10. Chapter 10

It's officially been 10 chapters since I started this crazy crossover idea. I am amazed just how far I have gotten with this crossover in terms of length and support

You fans are some of the best, I love you guys.

Now then I hope it would not have taken as long as usual to update this story.

So the last two chapters were an absolute blast to write cause I just threw my entire imagination and knowing of Spider-man and Mass Effect along with my own quirks on those chapters so I had so much fun writing them. And I'm really glad so many of you guys liked what I made.

More of those on the way soon

Many revelations will be coming in the coming chapters and again more foreshadowing of what will come in the future parts of the story.

I already said before that it will still follow the main three Mass Effect games however there will be many changes and alternative scenarios since we're including the fucking Marvel universe in all of this. Yes it was pretty obvious from the start that other characters from the Marvel universe will eventually make it into the Mass Effect universe.

I've already got several heroes in mind who will find themselves in the ME universe. There's one in particular that I believe will bled perfectly with Spider-man. This hero is someone I've fallen in love with cause this is such a well developed character I the Marvel universe and is still developing and learning which makes this character all the more endearing to me.

Now since I mentioned there will be alternative scenarios that will play out, the first Mass Effect will play out as it did in the game.

What I'm getting at is the upcoming mission on Virmire.

This is something that's really starting to make me think hard on the outcome of that mission.

So suffice to say I'm leaving this to a vote.

Should one of the two of Ashley and Kaidan die on Virmire as it is expected to happen in the game. If yes who should it be the one to die? Ashley? Or Kaidan? Or should neither of them die? Because Spider-man is a part of this team, should neither of them die and survive?

Along Came A Spider Chapter 10: Don't fear Feros…..seriously, it's not that scary….is it? Seriously it can't be that bad?...why aren't you answering?!

"Wow, I haven't seen Wrex move at all since he put those headphones on" Garrus remarked

"I figured he'd like it" Spider-man said, scratching his head on the wall he sat on "But I never figured it'd be that effective"

"You should have done it sooner" Shepard joked "I don't think anyone has seen a Krogan so silent before"

"He looks as though he's thinking on the meaning of life" Liara said as an observation

Spider-man and Shepard snorted.

"Liara, I don't know how you'll react if you listen to Slipknot, but for you, I'm pretty sure you won't be thinking of 'the meaning of life'" Peter said

"Well, people have different reactions to certain types of music" Shepard said thoughtfully "Who knows, Liara might like it"

"I never imagined myself liking it" Peter said, now attaching a web line to the ceiling, hanging upside down "I got a friend back home who loves metal. Kind of got me into it after hanging around him so long"

The group fell into silence, still watching the Krogan who had glazed look in his eye, not taking his eyes off the floor.

The air was becoming a bit tense.

"So Shepard" Garrus said, breaking the silence "Any Ideas as to why the Geth were spotted on Feros"

"Good question detective" Peter said "The way some of you guys reacted, was it really that surprising that Saren attacked Feros?"

"I just don't see what Saren wants on Feros" Shepard admitted

"Hey that guys just a bag of crazy evil douchebag" Spider-man said twirling his finger near his head "Who knows what that guys thinking"

"Good point" Garrus agreed

"Speaking of Feros" Shepard said "How's your armor coming along?"

"Meh" Was all Spider-man did "I've only worked on bits and pieces of it"

Shepard gave him a look, his eyes half lidded "Care to tell me what you've been doing in your 'Office'?"

Spider-man stared right back at him as the camera zoomed right into his white lenses.

Flashback

Peter was examining his chest piece intently, using his omni-tool and other gadgets to learn as much as he can on the functions of his new suit.

"Hey Peter" Garrus walked in

"Hey Garrus" Peter said, setting down the suit "What's up?"

"Oh, just the usual" Garrus said "Been calibrating the main gun"

"Is that going to be your new hobby now?" Peter joked

Garrus shrugged, sitting down in the chair next to the table Peter was working on.

"How's the suit coming along?" Garrus said, making small talk

"Getting down the basic features and functions" Peter said, now holding a wrist piece "Once I get that down, I'll see what I can do to increase mobility and flexibility"

"Aren't their alliance armor that's skin tight?"

"And expensive as hell?" Peter said "More than likely. Miranda wears a one of those cat suits and she told me while it is flexible, it can't match the things I can do"

"So why not just get something like that?" Garrus asked

"Hey, all of you guys have a type bulky armor in some cases" Spider-man said heartedly "Why ruin the trend?"

Garrus hummed in a neutral sort of way

"Wanna go screw with the crew?" Peter suggested

Garrus grinned evilly

"Do I ever"

Flashback ends

Peter was still hanging upside down before Shepard.

"Peter?"

"Uh" Peter finally spoke up "Me and Garrus just….entertained ourselves"

Garrus managed to hold back a laugh when Liara gave them an accusatory glance

"Wait a minute" Liara murmured "It was you two wasn't it? You were the ones who got Ashley…"

Liara was cut off by the sound of a raging alliance sergeant

"WHERE ARE THEY?!" Ashley Williams ran in, practically frothing at the mouth wearing her trademark armor with her brilliant pink hair

Garrus and Spider-man began howling with laughter, Liara holding back whilst Shepard gave out a boisterous laugh as well.

Even Wrex blinked out of his daze to look over at the gunnery sergeant and give out a growl like laugh.

Ashley gritted her teeth before looking back, yelling….

"GUYS I FOUND THEM" Ashley shouted

At once, Shepard, Liara and Wrex stopped laughing, looking at the mischievous duo.

"What did you do?" Shepard asked, a bit dangerously

"Eh-heh" Garrus let out "Well, we thought…"

"Since we have another day or two until we arrive at Feros" Spider-man said "We thought we could have some fun with everyone"

"Does that 'everyone' include…." Shepard didn't get to finish the question as more than two dozen Normandy crew members rushed out, all of their hair being died a brilliant pink.

"By the Goddess" Liara murmured, stunned by what Garrus and Peter managed to pull off.

"This is the part where we run away" Garrus and Peter said in unison, already high tailing it out of the room with 25 pissed off Normandy crew members, some actually holding pipes and guns.

"YOU'RE NOT GETTING AWAY FROM US" Ashley proclaimed

The room was now silent with the remaining few occupants staring in the direction of which the two criminals were pursued.

"By the Goddess" Liara rubbed her chest "What compelled them to do such a deed?"

"Boredom most likely" Wrex commented, returning to his Slipknot session

"Why do I feel like I need to have a long talk with them" Shepard said, half amused and half annoyed

"What are you going to do?" Liara asked

"I dunno" Shepard said with a shrug "Probably scold them. Then wag my finger at them and give them a time out"

"You're going to treat them like children?" Liara asked, genuinely surprised at the method Shepard described

Shepard chortled "No, of course not. I may be their commander but I'm not their dad. We need get you a sense of humor Liara, otherwise guys like Garrus, Joker and Peter are gonna torment you everyday"

Liara flushed with embarrassment at Shepards statement, now feeling more meek than she usually is, especially around the commander.

John instantly noted this and cringed at his bluntness

"I'm sorry Liara" Shepard said sincerely "I didn't mean for that to come out the way it did"

"It's ok Shepard" Liara murmured

"No" Shepard said with more force "That was rude of me, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings"

Liara blinked at Shepard before giving him a gentle smile

"It's alright Shepard" Liara said earnestly "Like I said after Therum when you saved me. I'm not that familiar with human customs and social behavior"

Shepard stared at the Asari before returning her smile.

"Commander, Liara" Said a familiar female

The two looked over to see Tali walking over to them.

"Tali, glad to see you out of the engine room" Shepard said friendly and all

"How is the engine doing Tali?" Liara asked her budding friend "Is it everything you expected it to be?"

Tali seemed to glow at the question

"It's the best" Tali said happily "I still can't believe I'm on the most advanced ship in the galaxy. It's one of the greatest privileges a Quarian could ask for. I can't thank you enough Shepard"

"No thanks needed Tali" Shepard said offhandedly "Hell you're one of the main reasons I'm a Spectre right now. Just think of this as payback. Besides, aren't we friends at this point?"

Tali tilted her head in surprise at Shepards statement before giving the commander a beaming smile.

"You know, you and Spider-man are the first two people to ever say that to me" Tali said

"Really? Spider-man said that before I did" Shepard said "He really gets around"

"Speaking of" Tali looked around "Did Peter and Garrus come through here?"

"More like ran" Shepard said wryly "The two doofus's thought it was a funny idea to dye half the crews hair pink"

"Oh so it actually worked" Tali blurted out before realizing what she revealed, slapping her hands up to where her mouth was

Liara and Shepard stared at the Quarian in disbelief

"YOU WERE IN ON IT TOO?!" They exclaimed

"SHHHH" Tali hissed, frantically covering their mouths "Don't go screaming it out"

Shepard managed to remove the hand from his mouth, not hiding his shocked expression.

