Hey guys sorry for the long wait
Just a quick note before starting I find it hard to think of all the future generation calling members who aren't their parents Aunty or Uncle will become rather awkward and confusing so for the sake of this story the kids just call adults by their name.
Kinnanna let out a sigh as she heard another loud crash come from inside the guild, turning her direction to the door she debated with herself whether or not to go inside and help Mira keep the guild in order since Erza and Jellal were supposedly on a mission even though no request form was signed saying they had left.
'Whoa that's so cool' a voice broke Kinnana from her thoughts turning her attention back to the young children that were currently surrounding Trent and admiring his new pellet gun as he shot at several targets on the fence with brilliant accuracy, what else could one expect from an Connell child. Watching them all play brought up some unwanted thoughts about her own future with a certain poison dragon slayer, it had been a while since they had last saw each other, touch each other, the purple hair women didn't notice the blush that was covering her face nor that someone had walked outside and placed a hand on her shoulder.
'Ahhh' Kinnanna screamed as she was brought out of her thoughts.
'Sorry didn't mean to scare you' Bisca laughed.
'Ehh Kina why are you all red' a young teenage Asuka teased.
'Ah haha no reason' Said girl waved off 'anyway why are you to out here?'
'To get Trent so we can leave' Bisca answered
'It's stupid we got to take this easy mission because he's coming' Asuka whined.
'Asuka!' Bisca scowled 'You may not remember but when you first started missions they were all easy and basic'
'Fine whatever, Oi Trent we're about to leave' The young girl called to her brother, causing him to look up from explaining parts of his gun to Nashi, Kai, Ru-ne and Aisu while keeping it away from Metty who for some reason kept saying it smells good.
'Coming' He called back excitedly 'Cya guys' Trent smile as he ran over towards his mum and sister. 'Race you inside' He called as he ran passed Asuka
'Wha no fair' The raven haired girl replied running after him leaving there mother outside with the guild mate
'Honestly it's getting so hard with those two, especially with Asuka she's barely a teenager and it's already getting bad' Bisca complained while her companion laughed.
'Well if you think that's bad just wait until these guys grow up since the biggest gap is two years between them' the barmaid joked causing the mother to pale.
'Oh god, the guild will be destroyed on a daily basis' Both females couldn't help but laugh as they imagined all of the possible scenarios that would take place in the future but stopped as another loud bang could be heard from inside.
'We should go see if they need help it sounds as if its getting back, they'll be fine on their own right' Kinanna questioned.
'Yea it's not the first time they'll be alone by themselves, truth be told i don't think anyone knows you're out here with the kids, since there are strong runes circling the guild so no one without the mark can get in and it's not like we're that far away' Bisca reinsured.
'Ok, Nashi, Kai, Metty, Aizu, Ru-ne we're going inside now so if anything happens please come get us ok' Kinnana called out
'AYE' all of the children responded as they watched the two adults go inside before they continued playing as they acted out scenes of the fights and missions their parents have told them about.
'And then this huge snow tentacle like monster started chasing them' Nashi exclaimed as she ran while Kai 'chased' her while roaring, it was in this instances that Nashi lost her footing and screech with a small flame coming out of her mouth before hitting the ground.
'Nash are you ok' Metty asked as she and the others rushed over towards the fallen pinkette.
'Yea' Nashi sulked as she readjusted her new earmuffs.
'You used fire' Ru-ne exclaimed excitedly.
'Yea i did' Nashi whispered before standing not noticing the minor annoyed look her brother was giving her 'Yea i used fire, me and Daddy have been training a lot and I'm a lot better see' Nash finished explaining as she lit a small flame on her finger as Metty, Ru-ne and Aizu look on with admiration none of them noticing how Kai seemed to be getting increasingly upset 'And this is nothing compare to what i can really do' She continued to brag.
'Nashi daddy and Mummy said you shouldn't use your magic so stop' Kai interjected with an angry voice.
