Ok, still going strong, loving the reviews and support and the participation I get from you guys.
It's looking like Kaidan and Ashley are going to survive Virmire but still I'm giving you guys one last chapter. This is the last one, after that we shall see as to what happens.
The Kingdom Hearts/Mass Effect crossover is going to happen. Those two teasers you saw are just a taste as to what you could see. The question is, main character. Who is it going to be? And I'm making it clear here and now, it's either Axel or Roxas. Granted both will eventually be in the universe but who will be the main focal point. That's something I have yet to decide on. Who knows, maybe they'll both be the main characters.
Still that crossover ha ways to go. And you'll see the occasional teaser here and there.
So moving along with the story, we are like a two thirds of the way done with the first ME campaign. And then we enter the Three year gap(Yes it's three years just like I said before) where we will see the story focus solely on Peter living his new life in the galaxy while trying to find a way home.
Along Came a Spider Chapter 12: A vivacious, violent, volatile Villain Verily verified on Virmire
"So let me get this straight" Garrus said to Shepard from his seat in the comm room
"We're basically going to Virmire to help out a few Salarians because of a distress signal and we're going in having absolutely no idea as to what we may face"
"Precisely" Shepard said heartedly
"So the usual then?" Spider-man said from his chair, currently in his new black suit
"Pretty much" the Spectre said with a shrug "Why? Did you expect something different?"
"Well, some diversity wouldn't hurt" Kaidan admitted "Those missions we've had with Wrex, Tali and Garrus were actually pretty fun"
"OH OH" Spider-man raised his hand, waving it around like a kid in a pre-school class "Can I have the next personal mission? I have this really important situation regarding some serious need for closure"
"PFFT, knowing you it's probably not worth stressing over" Ashley scoffed with a grin
Spider-man feigned a heart attack and toppled over, clutching his heart.
"Ack" Spider-man jokingly coughed "Ack, Garrus, get my pills. I'm suffering a heart attack"
"Oh get over it you big baby" Ashley shot back, still sporting a teasing grin
"Regardless" Shepard, finally speaking up to regain control, though clearly amused "This is the only lead we've got on Saren and the Conduit. This could be the turnaround we need in stopping that psycho so let's not mess this up. Dismissed"
A chorus of 'yes sir' and the team left to their usual spots in preparation for the mission at hand.
However
"Peter, a word please…" Shepard called out to the wall crawler
Sharing a quick glance with Garrus and Tali, the former of which shrugged in response, Peter stepped back and approached Shepard.
"Something ya need, Commander?" Peter asked politely
"Don't think I haven't forgotten about" Shepard gestured with his hand "This new look you're sporting"
"Er yeah…was it that obvious?" Spider-man said, sheepishly rubbing the back of his masked head "I'm just going for new look is all. No need to get all riled Commander"
Shepard just deadpanned at the wall crawler. The two stared at one another before Spider-man squirmed and whined
"Oh alright" Spider-man said in a defeated tone
Straightening up, Peter pulled off his mask and went to sit down.
"So you remember that Lizbeth from Feros gave me a metal container as a 'departing gift' of sorts?" Peter recounted getting a nod from the Spectre
"Well in that little container was a lifeform" Spider-man went on, holding up his mask to observe it for a moment "A lifeform that was old. Like really old. Aside from freaky plant number 1, I'd be haphazard to say that this lifeform was around even longer"
"And you know all this?" Shepard questioned "How?"
"I've been studying the thing for a few weeks now during our my spare time around the ship" Peter answered "Took me a while to get a basic understanding of it really. It always appeared very docile and calm and only responded when it was in the presence of other life. Don't worry Shepard, it ain't like those face hugging freaks from alien if you're wondering"
"So what does it do then?" Shepard asked "Is it a danger to the crew?"
"No" Peter said firmly "If this thing were a threat it would have done something sooner. Lizbeth explained to me that it didn't seem to do much"
"Then why is it on you? And more importantly, why did it take the shape of your suit?" Shepard asked
"Well, it took me a while to figure it out and after take a sample of it and a sample of my DNA…"
"Wait" Shepard interrupted "Why would you need a sample of your DNA? Did you think it tampered with you or something?"
"More like enhanced" Peter said, now excited "Turns out, this creature is a symbiote of sorts"
"Symbiote?" Shepard briefly contemplated on the word "Isn't that one of those working mutual relationship type things?"
"Pretty much yeah" Peter said with a nod "A lifeform finds a home with a host. While the host supplies the lifeform with a home, the symbiote in turn gives something back"
"And what would that be?"
Now the web-head grinned
"It's the best kind of package deal commander" Peter said giddily "Everything feels faster and stronger now. I feel like my strength just doubled…everything doubled! I've never felt so powerful….."
Peter glanced down
"It's actually kinda scary" Peter admitted in a low tone "All this power. All these enhancements….Why did I get all this now?"
Shepard was actually a bit put off at this sudden shift in character by Peter. This must've rattled him a bit. Nonetheless, the human Spectre knew exactly what to say next.
"Hey" Shepard said with an amused smirk, now punching the hero in the shoulder "What the hell is wrong with you? Where's that over bearing, over confident big head web head that I've come to call a friend?"
Spider-man stared at the commander blankly before chortling a bit
"I'm kind of a little lost there, Shepard"
"Come on Peter" Shepard placed a hand on his shoulder "If there's one thing I've learned from you is that you'll do what's right no matter what happens to ya. Sure you may have gotten this new upgrade, but I still see the same Peter Parker who stepped aboard this ship. A loud chatterbox with no off button and a good heart"
Spider-man stared at Shepard for a few moments
"Bromance moment?"
"Bromance moment" Shepard confirmed
"YEAH" They both high fived and jovially laughed together
"Alright" Shepard wiped a tear away "It's best you get ready. That armor of yours done?"
"Oh yeah" Peter said excitedly, rubbing his hands together "It looks so awesome and it's not blocky so I can still go wild on the field"
"That's what I like to hear" Shepard said approvingly, patting Spider-man on the shoulder
With that, Peter left the comm room, going straight to his work station. There at the table lay his new armor.
Looking at it intently. Peter immediately went to work on putting it on. As he slipped on every piece, he felt the suit itself adjust and integrate itself with the armor.
He held the helmet before him, it's white lensed eyes staring right back at him. Turning it around, Spider-man slipped it over his head, the helmet fitting snuggly over him.
Peter then heard a whistle, turning back to see Garrus nodding at him, clearly impressed at what he was seeing.
"Now that is a pretty damn good look Pete" Garrus said, giving him a thumbs up "Really looks intimidating"
"That's what I like to hear" Spider-man said appreciatively as he began stretching out and rotating his shoulders. The armor seemed to be holding itself together quite well. Within his helmet, there was a Heads up display that showed everything was functioning properly which relieved Peter(FYI, it's the End of Earth armor as I've stated before).
