So this has been quite the hectic January and February, let me tell ya. I was busy relaxing for several days before immediately jumping into looking for work and lo and behold I got one. So that's taking up my time now and then there's also the fact that by the time this chapter comes out, new years had already past so happy belated new year
A lot of the reviews have been getting my attention, and any and all questions will be answered in due time as the story progresses. So trust me, keep on asking cause your question will more than likely be answered along the way.
…..I hate brining this up but it's already been a year since my Grandfather passed away. These kinds of reflections really show you how fast time flies. Like fucking hell that blows.

And something amazing happened. You see I grew up with something really special from 2001 all the way to 2010. For ten years, this was the series of toys, games and merchandise of all sorts that I brought religiously. And after 5 years I hope this is their comeback.
My childhood of Bionicles have at last, after five years returned with a new wave, revamping the six original Toa. Tahu, Gali, Lewa, Kopaka, Pohatu and Onua ARE BACK. FUCK YEAH
I also want to post up this reminder, remember, the first Mass Effect game will not be as long as most. Again I will cover Tali, Garrus and Wrex's side missions as well as have Spider-mans own side mission but the Mass Effect 1 story won't be long. I'd say no more than 15 to 20 chapters tops when dealing with the first Mass Effect

Along Came A Spider Chapter 6: Talk about tense confrontations
"I think I'm gonna hurl" Ashley groaned, leaning over onto the parked Mako as the rest of the team exited the vehicle. The rest were just as dazed save for Wrex, Shepard and Spider-man, the latter of whom found the state of the Normandy crew quite entertaining.
The team had finally reached peak 15 where Matriarch Benezia was rumored to be here on the ice planet of Noveria.
"Would you like me to hold your hair back, Ash?" Peter jokingly asked, nudging the redhead with his elbow
"Don't push your luck" Ashley growled which she immediately regretted and threw up her lunch
"I got you" Peter said, holding her up with one hand keeping her hair back with the other.
"Now I have an urge to vomit" Tali said all queasy
"Oh come on" Shepard playfully complained "It couldn't have been that bad"
"Shepard, you made Liara's face turn from blue to green" Garrus pointed out, jabbing his thumb towards the Asari of the team who looked no better than Ashley
"Man, you Pyjaks have some really weak stomachs" Wrex said
"Enough" Shepard said "Is everyone ready?"
Though there were some weak groans of confirmation, the team was physically ready to go.
"Alright, let's move" Shepard said "Spider-man, you're our eye in the sky. Get a high point once we enter and see what you can do from up there and keep us posted"
"You got it" Spider-man gave a two finger salute as the entrance opened to reveal a large spacious plaza/slash warehouse/Garage of sorts. And of course…
"Commander, Geth dead ahead" Spider-man said, pointing his finger like a child
"Yes, we see that captain obvious" Ashley gritted out as everyone ducked to cover using crates while Spider-man leapt into the air, attaching to the wall
"Just doing my job Ash" Peter remarked light heartedly gaining a growl of annoyance from the redhead
"Those are Geth Juggernauts" Tali said with some fear "Benezia must really not want to be caught"
"Seriously? First Geth Colossus and now Geth Juggernauts?" Spider-man said aloud "Geez I wonder if the X-men know these guys are ripping off their names"
"What?" Kaidan said
"Story for another time" Spider-man replied, webbing a crate. He easily pulled and flung it right at the Geth Juggernaut.
Wrex took that opportunity to throw a Biotic pull. This reeled in the Juggernaut giving the entire team a clear shot at him. The combined fire power of the team easily ripped the Geth apart in two seconds.
"Woo" Spider-man cheered, swinging overhead "Go Team"
Spider-man landed right on a Geth, crushing it the moment he made it fall onto its back.
"Tali, Kaidan, Wrex, move up the right" Shepard ordered "We'll provide covering fire. Spider-man take out the Juggernauts, don't hold back"
"Wasn't planning on it" Spider-man said, nimbly dodging the Geth firing at him
"I said it before, for guys who have one eye and are robots, your accuracy are as good as a storm troopers" Spider-man flipped "And that's saying something"
He followed up his insults by webbing several Geth together.
"FORT" Spider-man said swinging the clustered Geth into a wall with enough strength and momentum to shatter them into pieces.
"Krogan coming in" Garrus warned from his spot as he sniped one down.
"Got 'em" Spider-man swung over them.
This in turn caught their attention giving Liara the chance to use her Biotics to lift the Krogan into the air while the others gunned them down.
"Up on the catwalk, to the left" Kaidan shouted
Everyone's attention shifted to Kaidan's said direction, directing their fire at the several Krogan that tried to get the jump on them.
The moment the brief skirmish ended a synthetic female voice spoke throughout the whole compound.
