I really struggled to write this entire fic. Thinking taking the characters out of their usual context made it much more difficult. Anyway this is the final chapter.

If she hadn't have extended her leave she would have been back home and back to work at Holby a few days ago. She can't help but wonder how things are going there and if Darwin is running as smoothly in her absence.

She'd put Emma down for a nap later than usual. They had taken a drive up to Monaco to visit the Oceanographic Museum which was basically an aquarium, a large one, set over two floors. It had taken them hours to walk around all the exhibits and they had to visit every single one as Emma hadn't wanted to miss a single thing. They'd had lunch on the roof at the restaurant and Emma had played in the small playground with a few other children while she'd made small talk with their parents. The view from the roof had been stunning too and they'd stood there for quite some time pointing out various objects in the distance. They'd both been physically exhausted by the time they left. Emma still over excited had chatted non-stop the entire car journey home. She'd brought her some small items from the Aquarium shop to keep as a reminder, and on the way out she'd even managed to stroke a small shark in an open air tank. They'd had a really great day. Emma was now curled up in her bedroom fast asleep with the stuffed stingray cuddled up next to her.

She'd settled down on the sofa to finally start working on the application for Leneval Hospital. Every time she'd tried something had been niggling away at her. She wasn't sure if her hesitation was due to the fact that this was such a massive decision, letting go of Holby, or whether it was all about Fletch. She'd not been able to stop thinking about him every single time she'd picked up the form. In order to prevent the thoughts she'd been putting it off ever since. This time she was determined to at least fill in some of it. She thinks she might be just a little bit in love with him. She groans. The last month had certainly helped her move on a bit but the thought of filling out the form and never seeing him again had been a bit too much. It had an air of finality to it that she wasn't sure she was ready to face either in regards to Holby or Fletch.

She had been totally serious when she'd asked him to go away with her, but alas he had to many balls to juggle, with work, the kids and money. She does wonder if he knew she was serious or whether he thought she was just musing out loud. She picks up the pen and the form and starts filling in the details. She stops about half way through, pleased she's finally making progress so decides to reward her efforts with a cup of tea. She figures the ability to start filling in the form clearly means she must be making progress with moving on. She places the forms on the coffee table and heads to the kitchen.

She flicks on the kettle. The door bell rings. She rushes to open it hoping the noise hadn't disturbed Emma from her nap. She'd not long ago fallen asleep and she knows she'll be cranky if she doesn't get at least two hours uninterrupted.

"What are you doing?" He asks her his tone masking the anger she sees in his eyes.

Her eyes widen at the sight of him. She can't talk. Her mouth is hanging open slightly in shock. She doesn't know how he'd found her or what he was doing here.

"Jac." He clearly wants an answer.

She shakes her head trying to clear the overwhelming emotions that are shooting through her like lightening. She'd thought the last four weeks had given her some distance, she thought she'd moved on a bit but she recognizes now just upon seeing him that she is exactly back where she started. She'd just been lying to herself, she hadn't moved on at all. One glimpse of him and all her efforts to move on had been wiped out in a single flash. Her heart is racing.

She moves back to let him in. She knows she's stalling, trying to give herself some time to think.

He moves into the room and she closes the door. She watches him eye the half completed hospital application form on the coffee table in front of him. His body visibly slumps a bit.

"What are you doing here? She asks him. "How did you find me?" She continues incredulous. She cannot believe he is here, that he'd flown out here to find her.

He doesn't answer her instead he asks his earlier question again.

"Jac, what are you doing?" He sighs loudly then continues. "When you didn't come back I went and saw Serena, she said you'd asked for more time off? She said you seemed unsure, if you were coming back at all?."

She sighs and looks away from him. "Sacha." She says suddenly realizing he was the only person she'd told where she was staying.

"Are you really going to just leave everything behind?" He asks her. Shock and disappointment is laced through his voice.

"Everything?...You mean Holby? Well, I can work pretty much anywhere, so why not here or anywhere else for that matter?" She asks him.

"What about Petrenko? She's expecting you to come back to train her?"

She feels guilty. She had promised to train Petrenko. She looks away from him hoping he hadn't seen the guilt in her eyes.

