Chapter 19, What happened?

Silhouette: I don't know if anyone reads these, but if you do, thank you! Also thank you for keeping with us this long. I know it's been awhile since I've posted something and I apologize for that, I'll try to get better at updating sooner, but I'm not sure what That's going to look like since... well.. all the chapters that I've written in advance are.. gone. I don't know what happened to them, but I'm rewriting them, and I'll try to have them up as soon as I can, but I'm not sure if I can remember everything I wrote.. sorry.

[Eggman's Lair]
"What do they have to do with your plan?" Dr. Eggman said his voice trailing in confusion as he saw an entire Chao garden in his lair.
The Asgardian grasped his spear gesturing with it towards the Chao around him and the room.
"I am in understanding that your world bends to this power of Chaos that it possesses and when wielded the user has power over almost reality itself, and these creatures possess that power within themselves. Granted it is not very much considering how small they are." Loki explained.
When Loki came close enough to Dr. Eggman the Doctor swung his hand behind him hitting a button on the wall the room filled with several of egg-pawns surrounding the Chao into a group around Cream and Cheese. "You brought them here for their chaos energy? Why not just use the Chaos Emeralds?" Eggman asked in frustration.
Staring at him for a few seconds before shifting his glare at the blue hedgehog robot now standing by Orb-bot and Cube-bot. "The what?" Loki asked
A chilling chuckle filled the room as Eggman crossed the room "I'll admit: this isn't an angle I would have thought of but it's perfect. Especially since that spiky pest has all of the Chaos Emeralds. We just need to be very precise with this." He said typing a few commands into a key pad. A few seconds later a mech came into the room. Eggman jumped in the mech pushing the robot that brought it in the room out. Firing a laser at all the Chao they tried their best to evade the laser but it was no use as they were hit and seemed to vaporize the Chao in thin air.
Cream pleated for him to stop but her screams went unheard and by the end she leaned over in her chair covering Cheese the Chao with herself pulling her legs towards her chest attempting to hold onto him as best she could with out her hands. Her skirt was now wet with her tears for the Chao she believed were gone.
"Surely you recognize this machine, Cream." Dr Eggman said as he approached the sobbing bunny.
"Go away." She whimpered through her tears.

[Angel Island, Knuckles' house]
Coming into the newly built house, Sonic and Tails carried arm loads of groceries that they had just gotten from the store.
"This should be enough. For the three of them, right? Also I have no idea what little Rutan can eat yet." Sonic said as he placed the bags on any counter space he could find as they were both putting the last of three loads in the kitchen.
Smiling, Tails started unloading the bags into the cabinets. "It will probably be more than enough considering Julie-Su didn't ask to over stock her kitchen just yet. And Rutan belongs to Lien-Da not Knuckles." Tails replied, checking over his shoulder, making sure Sonic was helping him unload the bags, to find him wadding up all the paper bags that formerly held the all the groceries that are now all on the countertop in no specific order.
"Yeah, I know, but if Lien-Da needed her sister's help with her baby and they came over I wanted to make sure they had something that the baby could eat." Sonic said as he tosses the paper bags in the trash can across the room one at a time.
Stopping for a moment, as he watched his best friend play basket ball with the trash while he spoke Tails couldn't help but sense that Sonic wasn't just thinking of baby Rutan. "Sonic, are... are you becoming a father any time soon?"
"No." Sonic said quickly. "No. No. No. Sally's not expecting, and neither am I. Not that we don't want any it's just... not yet."
"Okay." Tails said in a chuckle. "I get it."