"User Alert" The voice said "All Peak 15 facilities have suffered a great deal of damage. Biohazard material present through facility. Virtual intelligence interface offline"
"Well that was an oddly convenient piece of information to hear" Peter said rubbing his chin
"We will need to get the reactors back online" Tali stated
"You heard the lady" Shepard said "Let's get moving team"
The crew went up the staircases onto the catwalk, going through a door that lead to another door that lead to another door with some turrets facing the opposite direction instead of facing them.
"Why are the turrets facing opposite from us?" Kaidan asked
"Hmph" Wrex spoke up "They want to keep their people in as much they want to keep us out"
"Man oh man" Peter jibbed "This place is starting to sound more and more like home"
"You keep saying that" Ashley stated "Why exactly?"
"I'll tell you when we finish our mission" Spider-man said cheekily
They all piled into a waiting elevator.
"The sooner we get off this frozen world, the better" Tali said with a slight shiver
"I hear that" Garrus said
The elevator reached a floor and when the door opened they were greeted with the sight of a snowy small hallway.
"Weapons out" Shepard said, slowly advancing towards the door with the team following behind him.
"Hold on Shepard" Spider-man said, getting to the front of the group
"What is it?"
"I'll go in first" Peter said resolutely
"Are you sure?" Shepard asked, stone expression
Spider-man wittingly wagged his finger at Commander Shepard like a teasing adult to a child.
"Come now Shepard" Spider-man said, the group feeling the grin beneath the mask "Ye of so little faith"
"I wonder why" Shepard deadpanned
Spider-man chose to simply turn around oh so dramatically. He edged closer to the door, now tense and ready. The door opened and he stepped into peak 15's mess hall and…
'Spider-sense' Peter thought feeling the familiar tingle in the back of his head as he ducked down into a crouching position, Geth fire flying overhead
"We've got company" Peter said, cartwheeling over to cover before latching onto the cold walls.
"Gee really?" Garrus dryly said, rushing in to shoot down a Geth trooper
"Hey I'm the one who volunteered to get shot at" Spider-man said webbing a Geth blind giving Kaidan and Ashley the chance to gun it down with ease "If anything I earn the right to state the obvious every time"
"Oh just shut up and keep shooting Pyjaks" Wrex growled, shooting a biotic pull at several Geth Shock troopers.
Tali, Liara and Shepard shot right through their kinetic shield, shooting them until bullet holes riddled their bodies.
The team made a clean sweep of the cafeteria, taking out the Geth forces with quick precision.
They soon approached the staircases leading out of the Cafeteria when thumping and scarping noises were heard.
"What was that?" Liara asked, raising her weapon along with several other teammates
"Probably just debris" Wrex said offhandedly "Don't have a panic attack, I'll protect you"
"For some reason, that does not comfort me" Garrus idly said getting a glare from the Krogan.
Then there were hissing and odd screeching sounds.
"Ok that's either debris or a cat getting strangle by a rubber glove" Spider-man quipped
"That was…a bit disturbing to be honest" Kaidan said, shuddering at the thought
"Yeah" Spidey said sheepishly "Sounded better in my head"
"Still, there is something else in here" Tali said
"You're right about that" Shepard said, pulling out his pistol and shooting at what looked like some kind of scuttling insects of sorts.
"Ew" Ashley's expression wrinkled into one of disgust "What the fuck are those?"
"And are those the supersized versions of them?" Spider-man asked pointing ahead to three distinguishably large insectoids
"I think I'm gonna be sick" Tali said holding her stomach
The lead creature screeched at them, firing some kind of green liquid at them. The group jumped apart as the substance landed between them with a profound 'Splash'.
"Ok" Kaidan said a bit green face "That was disgusting"
"I concur" Shepard said "Open Fire"
"And don't let whatever it shot at you touch you" Spider-man added "My Spider-sense blared when that thing fired at us"
The team shot at the unusual, freaky creatures, spider-man supporting them by webbing the waving tentacles together or webbing…whatever those pincer thingies of a mouth were shut.
"Ok, I have one question that we can all agree upon" Peter remarked "What the hell was that?"
"Dammed if I know" Wrex muttered, sniffing slightly "There is something familiar about them though"
"Someone on this station must know what we just faced" Shepard said determinedly "Let's keep moving and find out"
The group agreed and soon went straight for the next elevator.
"Man those things were creepy" Ashley said shivering from the thought of its body "I'm gonna have nightmares for weeks"
As the elevator door opened, Spider-man by instinct shot out his hand and grabbed one of those smaller bugs that jumped at the group.
"OH GROSS" Ashley shrieked
"Yes it is" Spider-man said inclining his head back
"Toss that thing" Garrus said quickly, holding up his sniper rifle
"Fort" Peter said aloud, throwing it into the air.
Garrus followed the critter through his scope and killed it with one shot.
"Nice Shot" Shepard complimented
"I try" Garrus said cockily
"Shepard" Liara spoke up, gesturing to a power junction "That is a backup power system for the station mainframe"
"So this can reset the whole mountain?" Kaidan said "A bit convenient that we found it so easily if you ask me"
"Critical startup error" The same artificial voice said from the garage "Virtual intelligence user interface offline. Manual boot required"
Spider-man scratched his chin, putting on a very contemplative pose that caught the attention of Tali.
