Chapter Twenty Five – Love That Let Go

Sakura stormed towards her bedroom, ignoring the slightly pain from her pelvis due to the forceful way she walked down the dark hallway and slammed her bedroom door open. She shut it as forcefully as she had opened it and began to lean on the door as she catch her breath.

The tears she had kept in, was now cascading down her cheeks unrestrained and a sharp pain from her uterus told her that she had been too forceful with herself.

Understanding the hint her body gave her, she began slowly to walk toward her queen sized bed and sat down on it with a sight. Her uterus was still giving away small spasm every now and then and she put a soft hand on her stomach in a way the she hoped was shooting.

She turned her head up and stared at the white painted ceiling like she believed it could answer all her questions. But she knew it wouldn't and now it looked like no one could do it for her anyway.

Her only hope had began to avoid her since after the engagement party a week ago and what annoyed her more was that he had began to sit beside of her fiancé's sister Emin (who had happily made space for him) during the meals. If it was not Emin's way of pushing her enormous (most likely fake) breast against his upper arm, it was his indifferent way of not taking notice of Emin's approaches, that had made Sakura boil with anger.

But today had been the day that Sakura just have had enough of it. After Emin had told her brother that she would marry Kakashi if he could just come around and propose to her and Kakashi had just sipped on his saké indifferently, not even bothering to tell Emin to bugger off, Sakura had left the dinner table and stormed out of the room, telling them she was not hungry anymore.

But did this mean that he was suddenly interested in a tart like Emin?

No. It couldn't be like that, or Sakura hopped it wasn't like that. Why else would he still be here in this mansion?

Even if he couldn't go back to Konoha, he could always go in hiding somewhere and change his identity.

But it still bothered her that he had suddenly just disappeared from the engagement party without a word and left her to defend for herself from Sange, who was very eager to have her for himself every time he was not interrupted by someone who cheered to the husband and wife to be.

To avoid her husband to be, Sakura sought refuge in the shadow of the blond, big breasted Emiko, who was more then happy to 'hide' her from Sange and Sakura found Emiko's presence enjoyable as well as calming.

Listening to Emiko's chatter about her three children, one girl and two boys and her husband who was the son to the daimyo of Cha no Kuni*, made Sakura forget where she was and why.

As the two of them had chattered away about everything between haven and earth, they had suddenly been interrupted by a timid voice beside of Sakura and Sakura had recognized her as the very young woman the older dark haired woman had talked about earlier that evening.

She had asked in a small voice if it was okay for her to join them and Sakura had seen no problem with it. In fact Sakura had been quite pleased to have one more who knew how it was to be pregnant and it also helped her to stop thinking of the silver haired man who had decided to leave the party.

She was fair skinned, had long thin brown hair and big brown almond shaped eyes. She could have been a Hinata in disguise, with her meek and shy behavior and Sakura wanted to recall her name to be Yukimi.

Sakura had fast grown to like the girl and Yukimi, just like Sakura herself, had been 'married away'.The only different was that Yukimi had been married away because her father had owe Yukimi's husband money and the girl had been the payment.

After that, Yukimi's mother had been so devastated with grief to never be able to see her daughter again that she got sick and passed away during the same time Yukimi got the news that she was expecting.

It had been such a sad story that Emiko had began to cry (again) and hugged both of the women beside of her, telling them both if she could she would take them into her own home and make them a part of her family.

Sakura had felt most uncomfortable and Yukimi had blushed in all shades of pink and red while assuring Emiko that she was happily married and her husband was very nice to her. But Sakura couldn't see why Yukimi could be happily married, after all he had 'forced' a 16 year old girl to carry his child and it disgusted her.

But Yukimi must have felt what Sakura had thought, because she had told Sakura softly that she was happy, because he had given her something important and it would be worth it in the end.

"How could you not be happy, when you are trying to make something good together?"

Yukimi's words still ringed in Sakura's head. Even after Sakura had asked her if she haven't had a love interest before she got married to her husband, but Yukimi had just smiled, telling them both that her love interested had passed away a long time ago.

Sakura had just wanted to burst. Burst out to Yukimi that she was being too modest and blinded by the way how a young woman like her should be behaving. That the way she was thinking was wrong.