"I can't believe this" Shepard stated with amusement and disbelief "Peter and Garrus, I would expect them to do something like this. They'd probably rope Joker, hell even Wrex into a scheme like this, but you?"

"I must ask Tali" Liara spoke up "What compelled you to go along with their prank? What did they say to you?"

Tali fidgeted in place, wringing her hands together nervously.

"Um" She stuttered "Well they…uh…they just asked and….um, you see….they just told me to loosen up and have some fun"

Blank expressions was what Tali received at first, making more nervous than she already was.

"Guys?"

"You can't be serious" Shepard bluntly stated "You did it cause they asked nicely and told you to have fun"

"Well" Tali laughed weakly "It was pretty funny"

Shepard simply through his hands up in exasperation

"You know what, fuck it" Shepard declared "I'm not even gonna do anything about it"

"Shepard" Liara said, concerned about this action

"It's not as bad as you think" Tali said "The dye for their hair wears off in twenty four hours"

"How do you know that?" Liara asked

"I made it with Peter" Tali said fondly "We concocted the formula together. I gotta say, Peter is way smarter than he let's on. He knows chemistry and the various elements so well"

"So you're certain that this will work" Shepard asked

"Of course, we've already tested it a few days ago"

"Huh?" Shepard titled his head "When was this?"

"Peter tested it on himself three days ago when we left the Citadel" Tali explained

"How come we didn't….." Was all Shepard said when he remembered "Is that why he wore his Spider-man suit all day?"

"Doesn't he wear it all the time?" Liara asked

"Mostly" Shepard said "I usually see him wear it after a mission or when he's making more web fluid. Either than that he usually wears civilian clothing"

"I am still amazed that you went along with this, Tali" Liara said "I would more than likely see Joker doing this and perhaps even Ashley herself. This is truly a surprise"

"You learn something new everyday" Shepard commented

Two days later

The Normandy arrived at Feros at last.

And almost immediately there was something wrong.

"Uh, commander" Joker speaking to the team in the meeting room "I've been trying to get into contact with Feros and nobodies responding to my hails. And I mean nobody at all"

"Wonderful" Peter said sarcastically "That's not at all ominous or scary"

"And what do you have to be scared about?" Ashley asked incredulous "After the shit we've seen you do, an unanswered call designates as ominous and scary?"

"Ashley" Peter chided playfully "You really need to catch up on your alien movies"

"Alright people, suit up and keep your guard" Shepard said warily "My guts telling me something is really off"

"Join the club" Peter remarked, now jumping from wall to wall to get to the exit faster "We've got jackets"

The Normandy docked on what of the ports of Feros, finding little to no resistance in the matter.

The team cautiously exited, instantly on guard, walking out onto the bridge.

"We've got company" Garrus said, pointing ahead, and sure enough there stood a lone human, waiting for them.

"C'mon" Shepard said and the team approached the human

The human immediately spoke up when they stood before him

"We saw your ship" He said "Fai Dan wants to speak with you immediately"

"Who?" Peter said, looking to the others. He quickly shook his head "Hang on, who are you?"

"My name is David" the man answered, giving the spandex clad hero a clear look of 'And what are you supposed to be?'

"Ok David" Shepard stepped forward "Who is Fai Dan?"

"Our leader" David said right away "HE needs your help to prepare for the Geth. They're prepping for another push against our forces"

He pointed behind himself

"Please, up the stairs past the freighters"

The moment he ended that sentence, Spider-man jumped at him and grabbed him

"INCOMING" Spider-man shouted as he jumped high into the air just in time to avoid the rocket that came right for them

The team dove out of the was just in time

"CONTACT" Shepard shouted "WEAPONS FREE. WREX"

"Bout damn time" Wrex growling in approval, rushing head first

"Liara, Kaidan get those biotics ready" Shepard instructed "Tali, do what you do best, turn those Geth into scraps, Garrus, Ashley, put a bullet in every Geth you see"

"Gladly commander" Garrus said excitedly, already sniping a Geth trooper

"They've got shields" Ashley shouted over the gunfire and sure enough there were Geth shock troopers throwing down hexagonal shields

"I got 'em" Came the yell of Spider-man, now web swinging without David over the shields to smash down onto the unsuspecting Geth.

Once more, Spider-mans super strength and momentum came into affect as he easily crushed the Geth he landed on.

Spider-man's timely arrival was all the team needed to shoot down the Geth before them, quickly moving up to eliminate the rest.

"Man, you guys are just what we need" Said the voice of David as he came up from behind them

He looked to Spider-man with great appreciation

"I can't thank you enough" David said humbly "I owe you my life"

"Hey man no thanks needed" Peter said modestly

"Can you take us to this Fai Dan?" Liara asked

"Yes" David nodded "Follow me"

David went to the front of the group, leading them towards a series of stairs.

Then of course, Spider-man's Spider-sense went off

"More Geth" Spider-man exclaimed, looking up to find Stalkers

"Oh it's even worse" Peter said dramatically "Copy right infringement"

Spider-man instantly leapt up at them, snagging them with web lines before swinging them into the wall, completely shattering them.

"Geez Pete" Kaidan chuckled "That was some serious overkill"

Spider-man landed before the team, crossing his arms and looking away dramatically

"Well what would you have done if some jerk copied one of the few things that make you unique"

"Unique isn't the word I would use to describe you" Ashley remarked with a grin

"Whatever you say, pinky"

Ash's eyebrow arched up almost comically in irritation.

Shepard chortled, placing a hand on her shoulder

"Easy now, Ash" Shepard said light heartedly "We're here on a mission to help out this colony not kill our comrades"

Shepard turned to David, now serious

"Lead on"

David simply nodded, now climbing the stairs. The rest followed and soon came into a wide opening with makeshift barricades as the first thing they see

David continued forth with the Normandy crew behind him.

This of course garnered the attention of many of the surviving colonists, who eyed them with curiosity and hope.

"We're getting the stares, commander" Kaidan murmured casually

"We are a walking freak show" Garrus reminded the lieutenant "It's only natural we get attention"

"Are you really sure we should consider ourselves a freak show" Tali remarked "Cause Spider-man is the only one who can be counted as a freak"

Spider-man just made a gunshot noise as he pointed a finger at his hand. He clutched it dramatically before falling onto Garrus who stumbled in catching him.

"Oh Tali" He croaked jokingly "Why?"

Then he was promptly dropped to the ground by Garrus

"Ow" He murmured "Jerk face"

"People" Shepard said somewhat tiredly "Come on, less fooling around please. We're here to help, remember?"

"Don't worry commander" Spider-nab said, kicking up onto his feet "That's our specialty"

"This way please" David their guide, said "Fai Dan is just down here"

They entered into an odd makeshift base with a long narrow hallway before coming out the other end

"Ah, David" A somewhat elderly man greeted the group "I'm glad you came back alright"

"No problem Sir" David said excusing himself

"I take it you're Fai Dan" Shepard stated, his tone holding no room for argument

"I'm glad they finally sent someone to help us" Fai Dan said earnestly

"You're a bit late, aren't you" the female beside him stated

"Arcelia" Fai said sternly, making her shut up

"Apologies commander" Fai Dan "Everyone here has been on edge since…"

The leader of the colony could say no more at the familiar sound of

"GETH" Arcelia shouted, taking out her rifle "We've got Geth in the tower"

"Cover that entrance" Shepard said to his team "Kaidan, Wrex, you guys are on point with me. The rest of you keep the colony safe. Spider-man, you're coming with me. Get to a high vantage point and take out any snipers and stalkers"

"Roger that commander" Spider-man gave a two finger salute before jumping up to cling onto the wall, quickly scaling the wall

Shepard, Kaidan and Wrex rushed in from below, engaging the Geth, shooting down many with ease.

"They've got shields up" Kaidan said

"That's where I come in" Spider-man said, dropping down.

Before landing, he quickly shot out web lines from both shooters, whipping up the caught Geth into the air before slamming them both down into two other Geth.

"EH" Wrex cried out half irked, half exited "Don't hog all the fun to yourself"

Wrex's biotics flared up, firing at several Geth, causing them to float in the air.

Rather than firing at them, Wrex chose the Wrex way and bulldozed right through them.

"Geez, he just hates not having a rampage" Kaidan said jokingly, his assault rifle tearing through another Geth

"Well, when you're as temperamental as that guy with some serious 'stress problems' are you really gonna get in his way?" Shepard asked with a grin, the two friend sharing a laugh

Shepard and Kaidan had their fair share of fighting but it was primarily Wrex and Spider-man that tore through the Geth like cotton candy.

When the group had reached its end, the four looked up to see a gaping hole in the structure.

Up above, a Geth ship took off just as they finished clearing out the Geth.

"Must be returning to where ever it is they bunkered" Wrex assumed

"That's our best bet then" Spider-man said "We track down to their main HQ"

"We should return to Fai Dan" Kaidan suggested to Shepard "He knows the whole situation here, most likely"

Shepard nodded to his lieutenant "We gotta make sure everyone is ok"

"Ah what's there to worry about Shepard" Wrex said good naturedly "Sure we've got some lanky crew mates but those guys can easily take care of themselves. Everyone back there is fine"

True to Wrex's words, they returned to see the others alive and well without a scratch and Fai Dan looking to them and Shepards group with appreciation.