"Everything seems to be in order" Peter commented, checking his wrist pieces. He opened a compartment revealing multiple web cartridges. Closing it with satisfaction, peter gave one last roll of his shoulders before performing a perfect set of three back flips in the air with grace and ease.
"Aw yeah" Peter said, landing in a crouching position "This is gonna be awesome"
"Damn right it is" Garrus said eagerly "So what can this bad boy do?"
"Since I've only started working on it" Peter said "I've only managed to incorporate the basic things I've already done for my original suit. But the current cool new feature is something that I was inspired by from an enemy of ours"
Peter punched his fists together and electricity danced around his arms
"Figured I should have something like this since all we seem to be fighting is Geth specifically"
"WHOA" Garrus exclaimed "Now that is awesome. Where can I get me one of those?"
"Sorry man, Custom" Peter declared proudly "But I'm willing to make you a set bud"
"I'll hold you to that" Garrus said "So we've got some time to kill. Any ideas on what you want to do to pass the time?"
"Besides calibrating the Mako gun" Spider-man quipped "Garrus, buddy, we need to find you a better addiction"
"It's not an addiction" Garrus said with the equivalent of a Turian pout "Just a habit"
"Right, just as much as I don't know when to shut up" Spider-man remarked "You better not tell anybody I said that"
"Fine" Garrus said in amusement "So what should we do?"
"Well, we know that if we try pranking Ashley and the rest of the crew, we'll probably not make it to Virmire" Spider-man mused
"So that's out of the question" Garrus stated
The two just stood there in silence, several moments just flying by.
"I've got it" Peter said with a snap of his finger, grabbing a box he had beside his work table.
Opening it up, Peter pulled up a small black box with a bunch of what looked like remotes of sorts.
"What's this?" Garrus asked, taking one of the 'remotes' to examine it
"A game system I picked up just before we left the Citadel" Peter said casually making Garrus go a little bug eyes
"You bought a game system?! When the hell did you pull that off?!" Garrus said excitedly "I've heard from some of my Turian friends that these are the most awesome things humanity ever provided to the galaxy"
"Good to know that we have such an impact. And to answer your first question. I Literally got this several hours before we took off from the Citadel" Spider-man said "I was passing by to get to the docking bay when I passed by this beauty and I knew I just had to get it. It does get a little boring here sometimes"
"Can't disagree with you there" Garrus said, now more excited "Come on, let's go hook this up somewhere. I've always wanted to try one of these"
"I know just the place" Peter said, lifting up everything for the game system
Four hours later
Shepard let out a sigh of tension and boredom. He was mentally preparing himself for Virmire as he had a gut feeling that Saren is there and waiting for his arrival. But he couldn't deny the fact that the Normandy was a day or two away from Virmire so until that time he had to keep himself busy some other way.
He did have a nice long chat with Liara T'soni earlier, speaking for nearly two hours. He couldn't deny it at this point, there was something there between them. But there was a part of him that was cautious. Shepard couldn't deny that there was a really innocent beauty to Liara as well as a form of innocence.
'God I feel like a sinner right now' Shepard mentally thought, chortling to himself
He downed a drink he had in his hand before getting up out of his room to leave and go about the ship, see if there was anything to do.
Shepard went about the ship, first choosing to go to Joker to see how the pilot was only to find somebody else in the pilot's seat.
"Where's Joker?" Shepard asked the current pilot which made the man jump in fright
"Jesus, you startled me Commander" the young Pilot said
"Sorry about that…" Shepard said, his silence indicating for the pilot to
"Ah, Ren sir" The pilot introduced himself "And Joker went down somewhere with Spider-man and Garrus. Said they have something really awesome for the three of them"
Shepard's eyes widened somewhat. He dreaded, praying that it wasn't a prank.
"Did they say where they were going?" Shepard asked
"Yeah, the comm room" Ren answered
"Thanks" Shepard said appreciatively
"Sir" Ren said in respect.
Turning about, Shepard made his way to the comm room. On his way, he had noticed Kaidan wasn't at his usual spot on the ship but he didn't mind. Right now he just needed to get to the comm room.
Arriving at the door, the door entered upon Shepard being in close proximity to it, revealing
"AURGH" Shouted the disgruntled voice of Garrus Vakarian "Did humanity need to create such a hard video game? I mean come on, did they have nothing better to do?"
"Shut up get an arcane spell ready" Kaidan said aloud to the Turian, intensely focused on his screen before him
"Guys, we've got incoming" Joker said nervously from his seat "Reinforcements, armored trolls"
"Ah Shit" Wrex growled out "Spidey we need support spells, NOW!"
"Coming right up" Spidey said "Armor and attack is up guys. Unleash hell"
Shepard just stared blankly at the five men who let out a Hoorah shout before charging at their enemies in the digital world they were so engrossed in.
"I would ask what was going on here" Shepard spoke up, yet that didn't even distract the group "But somehow, I feel like I might regret asking"
"Hey Shepard" Joker said, positioning his arms in an angled position on the same level as his face "Wanna join in? We've got a spare remote!"
"Can't deny Shepard" Wrex grunted with savage glee as his Krogan character unleashed a storm of lava onto a horde of trolls "There's something REALLY satisfying about this game. This is probably one of humanities best contributions"
"Thanks" Peter, Kaidan and Joker said simultaneously
"Oh Did anybody see that" Garrus exclaimed from his seat "Triple kill with one arrow. One shot, try topping that off"
"Challenge accepted" Kaidan said, leaning in
"Ok then" Shepard said, sitting down besides Joker "Let me join in the next game since it's so exciting"
Two hours later
"Ok so last I checked in my part of the town, an Asari wise master said the sword of the Krogan thunder master was said to be in the Kong mountains" Shepard informed the rest of the team, eyes glued to his screen
"The Kong mountains" Garrus pondered "They don't sound to threatening"
"Oh I wouldn't be too sure of that Garrus" Kaidan teased
"Yeah, please tell me you haven't heard of the legendary Rashamon, the Krogan dragon king?" Joker said, grinning madly
"The Krogan Dragon King?" Wrex said to himself, a wide smile appearing on his face at the thought of a Krogan so powerful
"Guys, I think the Dragon king is the least of our concerns' Spider-man spoke up "Have you forgotten there's still the fiery planes and the molten guardian we have to fight through to get to the mountains"
"And from where I heard, a human and a Salarian shaman told me that you have a one in three chance of getting the right mountain" Kaidan chipped in "I think they were other players as well. Told me that if you get the wrong mountain you just fight a stone dragon and the mountains are randomized again"
"Dang it' Joker frustrated "So how do we do this then?"