But watching the couple, as Yukimi's hooked nosed and black haired husband came to reclaim his wife, Sakura could see the tenderness and love he felt for the very young woman in his arms and the thrust as well as the passion Yukimi felt for her husband.

So maybe Yukimi was happy with her much older husband and it had made Sakura slightly jealous, even if she would never admit it out loud, to see them walk away. His hand resting around her back.

It wasn't long time after that, that both Sange and Emiko's husband, a tall gaunt looking man with auburn colored hair and a 'fuji' beard, came to collect them both and Sakura had to admit that despite Emiko's husband gaunt look, he was still pretty good looking and very charming, so Sakura could understand why Emiko had fallen for him.

And yet again in the arms of Sange, Sakura was forced to happily smile at the slightly drunken cheers to the husband and wife to be. It all had left a bitter taste in her mouth and she had been happy when the last of the toasts had been called out and the guests was slowly leaving the party to come again on the wedding day.

Which was due tomorrow, Sakura thought with a sight.

Glancing away from the ceiling and towards the bay window, frowning at the sunny weather outside and wished it could change to suite her foul mood instead. But it had barely rain since she had sat her foot in this place and everyone who had anything to do with the wedding ceremony had prayed that it would be nice weather tomorrow, not that it concerned Sakura. It could rain and she couldn't care less about it.

Sakura's thoughts began to creep back to the engagement party and to Sange, who had showed Sakura like a trophy and not like his wife to be. It had hurt somehow, knowing that all he saw in her was a just a thing to show when he had to and to be discarded when he didn't need her. It was probably a typical thing among men in the same rank as Sange, but why had Sakura seen so many others that had showed his woman the same respect as they had shown Sange and herself as well.

She couldn't marry him, knowing that she only was accepted when he needed her for his lust or as the timid wife on political party's and worse of all as his very own breeding mare.

She hated this. She hated to be this powerless and the only one who had the power to help her was the man who did not talk to her any more.

And she began to remember why she was in her room and why she had spasm from her uterus. It was all because of him; Hatake Kakashi.

The man that had said almost three months ago that he loved her. What that love was now, she couldn't figure. It had probably gone away with his suddenly way of avoiding her and it began to make her irritated again.

She should have hunted him down the second day he had began to avoid her to get some answers, but the other part of Sakura had wanted to wait and see if he would come around and tell her what had been on his mind. But now a week had already past and Sakura began to see that he wouldn't come to her.

So she would have to come to him then, her irritated and irrational mind told her.

She darted up from her bed (wincing as pain from her pelvis made itself known again) and with determined steps walked towards the door, slammed it open and began her task to find the man who had changed her as well as her life.

。.:*:・'゚。.:*:・'゚。゚'・:*:.。゚'・:*:.。

Sakura had walked up and down the hallway that she knew Kakashi's room was located, at least 10 times by now. Her resolve had cracked as she had stood in front his door. She had felt so stupid when she had stood what most have been for at least 5 minutes, just having a fist in front of the door not even making a move to knock.

He had most likely already noticed her standing outside of his door, if he even was inside of his room that is and he must wondering why she still was in the hallway after 30 minutes of wandering up and down.

As she was about to give up everything and defeated walking back to her room on the other side of the mansion, she heard footstep echoing in the hallway and it came closer and closer to her.

Her old shinobi senses began to kick in and before she knew it she was hiding behind an old piece of tapestry, feeling how her blood was pondering in her ears and her throat began to go dry, she waited for the person to walk away.

The person suddenly stopped at the tapestry and Sakura wished him or her to go away from the hallway. But before she knew it, the tapestry was pulled away and reviled a frowning silver haired man with deep ash green eyes.

"What are you doing here?" he asked coldly and watched as Sakura stepped away from the tapestry, with a faint blush on her cheeks.

"Well, I-I came just to talk to you," Sakura said, still with a blush on her cheeks and the silver haired man raised an eyebrow.

"Then why where you hiding behind the tapestry?" he asked her, the frown returning to his face.

"I- I thought you were someone else," she explained, chewing on her bottom lip. "But it looks like you are busy, so I will leave you for now. See you around."

"Not so fast," he said and pulled her back, so she was forced to stand in front of him. "You came here to talk to me and I'm here now, so talk."

"It's not really important, so it can wait until another time," Sakura said and he gave here that look he always gave her as a genin, forcing her to spill her words. "Fine, you win..."