"SONIC!" Amy yelled as she bust through the door of Knuckle's new home, panting heavily, exhausted from running.
Hearing some noises in the other room She gasped a few breaths of air before running that way into what was the Kitchen, finding Sonic at the door to the kitchen as if was coming into the living room to see who was calling him, but got caught off guard when they both were trying to turn the corner at the same time.
"Amy?" Sonic said, surprised to see her so soon.
"It's Cream!" Amy told him as she recovered from the collision by jumping to her feet again.
An amused smile came over Sonic's face "Funny. You look like Amy to me." He said
"What? No. She's been kidnapped by Metal Sonic!" She told him gesturing in the rough direction of Cream's home. "Vanilla called the Chaotix to get her back, but I just have this feeling that Eggman's planning something even worse than he's done before, and I want..."
"You mean Snivley's replacement?" Sonic said remembering seeing Loki in Eggman's lair when he last fought him to get the Chaos Emeralds back. Waving his hand to further show that he wasn't worried about the situation. "He's not that big of a threat. He didn't even know I can go super. I doubt he even knows what a Chaos Emerald is."
Tails chuckled at the thought of someone not knowing what the Chaos Emeralds are after everything this world has experienced. "Unless this guy has lived under a rock it's safe to assume he knows what a Chaos Emerald is, or has at least heard of it, but what one does is another lesson entirely." He said.
Rolling his eyes as Tails said what he thought to be obvious "yeah, yeah, but I have all seven of them, if egghead wanted to pull a triumph card from his toupee he wouldn't have enough fire power to make it as destructive as it needs to be to bring down Super Sonic. But since I'm never one to run away from adventure I'll catch up with you guys later! Thanks Ames!" Sonic said finishing with yelling the last sentence as he ran out the door.