"I think I have an idea" Shepard said, his character pulling out a black bag
Opening it, Shepard pulled out an odd purple orb from the bag and jogged away from the team.
The team was obviously confused by Shepards behavior, watching him as he rounded about the corner. The next they all knew, there was a bright flash of light on their screens and they were now standing before Shepard
"WHOA" the entire group practically yelled
"What was that?!" Garrus said in amazement
"Party summon orbs" Shepard said proudly "Got them from one of the shops here. a really nifty item"
"Dude, that is so awesome" Spider-man said
Before they could continue on their 'journey', stand in pilot Ren chimed in
"Commander Shepard, we've exited FTL and are inbound to Virmire in half an hour"
The entire group groaned in disappointment
"You heard them guys" Shepard said, somewhat agitated that their game had to end "Let's get ready"
"Yes sir" said a gloomy team making the Spectre laugh at their mood
Half an hour later, the entire team was assembled, prepped and ready to go.
"Nice armor, Pete" Ashley said eyeing the hero up and down "Looks really intimidating"
"That's what I said" Garrus said "I think it's the eyes"
"Or maybe the sleekness of it" Tali commented
"At least you could still see some muscle on him" Wrex added "Otherwise, you still look like a stick"
Spider-man instantly deflated, hunching over whilst his arms dangled like a marionette.
"Why is the galaxy so cruel to me" Peter whimpered comically
The team snickered at Spider-man's behavior, now getting more adjusted to each others behavior to the point where this was common place
"Everyone pile in" Shepard said, gesturing his head to the Mako "It's time"
The crew did just that, all sitting down waiting patiently until…
"Commander, I'm picking up a signal" Joker said through the comms "Must be our infiltration team"
As the ship descended towards the ground of Virmire, screens within the Mako were showing the terrain of the planet
"Whoa" Kaidan said, eyes wide in alarms "Check out those defense towers"
"Drop the Mako" Shepard ordered Joker "We'll go in hot and take them out"
"I'll get you in underneath their radar, Commander" Joker said confidently
"Hold onto something" Shepard said as the Normandy accelerated
Everyone gripped their seats or any handles nearby while Spider-man casually simply stayed where he was on the top of the Mako.
The Normandy swooped by and dropped the Mako at rapid speed.
"We've got a clean drop, Commander" Joker said
"Stay out of range and continue evasive maneuvers until we take those AA guns down" Shepard instructed
"I know the drill. Meet you at the camp once those towers are off-line. Joker out"
The Mako began driving at full speed towards their objective.
It was at this point that Spider-man took note of the multiple cliff sides around them
"Hmm" Spider-man contemplated, eyeing the tall, building like rock formations of Virmire
"Incoming Geth" Tali exclaimed
"I've got them" Garrus said, finger already on the trigger
"I can help out" Spider-man said
"How exactly?" Kaidan asked
"Hey" Spider-man said eccentrically "This is my kind of turf"
Without saying another word, Spider-man opened the door out of the Mako and jumped high into the air before firing a web line, swinging between to large rock formation.
"Are you sure it's a good idea in letting him go out there like that?" Liara asked worriedly, watching Spider-man swing, crawl, run and jump besides them high above in the air
"Spider-man has shown he can handle himself" Shepard said, evading of string of rockets sent from the Geth ahead "Besides, this'll be the perfect time for him to test out his suit and its workings"
Spider-man was rocketing towards the Geth ground forces, passing by the Geth Armatures.
He was zipping towards a Geth rocket trooper, when, at the very last second with his incredible agility and flexibility, flipped over the trooper. The instant he landed on his feet, Spider-man snapped back, punching a hole right through the center of the chest of the Geth.
"Ok" Spider-man murmured weakly "I think that was a bit of overkill"
Spider-man didn't have time to contemplate any further as his spider-sense kicked into high a gear as more than two dozen Geth platforms all attacked him at once.
"Oh crap" Spider-man said, leaping into the air by doing a corkscrew
"Uh guys, a little help here"
"Yeah yeah yeah, I'm on it show-off" Garrus said, firing at a line of Geth Troopers
The troopers went down easy, giving Spider-man some breathing space as he snagged a Geth Juggernaut with a web line. With a mighty pull, push and proportionate strength and all, whipped the Juggernaut towards the eye of an armature.
"How awesome am I?" Spider-man boasted jokingly
"Very, now keep moving" Shepard said
"Aye aye Captain" Spider-man saluted, instantly ducking to avoid the rockets sent at him
"Geez, rude much" Spider-man complained, jumping from one place to another, effortlessly kicking and punching back Geth into the wall with enough force to shatter them upon impact
"We've got several Armatures coming up ahead" Liara informed
"Save me one" Spider-man said, now scaling the walls of the rocky formations. Quickly reaching the top, Spider-man saw three Armatures positioning themselves in the path of the Mako.
The Mako immediately veered right, the gun already ablaze, firing at one of the armatures.
The other two returned fire, landing a few hits on the all terrain vehicle though the shields managed to take the brunt of the hits.
Peter took this chance, activating his electric gauntlet features.
"Let's see if this works" Spider-man said to himself before jumping off the edge of the cliff, dive bombing the nearest Geth Armature.
His fists punched holes into the Armatures head, allowing him to inadvertently latch onto the behemoth.
"Not what I was going for, but I'll take it" Spider-man said, activating his shock feature, short circuiting various parts of the Geth.
Spider-man was about to let out a triumphant quip when his spider-sense blared for a moment before he got a face full of explosion. The explosion caused him to fly off the head off the Geth armature
"WAH" Spider-man cried comically as he plummeted towards the ground
"Oh wait" Spider-man said, a yard away from the ground. He simply adjusted his body and landed perfectly on his two feet.
He sprang up with his hands raised in the air in victory, watching the headless Armature keel over.
"AND THE CROWD GOES WILD" Spider-man yelled ecstatically
"Save it for after we've cleared these assholes out" Shepard said from the Mako, driving circles around the last standing Armature.
The Armature was about to fire at the Normandy with a decently powerful beam type weapon when it's gun was yanked to the side, making it fire to a random rock.
The armature tilted its head to glare at the web-head, who stared back at it
"Uh…I didn't do it"
That was all Garrus needed as he fired a clean shot through the head of the distracted Geth.
"Keep moving" Shepard commanded and they did just that going through a pattern of clear driving and swinging before encountering a unit of Geth, quickly dealing with it then moving on.
The Spider-armor was proving to be truly able to stay up to par with Peter's super powers. And the special additions to it were just as good. Web shots that can pierce through armor, web spheres that can explode into nets, electric armor and a good supply of webbing that good last Pete days if he manages it properly.
