage place her hand on the crying pinkettes forehead before muttering as a small glow formed under her hand before Nashi fell limp in unconscious as Lucy held her closer.
'Let head to the infirmary' Juvia spoke in a soft tone as she noticed the harsh burns that Lucy had. Juvia began walking before turning back noticing that Lucy had yet to move as she just stood by the entrance of the guild holding tightly onto her daughter slightly shaking. Juvia and Mira exchanged a look before nodding in agreement as Mira walked back to the key holder and went to take Nashi from the her causing a reaction from the blonde.
'I'll take Nashi to one of the spare rooms in the guild so she can rest on a nice bed and i'll watch her as well ok' Mira expressed in a calm tone.
'Ok thank you Mira' her voice was soft as she slowly relish her grip on Nashi allowing the barmaid to take her.
'Lucy i'll help you with your burns in the infirmary ok' Juvia volunteer.
'Yea' Lucy held the same solemn tone. Now that the panic and drama was over she could feel the intense stinging pain growing throughout her body.
Once they were at the infirmary Lucy was sitting on the side of the bed with her arms held out while Juvia stood in front of her before forming water around the severe burns. At the sudden cooling relief from the burning sensation the blonde couldn't help but let out an involuntary moan of relief in which Juvia smirk as she saw an opportunity to try and create a happier mood.
'Sooo ex love rival to think this whole time it was never Gray-sama you wanted' Juvia finished with a playful smile, Lucy looking down her friend softly smiling catching onto what her friend was trying to do to help her
'Oh no and after all these years of trying to hide my true feelings for you just because of a careless moan' she replied in a mock tone
'To think Lucy-sama thought the same after all these years' Juvia added copying the tone her friend used, both of them looked at each other before laughing as Juvia continued using her water to relieve the pain. After a few more minutes of trying to relieve the pain, the water mage then began to banage what she could of the burns.
'Hey Juvia' Lucy mutterer
'Hmm?'
'Thanks, for everything'
'No problem ex love rival' Juvia smirked as she finished tying the cloth banaged feeling happy as her friend let out a small laugh at the old nickname between the two.
Meanwhile Team Natsu had just arrived at Magnolia's train station and after pulling Natsu off the train the four decided to head to Natsu,Lucy and Happy's house to since Lucy lived there, therefore it only made sense to raid the house before heading to the guild to discuss what they have found on their mission. However this plan was broken as they saw Freed leaving the house with Ru-ne and Kai walking from the house all of them covered in ash. At seeing his dad approach them Kai instantly ran towards him freaking out.
'Daddy it's not Nashi's fault she didn't mean to' he cried out grabbing onto Natsu's leg
'What..What's happened' Natsu questioned feeling panicked and worried as he quickly squatted down picking up the young boy and held him to his chest carefully brushing the ash from the boy's hair.
'There was a bit of an accident at the house i don't know what happened but there was a fire and i think something happened with Nashi, Lucy taken her to the guild' Freed tried to explain not really understanding what had happened only that he had just needed to put out a fire at the Dragneel house. Upon hearing the news Natsu paled before taking off towards the guild with Happy making sure to carefully hold onto Kai while Erza, Gray and Freed who had ru-ne followed behind.
Once arriving at the guild he instantly picked up on Nashi's scent and followed it into a basic room which had Nashi laying into bed with Mira and Lissanna sitting next to the bed. The takeover mage looked up as she heard someone approach and dropped her guard as she realized who it was.
'What happened' Natsu asked feeling less worried as he could tell that there was no physical damaged on the girls body but was still concerned, sitting down on the bed and with Kai in his lap.
'What did you do to her?' Kai whimpered not really understanding what he has just witnessed.
'I gave her a basic sleep spell to calm her down she should be waking up soon' Mira explained.
'Calm her down? Mira what happened' Natsu asked sternly wanting an answer signing Mira glance downwards at Kai before looking back at Natsu than to Lissanna. Catching her implications Natsu brought Kai closer to him before standing
'Ne Kai do you want to go play with Lissanna for a bit' Natsu smiled down at his son hoping to calm him as Kai looked up at his dad than to his sister before feeling his dad bring him closer 'Don't worry she's ok' Natsu whisper rubbing his hands on the boys back in a reassuring manner.