"Thanks to you all, the colony is safe" Fai Dan said gratefully

"I'm just glad your colony is safe" Shepard said

"Your concern and efforts against the Geth are greatly appreciated" Fai Dan said

"But it's not enough right now" Arcelia said bitterly, to the scenario then to the Normandy team "They'll be back. They always come back"

"You help us find what the Geth are after and I promise you, you will all get out of here alive" Shepard promised determinedly

"We don't know what they're after" Fai Dan said exasperatedly "They came, they attacked us. That's all we know"

"We do however know where they're stationed" Fai Dan followed up "Their main base is the Exogeni headquarters. A good place to start looking if you want answers"

"ExoGeni?" Ashley said "What's that?"

"The company most of us worked for before the colony was attacked" Arcelia explained "They fund this colony. The skyway leads directly to its headquarters. You can't miss it"

"Of course there is an army of Geth between here and there" Fai said grimly

"We didn't come here expecting it to be easy" Shepard said expectantly

"Then maybe I can get this colony operational again" Fai Dan said with a glimmer of hope

"We'll get going then" Shepard said

"Good luck, commander" Fai Dan said "The elevator should be available now"

Wordlessly, the entire team left towards said elevator, piling in. and like always….

"Could they have at least made it just a teensy bit faster?" Spider-man moaning in boredom

"UGH, are you ever going to stop complaining" Ashley asked in annoyance

"Are you gonna deny my point?"

"No, I'm just getting sick and tired of hearing it. The reminder that all these elevators seem to suck isn't helping"

"Yeah well…" spider-man said, pausing

Shepard instantly looked at the web head

"Is it your spider-sense acting up?"

"Yeah" Spider-man said slowly

"Get ready" Shepard commanded

While the entire team prepped their guns, Spider-man was left in his own thoughts

'Man" He wondered, scratching his head 'what is up with that? It's warning me for just about everything now'

Peter's thought process was interrupted when he ducked to avoid being shot at by a Geth Drone.

The team rushed in, assisting in the colonist scouts in taking down the dozen Geth drones.

"Oh crap" Garrus muttered

"What?" Kaidan said, looking towards what Garrus was staring at before his expression into one of dread as well

"Oh…fuck no" Kaidan said watching Shepard, Wrex and Spider-man approach a waiting Mako

"C'mon people" Shepard shouted over his shoulder as he entered the Mako "Garrus you have the gun"

"I believe it is best we just go through with it" Liara said, though it was clear she was hesitant in doing so

"Agreed" Garrus grumbled, now making his way to the Mako shortly followed after by the others.

"Next stop, Geth base" Spider-man said, comfortably resting on the ceiling "Let's take it to them team"

The gate opened and of course, Shepard gunned it.

Right above them flew the Geth ship from earlier, hovering before their path.

It dropped down several Geth Armatures which now stood in their way.

"Garrus"

"I know"

As Shepard drove the Mako forward, their radio suddenly picked up static radio chatter

"The last batch went south. What were they looking for?"

"It's some kind of comm signal" Tali said, bringing up her Omni tool next to the radio "I can't pinpoint it but there is definitely somebody out here"

"Who the heck would be out here?" Kaidan asked

"Someone with a death wish" Ashley suggested "Or…"

"An ulterior motive" Spider-man said

"That's not dark or ominous" Ashley sarcastically said

Garrus was now firing away at the Geth forces, the Mako gun shredding them apart.

"Commander, I've got more chatter on the radio" Tali spoke up "It's there, but I just can't pinpoint it"

"Any sign of movement?" A female voice said "Lizbeth could still be in there. It's only been a few days"

The Mako continued its drive up the pathway, the radio chatter still going

"She's my daughter" An elderly voice said "I'll wait as long as I have to"

"Mom of the year right there" Peter remarked

The radio and ride remained silent until they entered the tower up ahead through a collapsed garage.

"We've got movement. Some kind of vehicle. Not one of the Geth"

The team looked at each other curiously, each asking the silent question 'do they mean us?'

"I have a location" Tali said "It's who you think it is"

"Shouldn't we be more focused on the Geth?" Wrex asked impatiently

"They may know more of the situation" Spider-man said

"I see an entry way" Garrus said "To your left Shepard"

"Alright" Shepard parked the Mako "Wrex, Peter, Garrus, Ashley, stay with the Mako. I'll go talk to whoever it was on the radio that spotted us"

Those who remained behind watched as Shepard, Kaidan, Tali and Liara left the Mako to speak to the other survivors of the Geth attack.

"So, does anyone else know anything about this place?" Spider-man asked from the ceiling "I mean from the looks of it, there must be something really serious here that Saren would launch a Geth invasion or whatever"

"Saren has some master plan" Garrus said, all intelligently "He has an endgame that we must be ready for"

"There should be a joke installed in there somewhere that I'll think of in a moment" Peter said "Give me a second or two, it'll come to me"

The Mako went silent for several moments, the four occupants idly lounging around though still remaining tense enough to spring into action if need be.

Spider-man's thoughts strayed back onto the issue of his Spider-sense. Not more of an issue, but more of an…odd development?

It has been acting up more, and in a lot of strange ways. Especially the time it lead him and the gang straight to the Rachni Queen and Benezia.

His mind then came back to the one predicament that have yet to exit his mind. How exactly did he get here and…was he ever going to see home again

"Ter…Peter?" Garrus said before saying aloud "Peter!"

"Hmm? Huh? What?" Peter said breaking out of his daze

"Are you alright?" Ashley asked "You zoned out there for nearly five minutes"

"And if you're quiet then that means something is really serious on my mind" Wrex noted "Spill chatterbox, what's on your mind?"

Spider-man rubbed the back of his head, a bit uncomfortable on being abruptly put on the spot.

"It's just that….well I guess I'm just homesick" Spider-man admitted, making the other Mako occupants blink "I miss all my friends from back home. Practically all of them don't even know that I'm gone"

The three glanced at one another. This was certainly a surprise. Peter was acting completely out of character. Well the one they know of well enough.

"Man" Peter took off his mask and slid his other hand down his face, a sad smile clear as day "I can't imagine how my Aunt May is gonna react to all this. She'll have a heart attack at the thought of me going on these missions"

Now that was concerning. Especially for Garrus since he bonded with Peter the most before any of this. He found an odd kinship with the human and began to see him as one of his best friends. Albeit with his own secrets he has yet to fully reveal.

Before Garrus could get a word, Shepard and the others returned, informing them of what lies ahead and a promise Shepard made to see if they could locate the daughter of one of the surviving colonists.

Soon the Mako was once again in motion, taking out any Geth it caught sight as they made their way toward the ExoGeni HQ.

The trip was short, arriving quickly to find it was falling apart everywhere.

"I love what they've done with the place" Spider-man commented, exiting the Mako with the team

"Yeah, it has a nice homey vibe to it" Garrus added

"Reminds me of home" Wrex said offhandedly

"Guys" Kaidan said, pointing towards what looked to be the entrance to a cavern

"Oh a cavern" Ashley said with mock excitement "I just can't wait to see what shits and giggles we'll see down there"

"Shits and giggles?" Tali and Liara said together, looking at one another

"Ignore that Girls" Kaidan said "You'll learn in time"

The team dropped down one by one, walking down towards the cavern, spotting something lying up ahead at the entrance

"Hmm" Wrex said, staring at the creature "A dead Varren"

"A dead what now?" Spider-man asked before quickly ducking down to avoid a bullet

"Whoa geez" Spider-man exclaimed.

Everyone had their guns trained on a human who jumped back in fright, dropping her side arm.

"Oh my god" The woman said "I'm so sorry, I thought you were Geth or one of the Varren"

"Least you have good aim" Garrus said, glancing down at the gaping hole in the animals aim

"Damn near took my head off" Spider-man said lightly

"Easy now" Shepard said to her "Your safe. But what are you doing here?"

"It's my own fault" She said shamefully "While everyone else ran, I stayed behind to back up data. Next thing I knew, the Geth ship latched on and the power went out. I was trapped. I tried to get out but the way was blocked"

"We'll get you out as soon as we find out what the Geth are after" Shepard said

"It's not the Geth" The female interrupted "It's the energy field they put up. They don't want anyone to gain access to the…"

The woman paused, unsure of whether she should continue or not.

"Ma'am" Shepard said sternly "I'm here to get rid of the Geth. I can't exactly do that without knowing the whole situations, so it's very important you tell us what they're after miss…"

"Oh, apologies" The human said humbly "My name is Lizbeth Baynham. And if I were to guess, I'd say the Geth are here for the Thorian"

"Thorian?" Garrus said, tilting his head

"What's a Thorian?" Spider-man followed up, crossing his arms "A plant?"