Along their rampaging drive, they encountered several Geth Colossus which Spider-man took care of with great gusto. The moment he spotted one, Spider-man would always charge at it with full force. He felt even more powerful and confident in doing so with the symbiote enhancing his already incredible powers.
Eventually, the crew reached a compound of sorts that held one of the AA gun towers interfering with Normandy landing properly.
"We must find a way to disable their artillery" Tali said
"Alright, Tali, Garrus, Ashley, you're with me" Shepard said "We'll go in and storm the place and shut down the gun. The rest of you stay and watch out for any outside enemy forces. Spider-man, get to high ground"
"Copy that Commander" Spider-man said, already climbing to the top of the mountainous formation the base was built into.
Reaching the top, Spider-man scanned the area, spotting their next target up ahead
"Found our next gun" Spider-man said through the comms
The moment Spider-man finished his statement, Joker chimed in
"I'm reading that the grid is down, Commander" Joker said "On approach to Salarian base now. Out"
"Be advised" Joker added "You've still got one more base to get through"
"Thanks for the heads up Joker" Shepard said, exiting the small base "Everyone back into the Mako, let's keep moving"
After one more push through a Geth base, the Mako was headed towards the Salarian camp.
While driving there, Joker left an interesting message
"Commander, Normandy's touched down at the base. But it looks like we're grounded" Joker said wryly "The Salarian captain can explain when you get here"
"Uh" Spider-man said, landing atop the Normandy as it drove on to conserve web fluid "Should that merit some concern?"
"Like Joker said" Shepard said seriously "We'll find out when we get there"
"Speak of the devil" Ashley said "It's up ahead"
The Normandy was 'parked' off nearby some mountains while up ahead there was a Normandy crew member, Adam, conversing with a Salarian
"So what exactly are we supposed to do now?" Adam questioned
"Stay put until we come up with a plan and for your ground team to get here" the Salarian said
"Ask and ye shall receive" Spider-man, announcing their arrival.
Shepard gave the engineer a nod, a silent command of 'Head back to the ship'.
Adam nodded in turn, and left
"Are you in charge here?" Shepard asked the Salarian "What's the situation?"
"I'm Captain Kirrahe, Third Infiltration Regiment STG" The Salarian said in a militant tone "You and your crew have just landed in a hot zone. Every AA gun within ten miles has been alerted by your presence"
"So nothing new then?" Peter remarked, making Garrus and Wrex snort in good humor, the rest of the crew cracking a grin
"Yes pretty much" Kirrahe took it in good stride
"So what are we supposed to do in the meantime?" Shepard asked
"We stay put until the Council sends the reinforcements we requested" Kirrahe stated
The crew just shot glances at one another. Some shrugged while Peter rubbed his head
"Uh…" Peter said
"We are the reinforcements" Kaidan announced
"What?" Kirrahe said in disbelief and shock "You're all they sent? I told the Council to send a fleet"
"That seems a bit like overkill" Ashley commented
"Besides, we've got a man who can match half a fleet" Tali said confidently, placing a hand on Peter's shoulder "That must count for something, Right?"
"Eh-heh" Spider-man said nervously "Let's not get any ideas Tali….please?"
"We're sorry" Shepard said earnestly "We couldn't understand your transmission. They sent us to investigate"
"That is a repetition of our task" Kirrahe said sourly "I lost half my men investigating this place"
"So what have you found then?" Liara asked
"Saren's base of operations" Kirrahe answered "He's set up a research facility here, but it's crawling with Geth and it's well fortified"
"Saren's here?" Shepard said, his demeanor now turning more serious "Have you seen him?"
"No" Kirrahe shook his head "But his Geth are everywhere, and we've intercepted some comm chatter referring to Saren"
"This is his facility, there's no doubt about it" Kirrahe finished with conviction
"But what is he doing here?" Garrus asked the obvious question "This seems like an odd place for Saren to do 'research'. Whatever it is"
"He's using the facility to breed an army of Krogan" Kirrahe said grimly
This made everyone's head snap towards the Kirrahe, eyes widen in shock
"How is that possible?" Wrex asked
"Apparently Saren has discovered a cure for the genophage" Kirrahe said in a tone that brokered no argument
"Hang on a sec" Spider-man raised his hand "What's so important about curing this Genophage?"
"It was the solution to the Krogan problem" Wrex said bitterly
Kirrahe followed up by saying "We introduced the Genophage to the Krogan population after the uprising. To quell their numbers. Without it, the Krogan will quickly overrun the galaxy. And these Krogan follow Saren"
"Ah fuck" Garrus blurted out
Shepard thought about this for a moment
"The Geth are bad enough" He began "But a Krogan army?...He'd be unstoppable"
"Exactly my thoughts" Kirrahe said "We must ensure that this facility and its secrets are destroyed"
"Destroyed?" Wrex said a bit angrily now "I don't think so. My people are dying. This cure can save them"
"If that cure leave this planet, the Krogan will become unstoppable" Kirrahe reasoned although with a bite "We cannot make the same mistake again"
Wrex silently strode up to the Salarian, getting up in the face of the Captain
"We are NOT a mistake" Wrex growled, jabbing a finger at the Salarian
Without another word, Wrex walked away from the rest of the group
"That could have turned out better" Spider-man murmured
"Will he be a problem?" Kirrahe asked the commander "We've already got enough angry Krogan to deal with"
"He's my problem" Shepard said sternly "He'll be fine. I'll talk some sense into him"
"I'd appreciate that, Commander" Kirrahe said honestly "My men and I need to rethink our plan of attack. Can you give us some time?"
"You do what you need to Captain" Shepard said respectfully "But make it as soon as possible, we need to get off this rock soon"
"Agreed" Kirrahe said nodding "We won't be long. In the meantime, make yourselves comfortable for the time being. If you need any supplies, talk to commander Rentola. He should be in one of the tents nearby"
Kirrahe walked off, leaving the team to ponder their next course of action
"Looks like things are in a mess" Kaidan said right away
"You got that right" Peter agreed "This whole situation just screams trouble"
"Yeah" Ashley said "I wouldn't be so worried if it wasn't for Wrex. He looks like he's going to blow a gasket"
"With good reason" Spider-man said
"So what should we do then?" Tali asked everyone "We can't just leave him here"
"Think I should go talk to him?" Shepard said to the team
"You are the leader here Shepard" Liara said
"So it's your call" Spider-man said "Personally, I think you should"
"Seems to be the best course of action" Garrus said
"It wouldn't hurt" Ashley said before… "Well, it might actually"
"Not helping" Spider-man quipped
"Just do it carefully" Ash suggested
"I'll be careful" Shepard said "But be ready…just in case"
That last part he seemed to say directly to Spider-man which made the web-head nod.