"What's wrong Spider-man?"
"Oh nothing" Spider-man said, waving his hand in dismissal as they continued down the room
"Seems pretty serious" Garrus spoke up "You look like you're contemplating how the universe works"
"Oh" Spider-man said bashfully "That's every day"
"Really?" Ashley arched an eyebrow "Then do tell Web-head, what are you thinking of?"
"Well" Peter paused "I feel as though I should be making some kind of sci-fi reference every time that robot lady talks"
Practically everyone face palmed.
"I have half a mind to eat you right now" Wrex growled
"How would you like him?" Garrus pointed his sniper rifle at the arachnid hero "Whole or minced?"
"Guys" Shepard said, a bit irked "Not now"
Shepard stepped onto a platform, lowering down to the core that held the stations VI.
He rose once more and once he stepped off, a hologram of a female human appeared
"Whoa, what's Cortana doing here?" Peter said
Kaidan actually chortled
"You're kidding" Spider-man said in disbelief "You actually know Halo?"
"Apologies" The VI said "But I am not this Cortana you speak of. This system is monitored to respond to the name 'Mira'"
"So you're the VI that runs this station" Shepard said 'as-a-matter-of-fact'
"You are correct" Mira replied "May I ask your names?"
"I'm commander Shepard, I work for the Citadel's Special Tactics and Reconnaissance"
"Oh ho" Spider-man nudged Ashley with his elbow "Shepard's introducing himself strong"
"Oh god do you ever shut up" Ashley groaned "I have enough of that with my sisters"
"One moment please" Mira said as she transmitted data "Council Authority confirmed. You are entitled to Secure access to all systems"
Mira quickly went down some random mandatory explanations on what he can and can't access(Negating some of his Spectre status), Shepard asked the big question.
"I need to find Matriarch Benezia" Shepard said "Do you know where she is?"
"Affirmative" Mira replied "Lady Benezia departed on the passenger tramway to the Rift Station Subsidiary labs"
"Bingo" Garrus said
"Hold on Garrus" Shepard chided "There's always a catch"
Lo and behold
"User alert. The tramway system is currently inoperable"
"Why am I not surprised" Spider-man said expectantly
"What's the situation here?" Shepard demanded
"One moment please. Diagnostics in process" Mira paused "Critical Failure. Main reactor shutdown in accordance with emergency containment procedures. Manual restart required. Critical failure. Landline connections are disabled. Passenger tram systems are offline"
"Wow, it's like slapping us in the face and saying 'Good luck'" Spider-man stated getting nods from the team
"So now what?" Ashley asked
"The only thing we can do now is repair the main reactor and reconnect the landlines if we are to continue" Liara said
"Then that's what we'll do" Shepard said, determined
"Do you think we should spilt up?" Kaidan suggested
Shepard contemplated for a moment
"No" Shepard said resolutely "I'm not risking that. Getting to this Peak alone was a hassle and there are still to many elements here that can prove disastrous"
"Can't disagree there" Spider-man said
"Mira" Shepard turned back to the core "Where can we find the main reactor and landline connections?"
"You can find the landline connections on the roof" Mira answered "Access to the roof can be found directly behind. Go up the stairs and keep going straight until you reach the elevator. That will lead you directly to the roof"
"Alright team, you heard the VI" Shepard said "Let's move"
The group now moved at a bit of a more quicker yet cautious pace. Now that they knew Matriarch Benezia, time was of the essence because who knew if she might have a way of escaping the mountain or worse the planet.
The moment the elevator reached the roof, everyone was on the defensive. Every time they exited an elevator, they were almost immediately shot at. And of course…
"Contact" Kaidan shouted
"It's more of those weird bug things" Ashley said, shivering more from the sight of the fast crawling cockroaches then the cold.
"Hey Peter, their bugs right?" Garrus said jokingly as he got behind cover "SO this should be right up your alley, right Spidey?"
"Har har" Spider-man dryly responded
Still, the web head decided to humor the Turian. He pressed down on his web shooters several times, attaching and weaving the strands together.
Peter hopped up on one of the antennas, spreading his hands apart revealing a….spider web(God that's lame). One of the insect like creatures caught sight of Spider-man as he descended down onto the ground, snagging the insectoid, who foolishly struggled into getting trapped within the web sack Spider-man made.
Spider-man attached another web line and heaved, now swinging the creature over his head with ease.
Peter's spider-sense blared in warning. Using his super-human reflexes, Spider-man did a one eighty turn, smashing a sneaking insect from above that jumped down from the mountain. The combined momentum of both the fall and the swing of Spider-man effectively killed both bugs.
A few saw that little display and couldn't help but blink in awe and surprise.
"Geez, I'm not gonna get used to that" Kaidan said
"Get used to what?" Garrus remarked "The super strength, super speed, reflexes or webs?"