Nodding satisfied, he began to lean on the rough stone wall with his arms crossed over his chest and making a motion with his hand for her to continue talking.

"It's not much time left until I will give birth you know," she mumbled and he nodded, but she could tell that he didn't know about that. "We haven't even thought of a name yet..."

"So you came all the way down here to ask me about baby names?" he asked, a bit dumbfounded by her words that had apparently been hard to say to him. "Why don't you go and ask your husband to be?"

His words had been a bit cold, he figured, but she seemed to not have noticed it or she hadn't care about it.

"Well, I'm came to you for oblivious reasons," she croaked. "And what I heard from your friend, Sange is not suppose to be involved with 'women' things and that even means naming the child."

He could see that satisfied gleam in her emerald eyes and it was not hard to understand why.

"I want you to decide our child's name, Kakashi," Sakura said firmly and all the silver haired man could do was just to stare at her, even more dumbfounded then before. "That's all I will ask of you and I hope you will comply to my request."

They just stood there what felt like hours, but only five minutes had past, saying noting to each outer and when Sakura began to turn around to walk away, giving up all hope of getting an answer.

"Shiden," he suddenly said.

"Shiden?" Sakura repeated.

"Shiden was the name of my mothers grandfather," Kakashi told her. "He was the only one who would acknowledge me and could approved my parents marriage. He was a great man, but he died a year before my father."

"I'm sorry," Sakura mumbled, not knowing what else to say to him.

"Don't apologize," Kakashi told her. "He was an old man after all."

Nodding in understanding, she turned her head to look back at him.

"Shiden is a great name," she suddenly said and flashed him a bright smile. A smile she knew she hadn't shown him for a long time.

Feeling how his cheeks began to flush slightly pink, he turned his head away from her bright smile, dreading that he would look like a hormonal teen-age boy in front of her.

"But asking me about a name to the baby, was not why your really came for, right?" he suddenly asked, his compose regained.

Seeing how Sakura began to twiddle with the hem of her kimono sleeve, a nervous gesture she always did when it was something else on her mind. He had been right about his statement.

"Wha-What is it that make you believe so?" she asked still twiddling with the hem.

"I have known you since you were a genin, so don't pretend that noting is wrong," he told her firmly. "Spit it out."

"Why-... Why have you been avoiding me?" Sakura asked him, her eyes looking for an answer she didn't know if he could provide and in the same time she didn't want to know the answer.

"I haven't been avoiding you," he said with such calmness that Sakura almost believed that he was speaking the truth.

"Don't lie to me!" she barked, making him jump a bit in surprise. "You haven't talked to me since the engagement party and you have been sitting beside that- That woman!"

"I have been busy with things and I can sit were ever I like," Kakashi said and his eyes hardened. "Even beside that woman."

Sakura's nostrils flared and her eyes began to burn dangerously, it was a typical sign that she was very close to be above normal standard of being angry and everyone who knew Sakura would know when to keep the mouth shut if they wanted to stay among the living.

And this was a time like that.

"So you don't care that she is actually using your arm as a rack for her breast or that she is informing everyone that the two of you are a couple?" Sakura hissed to him. "You don't mind at all?!"

"Sakura, I can't see why that would upset you?" Kakashi coolly said and saw the effect it had on her. "I'm just playing the part as your older brother, being with you the way we were before is-, is wrong. It could hazard everything Konoha has been working towards these last years and-..."

"Don't fucking involve Konoha-shit in this!" Sakura hissed even deeper. "Why are you still here then? You could have left weeks ago, but you didn't. And if you are supposed to play my caring and loving brother you are not doing such a great work right now!"

Sakura watch how Kakashi frustrated pulled a hand through his mess of silver hair and looked down to her with the fake ash-green eyes. She knew that look he gave her right know, he had wore the same look on his face when she had demanded why she couldn't go with Naruto and the others when they went to hunt after Sasuke. She knew now that he was trying to run away from the truth by feeding her lies, but back then she had just been so angry with him that she hadn't notice those small things.

But spending more time with him now then she had done the last 7 years, she had began to see him in a different way and she understood more and more who he really were underneath all those tick layers of goofiness and indifference.

"And don't lie to me," she suddenly said when he was about to open his mouth. "I think I at least deserve to hear the truth."