The team dispersed amongst the camp but Garrus and Spider-man stayed together, positioning themselves a good distance from Shepard who was now going up to the teams Krogan who was currently shooting his gun into the water.
"How do you think it'll go?" Garrus asked
"I don't know" Spider-man responded "Wrex is actually a good guy underneath all that plated skin and armor"
"Can't deny that" Garrus said, chuckling now "Can't believe after all my years I'm calling a Krogan a friend"
"Life works in mysterious ways" Peter said
The two watched Wrex and Shepard converse, only hearing mumbles
"Man, I wish I could hear them" Garrus said a bit irked
"Same here" Peter said
Suddenly Shepard and Wrex had their guns trailed at one another causing Spider-man and Garrus to jolt slightly before tensing up.
"Hang on" Spider-man said, grabbing Garrus's wrist, preventing the Turian from pulling out his rifle "I'll focus my Spider-sense. See how it goes"
"Are you sure about that? Spirits knows what Shepards saying to him"
"Just trust me" Spider-man said
The two watched as Shepard suddenly stood up straight putting his gun away while Wrex's still remained trained on the Spectre.
Shepard spoke for a bit, when they saw Wrex speak before holstering his gun making Garrus and Peter sigh in relief
"ah crap" Peter rubbed his chest "That was two seconds away from a heart attack"
"Here here" Garrus moaned "I'd rather not have to shoot my own comrades"
Shepard came up to the two of.
"That could've taken a turn for the worse, Commander" Spider-man remarked "What is it about this team that likes to play it close to the chest? It's like you want a heart attack"
"There'd be no excitement around here" Shepard said in turn getting a chuckle out of the web-head
"True enough" Spider-man said
"Well that'll hold me over then" Garrus Said with a tired sigh "Call me over when it's time to do crazy shit"
"Will do" Shepard said to the Turian. He then gestured his head for Spider-man, indicating for him to follow.
"So what is our plan, Shepard?" Spider-man asked "This seems like a volatile situation"
"You could say that again" Shepard said dryly "I don't think this was in the Spectre training manual"
"Hey, if anything, you know you've got us to back you up" Spider-man said, tapping his hand on Shepards shoulder
Shepard sent the arachnid themed hero an appreciative look.
"Thanks Peter"
Spider-man and Shepard now stood alongside Ashley and Kaidan in front of Captain Kirrahe.
"Thank you for speaking with the Krogan" Kirrahe said gratefully to Shepard "The assault on Saren's base will difficult as it is"
"I assume that means you've come up with a plan" Shepard said
"Of Sorts" Kirrahe said whimsically "We can convert our ship's drive system into a twenty kiloton ordinance. Crude, but effective"
"Nice" Ashley said, nodding her head in agreement "Drop that nuke from orbit and Saren can kiss his Turian ass goodbye"
"Why do I feel like there's a catch to this" Spider-man said earning a glare from Ashley "What? You don't honestly think it's that simple do you? Even if we do have a nuke now"
"Unfortunately, your oddly armored companion is correct in that regard" Kirrahe said regretfully "The Facility is too well-fortified for that. We'll need to place the bomb in a precise location"
"So where do take the nuke" Shepard asked "And how do we get there?"
"The bomb must be taken to the far side of the facility" Kirrahe answered "Your ship can drop it off, but we'll need to infiltrate the base, disable the AA guns and pacify any ground forces"
"You want us to go in on foot?" Kaidan said "We don't have enough men!"
"IT does sound a bit risky" Shepard said "Is there no other way?"
"No, but I think we can work around that" Kirrahe said "I'm going to divide up my men into three teams and hit the front of the facility. While we've got their attention, you can sneak your "Shadow" team in the back"
"It's a good idea" Shepard said but ruefully added "But your people are going to get slaughtered"
"We're tougher than we look commander" Kirrahe said proudly "But it's true. I don't expect many of us will make it out alive"
"So much for optimism" Spider-man muttered
"And that what makes what I'm going to ask even more difficult" Kirrahe hesitated momentarily "I'll need one of your men to accompany me. To help coordinate the teams"
"That's a bold request, Captain" Shepard said with an edge to his voice "This require a specific skill. Someone who knows alliance communication protocols"
"I volunteer, Commander" Kaidan said straight away
"Not so fast LT" Ashley interrupted "Commander Shepard will need you to arm the nuke. I'll go with the Salarians"
"With all due respect, Gunnery Chief" Kaidan snipped "It's not your place to decide"
"Why is it that whenever someone says "With all due respect" It really mean "Kiss my Ass" Ashley said angrily at Kaidan
"Enough" Spider-man said aloud in a stern voice surprising his three teammates "I'll be enough. I'll help out with the assault on the base"
This further shocked them
"Peter, you can't be serious?" Ashley said with actual fear "It's way too dangerous"
"Oh and what haven't been doing for the past few months wasn't dangerous at all" Spider-man joked "No, I'll help the Salarians out. Shepard will need all of you guys to back him while the Salarians keep the big bad busy. Besides, do you know anyone else as infuriating as me?"
"Peter are you sure about this?" Shepard asked, a subtle hint of concern
"Shepard, it's me" Spider-man said
Shepard gave him a look before relenting
"Alright, but no heroics" Shepard said good naturedly
Spider-man simply grinned beneath his helmet
Kirrahe then spoke once more
"I will have the ordinance loaded onto the Normandy and brief your crew on its detonation sequencing" Kirrahe said "Do you have any questions before we go, Commander?"
"Ready when you are, Captain" Shepard said
"Excellent. Then if you'll excuse me, I need to prepare my men"
Kirrahe left the four
"Well, I guess this is it guys" Spider-man said jovially "Don't do anything stupid while I'm gone you three"
"You are, the absolute last person to be telling us that" Shepard said with humor
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure you've got a bookcase worth of the stupid things you've done in your life" Kaidan said, grinning
"You wouldn't be wrong in that regard" Spider-man said truthfully
The mood seemed to shift suddenly when Ashley went up to the hero and gave him a firm hug.
This in turn surprised the men to see the usually no nonsense, crass and sarcastic gunnery act like this.
She pulled back with a sad smile on her face
"Just be sure you come back to us in one piece, 'kay little bro?" She said quietly but they heard her
Spider-man was momentarily silent before he hugged Ashley once more.
"Ah don't worry about me Ashley" Spider-man said warmly "I'm the one who should be worried here. I'm not gonna be there to save your everyone's ass when you need me most"
Ashley just grinned, a tear at the edge of her eye.
"Of course you will" Ashley said, walking away to get ready
Kaidan silently placed a friendly shoulder on peter, shaking it once, giving him a certain look that Peter nodded to. Kaidan then left, leaving Shepard and Peter.