[forrest]
The wind flowing through the forest felt like a nice touch to the adventure Sonic felt he was running into. The leaves and trees blurring past him mixed with the adrenaline rush that he loved so much psyched him up to find out what was really going on with that new guy in Eggman's lair, and what he intended to do with Cream. Was he just planning to use her for bait like Eggman did last time, or did he have something else in mind for her- His thoughts sped in a few different directions as he hit seemingly nothing but he could feel it was there as it and him tumbled a few feet, before Sonic dug his feet into the ground when he got a good grip on whatever it was thinking it was an invisible Eggman badnik.
"WAIT!" Sonic heard a familiar voice shout from the direction he just came. Looking up he saw Vector, Charmey, and Mighty who was running faster towards him with his hand up gesturing for him to stop.
Looking down at the invisible thing he just ran into that he now has a death grip on something sharp, Sonic chuckled embarrassed as he let go of the horn. "Oops. Sorry, Espio. I didn't knock you out, did I?"
Not really sure what he was doing, but it sounded like he was standing up. "If I were unconscious, I would be visible." Espio responded. "since we're in enemy territory right now it's best to keep the element of surprise."
"Got ya." Sonic said with a thumbs up "tell ya what, I'll help ya get Cream back by keeping Egg-head off your back. We'll draw his fire outside while Espio goes in to get Cream, and I'll handle Eggman directly."
"Sounds good to me!" Charmy said doing a thumbs up as well. Vector agreed too.
"alright then, Let's do it, to it!" Sonic said speeding off towards the base. it did not take very long for them to reach the base, and when they did they were met with heavy attacks.
"It's like you knew we were coming!" Sonic shouted mockingly at a robot before spin dashing it into scrap metal.
Vector jumped out smashing the robots as well with Mighty and Charmy behind him.
the heat of the battle grew strong especially around Sonic, as he spun at high speeds with his spines flexed, shredding the smaller robots with ease.
Bouncing off several of the flying titanium bee bots, Sonic angled himself on top of one of the bigger robots' cockpit, blasts still coming at him from several of the other robots, he jumped curling into a spin attack to shred the shrapnel that comes from the explosion, as the blasts hit the bigger robot causing a bigger explosion that he used to launch himself up into the window that looked like one of the eyes on the building that had Eggman's face built on it.
A quick glance at his surroundings determined his next move. he spotted the elevator and the door to the hall or another room. but he took neither as his eyes caught sight of the man standing next to the window he just busted through. "Out of all the windows on this building you had to pick that one?"Sonic mocked as the faint outline of the man became more distinct and he realized that this was not Eggman.
"I must admit: I truly did not expect you to infiltrate this sanctum from the third floor." the man responded in an unforgettable accent that Sonic instantly recognized from his last encounter here.
Loki stepped into the light where they now saw each other as they were. Sonic stood, casually laying his hand on his hip with a smugness about him that made Loki chuckle in amusement at how intimidated Eggman is with this little creature.
"I guess that Egg-head didn't tell you that I like to impress! I'm Sonic." He said,
"I am Loki, of Asguard. He did not mention much of what you are like, Just how much you annoy him."
"I'm not From anywhere in particular, ...yet."Sonic said remembering the training he is doing before he can have the coronation Sally wants. "But I know where you're going." Sonic said refocusing on the adventure in front of him. Dashing to the side as to avoid any attack that he did not, but could have pulled, shrugging it off Sonic aimed and dashed towards him. Ricocheting off the wall in a spin dash. Loki deflected the spiky ball with his spear that he was hiding behind his back. placing his hand on the floor as he emerged out of his spin dash, Sonic skidded across the floor a little ways while he gained as much traction as he could by bending over and digging his feet into the ground. looking up with a simi-impressed smile. curling into a ball at high speeds again he angled himself at a spring he spotted near the elevator and uncurled jumping directly on the spring with as much force as he needed. launching himself into the air above Loki. Seconds before curling into another Spin attack Loki lifted his spear touching it to Sonic's chest as he made it to the other side of the Asgardian Sonic's body hit the ground, appearing life-less for a second as the doors to the Elevator opened and Dr Eggman came rushing out of it yelling "WHERE IS THAT HEDGEHOG!"
Loki turned calmly, observing the Doctor's surprised expression as he briefly believed Sonic to be dead.
Sonic stood looking at Loki with a dazed blank expression his eyes now a shade of electric blue. "Give me the Chaos Emeralds." Loki demanded as Eggman complained about how he believed he was being lied to, but his words fell silent as he watched Sonic walk over to the Asgardian and handing him all seven of the Chaos Emeralds. "Incredible, are they not."
"Very." Sonic said with very little emotion as his eyes shifted from handing them over to Loki himself. Dr. Eggman looked at Sonic, then at Loki, then back at Sonic. "I don't know what you did, but You did it!" He exclaimed in excitement noticing that Sonic is now his mindless minion to do with as he wishes. "HO HO HO This is perfect!" the Doctor said strutting proudly across the room. he wrapped his arm around Sonic's shoulders as he lead the blue hedgehog to the window.
"Shall I make sure that these are ready for you to use in your new machine?" Loki asked lifting his hands full in a gesture to the seven Chaos Emeralds in them.
waving his hand passively "yes, yes, that's fine." Dr Eggman mumbled pleased. "What do you see out there, Sonic?" He asked with a certain evil charm to his voice. Not entirely sure how this mind control worked Eggman mimicked the way Loki spoke to Sonic before to for reassurance that he would do what he wanted.
looking at all the robots swarming around his friends Sonic stood there. He knew he wanted to help them, but he felt stuck. not just stuck as he couldn't move, but more of a stuck as a resistance of his morals. He knew they could handle themselves and that's the reasoning he stuck to for the excuse to not go help them.
"It's horrible that we have to fight like this. All your friends and yourself against my hard work to make this world a better place for everyone." Dr Eggman said deceivingly upset for Sonic and his freedom Fighters. "but that's just how things are I guess."
running his hand down the back of Sonic's relaxed spines Eggman smiled contently as he felt a change in Sonic's breathing. it felt calm and shaky, and with that he knew he won this round, but it is all to reassuring for him when he heard Sonic ask "How can I help ensure that peace?"

[Angel Island]
pacing back and forth in the living room in front of the phone, Amy kept glancing to the phone or the door to see which one would be answered first.
"If you're so worried about it why don't you go help him?" Tails suggested after a few seconds of watching her.
sighing in frustration she gestured to the phone "For the fastest thing alive he sure is taking his dear sweet time in rescuing Cream. You don't think anything happened do you?" Amy started saying as if she were mad at him, but her voice broke out in a worried tone. she froze in her tracks. facing the two tailed fox standing in the door way with an obvious look of concern on her face.
Smiling calmly at Amy hoping that it may calm her down "Come on now. This IS Sonic we're talking about. I'm sure he is going to win. he always does."
Sighing with concern Amy glanced around the room in attempts to collect her thoughts "You're right. But will you make sure of it? I… Need another opinion on the matter besides Sonic's."
"Boy, I hope you don't stay mad at Sonic forever. I don't think Mobius is ready for that Amy." Tails mumbled as he started heading for the door.
"WHAT'S THAT SUPPOSE TO MEAN?!" Amy yelled furiously as Tails scrambled across her path as fast as he could with an amused laugh. "THAT'S NOT FUNNY, TAILS!" she continued. reaching her hand aside about to summon her piko-piko hammer Knuckles ran down the stairs into the living room in a panic. "Uh… Amy, can you keep an eye on the Master Emerald for me? I'll be right back." Knuckles said shutting the door behind him.
"Sure." Amy answered in confusion
Tails shrugged and headed out the door as well.