'You're not the boss of me besides I'm older' Nashi retorted lighting another finger staring at Kai.
'Barely, and you're not meant to use it' Kai stepped forward while the others stepped back unsure what to do since this is the first time they have seen the two fight with each other.
'So what you CAN'T stop me' Nashi continued as they stood face 'Besides you're just jealous cause I can use magic and YOU CAN'T' Nashi only just got to finished as she was forcibly pushed backwards.
'Don't say that' Kai yelled tears forming at his sister only to be pushed by her.
'Why it's true' Nashi yelled as the fight grew while Metty and Ru-ne tried to stop the two with no success
'Aizu go get someone' Metty ordered trying to grab nashi but was unable to, said girl went to hit Kai unconsciously using her fire and all went silent as the fight suddenly ended at the pain yelled Kai released as he clutched his hand crying while his sister stood there in shock.
'Kai I di' the pinkette was cut off.
'THATS WHY YOU SHOULDN'T USE IT' the blonde shouted loudly before turning around crying as he ran towards the fence climbing over it using his uninjured hand, while the runes shimmer as he leaves leaving Nashi standing there before trying to chase after her brother however was stopped as both Ru-ne and Metty grabbed her making them stumble backwards falling over as Nashi continued crying
'stop it stop crying' Ru-ne shouts unsure what to in the situation as Metty stands ups and looks backwards and forwards between Nashi and the fence feeling torn over whether to chase her friend or wait for Aizu to come back with the adults.
Aizu rushed inside as soon as Ru-ne had told him to, feeling grateful that the task was given to him, since he didn't want to get involved, Nashi and Kai both looked really scary. As he reached the guild hall the young boy observed that his dad was fighting with Natsu as well as saying Adult and guild only words to each other, without really thinking the black haired boy ran straight towards them unaware that he had ran into the middle of the fight.
'You must be losing your touch Ice princess, I barely felt that' Natsu teased as he cracked his knuckles smirking.
'That cause I'm going easy Flametard, if I hit you with anything else you'll be dead' Gray retorted moving his arms into an attacking position as the two males lunged at each other both with their elementally magic flaring, however both moves were diverted at the last second as a young boy ran in between them.
'Fuck' both mages yelled slamming their attacks into the guild floor since it would be too late to stop them, both barely missing the three and half year old.
'WHAT THE HELL AIZU' Gray yelled in fear, shock and anger at the fact that he had almost hit his son. Although he'll never admit it he was grateful that it was Natsu he was fighting since he knew that his companion knew how to control his attacks and also able to stop them, he didn't want to think what would have happened if he was fighting someone who wouldn't have been able to stop, he didn't even want to think what would have happened if none of them were able to stop, he paled at the thought, running his hand through his hair slightly shaking.
'Aizu what the heck are you doing' Natsu also shouted stunned at the fact that he had also nearly hit one of the guilds kids and as bad as it may sound a part of him was grateful that it wasn't Kai or Nashi who had wandered in.
The shouting had caused the rest of the guild to stop either their own fights or other activities, they all had equal reactions when they realized what had just occurred and were grateful that Juvia wasn't present in the guildhall.
'Dad?' Aizu said in his signature soft tone, trying to get his father's attention seemingly aware of what just happened and acted as if this was a normal conversation for him.
'No Aizu' Gray interrupted kneeling down to better match his son's height placing his hands on the boys shoulders in a slightly tight grip, hands still barely visibly shaking 'What were you thinking' He questioned trying to sound calm but stern, looking into the boys now curious eyes 'you can't just walk into a fight like that ok' he stated sternly looking into Aizu's eyes who look down in thought
'oh...but you said guild fights aren't real fights' Aizu questioned in his soft tone looking confused at his father who held a stunned expression not knowing what to say to make his son understand that while the fights at the guild weren't real there are still dangerous to wander into.