"It's an indigenous life-form" Lizbeth explained "ExoGeni was studying it"

"What else can you tell us about this Thorian" Shepard asked "Do you know where we can find it?"

"I might be able to, but not with those Geth crawling around everywhere"

"Look we need to get out of here, past that blue field above blocking that doorway"

"Any ideas on how we can shut it down?" Ashley asked

"I don't know exactly but I have pretty good idea that the Geth ship is powering it" Lizbeth said "I've noticed the Geth have been laying power cables everywhere. You could follow those cables, but you're more than likely to encounter more Geth"

Lizbeth then sighed suddenly, feeling overwhelmed by all this

"God, why didn't I just leave with the others?" Lizbeth said, tearing up slightly "For all I know my m other and friends are all dead and I'm the last one here"

"Well I'm happy to say we've got good news for you" Liara said honestly "Your mother is still alive and not far off from here"

Lizbeth's expression brightened, a stray tear falling from her cheek.

"Oh thank god, you don't know how much this means" Lizbeth said tearfully

"You'd be surprised" Peter murmured, only Garrus hearing him

"Before we go" Shepard said "Do you have any knowledge on this Thorian thing?"

"Not much" Lizbeth said lamely "From the research shown, it is a plant type thing. But the real interesting part about is its age. This Thorian is thousands of years old. We don't know the age precisely but we're guessing it probably came before the Protheans"

"The Geth attacked here because they wanted to add a plant to their greenhouse?" Peter deadpanned

"Stay put" Shepard said "I'm gonna go open some doors"

"Then take my ID just in case" Lizbeth said, handing it over to the Spectre "It should get you through any locked doors. There's a doorway on the far side of this cavern on the right to get you started"

"Thanks, we…" Shepard began when Wrex and Spider-man shouted

"Incoming"

Everyone turned to see at least a dozen Varren charging straight for them

"Yikes" Spider-man said, flipping over before webbing it the wall with force, effectively knocking it out

"Where'd these mangy mutts come from" Ashley grunted, shooting one in the head before it skidded dead before her

"Don't know don't care" Wrex said with a shotgun to the face of a Varren

The team disposed of the sudden attack in a matter of seconds.

"Man, is this what you've been going through?" Spider-man said, turning to Lizbeth "Props onto you then"

"Come on team" Shepard said "Let's hurry up. The sooner we can find this Thorian, the sooner we can kick the Geth out here and leave"

"Copy that commander" Kaidan said for the whole team.

Leaving Lizbeth behind for the moment, Shepard lead the team towards the far end of the cave, coming across the door Lizbeth mentioned.

The door automatically opened, revealing staircases.

They walked through and immediately heard banging and a deep growling shout.

"STUPID MACHINE" It roared "ACCESS ENCRYPTED FILES"

"Krogan" Wrex whispered, now stepping up to the front "I've got him"

"Not just yet, Wrex" Shepard said, now beside the warlord "First, let's find out what he's after"

The team climbed the stairs, all the while listening in on the Krogans angry tirade at whatever machine earned his ire.

"No, I don't want to review protocol"

The team reached the top and saw up ahead a Krogan Commander yelling furiously at a VI.

"Damn it" The Krogan leaned in menacingly "Tell me what I want or I will blow your virtual ass into actual dust"

The VI simply said

"Please contact your supervisor for a level 4 security exemption or make an appointment with—"

"UGH JUST SHUT UP YOU STUPID MACHINE" The Krogan roared in rage

"Yeesh" Spider-man said aloud, catching the attention of the Krogan "Somebody seriously needs to take a chill pill"

The Krogan looked back with a growl. He reached for his shotgun.

"Good, I was hoping to killMMPH"

Was all the Krogan managed to say before Spider-man webbed his mouth and entire face shut.

"Oh I'm sorry, we're you saying something?" Spider-man teased

"This'll only take a moment" Wrex said, casually loosening his shoulders before releasing a battle cry and ran right at the Krogan.

He head butted the blinded armored lizard before pulling out his own shotgun and killed the Krogan with one shot to the face.

"Ok then" Spider-man said, looking away "That was pretty disgusting"

"Welcome back Research assistant Elizabeth Baynham" The VI greeted Shepard "What can I do for you?"

"Uh?" Shepard said "How do you know I'm Lizbeth?"

"Your access card identifies you as Elizabeth Baynham" The VI said politely "What can I do for you Ms. Baynham"

"The previous user" Shepard said "What data was he trying to access?"

"Fetching data" The VI momentarily paused "The previous user was attempting to access details on the study of Subject species 37, The Thorian"

"This Thorian" Spider-man said "Is starting to sound like more trouble than it's worth"

"And we've only heard about it twice" Liara said "Clearly there's something important about this Thorian"

"Tell me everything you told the Krogan" Shepard ordered the VI

"I was unable to provide the previous user with any relevant data" The VI replied "Aside from lacking proper access, there has been no new data available on species 37. All sensors monitoring the observations post at Zhu's hope have been inactive for several cycles"

"Zhu's hope?" Tali said "What does that have to do with the Thorian?"

"Species 37 is located within the substructure of the Zhu's hope outpost" The VI answered

"Really?" Shepard said, narrowing his eyes "Tell me everything you know about the Thorian"

"The Thorian is a simple plant life-form that exhibits a sentient behavior uncommon with other flora. Through dispersion and eventual inhalation of spores, it can infect and control other organisms, including humans"

"Urgh" Spider-man shuddered at the thought "Sounds like all the makings of a really bad zombie flick"

"The Zhu's hope control group has yielded interesting results" The Vi continued "Before sensors went offline, almost 85% of all test subjects were infected"

"Well this just sounding better and better by the looks of it" Ashley said darkly

Shepard, reading his Sergeants undertone glared somewhat at the VI

"Are you telling me that ExoGeni knew its people were getting infected" Shepard asked darkly, anger evident

Peter couldn't blame him really. Corporations knowing about the state of their people and not caring about what would happen was sounding too familiar for his taste.

"It was deemed necessary to assess the true potential of species 37"

"So that's why they were acting all strange back at the second refuge" Tali surmised

"We should contact Joker" Garrus suggested

"Agreed" Shepard reached up to his comm "Joker…Come in Joker…Dammit Joker can you hear me?"

"Probably that energy field" Liara guessed

"Then we need to drop that field and get back to Zhu's hope" Ashley said

"Damn right we do" Shepard said, turning back to the VI "VI, what can you tell m e about the Geth ship and the field it's generating?"

"I have limited data on the Geth" the VI admitted "They have effectively blocked all sensors within the facility. I have detected unusual power fluctuations, but I am unable to determine the source"

The little session went on, the team grilling the Vi for everything it k new, from how the Thorian was found, what it can do, its size, the response of the colony and so on.

Once they had gotten everything they needed to know, rather than going the way they came, Shepard decided to investigate the area and stumbled across more Geth, bowing before to some glowing orb between three claw looking things

Easily taking them out, the team analyzed what they were looking a t.

"The Geth must have anchored their ship to the side of the building with these claws" Tali surmised

"Subtle as a boot to the face" Peter quipped "So…we gotta find a way to cut the power coming from the ship right?"

"Easier said than done" Kaidan said, walking around one of the claws

"Maybe we could dislodge the ship" Liara suggested

"yeah, maybe one of these claws have an exploitable weakness of sorts" Garrus added on, investigating his own claw with Peter

There were a few moments of silence as the team investigated the area.

"Is it me" Peter spoke up "Or does it seem way to quiet here"

"This place must hold significance" Liara guessed "When we saw these Geth, they w ere bowing before this glowing orb as if in prayer"

"Hmph, if they're looking for a god, I'll send them on their way" Wrex said

"There's nothing here guys" Shepard announced, looking towards a hallway "Let's keep moving"

The team left t he room, walking down the corridor running into a small group of Geth that proved to be of minimal challenge.

They continued until they nearly walked right into an ambush which was thankfully prevented thanks to Spider-man.

The crew worked like a well oiled machine, getting into comfortable positions, taking out the Geth with precise movements and shots.

"Hey look" Spider-man said, pointing to Geth boarding vessel up above

"Nah, we don't have the teeth to out that" Kaidan said "We'll need to keep looking"

"Hang on" Tali said, looking ahead "That looks like a containment lab up ahead"

"Hmm" Shepard contemplated "Maybe that could be useful in dislodging one of these claws"

"We only need to do one" Tali said confidently "If just take out one, the entire ship may fall. It may not seem like much but it can be a start"

"All in support of the Geth expert say aye" Spider-man said which everyone responded with an 'aye'

"One of these panels could help us in severing that arm" Shepard said approaching one, the rest of the crew fanning out "That claw is positioned above a closing door. If we can get enough PSI, that door can slam shut with enough force to completely severe that arm"

"I think I found something" Peter said, getting everyone to gather around him before a panel with multiple valves extending on both ends into the wall

"This is it" Tali said "This is the door controls"

"Looks like these valves monitor the pressure on the door" Liara keenly observed

"So if we release the right amount of pressure that door should cleave through the Geths claw" Garrus said

Not waiting for any orders, Peter accessed the controls, instructing those near the right valves to turn them on. When the right amount of pressure was gathered, Peter let the door loose.

