Chapter 15
"Hello son and daughter."
The four of them turned and saw Ozai standing before them. Katara and Zuko could only stare at the man standing before them. He looked vastly different than he used to. His eyes were sunken in and had a certain madness to them that could only be seen to believe. He had more muscle to him now that was clearly evident from him not wearing a shirt.
"Father", Azula was the first to talk," You look... Terrible."
Katara couldn't help but smirk at Azula always being blunt.
"I can see being in prison hasn't taught you any manners", he snarled at her.
"I blame it on poor upbringing", Azula retorted.
"The banished prince", Ozai turned his attention to Zuko.
"I am not banished any longer", Zuko stood up to his father," We are going to stop you and I will take back the Fire Nation with Azula."
"You two will never have this kingdom!" Ozai yelled at them and Katara flinched a little.
"You!" Ozai stared at Katara," You are the one that caused all of this!"
"Me?" Katara looked at him baffled," How did I start this war?"
"Not that war you dumb child", Ozai spat at her," You turned my children against me. Zuko and you were supposed to be the head of this nation and you turned your backs to it!"
"That's enough!" Aang yelled at everyone," He's stalling for time by talking! We only have so much time before the comet is here and we won't be able to stop him!"
"Aang's right", Azula nodded," We have to stop him now."
"You are all nothing but useless children", Ozai smiled at them," You won't ever be able to stop me."
Two earthbenders came into the room and trapped Katara and Zuko in cages.
"Aang, let us out!" Katara yelled at him, grabbing the rock bars. Aang was about to get them out when Ozai shot a fireball at him. Azula ran towards them, but the earthbenders stopped her. She dodged their rock walls and moving the ground around her. She flew up and kicked one in the head knocking him down. She was about to stand up when a rock came at her pushing her across the room.
"Katara, Katara!" Zuko yelled at her and she took her eyes off of Azula and looked at Zuko.
"Use your bloodbending", Zuko yelled at her," Have the earthbender take down these traps."
"I don't know if I can do that", she shook her head," I've never done it to have people bend..."
"Katara, you know you only can do it when the full moon is out, now is the time", Zuko told her," You need to see our son again. You need to help Aang. Just try."
She nodded and exhaled slowly, raising her hands. She motioned towards the earthbender and felt the power running through her veins. She hated doing this. It made her feel like she was invading into someone else's soul. No one should have this much power over another person, but she didn't have a choice right now. She looked over and could see Aang and Ozai battling it out and on the other side of the room Azula was just now getting up. She turned the bender towards her and had him walk towards them. She raised her hands and lowered them, the earthbender mirroring her actions. As soon as she finished the motion the cage came down and she was finally free. She repeated for Zuko and freed him as well.
"Go to Azula", Zuko nodded to her," I have him."
Katara let go of the bender's body and ran to Azula.
"Azula?" she bent down to tend to her. Azula was hunched over clenching her shoulder.
" I think it's dislocated", she grimaced," I can't bend without the use of my arm."
Katara took water out of her bottle around her waist and placed it around her hand. She placed her hand against Azula's shoulder and it glowed. She put the water back into it and smiled at Azula.
"How's that?"
"Better", Azula nodded," Now let's go help Aang!"
The two took off running towards Aang who wasn't holding up that well against the Firelord.
"Give up! You're just a child!" Ozai yelled at him and kicked him across the room. Azula ran at them and shot lightening out of her finges. Ozai staggered backwards and regained his footing. Azula was about to hit him again the chest, but Zuko yelled out to her.
"Don't kill him! Aang has to be the one to finish him!"
"I can't kill him!" Aang yelled. Zuko and Katara looked at each other and then back at him.
"You have to!" Katara yelled and slashed water at Ozai, keeping him away from Aang.
"It's your duty to the world!" Azula spoke up.
"I can't kill a living thing", Aang told them," It's against the vows I have made."
"You have to do something!" Katara yelled," I can't keep this up forever!"
Ozai's patience for Katara's waterbending was running out and he was getting more mad by the second.
"Azula, help me!" Azula stepped him and started to battle her father. Zuko was still busy trying to ward off the earthbender that entrapped them earlier. Katara ran up to Aang who was struggling with what to do.
"Aang, you have to do something", Katara frowned at him," I know it's against what you stand for, but it's for the greater good. If you don't kill him, he will kill everyone."
Aang sighed and nodded," I know what I have to do, but I need your help with it."
"You are a disgrace to our family name", Ozai grunted at Azula as they continued to fight," You could have been great!"
"I already am great!" Azula fought back harder," I don't need you to make me great. I'm great all on my own!"
"You will always be nothing! You and your brother are the Fire Nation's biggest disappointments!" Ozai shouted at his daughter and she momentarily paused, his words seeping in.
"Katara, now!" Aang yelled and Ozai felt his body go limp.
"Not this..." Ozai grunted, trying to control his body, but Katara had control of him. She pulled him back and Aang placed his thumb and finger against Ozai's chest and forehead. They began to glow and even the earthbender stopped to look at them.
"What's happening?" Zuko yelled out. Katara couldn't answer though, trying to focus on holding onto Ozai. Katara closed her eyes and turned away from them, the glow becoming bright and hot to be near. Katara watched as Aang was losing control of it, Ozai's power overcoming Aang.
"Aang, you have to stay strong!" Katara yelled at him," The world needs you! I need you! You can't let him control you!"
"Aang, you have to be able to do this!" Azula shouted at him," Don't stop. You can do this!"
Aang's power finally overcame Ozai and bright blue shined in the throne room, blinding them all. Katara shielded her eyes and fell backwards, but as soon as it was there, it was gone and both Ozai and Aang fell to the ground.
Zuko ran over to Katara and helped her off the ground," What was that?"
"What's wrong with me?" Ozai slowly sat up and tried to shoot fire out of his hands, but nothing came out.
"I took your firebending away", Aang stood up. Katara smiled, while Zuko and Azula looked at him with awe.
"You can do that?" Zuko gasped.
"That can't be possible..." Azula shook her head.
"You will never be able to harm another person ever again", Aang looked at Ozai," You will serve the remainder of your days in prison, not to be seen by any of your children or family ever again."
So there it is! One chapter left!