'Ok, yes these aren't real fights, but we're still using magic and attacking one another and if one of those hit you then' he paused not wanting to continue.
'It'll be more than a scratch or a bruise' Lucy stated as she walked towards the scene placing a tender hand on Natsu's shoulder which was incredibly tensed. Admittedly as much as they trusted their guild mates it had always been a fear that one of the twins or other kids getting accidentally caught up in a brawl which is why everyone made sure that they did not happen while the children were playing in the hall unattended, even when with their parents or adult, everyone was still hesitant to start one, and while Gray had Aizu to distract him for now from the almost disaster Natsu did not.
'oh so if I need to say stuff, I shouldn't go to you or mummy if you're fighting' Aizu asked curiously his eyes wide as he absorbed the information.
so if I need to tell you something I should go to you if fighting' Aizu asked looking curiously.
'Exactly you NEVER come near a fight ok' Gray emphasized knowing that his son had understood
'ok' the young boy nodded.
'Aizu what did you need to say?' Lucy asked kneeling down as well with a smile.
'oh Nashi and Kai are fighting' he stated simply again not understanding the severity.
'WHAT' everyone shouted as Lucy and Natsu rushed outside without question, followed by Gray who had picked up his son, as well as Mira and Levy.
Once outside they all acted quickly at the scene before them as Lucy and Mira rushed towards Nashi and Ru-ne separating the two, cooeeing to them trying to calm the crying children down while checking for injuries, while Metty at seeing her mother ran toward Levy and hugged her leg, shaking and hiding her face, causing Levy to lean down and wrap her arms around the girl, however Natsu looked around the small outdoor area freezing as he realized something.
'Where's Kai' He asked loudly with a twinge of fear and anger, his statement caught Lucy's attention, looking around she also realized that her son was nowhere to be seen panic filled her body.
'Nashi where's your brother' She questioned the girl begging for an answer but the small pinkette only shook her head crying more, this only made Lucy jump to the conclusion that something horrible had happened, feeling a spike in temperature she turned to see Natsu standing eyes closed, breathing deeply, she knew that he was trying his best to contain his fear and anger from showing and the flames that were begging to be released. Fortunately for them a small voice broke the tension.
'K..Kai ran away over the fence' Metty started her voice shaking head still buried in her mother's hold.
'What why' Lucy interrupted as she stood up looking at the small girl with blue tinted black hair, trying her best not to be too strict towards the poor girl, walking towards Natsu while holding Nashi's hand.
'he and Nash were fighting about magic and then he pushed her and she pushed him and them Nash used fire so Kai yelled and ran' Metty explained growing more quiet.
'What' Natsu shouted losing some of his control causing all of the kids to shrink back earning glares from the others before turning to Nashi, with the exception of Lucy who had proceeded to pull out two keys and had summoned Virgo and Loke.
'Virgo, Loke Kai's gone can you help us look' Lucy asked with a sense of urgency
'Of Course Hime' Virgo stated before digging a hole and disappeared downwards with Loke.
'Natsu go get happy and the other exceeds to look, Mira can you help me with Nashi and the other children I want to know exactly what has happened' Lucy ordered taking charge as everyone nodded and headed off, a part of her desperately wanting to go look for her son but she knew that she had to deal with her daughter and trust in Natsu, Loke and Virgo as well as her guild mates.
Kai stopped, he was breathing heavily, his face was still red with tears still staining his cheeks he also had several leaves and flower petals stuck to his hair and clothing since in his haste he had accidently ran through a couple of flower bushes, but at the time didn't care, looking around he noticed that he was in a park by a riverbank, wiping his face, Kai walked down to the water remembering how Juvia had help his mum by placing water over her burns, he placed his hands into the water but let out a startled cry as the hand stung at the waters touch causing the young boy to immediately pull the limb from the river and clasp it causing more pain to spread, he didn't know what to do, his hand hurt and he was lost so Kai did the only thing a five year old in his position would do, he sat down on the grass, cradling his hand and cried.
