Silent Hill: Forgotten Sister

Chapter 4: Lisa Garland

2:49 P.M.

It was almost three o' clock and I had to clock in for work in a few minutes. Jeff and I spent a lot of time at the pizza place grubbing out like nothing. But before I went to work, I asked Jeff to stop at a gas station so I can get a couple of energy drinks. Tonight is going to be a long night, I thought.

I was in line at the gas station, holding my strawberry and cherry flavored drinks, waiting behind a biker dude who was paying for his gas. As I was waiting for the biker dude to do his business with the cashier, I noticed behind him were the lost child posters which were really old and unreadable. I noticed Elle and Nora's older sister, Diane, was on there. Well damn, I thought. They're still looking for her? It's been nine years since she went missing. It was the most saddest thing ever to be honest. Elle told me that she just woke up one day and Diane was gone. Their family did a search party but never found her. I don't want to sound like an ass or anything but she's probably dead. Eventually the Holloways have to face the truth. Then again they can find her if they try real hard but I dou-

"Hello?!" the red haired ginger said in annoyance as he broke my train of thought. "Are you ready to pay, sir?"

"Crap!" I said. "I'm so sorry, I spaced out about the missing child posters."

I placed both of my drinks on the counter and took my wallet out.

"Is this it for you?" asked the ginger.

I nodded.

"Your total is three dollars and five cents," informed the cashier.

I handed him a five dollar bill. As I waited for my change, I decided to bring up the posters.

"Those posters are pretty old and unreadable," I stated. Have you consider taking them down?"

"Nope," replied the blonde cashier. "It's illegal to take those down even though they're old and unreadable. Plus, people who lost their kids would be annoyed and it's pretty disrespectful. They're trying really hard to find their kids."

"Oh," I said. "That's cool of you. Thank you."

I grabbed my drinks and headed towards the door but before I can exit, the ginger cashier called out.

"Wouldn't you be annoyed if someone took down your sister's lost child poster?" questioned the cashier.

I sighed and rolled my eyes.

"Are you on crack or something?" I asked. "I don't have a sister. I have a brother!"

It went quiet for a moment and the cashier stared at me like I was fucking stupid.

"Dude," he finally spoke out. "That's pretty cold."

I gave the guy a stupid look.

"Whatever," I said. "Enjoy the rest of your day."

I left the store and entered Jeff's truck, a 2003 Chevy truck. This isn't new, I thought. Locals or elders would bring up this 'sister' that all of a sudden that is in my family. I think they are confused with Josh's gender. After all he does have long hair that makes him look like a girl and he hasn't gone through puberty yet. When Joshua grows up, he is going to be a man's man. No doubt about it.

Anyways, why would that cashier fucker bring up 'my sister'? Was he trying to prove a point or something? Why couldn't he just say Josh if he thought he was girl? Anyways, even if I did have a sister, why would she go missing in the first place? Why would Josh go missing in the first place?

I opened the strawberry energy drink and began to chug it.

"Whoa Nelly!" commented Jeff. "Slow down there or else you'll get sick."

I know it's unhealthy but I really need it.

"Sorry," I said. "I am tired and I really really need it."

"You're gonna throw up," informed my green eyed friend.

"Meh," I said. "At least I'll be up and ready to go."

"Whatever you say," commented Jeff.

. . .

3:02 p.m.

Jeff and I arrived at work. As soon as he parked, I quickly darted inside the store because I was a couple minutes late. I know it's not that bad but my boss is strict about being late. I'll explain myself to him later.

Jeff didn't want to go home because he wanted to surprise Randy and talk to him about his Canadian trip. On our way he here, I told Jeff not to scare Randy or else he'll be giving him a heart attack. Will Jeff ignore me? Yes. Will he regret it afterwards? One hundred and fifty percent yes.

Anyways, Randolph's Market & Bakery is the name of the store where I work at. It's a pretty big decent super market and bakery that is four blocks away from my house. It's popular but not very popular at the same time. I've been working here for about almost a year and the owner, Randy (Randolph) is a very cool guy. He is a really great friend of my parents and his wife, Meredith, her baking is so yummy! Overall, I get paid all right, like six to seven bucks an hours. I work Monday through Thursdays and I kind of get Fridays and Saturdays off. On those days, I am a waiter at a sports bar. My real day off is Sundays because it's Holy day and Sundays are the days to relax the most. I know I don't have days off and I have a lot of work, really, but I need the money real bad so I can leave Shepherd's Glen and start fresh. But I haven't been saving the money because I have been buying a lot of weed and new clothes or shoes.

I was in the locker area putting on my blue apron and my name tag. After that, I clocked in and I was late. It would have been best to clock in first but meh! I am a dummy. But most of the time, I would screw around but that is because I get here like ten minutes early.

I left the locker area. As I made my way out, I noticed Randy sweeping the bread aisle.