"All of the above" Tali said
"Guy's it's not that serious" Spider-man said modestly
"Whatever you say" Garrus remarked, before humming a certain song aloud causing Spider-man to freeze up in horror
"Oh god" Peter moaned in realization
"Yeah, don't think I haven't heard that song" Garrus said triumphantly "I finally have some leverage on you"
"Oh, you mean the Ramones song" Kaidan said in realization "Yeah, I heard it before, back on the Citadel with Ash and Commander Shepard"
"Can we please not talk about it" Peter whined as Tali and Shepard fixed the Landline connections.
"Alright, that's one down" Shepard announced
"Sweet" Spider-man said "So where's the Main Reactor?"
The answer came from behind the Web head who jolted from Mira's voice
"The main reactor can be found on the way back down to where you repaired my core" Mira answered "It is just around the core, down the hall until you arrive at the elevator that will take you to the Main reactor"
"Convenient" Garrus said
"Then what are we waiting for?" Kaidan asked rhetorically
Not waiting for any replies, the team resumed its fast walk to the elevator and eventually to where they repaired Mira, quickly dispatching another one of those insects until at last reaching the elevator that took them down to the main reactor.
The team found themselves in a large room.
"That big structure in the middle has to be the main reactor" Tali surmised
"Contacts" Ashely stated, causing everyone(Except Spider) to pull out their weapons
"Split up" Shepard ordered "Wrex, Liara, Kaidan, you're with me. Peter, Garrus, Ash, Tali, take the right. Check your corners, make sure nothing gets the jump on you"
A quick chorus of 'yes sir' and the team split. Spider-man's group immediately ran into Geth, the same going for Shepards company.
"Destroyers and stalkers" Tali, calling out the names of the Geth that were shooting at them
"Geth Stalkers?" Spider-man said "Ok, I find that a bit creepy"
The second he finished that quip, Pete's Spider-sense went off
"Look out" Spider-man cried out, tackling the others forward as a Geth Juggernaut on the platform above attempted to surprise them.
Garrus was on his back when he fell, giving him the chance to shoot at the Juggernaut, killing it with a precise shot right in the optic.
"Nice shot" Peter complimented
"I try" Garrus said casually as they got up and moved forward to reunite with the others.
Shepard and Tali went up to fix the main reactor with Spider-man observing from his spot above that he jumped on.
"You're really into all this repairing stuff" Shepard noted as the VI Mira announced the repairs of the Main reactor.
"Call me a tech geek" Spider-man shrugged "After all, I did tell you I made my web shooters"
"True" Shepard nodded, clambering into the elevator with everyone else.
They soon returned back up to where Mira's core was stationed only to encounter yet another one of those insectoids.
It was an easy fight since only one attacked.
"Ok, seriously, what the fuck are these things" Ashley asked with a shudder.
"There is something extremely familiar about them" Wrex said once again "I just can't….."
"What? What is it?" Tali asked the now silent Krogan
"Nothing" Wrex waved off "let's keep going"
"You alright?" Spider-man asked with some concern "Looked like you were have a serious thought process there"
"It's alright" Wrex said firmly
"Come on people" Shepard said "We still have a mission to finish"
Not seeing a point in arguing, the Normandy team continued down the path towards the tram elevator.
"How many elevators does this place have?" Spider-man said in bewilderment
"Why? Is it an issue for you?" Liara asked in confusion
"No" Spider-man said "It's just you'd think they would be more conservative on building and just make one elevator for the whole mountain"
"That's a nice sentiment" Ashley said mock-seriously "Why don't you tell that to the survivors"
"No need to get all dark on me" Spider-man murmured
Just before the elevator stopped at its destination, Mira spoke about yet another 'User Alert'.
"User alert! Loose contaminants in the decontamination chamber. Access to passenger tramways inadvisable"
"Bet it's more of those bug things" Kaidan remarked
"Probably" Garrus said in agreement "They are a lot like parasites that you wanna get rid of….kind of like spiders"
"HA" Peter gave a fake laugh "Only this spider can web you up and leave you dangling on the side of a building"
The elevator reached its floor and the team kept moving forward now facing two doors. The one on the left was locked but the door on the right opened for them.
The first thing that caught their attention were the odd creatures that stood stationary in the hall before them. The creatures didn't seem to notice them as they focused solely on the door before them.
"They're locked in" Wrex said
"But that's our only way to the Tramway" Shepard said, examining the room
"Ah man" Spider-man said to himself, kneeling down to check on the body of a dead Salarian
"Wonder what happened to him" Garrus idly said crouching down alongside his friend
"Look here" Spider-man pointed to a hole in the aliens chest "Straight out of the movie alien if anything"
"Alien?"
"I'll show it to you sometime" Peter said
"So what's the plan Shepard?" Ashley asked "We gotta get through that hallway to get to the Rift Station"
"Let's just open the door" Wrex said impatiently "We can plow through those clowns easily"
"Clowns aren't the descriptions I'd give these freaks" Kaidan murmured
"Mira, are you there?" Shepard said to a terminal
"Yes Commander Shepard" Mira's Avatar blinked up "How may I be of assistance?"