'Now now what are you on about' an unknown female voice lectured causing Kai to jump and shuffle trying to get to his feet before looking up to see a woman who looked to be young thirties or early twenties with dark purple hair. 'Calm down would ya, i won't hurt ya' the lady spoke in an amused tone.
'Wh..who are you?' Kai questioned trying to mimic his father's attack stance as the woman smiled.
'No one of importance' was her simply calm reply as she sat down on the grass by the boy, who after a few seconds reluctantly sat back down next to the violet haired women and cradled his hand.
'What did you do to your hand' The lady asked looking at the blonde, who hesitated before answering.
'My sister burnt it' he whispered looking away.
'I see' the person smiled in a nostalgia manner before turning serious 'Will you let me see it?'
'umm' Kai paused before meekly nodding his head and letting this stranger lightly gasp his hand, the young boy watched on curiously as he watch this women observe his hand before turning to her bag, he had been told quite often by not only his parents but almost everyone else at the guild as well to never talk to strangers but for some reason felt safe with this lady as she pulled out some items.
'This is a special balm for burns, but it will sting, can I put some on?' her voice was soft and had a weird calming effect as Kai nodded but cringe a bit as the cream was applied.
'There ya go, all done you were rather brave, but this is a bad burn, you said it was your sister but how' She questioned as she began to wrap the burn.
'she used magic' Kai sniffed.
'Ok so why did she burn you?'
'i pushed her' he whimpered looking away.
'And why did you do that?'
'Because she was using magic and Dad told her not to but when I told her to stop she said...' Kai started ranting but then stopped looking away trying to hold his tears.
'What did she said?' the women asked as she finished wrapping the hand and looked at the boy with concern and hints of curiosity as well as fascination.
'She said i was jealous that she can use magic but I can't and it's stupid and unfair cause Nashi been able to use magic for a long time now but...but I haven't been able to do anything at all and what if I can never use magic at all and never will and that's why I can't use it at all yet' Kai blurted out beginning to cry again as he continued to explain not even realizing he was telling a complete stranger his fears.
'I see, that is a problem' the lady stated.
'I just scared that I'll never be able to use magic' he whimpered pulling his knees to his chest crying. They both sat by the river silently for a few minutes.
'I traveling a lot helping people who are hurt kinda like what I did with your hand so can I tell you a story about some of the people I helped' the women suddenly asked looking into the river before glancing at the boy who silently nodded.
'One time I helped this couple who were both powerful mages and they had two children who were the same age as each other but one of the children learnt how to use magic at a really early age but the other didn't, in fact it took a longer time for the other child to find their power and when they did, well they wouldn't be someone you wanna mess with, so just because you can't use magic now doesn't mean you'll never will' The women finished as she stood 'maybe you'll be the same as that second child Kai, now unfortunately I have a job to do, so good luck' The person finished going to leave.
'Thank you, for helping...but how did you know my name?' Kai questioned looking fascinated as the violet haired women simply smiled.
'That is also unimportant' She finished before leaving, leaving a confused Kai behind 'I promised i would come see one of you if I was ever back in town, just never said who' she whispered to herself as she left the continued sitting on the bank thinking about what stranger had told him, he didn't really know what to do right now since he was still lost. Suddenly he felt the ground near him begin to shake, standing up in a panic he felt some relief as he saw the familiar figure appear.
'Virgo' he called out feeling relief at the familiar face.
'Kai-sama everyone is worried are you ok especially Hime and Natsu-sama' Virgo questioned.
'Yea' he answered.
'Great, please come with me so we can go back to the guild' Virgo offered her hand.
'What no i don't want to go back not yet' Kai shook his head stepping backwards.
'Well you can't stay here forever' Another voice joined the conversation.
'Loke' Kai exclaimed 'and I don't care I don't wanna go back' Kai crossed his arms stubbornly.