"Spider-man" Shepard said slowly "Are you sure about this?"
"What's with all this doubt?" Spider-man said jokingly "I don't see why it's such a big deal"
"Peter" Shepard said, no humor in his tone now "I don't want you to go and do something you and I will regret"
"Wouldn't be the first regretful decision I've done" Spider-man said to himself
"Hmm?"
"Nothing" Spider-man waved "Listen, it's just….this is what I have to do. I'm the best guy on the team right now that can cause the most commotion and destruction long enough for you guys to finally catch Saren's sorry ass. This isn't my first crazy tango"
"Let's just say I'm not comfortable with everything going on here"
"Shepard, you've got every reason to be" Spider-man said "But I have to be the o ne to do this, I'm the best man for the job"
"How can you be so sure about that?" Shepard interrogated
"Hey" Spider-man said in total seriousness "With great power, there must also come great responsibility"
Scene cut
Spider-man shifted from side to side, getting a feel for his armor and his newest companion in this whole charade.
"Alright Sym" Peter said "Our first real test"
He was snapped out of his thoughts when Kirrahe approached him.
"Spider-man yes?" Kirrahe said, offering up his hand "I extend my gratitude for volunteering for this mission. It means a great deal to me"
Spider-man simply took his hand and shook it firmly
"Hey man, you just keep your eyes out for your friends, leave the crazy shit to me" Spider-man said boisterously
"I'm starting to like you Spider-man" Kirrahe said with a grin "Are you ready?"
"As I'll ever be"
Kirrahe nodded, now turning to his men. He then contacted Shepard
"Comm check. Do you read me Commander Shepard?" Kirrahe said
"It's fine, give us any info if Spider-man starts talking too much, Let's move"
"OH you just HAD to say that" Spider-man said
"Good" Kirrahe said "We'll start our push. We'll try to make it to the AA guns but it might up to you to finish the job"
"That's what you Spider-man for" Garrus this time replied
"You are all seriously banking on this one fellow" Kirrahe noted "I really hope he lives up to your expectations. And if you see anyway to undermine their forces, the help would be appreciated"
The teams were now divided up and Peter saw a fortress built into the mountains, multiple AA guns around and on the fortified base.
"Shadow is on the ground" Kirrahe stated "I repeat, Shadow is on the ground"
The Salarian teams split up and began jogging forward towards the base. Up ahead, one could clearly see the wall of Geth that blocked their entry way into the base.
"Spider-man, you're with my team, Aegohr" Kirrahe said to the vigilante hero "Mannovai, Jaeto teams, Move! Time to get some attention"
"All you had to do was ask" Spider-man said loosening up his shoulder "Everyone, get ready to fire at the Geth. It's time I showed you guys why I'm called Spider-man"
And with an almighty jump, Spider-man was already a hundred plus feet off the ground, shocking the STG unit.
"My word" Kirrahe muttered "This is our backup?!"
Almost instantly the moment Spider-man was seen in the air, all Geth began firing away at him.
With true grace, balance and agility, Spider-man easily dodged all the gunfire, getting closer and closer to the wall of Geth.
"I could really use the help gentlemen" Spider-man called out to the still shell shocked Salarians, already pouncing on the first Geth he could get close to
The Salarian captain shook himself out of his stupor, now putting on a determined face.
"Let's go men, we may have our golden ticket out of here" Kirrahe said with a surge of strength he didn't have before
The STG let out a battle cry and charged forward, opening fire onto the Geth.
Most were quickly shot down due to their attention being solely focused on spider-man was now punching and kicking his way through two dozen Geth
"Aegohr, let's move in" Kirrahe said "Assist Spider-man"
"Look out for those rockets" Spider-man called out, giving the team the chance to take cover behind some rocks. One Salarian popped out from his cover and expertly shot it clean through it's 'head'
The rest of the team got out from their cover and renewed their attack on the Geth.
"This Mannovai team" A Salarian said through the comms "We've got multiple Geth Juggernauts incoming"
"Hold on tight guys" Spider-man responded, already swinging over to them "I'm on my way to help"
Spider-man took a page out of the wrecking crews Wrecking ball and had a long web line and at the end was a bunch of Geth smashed into scraps being held together by Spider-mans Symbiote webbing.
Spider-man made it across the battlefield in a matter of seconds, spotting the Juggernauts that were pressing their assault on team Mannovai.
"FORE" Spider-man shouted swinging his web ball at several Juggernauts.
The force behind the wrecking ball sent the Geth flying into the mountains and base, their bodies shattering into pieces upon impact.
He tossed the ball aside, landing in between the Geth Juggernauts, his gauntlets sparking up. Peter began punching Geth left and right, the electricity overloading their circuitry causing them to collapse.
"Glad to see these are working so well" Spider-man said, holding up his hands to appreciate the armor which of course means
*BAM*
*ZAP*
"OH COME ON" Spider-man whined like a baby "I JUST HAD THESE MADE"
Spider-man instantly web swung for a higher vantage point, quickly looking over his armor
Peter groaned to see that the shock feature was out of commission but was glad to see everything else was still functioning properly.
Shaking his wrists, Spider-man jumped off the wall and landed by smashing a Geth beneath his feet.
"Back in the game" Spider-man exclaimed
He snagged two Geth troopers and proceeded to use them as…I don't know extensions? To pound the Geth forces, whipping down on groups of Geth.
Once they had worn down, Spider-man spun round with all his strength smashing them into a group of Geth troopers.
Spider-man didn't relent, jumping onto a Juggernaut's chest. Placing his hands on the Geth, Spider-man bounced off the Juggernaut, two web lines extending out from his wrist. With a heave, the Geth flew off the ground. Spider-man swung his arms down, the Geth following this motion onto the ground.
"Spider-man, we need a push up the middle" Kirrahe said over the comms
"Coming right up" Spider-man said, dispatching the remaining Geth around him
Seeing that this area was clear for Jaeto team to move up, Spider-man dashed off to join Aegohr team in their assault.
Spider-man saw multiple Geth troopers, Juggernauts, and new Geth known as destroyers coming down on Kirrahe's team.
"Shepard how's things on your side?" Spider-man said, moving to aid Kirrahe in repelling the Geth
"We've got something" Shepard replied "Access to the base security. Should be able to cut the alarms from here. Might be able to trigger alarms on the far side of the base even"
"Think you can handle the extra workload, Spidey?" Garrus taunted
"Please" Spider-man scoffed "Overwhelming odds are my specialty. Do what you can, we're holding out fine here for now"
"Yes" Kirrahe chimed in as well "With Spider-man aiding us we are doing magnificently. May make it out of this in one piece after all"
With the rest of the team
The six were currently cleaning house, easily taking out the Geth that stood in their path with perfectly coordinated teamwork. It was as if they had been doing this for years.