"Then I have noting to tell you," he finally said and began to turn away from her, but this time it was she who pulled him back, but he didn't turned his head around. "Let me go, Sakura..."

"No! I have been the one to tell you things for most of my life, but now it's time for you to tell me," Sakura said and she could feel how he tensed.

"As I told you, I have noting to tell you," Kakashi said again, but Sakura wouldn't give up that easily. "You wouldn't understand this, Sakura."

"Then explain to me. Don't push me away!" Sakura pleaded.

"I can't explain this to you," he said. "Now, let me go..."

She let him go and saw how he slowly began to walk back to his room.

She began to panic and tried to think of any kind of way to make him stay or at least explain his sudden cold behavior towards her.

"You- You stupid old pervert! Can't you see that I love you!" she suddenly called out to him and watched how he suddenly stopped in his tracks, shoulder tense as he turned around to look at her.

His eyes, cold and indifferent, just the same way they had been when she had told him she was expecting. Expecting his child.

She knew what would come next.

"Time change peoples feelings," he said coldly and Sakura felt how she began to shrink in her shoes. "I thought that all those years of chasing Sasuke had taught you something. I guess I was mistaken..."

~oOo~

"I thought that all those years of casing Sasuke had taught you something. I guess I was mistaken..."

He hadn't meant to be so harsh towards her, but after she had confessed her love to him, he knew that he had to be. He had acted that why for her sake as much as for his own.

He couldn't have her love him, not now when he was supposed to keep his distance from her.

As he watched her hurriedly walking down the hallway in unsheded tears, his heart couldn't do anything else then to clench painfully.

...

He watched as the two of them disappeared out through the shoji and heard how the horde of half-drunken ladies in the center of the room was complaining about the busty blond, daughter to the Lord of the village Tougan and how she could have the nerve to 'abduct' their knew subject.

All he could do was chuckle at this. Emiko had always been the one to do what ever she pleased and her husband hadn't even try to stop that behavior. You could tell who was the 'boss' in that marriage and Kakashi guess it would probably be the same for him and Sakura.

Shaking his head, he tried to forget about that thought. He knew that he couldn't have her and today he was painfully aware of it and yet, he couldn't stop thinking of her. He needed her in his life. He needed his unborn son in his life.

His life would be pointless without them.

As he glanced down to his empty ochoko* he began to muse back to that time Asuma had told him of Kurenai's pregnancy and if Asuma would know about this mess, he would probably laugh in Kakashi's face telling him how wrong Kakashi had been back then.

Kakashi had indeed found a woman who he loved and he knew that she was accepting him, even if she didn't love him and she was carrying his child. A child he never would be able to meet. A child who wouldn't even know who his real father was.

Just like Asuma's son, Aisoku.

And first now, 8 years later, Kakashi finally understood what Asuma had meant by that it would be selfish to have a child.

It was the parents love and will who gave birth to a child and the child could of course say nothing to it. Asuma had died, leaving Kurenai and even Aisoku to moan and it had most of the times been Aisoku who had been most effected by the loss of Asuma.

It was indeed selfish of shinobi's to have children, because you never knew if you would die in the field, leaving the child mother-/fatherless or even both and the child would never be the same again.

Kakashi himself would know, he was one of them. But he had been lucky, he guessed, he had have Minato who had acted like some kind of father figure to him during the time after his fathers death.

That's was probably why he didn't end up more fucked up then he already was.

"Enjoying the party?"

Kakashi jumped slightly and turned his head around to look at the person behind him who had spoken.

It was Ryuusei Sange.

His shinobi sens must have began to get dull after living in this mansion for such a time as he had now, if he didn't even notice Sange's presence.

"Well, I have been to more livelier party's," Kakashi said and began to look back to his empty ochoko, hoping it would refill itself. "But the saké is good, I have to give you credits for that."

"Only the best saké is put on these tables, my friend," Sange said and walked to stand beside of Kakashi, who didn't like the vibes Sange gave him. "Everything and everyone you see here is the best."

The words went like cold shivers down Kakashi's spine and it was now his old shinobi sens began to kick back to life.

"Pretty isn't she?"

"Whom?" Kakashi asked, feeling how his mouth began to get dry.

"Well, my wife to be of course," Sange said, his melodious voice turning slightly sharper. "Some more saké perhaps?"

