here's the truth:
he loves her. and she doesn't love him back.
it's something that makes him feel confused.
but not in the i'm-not-sure-if-i-should-keep-hoping-you'll-love-me-back-someday kind of way. it's more of the i-don't-think-i-understand-this-love kind of confusion. because he knows that this wasn't what they were destined to do.
to not fall in love with each other.
and even though he tries not to overanalyze things and find flaws in every simple situation, he can't help but feel that something is wrong. like something is not adding up. and he's freddie benson, so miscalculations are quite the big deal to him.
he thought he had it all figured out.
from the moment he saw the sun behind her eyes, he thought the rest would come easy. he was the moon and she was the sun and they would collide in this amazing explosion of celestial bodies, bound to be in each others' orbits for as long as the universe would be allowed to exist before ceasing. it would be the perfect love story.
boy loves girl. girl loves boy. no complications, whatsoever.
but what actually happens is that he looks at her and sees the center of the universe and she looks at him and sees a good friend.
and at first, he thought that maybe this was what they got instead of an ugly, green witch. there were not much villains in their fairy tale except for her constant insistence that he was not her prince and the phrase thank you very much, but no.
but as time passes by and each rejection arrives one after another, he wonders if he actually got it all wrong.
maybe, they were just meant to be this way, after all.
