Chapter Twenty-Seven : Studying and Kissing
Sam sighed heavily when she heard Melanie's request. "I don't think so, Mel. Freddie has already ordered us lunch. Anyway, I gotta go," Sam said and before Melanie could utter another word, Sam had ended the call. She turned off her phone so she would receive no further calls and once again settled down with her son.
Right now she didn't want to hear Melanie go on and on about their dad and how she should forgive him. She just wasn't ready for that and wasn't sure if she'd ever be. Why did he leave in the first place? She didn't know, nor did she want to stress about it. Freddie's dad had said to avoid stress. But that wasn't easy with Pam and Melvin Puckett for parents.
XoooXooo
"Okay, I'll call her then and try to explain," Carly promised Freddie. "She has no clue right now how much Sam needs to avoid stress. She's going to freak though, once she finds out Sam's having twins... in a good way I mean."
"I'd love for Mel to be happy about it, but you're right - she has no clue right now. Alright. Thanks. I'm going to head up to be with Sam. I'll be back when food gets here," Freddie said, before he hurried upstairs.
When Freddie walked into the room, baby Fredward started kicking his legs with excitement, seeing his daddy. "Hi, Sexy Dork," Sam said when he came over to the bed. "Baby Freddie and I were just talking about you."
"So, will lunch be here soon? I'm freakin starved," Sam said as she propped herself up on the pillows. "Speaking of food, my sister called... wanting me to go out to lunch with her, my mom, and my dad."
"I told her 'no way'. I'd rather have my nipples chewed off by wild dogs..." Sam added.
XoooXooo
Carly was downtairs on the phone with Sam's twin sister. "Melanie, there's something important you need to know," Carly began. "It's about Sam."
"What about Sam?" Melanie asked, still hurt because Sam had hung up on her earlier during their conversation.
"Melanie, are you sitting down?" Carly asked.
"Huh? Sitting down? Why should I be sitting down?" Melanie asked, starting to get worried. "What's going on... what's wrong with Sam?"
"Freddie took her to the doctor this morning... and she's pregnant..." Carly revealed.
"What?!" Melanie gasped. "OMG! Again?! Sam was right ::: Freddie IS an animal!"
"Melanie, that isn't all..." Carly said, hearing Melanie's super freaked-out reaction to the news.
"Ohhh God, Carly, what else?" Melanie asked with a sigh.
"Sam's having twins," was Carly's reply.
XoooXooo
Freddie sighed. "I just told Carly to tell Mel to lay off you and that you don't need the stress. I guess I was too late. I'm sorry. Lunch will be here soon," he promised as he took a seat beside Sam. "How are you feeling, babe? You know that if I can do anything for you, I will."
When Freddie joined her and the baby on the bed, Sam reached out and lightly caressed his cheek while gazing into his eyes. "I'm feeling fine. No fainting... no puking..." Sam said, giving him a little smile. "Look at it this way, if I have to stay in bed the next two weeks or so, there will be plenty of time for me to study for the next GED test, and you can help me study when you can. And look, Baby Fredward loves all the attention." She leaned down, giving the baby boy a soft kiss on his little cheek.
"About Mel," Sam said with a sigh. "She's just... being Mel. She doesn't realize she's stressing me out..."
"She just wants things to be as they used to be, with me, her and Dad. But that's not going to happen," Sam spoke, shaking her head. "I'm glad Carly's talking to her though. I hope that goes well."
"I know she is, that's why I asked Carly to talk to her, because then maybe she would understand that it's important right now not to stress you out," Freddie spoke with a smile. "Ohhh yeah - I will make sure that you study. It'll work out just fine."
"Okay, Carly loaned me some textbooks, so maybe right after lunch, we can get started," Sam replied as she continued to snuggle with Baby Freddie who cooed happily and kicked his little legs.
XoooXooo
"Twins?" gasped Melanie. "Sam's having twins?"
"Uh-huh. And that's why she fainted last night. It was such a shock seeing your dad. So please, Melanie, we all gotta keep Sam away from stress. The doctor says she needs to relax and take it easy," Carly explained.
"Uhhh... yeah... okay..." replied Melanie, still in a state of shock. It was unbelievable - her twin was expecting twins herself. Melanie wanted to congratulate Sam and Freddie, but after that phone call, Sam probably wasn't speaking to her now.