Along the way they had met a disturbing resistance in the form of Kirrahe's indoctrinated fallen Salarian comrades.
Currently they were near the Ion containment cell room in front of an odd sight.
"So why does Saren have a floating glowy rock in his base being guarded by a legion of Salarian zombies?" Garrus asked as everyone stared at it
"Frankly, I really don't give a shit anymore" Ashley said "Can we just ice this asshole and go home?"
"Agreed" Shepard said "Let's keep moving, Spider-man is still fighting a battle out there and Kaidan is still working on the nuke"
The rest of the team moved on, but Garrus stayed momentarily, his eyes analyzing the rock. The Turian detective shrugged his shoulders and went up, grabbing the rock putting it away.
"Souvenir" Garrus said, jogging to catch up to the others
Back with Spider-man
The Web-head was wreaking havoc on Saren's forces. He single handedly did the most jaw dropping thing imaginable in front of the Salarians by pulling down an AA gun to the ground, BY HIMSELF.
The Geth had diminished greatly and now Krogan, Salarian, Turian, Asari, Batarian and Vorcha mercenaries were moving to engage Spider-man and STG.
Thankfully, the STG had only suffered one loss thus far and a few injuries with the help of Spider-man tirelessly providing the distraction and help they needed in punching a hole through Saren's army.
But it was just not enough to turn the tide. They were stuck in a stalemate. Spider-man was single handedly holding back the waves of Saren's soldiers but those waves alone were the reason as to why they couldn't make any legitimate progress.
Spider-man chose this time to swoop down and crouch next Kirrahe who was currently waiting for his gun to cool.
"Hey Kirrahe, hope you're not taking a break" Spider-man joked
Just as the captain was about to respond, the entire ground began to shake, as if an earthquake was occurring. Everyone looked ahead and saw a gigantic ship rise up from out of nowhere and move in towards Saren's base
"Shepard" Spider-man contacted the Spectre "What the hell was that?! You've got the kraken coming in to attack you guys"
Instead of hearing Shepard, he instead heard Joker speak in a frantic tone
"That ship, Sovereign?" Joker said "IT's moving. I don't know what you guys did back there, but that thing just pulled a turn that would shear any of our ships in half. That thing is headed your way. Whatever you guys are doing, do it fast"
"Hey Shepard" Spider-man tried again "Please tell me that Nuke is almost ready?"
"Ask Kaidan, we're trying to secure a landing zone" Shepard said, sounding like he was running
"Well we've taken care of the AA guns" Spider-man said, though he himself was starting to get a little winded
"And for that I thank you" Joker said "I'm on route to your position right now, Shepard"
"Spider-man, we're at the rendezvous point" Shepard said
"Trying to get there now" Spider-man said, turning to t he Salarians "Alright everybody get behind me, we're going to power our way through
"Shit" Wrex said on Shepards end "Kaidan, you've got Geth coming your way"
"Then I'll hold them off" Kaidan said with fierce determination "You guys get Spider-man and the Salarians out of there"
"Kaidan are you crazy?!" Spider-man shouted "That's suicide"
"Dammit" Kirrahe growled out, interrupting Spider-man "Spider-man look"
Peter looked ahead and his face filed with dread as a Geth Colossus was making its way towards them
"Well this just took a turn for the worst" Spider-man said exasperatedly "Shepard, we're gonna get held up right now, we've got incoming Geth reinforcements inbound. They've brung in a Colossus"
"Stay put. We're on our way" Shepard said, not even giving Peter a chance to respond
"What?!" Spider-man said "No way, we're coming to you and that's that"
Just a s Spider-man finished that statement everything around them began to explode.
The Normandy swooped by, hovering above the ground.
"Get in" Joker ordered "We've still gotta get the others"
Spider-man paused for a moment, the STG already running towards the Normandy.
"Kaidan" Spider-man said into the comms "Can the Nuke be disarmed?"
"Yeah but only by me" Kaidan grunted out, gunfire heard over t he link "Why?"
"Think you can find a high vantage point to stand?" Spider-man asked
"I guess?" Kaidan said, unsure of what he was being asked "What exactly are you planning?"
"Just hold on tight, Kaidan" Spider-man said with a fierce voice "We're gonna get you the hell outta there"
Rather than going to enter the Normandy, Spider-man stuck himself to the underbelly of the ship, right where the Mako is usually dropped.
"Joker, go"
"Peter, what the hell are you…?"
"JUST GO JOKER" Spider-man yelled in an unnaturally serious tone, making the pilot jump a bit in his seat "Our friends our waiting for us"
Not arguing with the extremely stern Spider-man, Joker piloted the ship, flying over to where Shepard, Garrus, Liara, Wrex, Tali and Ashley awaited their arrival. Everyone noticed Spider-man clinging to the bottom of the ship.
"Spider-man?" Shepard said "What hell are you doing?"
"Just trust me on this" Spider-man said "Now hurry up and get on. No man gets left behind"
With Kaidan
The lieutenant was currently struggling to get some distance from the bomb, clutching his wounded side while also firing his pistol at every Geth that ran after him.
He was heaving, barely able to stay upright.
Alenko knew what he was doing. He knew his choice. Still there was a small part of him that felt like crying.
He wasn't going to see the end of this journey. He wouldn't see the triumph that the team would have together. He wouldn't be a part of the laughs they would all share or the simple moments of just spending time together.
But he was not going down without a fight. No way in hell.
With renewed vigor, Kaidan fired more rapidly at incoming Geth who either ran at him or the Nuke. He knew that the Geth may try to override the bomb but he was completely confident that they couldn't do anything in preventing the detonation sequence. Just another few minutes.
"Guess this is it" Kaidan said "One hell of a ride"
"Hope you're ready for this one then"
Kaidan blinked before looking up with wide eyes.
The Normandy was coming at him at lightning speed.
Before he could even blink, at the last second, Spider-man dropped down from a web line and snatched the LT from his spot and with expert timing and speed, pulled up both of them through the bottom of the ship before the door closed behind them
The two landed in a collapse and Kaidan vaguely heard Shepard shout at Joker to punch it. Everyone felt the ship lurch as Joker made the Normandy go at full speed.
"Everybody hang on" Joker said and not a second to soon, the nuke goes off, violently shaking the ship.
Regardless however, they were all in the clear.
"Lieutenant Alenko" Kaidan barely heard Shepard who was standing over him with a relieved smile "You did damn good today"
"Thanks Shepard" Kaidan said with a weak smile "I think that's enough excitement for one day, don't you agree?"
"Agreed"
"Great" Spider-man said, still laying down on the ground beside him "I think I'm just gonna go sleep now. Have Wrex carry me to my bed"
"Same here"
And both promptly passed out.