"Good afternoon sir," I greeted. "I'll take that."

I grabbed the broom from Randy and began to sweep for him.

"Hello Alex," greeted Randy. "You didn't have to help me, I got it."

"No no," I said. "I'll sweep for you. After all, some workers will be on cashier today."

I like doing work for Randy because he is cool about it and in my opinion, this man needs a break. Randy is such a hard worker.

"Thank you," commented the store owner.

A/N: Randy Griffin is a fifty year old man with grey hair and hazel brown eyes. He has light skin and he is shorter than Alex and Jeff due to his age. He wears khaki pants with a white long sleeved shirt with a royal blue sweater vest and black shoes. Randy wears the market's blue apron over his clothes. Randy used to fight in war alongside Adam and retired the same year. Mr. Griffin opened a super market here in Shepherd's Glen two year after the war with his wife Meredith. Randy is a very nice man yet he can be strict towards others when they don't listen, especially Jeff.

Jeff worked here for a long time ever since his sophomore year of high school and Randy sees him as his own son. Heck, my best friend begged Randy to let me work here. I am thankful for that to be honest.

"Well I better go take over the cashier and have the other workers help me with the boxes in the back," said Randy. "When you're done, can you help the others with the boxes and stock the shelves?"

"Yes sir," I said. "Oh and by the way, did you see Jeff?"

"He's back?" questioned the old man.

"Ooops," I said as I quickly turned. "Just pretend I didn't say that."

Randy chuckled.

"Alright, alright," he said. "I'll catch you later."

. . .

After I had finished sweeping, I was in the the cereal aisle stacking boxes along with Jeff. Even though he did not work today, I made him stay with me because I did not want to be alone. Plus, he is my ride home, he'll forget about me, and I have to check out that stupid room for him. Anyways, I don't mind my other coworkers but Jeff is my best friend and he brings me life. The others can be too serious sometimes.

"Thanks for ruining the surprise ya dick!" informed my green eyed best friend.

"I'm sorry," I chuckled. "I thought you saw him while I was in the back getting ready."

"No," scoffed Jeff. "I was getting ready to surprise him."

"Did he die?" I asked.

"No but he liked the gift I brought him," replied Jeff.

"Oh yea? What'd you get him?" I asked as I stocked up some cereal boxes.

"This little maple syrup leaf with his name carved in it," replied my green eyed friend.

"Aww, how cute!" I commented.

"I was going to bring your gift earlier but it'd be best to show you at my apartment," informed Jeff.

"Yea? Did you get me a maple syrup bracelet with my name on it?" I joked.

"Haha no!" replied Jeff. "I got that for Elle but I will give you a hint. It is maple syrup flavored."

I stopped what I was doing and thought about it. Suddenly, a big grin formed on my face.

"Aww yea!" I said out loud.

I high fived Jeff.

"This weekend?" he asked.

"I'll try to call off at the bar," I replied.

"Aw yea!" yelled Jeff as he high fived me.

"If I call off this weekend is-

"Whoa! Oh! OH!" cried out Jeff as he interrupted me. "Hottie nurse coming our way."

My green eyed friend quickly got up and ditched me for this 'nurse.'

"What?" I asked confused.

I looked where Jeff was walking to. He was right, there was a beautiful nurse walking down the cereal aisle. She is a tall blonde with light skin that went with her beautiful teal eyes. She wore a short white nurse's dress with a red cardigan. To match her outfit is red pumps and she had a green sash around her right muscle and a green name tag on her dress pocket. I'm not going to lie but she is the most beautiful thing to exist.

I watched as Jeff tried to make small talk with the blonde nurse. Prepare to watch Jeff fail, I thought. In other words, watch me embarrass the living crap out of him.

I got up, dusted myself and made my way over to the couple. This chick is beyond beautiful, I thought. Then there is Jeff. Haha!

"Aye! Good afternoon Jeffery, lovely nurse," I greeted.

The nurse smiled.

"Hi," she greeted in a soft sweet voice.

"So I noticed you two talking," I stated.

"Not now Alex," said Jeff. "I'm busy."

"It's okay," I said as I pulled Jeff to the side. "I got this. I'm going to make your dream come true."

"Wha- I don't trust you," stated my green eyed friend.

I faced the blonde nurse.

"Lovely nurse," I said. "My friend Jeff is the perfect guy and when I mean perfect, he is lazy and beyond strange. I do all of his work for him."

"What?!" yelled Jeff.

The girl snickered.

"T-that is not true," argued Jeff. "Go away Alex!"

I looked at the girl's name tag, Lisa G. Nurse Assistant.

"How about this Lisa?" I suggested. "Do you want to go out with a man who is a total douche bag who makes his best friend do all of his work and scratches his sack in public?"

I could of mentioned Jeff was a womanizer but I am not going to stoop that low.

"I guess so," chuckled Lisa. "He sounds like a perfect man."