"We need to get through to the Tramway" Shepard stated
"User alert" Mira began When Shepard interrupted her
"I understand you need to keep those things at bay, but we are on a time schedule" Shepard said firmly "Override protocol and allow access to those doors"
"Override confirmed" Mira said after a moment "Advise caution when proceeding through hallway"
"I got it covered" Shepard said "Spider-man, Front and center"
"SIR, YES SIR" Spider-man said overdramatically jumping forward and snapping into a salute
"Very funny" Shepard said wryly before turning serious "It's plain and simple what you need to do, Pete. Those things always charge at us, so just form a thick web in front of the door before I open it so when they run at us"
"They'll just get tangled up" Spider-man finished the sentence getting a nod out of the Spectre
"Alright people" Shepard said "Let's make this quick"
The team all exited the small room and now stood before the door that held back the aliens.
"Ready?"
Spider-man just shot his web-shooters in response, creating a two layered web that stretched from the ceiling to the floor.
"Alright" Shepard said from the control panel "Opening the door in three…two…one…"
The door slid open and the team was met with the now familiar screeching and hissing that came with the charging unidentified aliens.
The hissing did nothing to help their situation though, as both insects easily got ensnared in the trap set by Spider-man. Once the two got tangled up, both were killed with bullets to the head.
"Well that was easy" Kaidan said before saying "I'm most likely going to regret and eat those words"
"Yes" Garrus said dryly "Yes you will"
"Come on people" Shepard said, walking down the now clear hallway "We'll laugh at Kaidan's expense later…..preferably when he gets knocked down on his ass"
"You are not gonna let me live this down are you?" Kaidan deadpanned
"No" Ashley said right away "It's your turn anyway. You guys did this to me when we went to rescue Liara so it's only fair you suffer as well with the constant belittlement"
"Wait, so whoever says something really stupid is gonna be the one who is tormented by the rest of the group on every planet we visit?" Wrex asked for clarification
"Pretty much" Ashely said
"Since when did this become a thing?" Kaidan asked incredulously
"Since I allowed it" Shepard said with a smirk
"Hey, wait a minute" Spider-man spoke up "Why do you guys do it to me then? I haven't done anything yet"
Ashley stared long and hard at the web-head making him feel rather threatened then uncomfortable.
"You really don't want me to answer that" Ashley said annoyed
Wrex chortled, slapping Peter on the back.
"She's got you there"
"Is this gonna be a thing now?" Spider-man asked/complained "Only two adventures in and I'm going to be the butt of every joke?"
"Well…." Kaidan now said
"Don't" Spider-man held up his hand "Just don't say anything. I should have seen it sooner"
"You're taking this a lot easier than I thought" Shepard noted
"Hey, it's not the first time this has happened" Spider-man said offhandedly "Most definitely won't be the last"
"Wait, you've dealt with something like this before?" Tali asked
"Oh ho ho yeah" Peter replied "In the words of a ruff gruff friend of mine 'Every group needs a joker who can take a joke'"
"IS that the nice version of it?" Garrus said "Cause that really sounds like every team needs a bitch who could take it"
"That's funny coming from you" Spider-man shot back
"God are you two friends or exes" Ashley said
"I don't think we can answer that" Garrus and Peter said at the same time
Silence….then
"That was the most sickening thing I think I have ever seen" Wrex said aloud
"I concur" Tali said "Let's drop this before it gets worse"
"Agreed" Everyone said
Their conversation and walking pace stopped when they arrived before the Tram.
"Huh…." Spider-man said, breaking the silence "Alright, let's go"
Not seeing any reason not to, the crew piled into the tram and all took seats as Mira announced their destination, the Rift Station.
The train ride was silent. Everyone wasn't really keen for any conversation. They just wanted to catch their breath and rest up before the next big stretch of tedious tasks before finally confronting the big boss matriarch…kind of like a video game.
"Hang on" Liara said "Isn't this usually a perfect time to attack? We are relaxed and seated"
"Don't worry Liara" Spider-man waved off from his make shift hammock that he made "If anything happens, your radar or my spider-sense will see it coming"
"I hope so" Liara said tentatively
"That looks really comfortable" Tali said, staring at that relaxed form of Spider-man as he lay upon his web hammock
"It is" Peter said cheerfully "I've reinforced it for better comfort"
"Can it hold someone like me?" Wrex inquired, clearly curious
"It can hold a car" Spider-man said
"Hmmm" Wrex hummed "Make one for me then"
"Uh…" Spidey for some reason wasn't quite sure as to why he asked this but shrugged
"Alright, but you owe me one"
"Yeah, yeah you little pyjak, just hurry up and do it"
"Ok" Spider-man just aimed his web shooters at the ceiling and with expert precision and years of practice coming into play, Spider-man created a heavily reinforced hammock/bed from his webs that hung before the Krogan Battle Master.