Shepard glanced around and saw practically everyone was following suit. Garrus was already sleeping against the wall, while Tali, Ashley and Wrex managed to retain some strength to walk to their sleeping areas.
"Shepard" A soft melodious voice said besides him
The Spectre looked over to see Liara smiling softly and tiredly at him.
"Need an escort to your room?"
"I'd very much appreciate that, Liara" Shepard said kindly
The next day
"We owe you a great debt Shepard" Captain Kirrahe said in total honesty "Not only did you help us accomplish our mission but had it not been for your comrade, Spider-man, I'm pretty sure the rest of my men may have been slaughtered"
"You can thank him yourself personally" Shepard said "He's right over there with Garrus. If you want, I can call him over"
"No need for that" Kirrahe said "I will do it when I am done addressing my troops. Again Shepard, a million thanks to you and your team"
"Just doing what I believe in, Captain" Shepard said with a friendly smirk
Over with Garrus and Spider-man, the web head was currently out of his armor. He simply wore his new standard black suit, mask and all.
"MAN" Spider-man said stretching out feeling joints pop in relief "I thought I'd be sleeping in today but this suit must have accelerated my healing factor. Got up feeling refreshed"
Garrus just deadpanned at his friend, clearly showing exhaustion.
"Well sorry that not all of us have your healing factor"
"Somebody sounds jealous"
"At least I'm not annoying"
"That can be up for debate"
"Really, I'm pretty sure the vote would be unanimous"
"That Garrus would be the most annoying person on the ship?"
"No that Spider-man has an over inflated ego"
"That's funny coming from you mister truth and justice"
"Why is that a bad thing?"
"Believing in it, no. Parading around about it, a matter of perspective"
"That answer made no sense"
"You make no sense"
"Are your jokes getting worse?"
"Is your vision getting worse"
"BLEH"
"NYAH"
"Well, can't deny I'm glad to see you two have your stupidity still intact" Shepard, entering the war of words with a laugh
"Commander" both said before returning to making faces at one another making Shepard laugh once again.
"Man, you two are just to childish sometimes" Shepard said good heartedly "How are you two anyway?"
"Alive" Spider-man said "That should count for something"
"Yeah" Garrus sighed "Virmire was way too close of a call. Nearly lost two of our own back there. Don't like that feeling at all"
"We made it all out" Shepard said "That's what matters. Our entire team is still here, still standing and ready to take on whatever we have to do next"
"You got that right" Spider-man said confidently
"So what now then Shepard?" Garrus asked "What's our next move?"
"We'll have a meeting in comm room in a bit" Shepard said "From there, we'll plot out our next course. I've got some more visions in here that I'll need help with from Liara"
"Is that all you need help from her?" Peter teased "You've been really tense as of late Shepard"
"Yeah, maybe you should ask Liara for another escort mission back to your bedroom for a nice massage" Garrus chipped in, the two now chortling, sharing a quick high five.
"You guys are this close from being thrown out the airlock" Shepard said with a blank expression though that did little to deter the duo as they were now trading jibes at Shepards expense
"Hey peter, I heard from you humans that you've got this weird plant thingy that forces people who are under it to kiss" Garrus said
"That's a mistletoe and sadly it can only be done during Christmas" Peter said in a false sad tone
"I'm leaving" Shepard declared
"Yes Shepard" Garrus said "Please go"
"Your princess awaits you behind the medical bay, in that little crammed closet" Peter added dramatically "Oh Romeo, where for art thou Romeo?"
"I am honestly starting to regret bringing you two morons along" Shepard said "Spider-man was one thing, but you Garrus? I thought you were a respected detective"
"With a good sense of humor" Garrus said chipper and all
"You need to stop hanging out with Spider-man" Shepard pleaded, though obviously not meaning it "It's corrupting your mind and your personality Garrus, you won't be you anymore"
"Why is hanging around me such a bad thing?"
"You really don't want me to answer that" Shepard and Garrus said in unison
Spider-man deflated before doing a dramatic pose of pain against the Mako
"Oh, the pain, why is the pain so real?!"
Scene cut to the comm room meeting
"Ilos?!" Tali said in disbelief "That psychopath Saren fled to the terminus system?!"
"Wonderful" Garrus groaned "As if our mission wasn't complicated and difficult as it already is, Saren decides to further his reputation as a jackass and goes to the one place where practically everyone there is an enemy"
"The Conduit is on Ilos" Shepard said firmly "If that's where Saren is headed we need to pursue after him. We'll be there waiting for him when he gets there"
"Shepard, Saren will no doubt have his entire fleet stationed there" Liara reasoned "You will never make it down to the surface without reinforcements. We need the Council for this. We need a fleet to…whoa"
Shepard instantly shot out to grab Liara and steady her
"Easy, you look pale there Liara" Shepard said with concern
"This joining was rather straining" Liara admitted "I think I need to sit down for a moment"
Shepard helped her to her chair, then began to pace.
"We obviously can't stand around here" Spider-man said from his seat "Saren is planning his endgame. Call it a gut feeling"
"I agree with Spider-man" Wrex, voicing his opinion "The sooner we get to Ilos, the sooner that Pyjak Saren will pay for what he did to my people"
"Commander" Joker spoke through comms "There's a nearby Comm buoy. I can link us in if you want to report to the Council. You know, to warn them about Sovereign"
"Alright" Shepard spoke, silencing any further discussions "Patch it through Joker"
"We'll talk more after my report guys" Shepard said to his exiting team
As they left, Spider-man spoke to the everyone.
"What do you guys think?" He asked "Think the Council will buy it?"
"Pfft" Ashley showed a clear disdain on that thought "As if. Knowing them, those jackasses will deny the living shit out of all of this"
"So typical Bureaucratic bullshit?" Kaidan rhetorically asked
"Don't even need to say anything" Garrus huffed in annoyance
"I still can't believe them sometimes" Tali said in anger "I know they'll deny everything Shepard has on Saren and Sovereign. It makes all our fighting feel like nothing"
"God I just hope something good comes out of this" Spider-man said

Yes I know it's a bit of an abrupt ending but let me level with you here. with College, a job, writing and prepping other stories, life and with the addition of a now second job, pressure is only going to mount. I needed to get this out there as soon as possible before the shit storm begins for the next few months.
With me starting up a YouTube channel plus helping my buddies out with their own projects. My god I don't know when the next time I'll see a keyboard to write my stories. I pray to god it'll be as often as possible.
I condensed this chapter for that reason alone. This was originally 20,000 words! But it was taking to long and I got hired by a new job so I cut out A LOT of things that were meant to happen for this chapter, but I'm saving it for after Ilos
But whatever, I have it out, that's all that matters