It cut right through the Geth claw.

What followed was a series of loud clangs and bangs before an emphatic crash and boom rattle the entire tower

"Mission accomplished" Spider-man said, jumping for joy

"This was my kind of mission" Wrex said happily "Kill a bunch of Geth and finish it off with a huge Crash"

Their celebration was cut short by the sound of the Normandy pilot calling them in on their comms

"I repeat, Normandy to shore party. Are you reading?" Said the voice of Joker "Anyone there? Normandy to shore party. Come on, Shepard, Peter, Garrus, anybody, Talk to me!"

"Joker" A very relieved Shepard responded "What's going on, is everything alright?"

"Not really commander" Joker said "The Normandy is on lockdown. Something happened to the colonists. They're banging on the hull, trying to claw their way onto the ship. They're freaking out. It's like the walking dead here commander!"

"Hold your position Joker, we're on our way back" Shepard instructed "Besides, they can't do any real damage"

Jokers response clearly showed he wasn't too thrilled

"Uh…yeah sure, whatever you say commander. We're waiting on you"

"Time to haul ass?" Garrus asked

"Yeah, this place could be crawling with Geth at any minute" Shepard said "Let's not stay and find out how soon"

The team began to run as fast as they can(Spider-man having to hold back), making their way through the maze like tower before running across Lizbeth, waiting for them from where they had entered and left the Mako.

"There you all are" Lizbeth said with relief "C'mon, we need to get out of here before more Geth arrive"

"Hold on" Shepard said sharply "You knew far more about the Thorian then you were letting on. We saw your name written on a lot of the files regarding 'species 37'"

"I…" She stammered momentarily when Joker contacted Shepard once more

"Commander, the Normandy is picking up a lot of Geth chatter over the radio. You've got more incoming"

"Alright, you've got a lot of explaining to do on the way back" Shepard said to Lizbeth

"Everyone back into the death trap" Garrus said, gesturing to the Mako

"Seriously?" Shepard said vacantly "Are you ever going to not call it that"

"Once we survive a drive by without being sick to our stomachs, then maybe" Kaidan said, slapping his commanders back cheerfully getting the stink eye from the Spectre

The ride out and back to the colony outpost with Lizbeth's mother was short, but informative.

It turns out Lizbeth knew more than enough about the Thorian and even the experiments. Though she had tried to stop it, they threatened her to be one of the experiments. Lizbeth tried sending out a message for help but sadly the power cut thanks to the Geth.

Thankfully, Lizbeth supplied the crew with the location of the Thorian and what stands in their way

"A freighter eh?" Spider-man said, rubbing his chin "Haven't really stretched my muscles in a while. How heavy would you say this freighter is?"

Lizbeth stared blankly at him along with Ashley, Kaidan, Tali, and most of the team save for Liara and Shepard who was driving.

"Are you….you can't be seriously considering on moving it yourself" Lizbeth said incredulously

"Trust me, I've seen some crazy shit with this guy" Garrus said to the scientist "But I have to admit peter, that's gonna be a little tough"

"Meh" Spider-man waved him off "I can handle it"

"But still" Kaidan said "What would the Geth want with the Thorian? What does Saren want it for?"

"Well" Lizbeth said cautiously "It does have unique mind control capabilities"

"That is…one of the most generic reasons for a bad guy to get a weird plant thingy…of all time" Spider-man said "It's like he's wearing a shirt that says, hey, I'm generic evil bad guy number 1 except I actually have a name in this story"

The banter ended with the interruption of the static radio picking up on a message from a familiar voice.

"Shzzzz…..shzzzzz….anybody. Is there anybody picking this up?"

The sound of a scuffle was heard followed by a male voice

"Get away from that radio" an angry male voice demanded

"/Static/….this is Juliana Baynham of Feros colony. Please help us…/Static/"

"That's my mom" Lizbeth exclaimed with relief and shock

"We're right near their outpost" Shepard informed

"Sounds like shits going down" Ashley said

"Then get ready" Shepard said, stopping the Mako in front of the entrance to the colony

Lizbeth rushed out with Shepard quickly behind along with Peter, Liara, Kaidan and Garrus. The rest stayed behind with the Mako in case they get attacked.

Lizbeth came to a halt, hiding behind a couple of crates. Shepard signaled the rest to stop and observe what seemed to be a chaotic moment in the colony.

"Jeong, you can't do this" Juliana argued vehemently

"Everyone shut up and let me think" Jeong cried out clutching his head

"If you do this, you will not get away with this" Juliana all but shouted

"Get her out of here" Jeong snarled

"Oh boy" Spider-man whispered, turning to Shepard "Hey Commander, should we…"

"GET AWAY FROM HER YOU SON OF A BITCH" Lizbeth yelled out, running towards her mother

"Well there's your answer" Garrus dryly remarked

Shepard simply groaned in annoyance

"DAMN IT" Jeong yelled, pointing to where Shepard and the rest hid "Come out w here I can see you! All of you!"

The team glanced at one another before shrugging, casually standing up and walking out like nothing's happening.

"Shepard" Jeong growled "Damn it, I knew it was too much to hope that the Geth would kill you"

"Now that's just plain rude" Spider-man said, tauntingly waving his finger at him "I know you didn't win prom king last night, but that doesn't mean you have to be a sour grape about it"

"And who is this freak show" Jeong sneered

"That 'Freak show', is my teammate and a good friend" Shepard said menacingly "I'd pick your words more carefully if you're going to be talking to my team like that"

"Aw you see that, he does care about us" Spider-man said, sniffing jokingly

Jeong glared at the superhero before looking back at Shepard

"You know, I found some interesting facts about you in the ExoGeni database" Jeong stammered out, feeling like he just pulled out an ace in the hole "I know what happened on Akuze. This doesn't have to end like that"

"Easy now, let's just talk about this" Shepard said, deadly calm "Nobody needs to get hurt"

"You don't understand" Now Jeong was panicking "It's not that easy. Communications are back up. ExoGeni wants this place purged"

This lead to a serious of outcries from some of the team, Lizbeth vocalizing her say as well

"This is a human colony Jeong" She said angrily "You can't just re-purpose us"

"It's not just you Jeong said, now sounding a bit hysterical "There's something here far more valuable than a few colonists

"The Thorian" Shepard, stating the obvious

"The what?" Juliana said with confusion

Lizbeth filled in her mother on what the Thorian is and its capabilities, which of course got the response of…

"You won't get away with this, Jeong" Juliana said once more

"So you keep saying" Jeong confidently said "But nobody's going to miss a few colonists"

"I'm sorry did you forget the fact you're standing in front of a human Spectre" Shepard said aloud "I won't let you hurt these people. Either you drop your weapon or prepare to use it"

"If that's the way it has toWHACK" Was all Jeong managed to say before he was knocked out by a wicked right hook, courtesy of your friendly neighborhood Spider-man.

Several soldiers attempted to move in but halted and gave up at the sight of Garrus and Kaidan pointing their weapons at them and Liara flaring up her biotics.

Everyone else stared at the web-head.

"What?" He said awkwardly "He was starting to get on my nerves"

"Well, I would have shot him anyway" Shepard bluntly stated "He was getting to out of control"

"At least it's better than killing each other" Juliana said to herself "So what now Commander?"

"Simple, I do my job" Shepard said "I deal with the Thorian and then we get you all to safety"

"Yeah, but first" Spider-man webbed up the unconscious Jeong, webbing his mouth as well "This should last for a few hours"

"The colonists won't let you near the Thorian" Lizbeth stated "They'd die first. They're under it's control"

"So what are we supposed to do?" Shepard asked "Unlike Spider-man here, we can't all just knock them with brute strength"

"Maybe you can use a nerve agent to neutralize the colonists" Lizbeth suggested "Kind of like a gas grenade"

"Sounds good" Shepard said "We'll do what we can"

"Excellent" Juliana said tiredly but sincerely "Thank you so much. All of you"

"Especially you Spider-man" Lizbeth said happily "Thanks for shutting up this loony"

"Just doing what I do best" Spider-man said

After upgrading the grenades to hold the agent to neutralize Thorian controlled colonists, the Normandy crew was once more on its way back to the Zhu's hope colony.

The Mako stopped at the entrance of the garage to Zhu's hope after Shepard spotted someone crouching before it.

"Um, is that a colonist?" Kaidan asked

"One way to find out" Shepard said, slowly stepping out of the Mako with Wrex and Ashley flanking him.

It was then that they noticed the humanoid had only four claw fingers and its body…well, Peter wouldn't exactly call it a bleached tan.

"Urgh" Ashley scrunched her face up in disgust "What the fuck is that?"

The Thorian creeper stood up before fast walking towards the trio.