Wrex tested it out by prodding and pulling on it.
"How come it's not sticky like it usually is?" Wrex asked
"Well for one thing, my body is naturally immune to the webs that I make" Spider-man explained "It's an electric-molecular type thing that's a bit too complicated to explain. The one I just made is one of the variants I made back on the ship"
"You make variants of your webbing?" Tali asked, now interested
"Oh yeah" Spider-man said "In my line of work, I've made multiple types of webbing depending on different situations"
"That actually doesn't sound like such a bad idea" Shepard said, stroking his chin "Could come in handy on future missions"
The small banter between the teammates stopped momentarily when they heard the sound of 700 hundred year old Krogan snoring. He looked surprisingly peaceful on the web hammock, a foot dangling off the edge.
"That was fast" Garrus noted
"Yeah, he knocked out faster here then he does in the Mako whenever Shepard's driving" Ashley added
"What is so bad about my driving?" Shepard asked, now bemused "I put a fully grown Krogan to sleep"
"There's a difference between a Krogan and everyone else" Garrus deadpanned "Unlike Wrex's species, the rest of us aren't thrill seekers to that degree"
"Ahem"
"Don't worry Pete, I didn't forget you"
"Thank you"
"I'm sorry Shepard" Liara said a bit shyly "Though I am still very grateful for you coming to find and rescue me I must incline to agree with Garrus and the others. Your driving does leave a lot to be desired"
Most of the group held smug looks, directed at Shepard.
Shepard slumped in his seat
"You guys are assholes" Shepard remarked, though not really meaning it "Remind me again why I recruited you people?"
"Cause you were sad, desperate and alone?" Spider-man said
"You kind of walked into that one, Skipper" Ashley said, giggling with the others
"Yeah" Shepard said with a small chuckle "I did"
"Wait" Spider-man said in total seriousness "Skipper?"
Shepard groaned "Dammit Ashley"
"What?" Ashley grinned "Just cause you're the commander and a Spectre doesn't make you exempt from anything we do"
"Duly noted" Shepard replied vacantly
The train ride was relevantly silent after Shepards last words, a few comments here and there.
The tramway arrived at the Rift Station after another fifteen minutes with the team exiting with their guard up.
Shepard, Liara, Wrex and Kaidan came up the front while Garrus, Tali, Ashley and Peter covered the rear. They never let their guard down, passing by an inaccessible elevator.
"Where does this elevator lead?" Ash asks, gesturing to the locked elevator
"Says right here" Tali inspected the label above the control panel "These leads to the hot labs"
"We have to keep moving" Shepard said "We have to check the entire facility before moving on to any locked doors"
"Probably locked it cause of those creepy crawlers" Ashley said, shuddering at the thought of those creatures
The group continued onward reaching two elevators, one that went up and the other that also lead to the hot labs, which was locked.
"So" Garrus drawled out "Which way do we go?"
"Flip a coin?" Spider-man suggested earning looks from the team
"Hey I'm trying to contribute here, what are you people doing?" Spider-man said with mock indignation
Shepard shook his head in amusement.
"We go right" Shepard said "If we find nothing up there, we'll find a way to use the elevator on the left"
Knowing there was no point in arguing, the team continued in following after Shepard, all in yet again, another of the millions of elevators in this galaxy.
The elevator arrived at its destination and opened the door to a group of soldiers, hiding behind crates with their guns pointed right at them.
"Stand down" the lead human commanded, sounding relieved "They're not one of those crawlers"
The others complied, lowering their guns, letting out breaths they were all holding.
Shepard stepped forward with his team at his back.
"Sorry about that" The lead human apologized tensely "We couldn't take any chances on what else was coming on that tramway"
"Understood" Shepard said truthfully "I'd only be upset if they fired"
The man smirked at the quick wit
"Even hopped up on stims, my people know the rule. Two legs good, Four legs bad"
"Good rule" Shepard said
"Thanks, but even if you are human and your team ain't one of those bugs, I'd like to know who you are and why you're here"
"My name is Shepard" The N7 marine said "I'm a Spectre"
"Huh" The human said, thoughtful expression "I won't look a heavily armed horse in the mouth. Captain Ventralis"
"The aliens overran the hot labs last week. Only Han Olar got out and let's just say he ain't all there anymore"
"The First we knew were these bastards were clawing into my command post" The Captain finished bitterly "We had a lot more staff then"
"You were taken by surprise and had civilians to protect" Shepard said firmly "You did your best captain"
"Sure as hell don't feel like it" Ventralis said somberly.
Peter sympathized with the soldier, knowing the guilt he felt for never doing enough in his opinion. He always felt like he could have done more but never could, regardless of all the power he had.
The conversation ended with Ventralis giving an access card to the hot labs where Benezia was last suspected to be. But of course, things can't always play out that easily.
'Spider-sense'
Spider-man felt the his sixth sense go off.
