Chapter 13

"Come to bed", Zuko asked Katara from where he laid in bed. Katara was standing at their bedroom window, chewing on her thumbnail.

"I can't sleep", she shook her head," I know spending time trying to will be wasted."

"You need your sleep for tomorrow", he tried," We have a long way to go. You'll need your rest."

"I'm scared", she turned to him, tears in her eyes," I don't think we're ready."

He swiftly got up out of bed and reached his wife in seconds," You have to stay strong. You cannot show my father this week side of you. He will hold onto it and kill you."

"What about our families? Our friends? Haku?" she looked away from him, but he brought her chin back to face him.

"Everyone is going to be okay", he smiled softly at her," Because we have something they don't have."

She let her tears fall down freely," What?" She choked out.

"We have love", he hugged," And we're good. I promise, everyone will be okay. Now come to bed with me please."

She smiled at him and let her lead to them to bed. She laid down against his chest and sighed. She knew there was logic to his words but she couldn't shake the feeling that something horrible was going to happen tomorrow. And it wasn't losing necessarily. She felt that even if the won, something terrible was going to happen.

Katara looked at her friends and family with hopeful sadness the next morning as they packed up to leave their safe haven. Sokka and Zuko were packing up Appa while Toph and Aang were gearing up for battle. She looked past them at Azula and Haku sitting in the grass talking about something that looked very important to Haku. She smiled at herself and felt the tears come back again. Heavens forbid if he lost everyone he loves. She worried about her sons future. If he would still have his family after this and if the world would be safe for him to be who he is.

She watched Zuko head over to hear, geared up.

"We're ready", he hugged her and kissed the side of her head.

"I don't want to leave him", she cried.

"Me either", Zuko had tears brimming his eyes," But we have to. It's time to say goodbye."

Katara breathed deeply and wiped away her tears. She didn't want her son to see them upset and make him worry.

"Haku! Come here please", she smiled him. She smiled sadly at the young boy was ran with such enthusiasm towards his parents. No sign of worry on his face.

"Mommy!" he wrapped his arms around her legs. Zuko bent over and picked up his son in his arms who proceeded to hug him.

"Haku..." Zuko began," Mommy and I need to leave with everyone now."

"I know", he nodded slowly," I hope you beat the bad guy."

"We will", Katara smiled at him," Grandpa is almost here to stay with you."

"Grandpa!" he squeled with excitement," I've missed him."

"I've missed you too", they heard behind them and Haku wiggled out of Zuko's arms to give his grandfather a hug.

Hakoda smiled at Haku who ran into his open arms," Look how big you've gotten! You're almost my height."

"Hi dad", Katara smiled at him and went in for a hug. He hugged her tightly in return.

"Dad!" Sokka called out and ran over, also hugging him.

"There isn't a father in this world who is prouder of his kids than I am", Hakoda told them. He let go of the group and smiled down at his kids. Aang and Toph joined the group, while Azula hanged behind them.

"The world will forever be in your debt", he told them and glanced towards the back," Even you Azula."

Katara turned and saw Azula give the smallest of smiles, but she kept it to herself.

"We'll see you soon Haku", Katara put on her best brave face and hugged her son," Be good for your grandfather please. Don't give him a hard time."

"I won't", Haku shook his head," I love you."

"I love you too", she smiled," Give daddy a hug."

Zuko kneeled down and hugged his son as well," Be an awesome boy and we'll bring you back something."

"What?" Haku asked with excitement.

"It's a surprise", Zuko smiled at him," I love you little man."

"I love you too, daddy", Haku hugged his father," Be back soon."

They all said their goodbyes, Azula lingering on her hug with Haku longer than the others.

I know it is an extremely short chapter, but it's something. I hope you all enjoyed and look forward to what comes. Review and love it!

Edit: Sorry for those who clicked on the story and read a chapter about Dramione. I just did a chapter 13 for that story as well and got the two chapters confused while uploading. Thank you Mesip and ML7 for the messages. Again, sorry everyone.