"Ok then" Shepard said, pulling out his rifle, promptly shooting it.

The creature burst into a gooey substance, splattering the floor

"Urk" Ashely covered her mouth "Ok, that's disgusting. I think I'm gonna be sick"

"These thing definitely ain't human that's for sure" Wrex stated "Looked more like one of those freaky zombie things from your movies"

Shepard briefly stared at the Krogan

"I still find it strange that out of the entire crew, you're one of the most well verse in human culture"

"I have a lot of free time" Wrex answered with a shrug

"Um…commander" Ashley said a bit shakily, looking ahead at the now open garage

Wrex and Shepard turned back to see at least several dozen Thorian creepers

"Ok then" Shepard said blandly "That is officially horrifying"

"Shepard" Said the amplified voice of Garrus from the Makos speakers "Clear out of the way"

The trio quickly jumped aside as Garrus began raining down on the creepers, killing them all in a matter of seconds.

"Man" Spider-man stepped out from the Mako with the rest of the squad "That was one of the nastiest things I've ever seen"

"Alright team" Shepard said "You know the objective. Find the Thorian. Kill those creepy things but avoid the colonists. Spider-man, Garrus, Ashley, you three will take care of any controlled colonists attacking us. Peter you web them up and the two of you toss those grenades"

"You got it Commander" Spider-man said

"Alright then" Shepard said "Let's kick some ass"

The team rushed in Garrus and Spider-man already doing their jobs as they took down and neutralized four controlled colonists.

Going up the elevator, the team blasted through a bunch of creepers, before being greeted by the colonists of Zhu's hope.

Garrus, Ashley and Spider-man coordinated themselves perfectly, weaving around the creepers that the others killed whilst they incapacitated the brainwashed colonists.

"Clear" Garrus said

"Clear" Shepard said, making the team move up ahead

"Man, the bursting creepers reminds me of house of the dead" Spider-man said, pinching his nose to avoid the smell after the last of the creepers were dead

Instead of responding to Spider-mans comments, Liara pointed out…

"That crane" She said "This must be the freighter blocking the entrance to the Thorian"

"These are the controls right here" Tali said, catching everyone's attention "They seem easy to control"

Tali effortlessly bypassed whatever was needed to operate the crane and the team saw the crane move aside the large freighter, revealing stairs that descended below the colony.

"Oh sure, an underground cavern" Spider-man quipped "Cliché much?"

"It works within the parameters when you think about it" Kaidan said knowingly

"You humans and you're weird speak" Garrus said

"You Turians and your speak talk paint face" Spider-man shot back condescendingly

"Touché"

Before they could descend down to confront the Thorian, Shepard whirled round with his pistol causing everyone else to do the same, pointing it at Fai Dan.

He honestly looked like hell.

"I tried to fight it" Fai Dan spoke in a strained voice "But it gets into your head. You can't imagine the pain"

The team looked at one another, unsure of how to react.

"I was supposed to be their leader" Fai said with genuine remorse and sorrow "These people Trusted me"

Fai Dan seemed to struggle with his own body as he tried his best to prevent his hand from reaching for the pistol attached to his hip.

"It wants me to stop you" Fai said, pointing the gun at the crew

He then had a determined gleam in his eyes

"But I won't" Fai gritted out, now forcing his possessed body to point the pistol at himself before declaring "I WON'T"

"NO WAIT" Spider-man cried out

It was too late as Fai Dan had already shot himself.

Spider-man gaped, what the hell was wrong with him? Why didn't he do something sooner? He just watched a man he could have saved kill himself.

Garrus saw this instantly. He approached Peter and placed his hand on his friends shoulder.

"We'll avenge him" Garrus whispered firmly "We can't let his death go in vain"

Peter just hung his head in anger and shame.

The walk down to the Thorian was met with relative silence save for the occasional unidentifiable growls.

Soon the crew arrived at what seemed to be the bottom floor.

"All right" Liara said "We just need to find this creature and determine what it…what it…."

Seldom to say that the entire team was utterly speechless at what they were looking at. The thing itself didn't seem to mind that it was being watched by eight thoroughly disgusted sentient beings.

"Oh look" Peter managed out "The stuff of nightmares. Isn't this wonderful? I won't be able to sleep normally for a week"

"I think I'm gonna hurl" Kaidan said, his face green, his eyes not leaving the sight of the very disgustingly slimy tentacles

"Don't remind me" Ashley said, equally colored from staring to long

"That" Liara said slowly "Is disturbing"

Tali nearly wretched "Oh Keelah I think the smell is in my helmet. If I were to choose getting sick then looking and inhaling this I'd rather be sick"

"Can we not talk about it, please" Garrus weakly begged, his hand covering his eyes from the monstrosity that hung before them. He actually looked pale "I don't think I can hold down my lunch any longer"

"You weak little Pyjaks" Wrex grunted, though he himself was having a hard time looking at whatever the hell that was

"That does not look like any plant I've ever seen" Shepard said airily "This may be….a pain in the ass"

The Thorian suddenly began to move, moving in a way that resembled one gulping in air before something splorched on out from its…..mouth….is that what you call it? Looks more like a haunted vagina….anyway, something came out in a very disgusting way.

It was a green Asari.

What would the Normandy do other than gape save for Kaidan who couldn't take it anymore. He rushed over to a corner and hurled.

"Um" Spider-man said, staring at the Green Asari "Mazel Tov, it's a girl"

"Should we kill it" Wrex asked "I feel a sudden urge to shoot it"

"I'm right with you" Garrus said, holding up his sniper rifle

"Invaders" The Asari clone abruptly spoke, making the crew jump back a bit "Your every step is a transgression. A thousand feelers appraise you as meat, good only to dig or decompose"

"Yeah whatever you say Rehash" Spider-man said "Just remember to keep your end of the restraining order. Keep within one thousand yards of all things that don't smell like you"

"I don't think that distance would cover it" Garrus murmured

"Hear hear" Tali agreed

"I speak for the old growth, just as I did for Saren" The Asari went on "You are within and before the Thorian. It commands that you be in awe"

"Sure, right after we cut it down" Ashley threatened, raising her rifle

Shepard raised his hand to prevent Ashley from doing something to rash

"You gave something to Saren" Shepard said "Something I need"

"Seriously?" Peter said "I wouldn't want anything from this botany nightmare"

"Saren sought knowledge of those who are gone" The Asari went on "The old growth listened to flesh for the first time in the Long Cycle. Trades were made. Then cold ones began killing the flesh that would tend the next cycle. Flesh fairly given! The old growth sees the air you push as lies! It will listen no more!"

"Alright I see how it is" Shepard said, pulling out his rifle, making everyone tense up for battle "Release the colonists you control NOW. Or we blow your sorry ass to kingdom come"

"No more will the Thorian listen to those that scurry" the Asari said menacingly "Your lives are short, but have gone on too long"

"That's code for OPEN FIRE" Shepard yelled, the entire crew gunning down the Green Asari.

"More on our right" Ashley shouted, turning her gun to fire at the Thorian creepers

Shepard for a brief moment glanced back at the Thorian, noticing it's many limbs stretched out around the area. Could that be…?

Shepard will focus on it in a moment. Right now he needed to clear the Creepers with his squad.

It was relatively easy. Spider-man just webbed any back that got to close and the others finished it off.

"Seriously, the level of nastiness with this thing just seems to climb every second" Ashley said, her face pale

"Hey Shepard" Spider-man called over the Spectre "Check this out"

Shepard walked over to the node attached to the wall coming from the Thorian.

"These look like supports for freaky plant thing" Spider-man said

"So if we take this out, will it fall?" Tali asked

"I don't think so" Shepard said, looking back to the Thorian, taking note of its various limbs "My guess is all of those limbs are its support. If we can take them all out, that thing will fall down into that hole"

"So we take out the supports" Spider-man declared, firing two webs at the base of the node "Everybody stand back"

Spider-man heaved with all his might and a moment later, the node completely detached itself from the wall. The teams jaws dropped. Still, after witnessing everything Spider-man had done, he still found ways to amaze them.

Shepard managed to shake himself out of his stupor.

"Split up into pairs of two" Shepard said to the crew "Stick together, take out those zombie freaks and detach those limbs"

Naturally, Garrus and Spider-man paired up together, Wrex with Ashley, Tali with Kaidan and Shepard with Liara.

Garrus and Spider-man had little problems in taking out the Thorian Creepers and any other Green Asari produced by the main Thorian. The two's dynamic with each other was improving to the point where they began saying less and less in their attacks together.

The duo took out two more Nodes, spider-man pulling both off with ease.

The two were fighting off creepers when all of a sudden the Thorian cried out one final time in pain before slipping then falling out of sight. The Thorian was dead and gone.