"We've got company" Peter announced and just as he did so, a familiar screeching and hissing was heard as more of those bug things burst out from vents, crawling up from the floor.
"Ok, that's creepy" Spider-man said, pinning two down with his web shooters
"Why do you find that creepy?" Tali asked, firing at her own bug
"Dear god, I don't know if this is gonna be my catchphrase, I better paten it" Spider-man murmured to himself before answering Tali "Long story, I'll tell you about it later"
The room was soon cleared of the invaders, the team reloading their weapons while the guards stared in total shock at Spider-man.
"Hey uh" Ventralis stuttered "Uh, who are you…exactly?"
"Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man" Peter said boisterously
"Don't mind him" Garrus said casually "He has a chronic illness of stupidity that has yet to be identified"
"And don't mind him, we still have yet to identify the foreign object up his….well whatever he has inside him to be super jealous of yours truly"
"There both idiots, one of which has superhuman abilities" Shepard said to the Captain aloofly "Let's just leave it at that"
"Uh…" Was all Ventralis could utter out, watching the newcomers leave them
"Sir" The Turian next to him said "What in the spirits name was that?"
"For once corporal, I really don't know" Ventralis said, rubbing the temple of his nose "But you can be damn sure we're demanding a raise after this cause this shit is just getting to weird"
On their way down, Garrus came up with a wildly stupid idea.
"Say, the reactions we get when we introduce spider-man are quite funny, don't you agree?"
"True" Kaidan snickered "Hell even I'm still surprised sometimes"
"Why don't we record their reactions?" Garrus said, snorting at the thought "Have an album of all the gaping faces from seeing Spider-man do something insane for the first time"
"And you want to do this…Why?" Spider-man asked
"I dunno" Garrus said honestly "Just a thought that came up"
The group exited the elevator and moved to the lift that was originally inaccessible.
"Still" Shepard said "A photo album doesn't sound like a bad idea. Never really had a photo album"
"Really?" Spider-man said, interest peaked "I never expected that from you"
"What did you expect?" Shepard asked, curious
"Well" Spider-man scratched his head "I dunno, just that you had a family"
"Oh, and what's your 'photo album' like?" Ashley challenged
"Mostly being a loner" Peter reminisced "Huh…now I'm depressed"
"Uh" Ashley scratched her cheek, feeling a bit guilty "Sorry?"
"It's ok" Spider-man waved off "Always was kind of a loner, few friends, no opportunities"
"Ok, no need to beat a dead horse" Kaidan deadpanned, Peter chuckling in turn.
"You humans and your weird sayings" Wrex murmured
The elevator doors opened to a large room with only one occupant. A man sat on a seat, looking completely tired and rattled, ready to collapse at a moments notice.
"Are you here to secure the situation" The man said weakly, trembling in fear
"More or less" Spider-man said with a shrug "No one else can't do it for one reason or another"
Shepard shot Spidey a look, making him raise his hand in compliance.
"How are you holding up?" Shepard asked
The rattled man had no care for Shepards concerns.
"You must listen to me" Yaroslev Tartakovsky said frantically, with great terror "If we do not contain our mistake, they will drop bombs from the battle stations. You understand?"
"Wait a minute" Ashley said "Contain your mistake?"
"You're the one who let these things loose?" Shepard said accusingly
"Eh, I am only following the orders" Yaroslev said weakly
"How typical" Spider-man groaned "Seriously, this could not be more cliché"
"Binary Helix found an egg on a derelict ship" Yaroslev explained "It was drifting for thousands of years"
He paused for a moment
"This was a Rachni ship" That caught everyone's attention, save for Spider-man, who had only heard of the name and not the weight it carried
"Inside, they found many eggs in cryogenic suspension"
"And you thought it was a good idea to investigate?!" Wrex growled savagely
"Wrex stand down" Shepard ordered with a raised voice, though he still kept a glare leveled on Yaroslev
"So you're telling me that you managed to hatch a thousand year old frozen Rachni egg?"
"Yes" Yaroslev stuttered "IT's miraculous"
"Miraculous?!" Wrex roared in anger "What's miraculous about that?!"
"I have to agree with Wrex" Garrus stated "Who in their right mind would ever do that? You might as well have given the Geth an open invitation to take over the citadel"
'Man these Rachni must be a big deal" Spider-man thought with interest 'Especially if it got someone like Wrex riled up to this extent"
"What exactly do they want to do with the Rachni they hatched?" Shepard said aloud gaining some control over the conversation
"Binary Helix plans on cloning the Rachni, mass produce them and create their own army"
"Ok, That's the most generic thing I think I've ever heard" spider-man said "Seriously, right out of an old sci-fi movie"
"Don't hold your breath" Ashley murmured
"But they discovered that this was no ordinary Rachni Egg" Yaroslev went on "It is a queen"
"Ok, when did this become Aliens" Spider-man said jokingly, getting a snicker out of the humans of the team, while the rest glanced at the web-head with obvious confusion
"After she lays egg, they move her to Rift Station. They thought that without her, babies would be obedient"
"Well it all went off without a hitch, didn't it?" Spider-man quipped
"So it didn't work for many obvious reasons" Shepard said steely "What happened after that? The quarantine?"