Melanie promised she would do everything in her power to not stress out Sam and also said she would talk to Pam and Melvin, asking them to lay off for awhile. "Thanks, Mel. Talk to you later," spoke Carly, ending the call. She then turned her attention onto Gibby.
"Want to play Wintendo?" she asked.
"Sure," he said with a smile.
XoooXooo
Downstairs, lunch had arrived as the doorbell sounded. The delivery guy was standing at the door.
"Sure, after lunch would be great," Freddie said and watched Little Freddie with Sam. He would never get tired of watching his perfect little family.
Sam was looking forward to study time with Freddie and just being alone with him for a few hours before he left for work. She kissed her little boy on the cheek as Freddie headed downstairs to get the food when the doorbell rang. "Time to go back to your crib," she told the three month old.
She got out of bed carefully, placing Baby Fredward into his crib. She wound up his mobile. The baby watched in fascination as the little Galaxy Wars characters began moving in a circular motion above his head. Sam grinned as it had been Freddie's idea to buy the mobile for their baby. "I can see you take after Daddy," Sam said fondly to her son.
XoooXooo
Freddie had gone downstairs to answer the door and pay for the food. He left a bag of food with Gibby and Carly. Then he headed upstairs to have lunch with Sam.
He smiled as he saw Sam with Baby Freddie. He noticed that his son was watching his mobile.
When Freddie returned, Sam gave him a grin. "He totally loves the mobile you got him," Sam said as she walked back over to sit on the edge of the bed.
The scent of the food made her feel ravenous. "What did you get us to eat?" she asked, her stomach suddenly growling with hunger. She really was starved and hoped she could keep the food down once she had eaten it.
"I got all your favorites," he said with a smile, handing her the bag of food.
He then looked over at baby Freddie. "I'm glad he likes the mobile; I was afraid we may have to get Robin's Weiner's and hang them from the ceiling for him," he teased. "Or meatballs or something."
Sam happily took the bag of food from Freddie, peeking inside. It was food from Float My Rib, one of Sam's favorite barbeque places. She got excited, seeing her favorite meatballs in one of the take-out boxes. "Ohhh yummy, meatballs! I love ya, Freddie!" she said with excitement.
She was just about to start munching on her meat feast of meatballs and barbequed ribs when she thought about what Freddie had said. "No, Fredifer, if we have a little girl like me, that's what she's gonna want on her mobile - meatballs and Robin's Weiners," she teased. "You wanted a daughter sooo much last time... this time you might just get TWO."
Freddie's face went white. "OH NO. No no no," he said, shaking his head. "You plus two more like you. One needs to be different for the sake of my sanity. Although if we find out if it's girls or a girl and a boy we should probably go ahead and design that meat mobile."
Sam had a huge meatball covered in sauce halfway to her lips when she heard Freddie's words. "Fredward, are you saying you can't handle a daughter like me?" she asked her blue eyes flashing with mock hurt/anger. "And you know, maybe one of the babies might be a combination of the both of us. That would be interesting. A child with your amazing tech skills and my love for ham." Sam laughed at that thought. "Ohhh man... I just thought of something, what if one of the babies turns out like Melanie? All girly and perfect?"
Freddie couldn't help but chuckle. "What I'm saying is that you will keep me busy, my dear. Hmm... ham and tech? As long as we don't find pieces of ham sitting on top of the computer or inside the dvd player."
"How did Melanie get into the equation?" he asked with a chuckle. "I wouldn't love a child that was like you any less. Would you love one less just because she was too girly?"
"Trust me, if our kid loves ham as much as I do, you won't find any lying on the computer or in the DVD player. And as for Melanie, you know I love her. She just annoys the chiz out of me. With all her perfectness and her sickening sweetness. Considering she's my twin, it's possible one of our twins could end up like her," Sam pointed out, in between bites of her giant meatball. "And Carly is a great deal like Mel, as you know, just not as extreme, and she's my best friend. No matter if the babies are boys or girls, one of each, and no matter who they turn out like, I'm gonna love 'em, cuz they are ours."
"Yeah, but I think our best chances are one like you and one like me OR one like the both of us. but I have a feeling there will definitely be one like you and if we get one like Mel; well then history has repeated itself. Because the Puckett twins are unique. So the Benson twins will be trying to compete."