"Whew" Garrus said tiredly, leaning on a wall "Man, this day has been way too long. Rachni and collapsing caves are one thing. But this? I'm pretty sure this doesn't qualify as gardening"

"Nah, we're like….exterminators?" Spider-man said, changing web cartridges

"Guys" Tali chimed in on the comms "Get down here, near the entrance. We found someone of…interest"

Peter and Garrus checked over their equipment briefly before jogging down to where they had entered the chamber. There, the two saw the rest of the crew speaking to a very familiar looking Asari

"Saren's pretty quick to betray his own people" Shepard said cynically

"He betrayed the Thorian too" The Asari said mirthfully "After he had what he wanted, he ordered the Geth to destroy all evidence of its existence"

"Heya guys" Spider-man announced his and Garrus's presence "What are we talking about?"

"Shiala here" Shepard gestured to the Asari "Knows some valuable information on Saren"

"Oh goody" Spider-man jumped around giddily while Shiala stared blankly at the superhero, mouth agape

"I'm sorry" She said slowly

"Ignore him" Ashley said wryly "You were saying?"

"What? OH yes, yes of course"

Shiala explained how Saren knows that Shepard is pursuing him and searching for the conduit at the same time. His attack on the Thorian was an attempt to keep him from gaining something called the cipher.

When asked on what it was, Shiala stated that the visions Shepard had received back on Eden Prime were not meant for humans, but Protheans. Shiala went on to tell them of how the Thorian existed long before the Protheans and long after their extinctions.

In short, this cipher was a collection of knowledge, memories, experiences and all things needed to think and be like a Prothean.

Shepard said that that was what he needed to stop Saren.

Shiala complied and said the only way for him to attain this knowledge was for the two of them to mind meld.

Accepting, Shepard stepped while Shiala prepared herself.

"Hmmm, wonder what we'll get" Peter said

"Hopefully the edge on finally stopping Saren" Garrus said determinedly

Moments later, the mind meld finished with a staggered Spectre.

Peter and Kaidan held Shepard steady, his eyes dazed slightly.

"You now have the Cipher" Shiala said tiredly "Just as it was given to Saren. The ancestral memories of the Protheans are now a part of you"

Shepard shakily wiped sweat off from his forehead, being supported by Peter and Kaidan in case of a collapse.

Liara went before Shepard, worry on her face.

"Commander" Liara said slowly "A knowledge bond can be very traumatic. Are you alright?"

Shepard didn't answer at first taking in a few deep breaths. He glanced at his friends that helped him stay up, the three sharing silent messages. The lieutenant and web-head got Shepard to stand upright again but still kept hands on his shoulders just in case.

"I saw…something" Shepard said warily "It still didn't make any sense"

"Do not worry" Shiala said "You have been given a great gift; the experience of an entire people. It will take time for your mind to process all of this information"

"That may take a while" Ashley quipped

"Yeah, Shepards thought process isn't up to par like ours" Spider-man said with a snicker

"You two are so lucky I have a headache right now" Shepard said with a smirk

"Let's just get back to the ship" Garrus suggested "It's been an eventful day, to say the least"

Shiala said that she would stay behind and help the colonists rebuild, feeling guilt for causing some of its suffering.

They all made their way back up to the surface finding themselves rained down with applause with the surviving colonists.

Juliana and Lizbeth spoke on behalf of the colonists, wishing them safe travels, and hoping to see them again one day.

"What's this?" Spider-man asked as Lizbeth gave him a metal box

"Something that I've been studying in my spare time" Lizbeth said "But I haven't gotten any leeway with it. Only that it's alive and symbiotic in nature"

"Symbiotic?" Peter said "There's something in here that can bond with other organisms?"

"Not necessarily" Lizbeth said lamely "It's a little difficult to explain"

"So you're just handing me off what could be valuable research"

"I never really wanted it" Lizbeth said honestly "I just found it. It didn't react to anything, harm anything or even do anything. Maybe you will have better luck understanding it"

"Sure" Spider-man said slowly, before shrugging "Eh, what the heck, haven't done anything sciency in a while. Could be fun studying this"

Scene cut

At long last, everyone was back on board the Normandy. They had their little meeting and went off in various directions, Shepard staying behind to report to the councilors.

Spider-man went to go change into his civilian clothes before meeting up with Garrus for lunch…or dinner….or whatever they were going to eat together.

He arrived at the cafeteria and saw Garrus already waiting for him with a tray of food for himself and a tray of food for Peter. He also found Wrex and Tali joining them

"Hey guys" peter said, sitting down next to Garrus "Glad to see you two join us for lunch…or dinner…or whatever, just glad you can join us"

"Glad to be here" Tali said happily "It's not often I eat with friends"

"I don't eat with friends" Wrex bluntly said

"Well you do now" Peter said wittingly "After all, what are we here for?"

"Grub" Wrex said, chomping down on what looked like Krogan steak or something

"So…" Tali said awkwardly "About today. Pretty crazy right?"

"I agree that it was a long day" Garrus said "But regarding that thing…"

"Let us simply agree to never speak of what we encountered from the chamber of secrets ever again" Peter suggested

"Agreed" All three aliens said in unison.

Avengers tower

Captain America A.K.A Steve Rogers stood on the balcony of Avengers tower, HQ for the worlds mightiest and greatest superheroes.

Inside there was a bit of a party going on for the team, everyone being present.

There was laughter, games, stories, drink and friends all around the floor solely dedicated to the assisting the Avengers.

Steve smiled, giving a quick glance back towards the people he considered family.

"So, stepping out again eh?"

"What can I say Clark, I always like these silent moments alone" Steve said, looking towards the Man of Tomorrow, Superman.

Though he wasn't wearing his signature costume, Clark gave off the aura that Superman exuded. The calm strength in his morale and the belief of never backing down from a fight.

"Yeah well, Diana is getting a bit lonely inside without you" Superman teased his good friend

"Ha ha" Steve said "Last I saw her, she was with Nat Dinah and several other ladies gossiping. Thanks but no thanks"

Clark just grinned now standing beside his friend, watching the glow of the Manhattan skyline.

Superman sighed

"It's so rare to have these moments" Clark said a bit somberly "To have these brief moments of peace. Just to spend the hour with all your friends, talking about stupid things and interests, not a care in the world"

"We, better value them then" Steve said "My dad always told me the best moments are the moments where he could just be with his loved ones, not caring about the rest of the world just for a bit"

The two patriotic boy scouts were unaware of the Amazonian princess observing them alongside the god of thunder.

"There they go again, talking about all their life issues" Dian said with a smile before scrunching up into a pout "I'm Steve's girlfriend yet he always goes to Clark to talk"

Thor laughed at his friends plight

"A Diana" Thor chuckled, placing a hand on her shoulder "Captain America knows to speak with you the topics he knows you understand best and can help him with"

"But isn't it both of our responsibilities to speak with one another? To understand each other better?"

"That, milady is true. But those things also take time" Thor said gently "Jane told me all of this and thus we have had a beautiful love for each other"

Wonder Woman couldn't help but grin at the sappy advise given

"I never took you for such an expert for these things Thor" Diana teased "Thor, god of thunder and guru of love"

"It is an honorable title" Thor said gallantly, puffing his chest up while Diana laughed

Over at the table hockey area, Quicksilver and Flash were engaged in a super sonic war with the puck.

"Can you even see where it's going at this point?" Black Widow asked

"It is best not to think about it" Wanda said dryly

"I'm pretty sure the score display is broken" Hal Jordan pointed out

"I think it's fun" Element Woman said in her cartoony voice

"Can't deny that" Nat agreed

Tony Stark, Bruce Wayne, Bruce Banner, Peter Parker, Victor Stone and Cisco Ramones were currently lounging back, talking about nonsensical science stuff that only they would get.

"So if we can take the ionic (blah blah blah science stuff) then we can (Blah blah even more science stuff) to create a better working engine" Tony said

"Sounds doable" Cisco said, rubbing his hands together excitedly "When do we get started?"

"As soon as Banner and I finished up with some schematics" Bruce Wayne answered "It will take some time but we should be done within the week"

"Why couldn't you just let me do it" Cyborg had asked

"Oh Vic, and take away all the fun" Peter said

"Yeah, though we're all geniuses here, not all of us can have a super computer for a brain" Tony added

"I guess" Victor conceded

Over by the pool table Falcon was having a game with Scott Lang, with Carter Hol, Ronnie Raymond and James Rhodes as spectators.

"Check it" Scott said confidently, smacking the white ball into three clustered solids knocking them apart into separate holes

"Aw come on" Falcon whined "That is such BS"

"Hey, that's the way the game is" Scott said cheekily

Ronnie leaned over to Rhodey "Should we tell him?"

Rhodey snorted "Nah man, this is way too funny"

Hawkman crossed his arms, grinning at Sam's misfortune

"Well played Palmer, Lang. well played you two"

Omega

The anti-thesis of the Citadel

Law, order and democracy was its way of life

Deceit, monarchy and an iron fist was Omegas way of life.

A haven for mercenaries and the worst the galaxy had to offer.

And all of it was under direct control of the pirate queen of Omega, Aria T'loak.

Nothing didn't happen on Omega without her knowing about it.

In her own words 'I am Omega'.