"Right!" I agreed.

Jeff pushed me to the side.

"I'm sorry cutie, but I must go," Jeff said embarrassingly to Lisa. "ALEX YOU'RE DEAD!"

I ran away laughing like a maniac while Jeff was chasing after me around the store.

. . .

Jeff was sitting in a chair that was by the door, pouting like a baby and ignoring me, while I was sweeping the front entrance. Randy was leaning on the wall, giving the both of us a lecture.

"You two are grown men fighting over a girl?" questioned the old man. "What? You two are not in high school anymore."

"Yeah I thought she was cute but I wasn't fighting over her," I informed.

"Liar!" yelled Jeff.

I rolled my eyes.

"I just did it to embarrass Jeffrey," I confessed. "He embarrasses me a lot. Why not embarrass him back? It was a perfect moment for me."

Randy sighed.

"You two are too much," stated Randy walking away. "Apologize and get back to work."

"I'm pretty sure if Elle saw that, she would be mad at you Alex," Jeff said with attitude.

"Why?" I asked. "She doesn't care if I have a girlfriend."

"Aren't you guys a thing?" asked Jeff not facing me.

"No," I quickly said. "We're just best friends. On the plus side, she's seeing this one guy."

"That's why it's called friends with benefits," scoffed Jeff.

I rolled my eyes.

"Jeffery Thomas Payne," I said out loud. "I am sorry for ruining your date with a hot nurse. Oh will you ever forgive me?!"

My green eyed friend turned around.

"If you ever see that nurse again, tell her the truth," stated Jeff. "I forgive you unless you let me scratch my sack in front of you."

I opened my arms for a hug. Jeffrey got up and attacked me with a hug. Suddenly some random cute girl with a black braid came in.

"Oh hi cutie!" said Jeff leaving me for the girl.

The girl smiled.

"Well then Jeff," I said. "Fuck you too."

As Jeff left me, I noticed Lisa was finishing up her payment at one of the registers. She grabbed her bags and made her way towards the exit. Before she left, I had to apologize to her.

"Hey Lisa!" I called out. "Wait up!"

The blonde nurse stopped and faced me.

"Can we talk for a moment?" I asked.

"Umm, I don't know," replied Lisa. "I have to get back to work as soon as possible."

"Oh," I said sadly. "Well, is it all right if I walk you to your car. This is very important."

"If you help me with these groceries," giggled the blonde nurse.

"Sure, why not," I said as I grabbed the bags from Lisa.

The both of us exited the store and I followed the blonde nurse to her car.

"What is it that you need to talk to me about?" asked Lisa.

"First of all, I am really sorry about my friend," I said. "What I said about him was rude and disrespectful even though it's true. But still, I apologize for that. I only did it because he embarrasses me a lot."

The blonde nurse chuckled.

"It's okay," said Lisa. "My friends and I do that to each other sometimes. Friends are friends, ya know?"

"Great," I said. "Well not great for you, great as in someone who agrees with me…in a way."

Lisa smiled.

"You know what Alex," said the blonde haired nurse. "You're an all right guy, I like you. Though, you remind me so much of your sister though and I wouldn't really consider it to be a good thing."

I stopped walking. Sister? I thought. Ahh hell nah! Not her too! What the hell is wrong with people?!

"Hey!" called out the blonde nurse. "Why'd you stop? We're almost to the car."

Lisa pointed at a 2009 silver Pontiac g6.

"No no no!" I said annoyed as I began to walk towards Lisa. "I don't have a sister. You're literally the second person to tell me that today."

"Umm okay?" the blonde nurse said confused.

I finally realized that I was an ass to Lisa by giving her attitude. She didn't do anything bad to me. Fuck!

"Look," I said. "I'm sorry for being an ass. It's just, I have no sister and only a little brother. Like seriously, I don't understand why people would bring that subject up."

Lisa and I went behind the Pontiac to throw the groceries in the trunk.

"Oh," she said confused. "I could have sworn you have a sister. "It's just that there is this girl in the hospital, she has the same eye color as you and for some reason, you remind me so much of her."

"No I don't have a sister," I said again.

"Umm ok," said Lisa. "It was nice talking to you. I hope to see you again someday."

"Yeah," I said. "We should hang out sometime, coffee maybe?"

"I'd like that," said the blonde nurse.

I closed the trunk for Lisa. Before she got in her car, she took a note pad out of her purse and quickly scribbled on it. She tore the paper out and entered her car. I looked at the paper and she gave me her phone number and a winky face. Hehe. ;)

As soon as the blonde nurse left, I waved goodbye and went back inside the store. Anyways, back to the sister thing. Just because someone has the same eye color and reminds you of someone does not make me related to them. I think that is the weirdest thing ever. I wanted to tell Lisa that but she is too sweet and I've already been as ass to her. Poor girl.