"I have a feeling these twins will be unique in their own way as well."
Sam had just finished with the huge meatball and was now reaching for the container of barbecued ribs next. "Mmmm..." she said as she sampled the delicious meat product. "This is fabulous, Fredward. You really gotta have some." She handed him a piece of pork which was dripping with sauce. She had a mischievous grin on her face as she raised the meat to his lips.
Freddie smiled. "Okay," he said, wondering what she was up to as he went to take some of the meat into his mouth.
Sam's eyes were on Freddie's mouth as he was eating the meat from the rib she had offered him. Barbeque sauce clung to his lips. Eating ribs was messy, but Sam didn't mind. *I'm so gonna lick the sauce off him later,* she was thinking with smirk. After Freddie had gotten a few bites of the barbequed rib meat, she offered him a bite of a meatball. She found feeding him to be flirty and fun.
Freddie enjoyed being fed by Sam as he took a bite of the meatball she was offering him. He was sure his mouth was looking messy though, but right now he didn't care; he could probably kiss Sam while covered in barbeque sauce and she'd love it.
After they had finished all the ribs and meatballs, Sam reached for Freddie, pulling him to her for a long, delicious kiss. She was licking his lips, getting every drop of the sauce off his mouth. "You are so tasty," she said after the sauce-filled kiss. "Sexy Fredward." Sam gave him one last kiss, then pouted a little because it was now time to start their little study session. Kissing was definitely more fun than studying. She groaned, reaching for the heavy textbooks Carly had let her borrow. English, Algebra, Biology, and American History were among the titles.
"You can play after we study," he promised, seeing her disappointed look. He had enjoyed that kiss though; she was always so good at that - kissing that is.
"Okay, I will make a deal with you, Fredifer. You're going to love this just as much as I do... and it's gonna help me study and do well on the GED test," said Sam as she began bargaining with him. "For every question you ask me, if I get it right, I get a kiss." She had a smirk on her face, because this way, for once, studying would be fun.
Freddie laughed. "Okay...but only if you take this seriously. I mean it. No just tossing the books aside and taking the kisses," he warned.
"I promise. I'll be good. I'll study. Just so long as you kiss me every time I get the answer right," replied Sam as she got comfy against the pillows of the bed, relaxing as she waited for Freddie to begin tutoring her. This was going to be so much fun. She couldn't stop grinning.
"Okay," Freddie said and grabbed a book, starting with English. He began to teach Sam. He wanted to be sure she understood all of the material required for her GED test.
Sam listened to everything Freddie was saying, absorbing the information. She found his tutelage so much more enjoyable than that of Miss Briggs, Mr. Howard, or any of their other boring teachers they'd had while in school at Ridgeway. After a couple of chapters, she felt she had taken in a great deal of the material he had presented. She was ready for Freddie to quiz her on what she had learned.
Freddie flipped through the book until he found the quiz portion. He asked her a random question from the ones that the book had to offer. Sam thought for a moment before giving her answers. With every question he asked, she answered correctly. "Mama wants her kiss," she said, leaning slowly toward Freddie. Freddie obliged, brushing his lips against hers in a kiss.
"Pretty good, Fredward," Sam said after the soft, tender kiss. "But as we go on and I get more and more questions right, I expect the kisses to get longer... and hotter." She got ready for more of Freddie's excellent tutelage. She had learned more in the last few minutes with Freddie than she had learned in weeks while in school.
Freddie laughed. "Just be sure to keep answering those questions," he said as he found another one to ask.
Sam continued to listen to Freddie as he spoke, teaching her what she needed to know in order to pass the GED exam. She answered all of his questions precisely, until he got to the ones that were math related. Despite her efforts, Sam began missing a few. She pouted, because Algebra wasn't her greatest subject. "Enough for today," she said to Freddie. "You should get ready for work. And Momma needs a nap." She fluffed her pillow and got ready to lie back down.
Freddie kissed Sam softly. "Alright. You get some rest; I need to shower and get ready." He got up to go take his shower. It was almost time for work.
Sam fell asleep almost instantly when Freddie left the room for his shower. She was so sleepy. She only woke up a while later, because baby Freddie had awakened to be fed. She got up and fed the baby, then crawled back into bed. She was completely exhausted from so much studying.