'And why not?' The leader of the zodiac questioned although thinking that his reason may be that he knows if he goes back he'll be in trouble from running off.
'Because I...I just don't want to' Kai murmured.
'Oni-san stay here, I'm going to go inform Hime that Kai has been located' Virgo informed before disappearing into the ground leaving behind a slightly baffled Loke and a stubbornly quite Kai.
Natsu had just returned to the guild hall annoyed, pissed and worried, it's been a couple of hours and he's still failing at picking up Kai's scent due to it leading into a couple of flower bushes throwing off his scent so in his frustration decided to the hall hoping someone else had found something but upon only seeing an anxious guild members including Lucy and a sulking Nashi he knew nothing had been heard.
'dammit' He cursed heading towards his wife 'Nothing?' he didn't know why he asked all he needed was to look at her. Lucy was pale and never felt so worried all she wanted to do was go out there and help find her son but she knew someone had to stay and watch Nashi and right now she was too worried and paranoid to leave her with another member and also knew Natsu had a better chance, none the less she still shook her head, refusing to meet her husband's eyes, however suddenly she jolted her head upwards. 'Luce?' Natsu asked concerned however her actions were explained when Virgo suddenly appeared.
'Hime we've found Kai' The spirit stated.
'Oh my god, thank you where is he Virgo' Lucy was so relieved but quickly realised Kai was not with Virgo.
'He refused to come back, so Onii-chan stayed with him so i can get you or Natsu-sama' Virgo answered.
'Ok i'll get him' Natsu stepped forward before being stopped.
'No, i'll go, from what Nashi told me I know what's going on ok' Lucy interrupted and continued as Natsu reluctantly agreed 'Tell the guild to stop searching and I'll meet you and Nashi at home' Lucy pecked him on the lips before disappearing with Virgo.
Loke let out an annoyed sigh, for the last few minutes he's been trying to get an explanation out of the boy but had so far fail
'Why did both Lucy and Natsu have to be so stubborn, it comes out so much worse in their kids' Loke murmured to himself the fact that he really had no idea what to do with kids didn't help either, he was more than relieve with he felt Virgo's magic energy before the maiden appeared with Lucy.
'Kai' Lucy called as she ran to the boy giving him a once over before bringing him into a hug 'Dont ever do that again ok!' the mother demanded 'and who wrapped your hand?' .
'Sorry and this nice purple haired lady did' Kai muttered hugging back.
'Lucy sweetie, Virgo and I will be taking our leave, feel free to call us anytime' Loke spoke
'yes, and thanks you to so much' Lucy replied as the two were enveloped into a golden light before turning her attention back towards her son.
'Kai' she started slowly 'Nashi told me what happened are you ok' the celestial mages voice was soft as she addressed the boy.
'Mummy, what if I can't use magic and never will be able to' Kai confided hugging his mother, who placed a hand on his head.
'Kai listen to me, maybe not today or tomorrow but you will be able to use magic one day ok' Lucy smiled.
'But how do you know' he whimpered into her hold.
'Well remember when I made you and Nashi do that magic exercised, when you two did it I felt two different magic auras meaning both of you have magic potential' The mother finished as she stroked the boy's back gently.
'But what if I can't use magic until i'm a lot older so I become weaker than everyone else' Kai question but didn't expect the small chuckle that his mother gave.
'Kai, let me tell you something, I never used magic to fight with or defend myself until I was at least sixteen' Lucy explained as the boy's eye's widened.
'But you're so strong even though you were older than dad and everyone else were when they used magic'
'Exactly therefore it doesn't matter how old you are, you always have potential to be the best there is, ok' Lucy smiled tapping the boys nose.
'ok...mummy' Kai asked
'mmm'
'I'm sorry' Kai said looking downwards.
'As long as you never run off again its ok' Lucy smiled as she picked the boy up 'now c'mon lets go home, Daddy was also really worried' The mother added as they headed home.
