New Hope - Rewritten
Chapter I: New Kid
Nico
There goes that stupid noisy bell again. I, son of Hades, had to go to school. Apparently, I needed more "education" since I came from an "older generation" despite my looks. Hey, blame the Lotus Casino and Hotel for that—keeping people locked in while time flies past outside the place.
On my way to my locker, I get bumped by some girl. I unintentionally glared at her and she seemed to freeze up. "I-I'm so sorry! I-uh-um..." she looked like she wanted to say something more.
"What?" I ask a little impatiently, unsure as to why I decided to stick around.
"C-can you help me find my locker? I think I've been walking around in circles..."
I rolled my eyes; that's all she wanted to ask? "What's your locker number?"
"One hundred eighty-seven." She replies quietly.
With a sigh, I turn around. "Your locker is beside mine, just follow me." I lead the way to our locker and she follows closely. We eventually reach our destination and I point at the empty locker to the left of mine, "That's yours."
She nodded and beamed a smile at me, "Th-thank you." Before I turn to my locker, she sticks out her hand for me to shake, "I'm sorry for not introducing myself earlier on. M-My name is Kairi Wright. May I know your name?" she asks hesitantly.
I don't really like being close to living beings but I made an exception to this shaking girl in front of me, "Nico, Nico di Angelo." I replied as I shook her hand.
I took this opportunity to really take a good look at her. Only then did I realize she had a striking resemblance to Percy Jackson—from the sea-green eyes to the jet black hair. Her unruly and wavy hair reached until her elbows, cascading down her back. She had an athletic build, like any other demigod in training. Kairi also had a necklace with a small trident as a pendant along with her messenger bag that hung from her shoulder.
Breaking the handshake, I turned to fix my stuff. My guess is that she's a demigod—but I may be mistaken. Sneaking a glance at the girl, I notice her books that are clearly about Greek and Roman mythology. "You like mythology?" I ask.
She looked a bit stunned before nodding, "I used to play a card game called 'Mythomagic' but my...guardians got mad and threw them away. I'm still passionate about mythology though!"
My eyes widened, she also played Mythomagic? "Oh yeah? Me too. Here's a question, what is the amount of power of the Poseidon card without his trident?" I challenge.
Kairi smirks, "Five thousand attack. With his trident, it would be fifteen thousand."
I give a small and impressed smile at her, "I think we'll be great friends." At my comment, she seemed surprised. "If you don't want to be friends, it's alright. I understa—"
"No!" she cuts in. "It's just... I've never had a friend before. Most of the people I try to befriend find my passion in mythology weird and just bail on me."
What she said shocked me. This girl is as kind as Hestia yet she never found a good friend to stick by her side? "What's your first class?"
"Mathematics followed by English." She answers.
"It appears we've got the same classes. Shall we get going, friend?"
Her smile mirrored a certain kelp brain I knew, "Let's go, friend!" her happiness was contagious, and I found myself smiling too.
This, is how I met Kairi.
Writer-chan uses Rewritten card!
It's super effective! Reader-san is now confused!
Why, hi, hello there. I decided to polish a few things here since for one thing, I get annoyed whenever I see the block of text and the terrible grammar and euGH NUUUUU so now I'm fixing this story and I might fix the sequel of this story, and might continue it. Again, might. One thing for sure, I want to rewrite this and fix everything. This was my first fanfiction, and I want to leave this fandom with something memorable
Expect great things, Reader-san~!