'Ok' Kai mutter before he felt himself being pasted to Lissanna who smiled down at him before walking out of the room. Seeing that Kai was now out of the room Mira went on to explain how Lucy had come into the guild with Nashi who was on fire and was in a state of panic so their best option at the time was to use a sleep spell.
'Where's Lucy now?' Natsu inquired once Mira finished explaining,
'Juvia took her to the infirmary to help her with the burns' Mira answered while Natsu sat on the bed comprehending the situation.
'I'll go let them know your back ok'
'Yea thanks' Natsu watch as the take over mage left before turning to Nashi sighing.
'Nashi i know you're awake' He spoke softly causing a squeak to come from the girl as she pulled the blanket over her head. Natsu felt upset as he could hear her soft whimpers.
'shh Nashi it's ok no one blames you' Natsu cooed placing his hand on her backing rubbing her in a comforting manner as he tried to calm the whimpering girl down.
'But i, but i hurt mummy' She cried from under the blanket.
'it's ok i don't think mummy will blame you it was an accident ok' He tried again but got no response from the girl, siging his looked up as he sensed someone entering seeing it was his mate, he stood to meet her pulling her into a brief hug ensuring himself that everyone was ok at least physically knowing that the burns will heal. after pulling apart Natsu allowed Lucy to walk towards the bed before laying down right next to the curled up whimpering bundle under the blankets.
'Nashi' she said in a soft yet stern tone causing the whimpering to stop briefly as the blanket was pulled from her and replace by bandage arms circling her body.
'Im so relieved you're ok' Lucy spoke as she hugged the scared girl.
'Mummy...im sorry' Nashi began crying into her mother's chest.
'it's ok i'm not angry it was all an accident you didn't mean to do anything' Lucy cooed brushing the pinkettes hair 'in fact putting this aside i think you should be rather happy' she added.
'Huh but why?' Nashi was now confused as to why she or her parents should be happy about this turning to her dad she saw that he also had a grin as she sat on the bed.
'Well Nashi you made fire' Natsu added he lit his hand alight, Nashi's was amazed as realization took over, she had used magic.
'I used magic' she whisper before feeling saddened 'but i hurt mummy with it' she finished burying herself into her mum's chest feeling ashamed but looked up again as she felt a large warm hand place itself on her shoulder, she met her dad's eyes who was sitting on the bed next to them.
'Nashi as bad a it is, you should take this a lesson, fire mage is strong and amazing but without control can be dangerous, it should never be used unless you KNOW you can CONTROL it ok' Natsu cautioned making sure to put emphasis on some words 'Right now you are young and i will show you the basics to avoid mishaps such as this but you must promise not to use any fire unless you're training with me or it's an absolute emergency understand, and once i've shown you how to control it you'll have to wait till your a lot older before i show you anything else understand' He made sure to be firm as excited and happy he was over Nashi being able to use fire he knew that restraint had to be put into place, in truth Nashi and Kai were both still too young to be doing any magic.
'Ok' Nashi nodded in understanding feeling excited
'Good, now i don't know about you two or Kai and Happy, but i myself am feeling rather hungry and i dont really feel like cooking so lets go out for Lunch' Lucy offered in which the two pinkettes cheered in agreement as they were leaving the room to go find Kai and Happy Lucy added.
'And afterwards Nashi i will be talking to you and Kai about punishment for the books'
making Nashi stop and suddenly dread finishing lunch while Natsu looked confused 'Nashi go find your brother and Happy so we can go'
'ok' she muttered before walking off.
'Books?, punishment?' Natsu questioned
'I'll explain later, what did you find out about the dark guild' she asked noticing the look of anger on his face
'There definitely made up of those who want revenge and we also found out thier guild name but thats all' He answered frustrated at the lack of knowledge they found
'What is it called' Lucy couldn't help but asked feeling the tension as he looked straight at her.
'Blood rose' his answered was simple but somehow for some reason the simple name sent chills down her spine.
Annd that's it haha hope its all good been a long time since I wrote a chapter in one go since some of the others have taken a few sessions to complete but this one just kept going and couldn't stop haha. Anyway hoped you liked it I tried to keep the 'fight' simple and tried to keep it as a interaction between a mum and a kid who did something bad I hope it was ok, also tried to dumb down the words that were used when having one of the kids talk since theyre a lot younger so I hope that wasn't to bad eitier.
