Firstly, I wanted to apologise for what ended up happening to this story. Whilst writing Esther's tale, things just became very overwhelming where my personal life was concerned - namely my mental state, and also the stresses of exams. I'm now in a much better place, but it definitely effected what happened where writing was concerned; which is why I've been more prone to oneshots in more recent years, as I tend to find they just end up in a better state. I still apologise for this story being abandoned, and it largely came from episodes of writers block, as well as general uncertainty about my own life and where I was going in the future.
This story ended up being planned out poorly - namely I didn't do any planning at the time - and looking back, I just had no structure; which really shows when I re-read it through. I had an ending planned out (which I won't spoil!), but the route I was taking to get there just harmed my pathos, and really, it shows throughout. I introduced my villains, then had them vanish off into thin air, and in the meantime, I was introducing character after character, and somehow expecting the reader to keep up, when I barely could myself! I had a lot of ideas, and at the time of initially writing A Thousand Screams in the Dark, I couldn't let them naturally disperse. I just added in new concepts and thought processes, with little comprehension for what actually mattered.
Esther's training for example, ended up being nonexistent, as I just wanted to introduce more ideas. How as she supposed to control her abilities with no tutoring? I definitely wasn't considering that back in the day, and it painfully shows now! Whilst I love the characters I created - and the ideas I tried - I was pretty much winging the whole story, and it had a poor result eventually, as things just became confused and convoluted.
With my new writing back on track, and as such, I've decided I'm going to rewrite Esther's story, and post it on here, as well as on my AO3 account (psychedelicbubblegum - if anyone's interested in checking me out over there ;))! I've already got the first two chapters sorted, and am working my way into the third. Updates shall be somewhat sporadic as I'm co-writing a Harry Potter fanfic with my good friend, which has become somewhat precedent, simply because it's more thoroughly planned out!
Esther shall return soon though, and I just wanted to thank everyone who read, followed and favorited! You really helped boost my confidence as a writer, and without you, I probably would've given up posting.
Many thanks