"No thank you, I think I just have had enough for tonight," Kakashi answered him.

"What a shame. You know, the saké is from Hi no Kuni's best saké makers. I had have them booked in advance just for this occasion," Sange told Kakashi sipping on his new refilled saké, while glancing at the silver haired man beside him. "You are crossing dangerous water, my friend."

"What are you implying?" Kakashi said, glancing back to Sange and both of their eyes met. Ashy-green against dark chocolate.

"I think both of us know what I'm implying here," Sange said with a chuckle and Kakashi's shoulder tensed. "For being her brother that she never have met, she seems awfully attached to you."

"Jealous?" Kakashi said and turned his head at Sange with an impassive face expression, an act to mask the uneasiness he really felt.

"Not the slightest," Sange said with a smirk at Kakashi. "Why should I feel jealousy of a man who are her brother?"

Sange's dark chocolate eyes bored into Kakashi's eyes yet again and this time it felt like he had ripped Kakashi's soul out and Sange's smirk became slightly sterner.

"Or should I maybe say teacher?" Sange suddenly said and Kakashi become rigid, as he still glanced with an impassive look to Sange, who's smirk had return in full-power.

"What are you talking about?" Kakashi said and tried to look and sound confused, but he guess he was not fooling Sange anymore.

"You can drop the act now," Sange told Kakashi. "I know who you are and I'm even surprised that you could fool me as long as you have. But I guess I should send my regards to Konoha, who kindly informed me of your disappearance from Konoha, even thought they were a bit late."

Sange turned his gaze away from Kakashi, who was still looking at Sange with slightly narrow eyes.

"Hatake Kakashi, I could ask the guards to take you down here and now and bring you back to Konoha, but that would just disturb my guests and in the same time I want to congratulate you for 'breaking' into my home," Sange said and Kakashi could see the glint of wickedness in his eyes and Kakashi feared what would come. "I will let you stay until they day before her wedding day, then you will have to leave. I know how much she care about you because I have seen it, so it would pain her more then you, for you to not be there on her big day."

Kakashi clenched his jaw as well as his fists as he glared to Sange, hopping the man in front of him would drop dead if he glared long and hard enough.

Sange turned his gaze back to Kakashi, nodded his head at him and began to walk back towards the middle of the room, but suddenly Sange stopped and turned back to Kakashi who was looking back at Sange.

"And there is one more thing you should know," Sange then told Kakashi and he didn't wait for Kakashi to respond that he was listening. "I would appreciate that you don't mention to her that you are leaving. We don't want to spoil her good mood before her wedding day, do we?"

Nodding his understanding to Sange, Kakashi could only watch as the man in front of him smirked satisfyingly and Kakashi turned around to walk away just to avoid Sange's burning smirk.

"Oh, and just one last thing before we part," Sange said and Kakashi stopped in his tracks. "Due to this new turn of event, it would be best that you stop to associate with Sakura, people could get the wrong idea."

"And if I don't?" Kakashi asked, still facing his back towards Sange and was not aware of Sange's malicious smirk.

"Well, if you really care for little blossom, I suggest that you keep away from her. Otherwise it's not only you who are in trouble," Sange told him and it was with those words that Kakashi turned his head around to look at Sange who yet again nodded his head at Kakashi. "Have a nice evening, Hatake-san."

.

Scratching his head, Kakashi looked down to his back-pack, mentally ticking off the things that he needed to bring with him, that was now security packed in his back-pack.

He had been foolish, he guessed. To enter Sange's mansion like he had and even for not taking Konoha in account.

But it could have been worse. He could have been send back to Konoha to a certain death by the hand of Sange and Kakashi was not so sure if Naruto could help him out of that faith.

Sighting, Kakashi believed that that faith would be far much better then to be parted from Sakura and her unborn son. Their son.

He had bleed, fought, killed and even shed tears for her. But now everything up until now seemed pointless and all he felt now was exhaustion.

He didn't care what would happen to him anymore. If the ANBU would find him, they could gladly take his life, he just wanted to find peace in this chaotic life he had been living.

The only thing he really wished for was that Sakura would find happiness and that their son would grow up to be a better man then Kakashi himself.

Putting his hands together, he formed the hand seals;

Boar- Dog- Bird- Monkey- Ram.

"Kuchiyose No Justsu!"

