Invitation
The talks had gone peacefully enough: Pitch and Tooth came to an understanding that he wouldn't try to encase the world in darkness as long as she and the other Guardians stopped being so paranoid about him and his every move.
It was easier said than done.
But little by little, the Queen of Childhood Memories and the King of Nightmares became accustomed to being around each other. She snapped less often, he was more courteous to her. Spending time with Toothiana, however, definitely beat pandering to the other delegation who were only here after Pitch had secured himself as powerful.
He never liked kissups.
But Tooth? She would fight him tooth and nail if she believed for even a second that what he was doing was wrong, which seemed to happen more often than not.
This time was no different.
"This Ball is unnecessary," she complained, scowling at Pitch after she had cornered him in his own library.
"I totally agree," he replied without looking up from the stack of papers he was closely examining, taking a moment to finally look up over his reading glasses to pin her with his gaze. "But when every other dignitary insists upon entertainment, I'm not going to make any of my citizens degrade themselves to keep other kingdoms happy." He turned back to his paperwork. "But if you have a better activity that doesn't force me to interact with the majority of those visiting, then by all means, enlighten me." He could almost hear the pout in her voice.
"No. . ." Pitch heard the flutter of her wings get closer, but she seemed to be hesitating.
"May I be your escort to the ball?" he suddenly asked her. His eyes shot up to hers and he smirked, making her fluff up. His reasoning for asking her? She was familiar to him, and it beat having to deal with someone who only wanted him for his kingdom.
Plus, Toothiana was cute when she fluffed up in rage.
Fully irritated now, the fairy Queen spun around and made for the door.
"Is that a yes?" he called after her. Tooth hesitated, her wings fluttering softly.
"No!"
"Well then, is that a no?" he then asked, leaning back in his chair to gaze at her back. Her hesitance was more noticeable this time.
". . .no." Pitch grinned.
"I'll pick you up at 8," he replied, grinning wider. He knew she heard him. Tooth's shoulders seemed to hunch, he noticed, in a wince before she disappeared from sight.
Pitch turned back to his paperwork and managed to read through another sheet before he paused, his eyes widening in shock. Did he just ask Tooth out on a date? The king gave a little groan, dropping his head down into his hands. Oh lune, North and Bunny were going to kill him.
A/N: Oh Ra, I have no clue what I was doing here, haha. Hope you enjoyed. Also, kudos if you get the reference. :3
A/N2: (7/23/18) So I'm beginning to merge the same universe one-shots together, just to help me keep them all straight. And I figured it will help clean up my profile as well LOL
As always, fave, follow, and review! Until next time, my Lovelies.