"Eh" Yaroslev said to himself miserably "It was the exact wrong thing to do. I am thinking that without the queen, the Rachni do not develop properly. Her mind is shaping theirs. These Rachni are uncontrollable"
"So what, can't we just bring that queen of theirs here?" Ashley suggested
"No" Yaroslev said sternly now "That will not work. There is no hope in getting these Rachni under control. The only solution not is to euthanize them. A neutron purge to wipe them all out"
"Genocide then" Wrex Said
'Genocide?' Spider-man though, disturbed at the idea 'Sure these things are a nuisance and all, but killing them so easily? How exactly does this help anyone' (Note: Spider-man still doesn't know the full history of the Mass Effect universe, seeing that he has only been here for a maximum of three months. He will learn more in time)
'Is this the right thing to-SPIDER SNESE'
All other thoughts and conversations were cut off when a tentacle pierced Yaroslev's chest just as he was about to give Shepard the Neuron Purge code.
From behind were several more Rachni, that shrieked, already firing plasma blasts of some kind at the team.
"Bastards!" Spider-man shouted, instantly jumping at the Rachni with no regards for himself
'I can't believe I didn't see them coming' Spider-man berated himself, kicking and punching each Rachni with such force that they all flew back, two hitting the walls and the other was uppercutted into the ceiling.
A moment later, the Rachni fell to the ground, unmoving.
Spider-man exhaled, not out of exhaustion but out of anger. He still felt some rage coursing through his veins, but he needed to suppress that for the moment.
Peter turned back to the others to find them looking at him with wide-eyed, stunned expressions.
And now his bravado vanished.
"What?"
"Nothing" Shepard said slowly "It's just…"
"Damn" Garrus and Wrex said at the same time
"Yeah" Kaidan nodded in agreement "I think that about sums it up"
"Sorry" Spider-man rubbed the back of his head "I kinda lost control there"
"It's understandable" Shepard said, patting him on the shoulder.
The two looked over to the now dead Yaroslev.
Wordlessly, Shepard went over to the corpse, retrieved the codes, walked over to a VI terminal, gave Mira the codes and set the purge on.
And of course…
Peter's sixth sense went off.
"We've got company" Spider-man announced, webbing multiple ventilations shut which proved effective as the webbing held back the onslaught of Rachni that were attempting to get through.
Peter, however couldn't cover all entrances as multiple Rachni swarmed into the room through holes they either made or the vents that weren't webbed shut.
"Let's move people" Shepard shouted, with everyone firing everything they had to clear a path.
The moment they reached the elevator, the Neutron purge activated, killing all the Rachni within the room and across the station.
The team was panting, catching their breath.
"Man" Spider-man said, the only one not that winded "These close calls are becoming WAY to frequent"
"Hey" Garrus nudged the web heads shoulder "At least it makes the job more interesting"
Ok leaving it off here
I know, it's a horrible spot to leave it on, but honestly it is high time I update this story cause it's been nearly 3 months.
Some of you are probably wondering why it's taking me so long to update my stories. I meant to say it sooner, but I have been on a break of sorts from writing, trying to collect myself in life and all that shit.
I am also currently making multiple new crossovers, one of which is nearing completion. It's something I have wanted to do from the start and I am kind of disappointed in myself that I didn't do it sooner, but my reason being that I needed a lot of reading and adjusting to do once I publish it.
So anyway I'm back and I have to say that even though this isn't my best chapter in my opinion, my main favorite part was just writing the interaction between the entire crew, the small dialogue they each shared with one another throughout the chapter and it is something I plan on doing a lot cause I really love character dialogue and I've been watching all of Quintin Tarantino's movies as of late repeatedly so there that is.
So I plan maybe one, or one and a half more chapters of the Benezia mission and then I'll have a really awesome long one where the crew returns to the Citadel for a restock on supplies and all. I'll also be covering Garrus's and Tali's side missions during the long chapter and then I'll do Wrex's near the end. Spider-man's personal side mission will actually take place after they defeat Saren and it will be very pivotal in setting up the rest of this crossover from Mass Effect 2 all the way to the end of Mass Effect 3.
Many seeds are being planted early on that will hold important events for the future.
I also want to mention about Spider-man utilizing his powers to their full potential. It will happen in good time. I also want to make Spider-man gradually stronger, because he himself will be pushing his limits cause he realizes he will need to do so in a universe like the one he is in.
By the chapter where they stop by the citadel, we will see spider-man working on his new armored suit with the help of Tali. So that much I can say would be pretty obvious.
I will show you some interactions that Peter has had with Miranda in flashbacks as well as future interactions I know you people will love.
And maybe, JUST maybe I may have some competition for Peter to add more flare to the story but I will remain loyal to the pairing I have posted