A poof and a slightly big smoke cloud emerged at the place Kakashi had put his hand to and he watched as a ash-brown dog with white markings around his nose, eyes, legs and stomach appeared out of the smoke cloud.

"It's unusual of you to summon me, Kakashi," the dog said with a deep growling voice.

"Well, I have a small mission for you, Urushi," Kakashi said to the dog and took out of his pocket a small paper note.

The dog, Urushi looked to the paper in his masters hand with a raised eyebrow.

"You know that if you want to deliver this, you should ask Pakkun or Uhei," Urushi said and looked up to Kakashi. "Running fast has never been my strong point."

"Well, Pakkun are on another mission and even if Uhei is more suited for delivery's, I'm not asking you to run very far or fast." Kakashi told Urushi who tilted his head showing his master that he was listening. "I want you to stay here in this mansion and watch over Sakura as long as you can."

"That noisy female?" Urushi asked and Kakashi raised an eyebrow at the dog. "Can't she take care of herself?"

"I hear that Pakkun haven't told the rest of you guy's," Kakashi mumbled and the dog sharpened his ears.

"Told us what?"

"That Sakura is expecting."

"She is?! Is she having your pup then?" Urushi asked and putted his front paws on Kakashi's knees, tail wagging slightly.

"She is," Kakashi said and was a bit surprised by the sudden change of the usually huffy dog in front of him. "That's why I want you stay by her side and protect her as well as our child, but stay in the shadows, no one can know that you are here."

Kakashi putted down Urushi's paws to the floor and began to strip off all of those things that could tell that the dog was one of his.

"It's for the best," Kakashi mumbled and pulled out of his pocket an old slightly torn red bandanna and wrapped it around Urushi's neck. "This note, I want you to give it to Sakura the day after her wedding."

Kakashi tuck the note in the bandanna and made sure that the note would stay put until the time come for her to see it.

"Everything she needs to know is written in that note and you have to make sure she will not try to pursue me after she have read it, no matter what," Kakashi told Urushi firmly, who nodded while following his master out of the room.

"I will try my best, Kakashi," Urushi said with his growling voice and disappeared down the dark hallway and was then out of sight.

Kakashi waited until the clatter from Urushi's claw's against the cold stone floor couldn't be heard anymore and then he also began to move down the hallway.

The hallway was as empty as always and he began to understand why he had been placed in this part of the mansion. The part that was furthest away from Sakura and if Kakashi didn't recall wrong it was also closest to Sange himself.

Sange had never trusted him from the beginning and it was pretty clear by the way he had placed him in that room and how the butler (even if he had failed terrible at it) had followed him and Sakura behind in the shadows, watching every move.

Kakashi had been lucky that the butler hadn't been around all of the time he had been with Sakura, if the butler had, Kakashi wouldn't have done some of the things he had done with her. Like hugging her a bit too intimately to be just her brother or kissing her passionately by the bay-window.

A slight tremble went up his spine as he thought back to how Sakura's emerald eyes had gone one shade darker as they had kissed and the faint smell of arousal he had felt from her, that had made his head clouded and it still did.

Closing his eyes he tired to forcefully remove the thoughts of her, but he found it impossible.

Her smiling image was still burned into his mind and soul and suddenly he couldn't breath. He leaned onto the rough stone wall, a fist clutched against the cold wall and he began to curse himself for being such a coward.

Yamato had been right all along.

Kakashi had hurt Sakura in more ways then it was possible and as the coward he was, he didn't even try to change it. And when he actually had tried to change, she was ripped away from him, like everyone else he ever had cared for.

That's why he didn't want to change, because it would hurt.

He should have understood it from the moment he laid his eyes on her, from the moment he marked her as someone he cared deeply for, someone he began to love a little bit every dag, that this would happen. Because he was cursed.

Cursed to live a life in pain and solitude.

As he stood there, leaning on the wall while feeling how depression began to take over his mind, he suddenly began to hear voices coming from one of the rooms that was closes to him.

Masking his chakra, he leaned closer to the room, listening to every word that was spoken behind the half-closed door.

The more he listened, the more he clenched his fist, not even taking notice that his nails was digging into his palm, drawing blood from it.

Deciding that he had heard enough, he pulled away from the wall and continued his journey down the hall and out of the mansion, his jaw clenched all the way.