[Echidnopolis]
"Jule-Su!" Knuckles called running through a village that had a majority of the Echidnas left in it. Unlike when he arrived last time the streets of the village is filled with people running from something. Determined as Knuckles is he runs against the crowd of frightened Echidnas, he isn't scared of whatever it is, ad if it wanted to eliminate the rest of is kind it was going to go through him first. also he wants to make sure his wife is not caught up in the cross fire of whatever is going on.
"Knuckles!" a voice called from inside a mud brick house he just passed. Suddenly stopping upon hearing the voice Knuckles darted into the house. A brief glance around and all Knuckles found is the remains of his great-great-grandfather in-law inside of a hover bubble. using the cybernetics in his dreadlocks spines to stand next to a cradle. "Dimitri." Knuckles called him upon entering the room. he turned towards Knuckles, seeing the utter panic outside, he found it useless to hide his concern for his people. "Knuckles, Lien-da left with the dark legion hours ago when we learned that the Roboticizer was rebuilt. I fear that their mission has turned south and that this is all a result of the new robotized Dark legion." Demitri explained.
suddenly the house across from the one they were in blew off in an explosion. turning with fists raised ready to fight Knuckles watched as several Echidnas were dragged out of the house and shot with some kind of laser that transformed them into robots almost instantaneously. as the baby burst into tears behind him he felt a metal claw grab his arm. jerking his head to see who it was. he found it is the claws on the end of Demitri's Dreadlocks. "I have a plan, but I can't leave Rutan here alone, and were they're at right now it won't be long before he is robotized too. you had to get him out of here."
"Me? I'm the Guardian. You get the baby out of here." Knuckles argued. attempting to leave to fight he did not realize that Dimitri has that strong of a grip on his arm. thus rendering him not able to leave just yet. "And it is because you are a guardian that I ask you to get your nephew to safety while I hold them off until you return for the rest." Dimitri urged
Jerking his arm out of his grasp "Look if that Laser hits you, you'll explode! I-" Knuckles continued to argue when DImitri cut him off "the LAST thing this tribe needs is their Guardian robotized with them and NO hope of ever returning back to normal!" gasping Dimitri crouched to the floor, grabbing and pulling Knuckles with him as a laser came in flying in over their heads just missing them and the cradle where the baby lay crying.
rolling towards the door, and ducking down behind the window Knuckles listened for the sound of their foot steps entering the room since anything near the door is impossible to see with all the dirt clouding the view. "Knock Knock." Knuckles said as he jumped up behind the two robotized Echidnas entering the room. The robot closest to him turned on the instant of hearing his voice, and fired a laser aimed at his head. smashing the weapon as it simultaneously struck him him his right eye. Knuckles fell backwards collapsing onto the floor for a few seconds as he suppressed the feeling of his eye being replaced with cybernetics.
Reaching his dreadlocks into a nearby computer Dimitri activated several defenses to the safe house he and Lien-Da built. a net dropped from the ceiling over the two Robians. charged with electrical impulses the net kept them immobilized as Knuckles managed back to his feet his right eye now with cybernetic enhancements.
"Get him out of here!" Dimitri demanded making his way completely over to the computer.
touching the cold steel of his right eye Knuckles looked over at baby Rutan. Rushing over to the cradle he picked up the baby. turning to leave with him he glanced at the Robians and recognizing who that they were in fact Julie-Su and Lien-Da. clutching Rutan even tighter now he dashed out of the house and out of the city as fast as he possibly could.