"What about me?" He asks her. His voice is unsure and suddenly much lower almost a whisper.

"What about you?" She almost snaps at him.

"Okay. Okay. I get it. I just want you to be happy, and if being here is going to do that for you then I'm all for it. If leaving Holby is what you want then okay" He tells her. He looks away from her. She thinks he looks like he regrets coming here at all.

He moves towards her quickly grabs her wrist with one hand, his other hand lands gently on the side of her face, and he uses it to tip her face up slightly. He moves slowly towards her and kisses her softly but lingeringly on the cheek. He pulls back a bit, let's his hand drop from her face but doesn't move away. Her heart is threatening to jump right out of her chest.

"Guess this is goodbye then." He tells her in a whisper.

He looks upset and she feels tears forming in her eyes. She suddenly finds herself gripping the top of his arm. Her breath hitches as soon as she touches him. It was loud enough she's certain he'd heard it. She doesn't want to let him leave like this. She moves forward and rests her forehead against the side of his face, the contact makes her release a long breath. Her hand moves to the other side of his face and she applies a small amount of pressure to encourage him to turn his face towards her. He does. She wants to kiss him at least once. She just wants to know what it would feel like. Her eyes are on his lips and she moves slowly towards him.

"Don't.." he says suddenly, pulling back a bit. His hands grip her shoulders, he squeezes her gently to keep some distance between them.

She freezes, lets her hand drop from his face and her eyes close. She wants to pull away and let him leave but he is gripping her tightly.

"Don't make this harder." He whispers.

She can't look at him. She focuses her gaze away from him towards the door. She feels his grip loosen on her shoulders and she assumes he is going to pull away, but he doesn't seem able to let her go.

"I should go." He tells her. She feels him move a bit closer to her though instead of away.

"Mm hmm." She mumbles.

She's waiting for him to step back but it doesn't happen, instead she feels his hands start to move gently over her shoulders and down her arms. He lets out an exasperated sigh. The noise causes her to move her eyes back to his. She can see he doesn't want to leave. Can clearly see want in his eyes. He came all this way for her.

"Fletch…" she starts. "Oh for gods sake." She moves quickly this time, not giving him the chance to stop her, her lips find his and she kisses him gently. She uses her mouth softly to encourage him to respond. Her hand returns to the side of his face to pull him a bit closer. He takes a few seconds to get over the shock then she feels him start to kiss her back. A tsunami of emotions crashes into her then and she can't help but put every single wave into kissing him. She's missed him. A lot.

Her arms wrap around his neck and she can feel his arms surround her waist, pulling her flush against him.

She pulls him backwards towards her bedroom.

"Jac?"

"Hmm?" She'd been so lost in thought she had clearly missed a question. She rolls from her back on to her side to look at him.

"Is this really where you want to be?"

"I was just starting to convince myself it was, then you showed up and ruined everything." She frowns at him.

He reaches out and takes her hand.

"I didn't have a choice. I had to come here." He tells her.

"Why?" She asks him her voice filled with confusion. "Did Serena send you?"

He laughs.

"No."

"Then why did you have to come?" She asks him her curiosity piquing.

"I love you." He tells her.

Her mouth is hanging open with shock for the second time in one day. She moves into his side and wraps her arms around him, buries her face in his neck.

No matter how hard she fought it, no matter how far she'd run, no matter how much physical distance she put between them she simply knew one thing, she didn't want to run away from him anymore.

'I've hurt people who have gotten close to me in the past." She tells him honestly.

"We all have." He answers her and it sounds like the truth.

'I don't want to hurt you." She tells him.

"You won't." He replies, his voice certain and filled with confidence.

"How do you know that? How do you seem so sure?"

"I know you." He tells her simply.

She figures maybe he does. Maybe he knows her better than she knows herself. Maybe he doesn't see her the same way she sees herself. Maybe somewhere along the line she had changed a bit or a lot and she just hadn't noticed it. Maybe she wasn't a scorpion after all.

"I want you to come back with me." He tells her honestly. "Back to Holby."

She nods. She knows that's where she belongs. It's the only place she belongs.