And yet….

One anomaly now wanders the nominal capital of the Terminus system.

This one key figure seemingly appeared from nowhere, had absolutely no connections to this place or any reasons to here and yet, there it was.

Clad with a nearly pitch black cloak, boots, sleeves, gloves, everything, the figure moved about Omega silently, a shadow in this mercenary infested world.

At least that's what the stranger thought it was.

Like the human cared.

'Ha, human' The figure thought with a chuckle 'What a strange thought'

The figures train of thought was interrupted by the arrival of a Batarian and a Turian, coming up from behind. They stopped expecting the other to do so but the stranger he surprised them by just walking on, like nothing was there

Both had their eyes locked onto the hooded human, guns ready in case this person does anything stupid.

"Human" the Turian said briskly

Said 'human' halted in his tracks, turning back to look at the two.

"Can I help you gentlemen?" The voice was male and condescending

The duo narrowed their eyes at the blatant disregard for them he held in his tone.

"Watch your mouth human" The Batarian growled "You have no idea who you're fucking with"

"Is that supposed to be scary" The man said tauntingly, pretending to shiver in fright "Oh no, the big ugly alien is gonna be mad at me"

Said Alien couldn't explain why he was getting so riled up by this guy. Something about his devil may care attitude was really driving him up the wall. Luckily, his Turian partner noted this and quickly intervened.

"We're here on behalf of Aria" The Turian announced, pride laced in his voice

"Who?"

The two blinked

"You lost me there" the man went on "I got no idea who you're talking about"

"Hmph, newcomers" The Batarian murmured "Allow me to fill you in. basically, you're on Omega. And on Omega there is but one ruler. Aria T'loak. And if you want to survive out here without any problems, you just gotta follow this one rule"

"Don't fuck with Aria" The Turian finished dangerously

The area was silent, the three not saying or doing anything.

The Batarian and Turian held smug looks, believing that t hey had gotten through to the newcomer.

"Heh" the figures head bobbed up and down a bit before it flung back

The man was now howling with laughter.

"HAHAHAHAHA OH MAN" the hood didn't even fall from his face as he continued to laugh before them

The two were clearly shocked and out of their element here.

Normally that would garner some kind of response in the form of understanding, acceptance, fear and a slew of other reactions. But this? They weren't paid or trained to handle this.

"OK" The hood was still cackling a bit "I'm good, I'm good"

"Are you done?" The Batarian said irritably

"Hey listen pal" The man said casually "If your little princess wanted to see me so badly she could have come herself"

"I don't think you get your position at the moment" The Turian said now raising his weapon "Either you come with us willingly or we force you to do so"

"Oh? And judging by your little stage act, I'd say you've actually done it a few times" The hood 'complimented' "At least whoever this princess is, she got some willing thugs"

"Oh you are just asking to be shot at" the Batarian said a savage grin "Please, give me another reason to do so"

"Stop it" The Turian said sharply "Aria wants him back unharmed"

"Well in case you haven't noticed, HE is being rather difficult"

"So true" the Man continued to joke at their expense "You boys are smarter than you look. That's a good thing at least"

The cloaked man shrugged his shoulder

"Alright I'll go see this Loki chick"

"It's Aria T'loak" The Turian growled

"Whatever" The m an waved off without a care "But…it'll be on my terms. So go back to your little dairy queen and I'll be there when I'll be there"

The Batarian had it

"Listen to me you little shit, disrespecting me is one thing, but you do not…"

"Goodbye" The man simply snapped his fingers and there was an explosion right before their eyes.

Dust and smoke covered the area, completely obscuring the view of Aria's henchmen

"Anto" The Turian coughed, waving his hand back and forth to clear away the smoke "Are you alright"

"I'm fine Gainen" Anto said

The smoke eventually cleared out, revealing that the hooded man was gone

"Aw shit" Gainen cursed "What the fuck are we going to tell Aria?"

"What else can we tell her?" Anto said bitterly "Come on"

Unbeknownst to Anto and Gainen. Said man was standing atop a building on the edge, observing them

"Hmm" The man looked ahead "Let's see what else Omega has to offer"

Afterlife

Aria stood upon her 'throne', overlooking the entire club.

Today had been another run of the mill days for her. Mercs, useful information and so on all circled around the pirate queen but she was used to it.

She relished in it really but didn't show it.

No, she had too much control, a perfect figure that was unbreakable.

"So let me get this straight" Aria said slowly "This human had no weapons on him, no visible tech, nothing on him and you couldn't bring him in?"

"That's just it Aria" Gainen said shamefully "That explosion he did, the way he talked, everything! He just fucked with us the entire time"

"Cheeky bastard" Anto growled "Who the hell does he think he is?"

Aria silently contemplated her next move on this subject.

When she had first gotten word of this figure, she merely brushed it off, saying it's no one of importance to her. There were always some people hiding on Omega.

But for the past several weeks, she had been hearing this cloaked figure had been cropping up just about everywhere on Omega accept for Afterlife.

Aria chose to see what they had on this unknown human, scouring security footage and files.

What she found was nothing. There was nothing on this human that just appeared here on Omega. And by that, there was literally speaking absolutely no information regarding this human.

For some reason, this peeked her interest as she began to call out contacts from across the galaxy to see what she could find on this guy. Call it a personal challenge

The results came back the same. No information. Not a shred of data on this mysterious figure in black.

More importantly, this figure hasn't been sited anywhere else in the galaxy but here.

Aria dispelled those thoughts for now, opting to sit down on her luxuries couch.

"You two are dismissed" Aria said "Return to you posts"

"Yes Aria" the two said together, leaving their leader

Around Aria was her typical guard accompanied by several Asari dancers.

Aria grabbed her drink when…

"Wow, so this is your hangout spot" a taunting voice echoed around her little private area

The guards and dancers tensed up at the sudden voice, now pulling out their weapons

Aria in the meantime remained where she sat, unmoving but ready for anything.

"Gotta admit though" the voice went on "I was hoping for something a bit more dramatic"

The male voice sighed "Well I guess you'll have to do what you can with what you got"

"Reveal yourself" Aria said calmly, a hint of danger in her tone

"Oh dear" The voice continued to mock her "Have I angered the princess. My oh my, how disrespectful of me"

"SHOW YOURSELF" One of her guards shouted angrily

Aria raised her hand to silence him, now standing up.

"I believe it is best not to test my patience" Aria said

"And what are you gonna do?" The voice taunted "Shoot the air with your blue crap? Yeah, that'll turn some heads. I can see it now in tomorrow's headlines. 'Pirate princess gone crazy: was she on her period?'. That'll sell I bet"

Aria remained unfazed while her 'entourage' began glancing at each other nervously all thinking the same thing. Who the hell was this guy and was he insane?

"Hmm, looks like words aren't working right now" The male voice said "Well, I'll find the right words eventually. For now….well I guess it's time for the theatrics"

Everyone jumped back in shock as some kind of weird oval like shape sprouted right before Aria before quickly vanishing to reveal the man in the black hood. The guards were too shocked to even point their guns up at the intruder

"So nice to meet you, Princess" The man said, chuckling "I hope I didn't interrupt anything important"

Now it would take a serious almost galactic effort if someone wanted to shock the Pirate Queen of Omega.

Yet what she just saw came pretty close to it. Even she couldn't deny that whatever just happened isn't something you see everyday.

She may be centuries old but even she had to admit, this was truly a surprise.

Aria slowly stood up, just a few inches shorter than the man before her.

"I heard you personally invited me to your establishment" the man said cheekily "That's great and all but…"

Now there was something else radiating off of him. Everyone felt it. A dangerous aura that was actually starting to make the area hotter.

"I've lived my whole existence putting up with the nonsense of underlings coming to me to do their bosses jobs" The man said in a dangerously calm voice "Let's just say, things didn't end so well"

Aria didn't even flinch but she was beginning to sweat from the heat. Where the hell was it all coming from? Was it from him? Was he doing this somehow?

The air abruptly became cool again when the m an laughed aloud

"My god, you are quite the tough cookie" The man said with glee, his serious demeanor gone "Oh, I'm going to have so much fun here"

The man casually walked back, snatching a drink out of the hands of one of the guards, all of which hadn't moved from their spots.

"So tell me Princess" The man downed his drink "AH. You gotta a name or are you just gonna stare at me all day"

Aria's lip twitched a bit, noticeable only to the man in the hood

"My name, if you hadn't learned already, is Aria T'loak"

"Nice, strong effective to the point"

"It" Aria interrupted the man "Is only natural that you reveal yourself"

"Hmmm" the man hummed thoughtfully "You haven't really bothered me much up until now. Then again I guess I wasn't that important to begin with. But since you asked so nicely princess"

The man reached up and removed his hood.

Out shot gravity defying red spiky hair.

The human face held a very confident and cocky grin, eyes a bright emerald color wit h reversed purple teardrop tattoos under each eye

"Who am I you ask? Oh my name is Axel. Got it Memorized?"
