A/N: Here's another chapter for a victor you're hopefully familiar with :)

For those of you unfamiliar with my interpretation of Johanna's character, her story is told in more detail in my story Mentor, and continues to be told intermittently in its sequel Fight or Flight.

But enough from me. I hope you enjoy the chapter :)

There are certain years that, even though the generations who lived through it have grown old and can barely remember any of the year's events, they remember where they were when that year's Hunger Games were decided. Like the previous Quarter Quells and a select group of maybe six or seven other Hunger Games, I am certain that the 67th Hunger Games that introduced us to Johanna Mason will remain in our memories forever.

But Johanna was never the centre of attention. Eight years ago, during one of the hottest summers in decades, all of the attention was on District 4, and which tribute they were going to produce to fight for the crown that year. Having won the previous two Hunger Games and been at the start of a period of dominance for the district (in the last ten years, a tribute from District 4 has reached the final two seven times, with five wins in total), all eyes were firmly locked on recent victors Finnick Odair and Ludo Robertson, along with their district's latest prodigy, Alec Flood.

Come the beginning of the Games, barely anyone remembers Johanna of District 7, a timid, frightened girl who scored a four in training and looked like she could barely defeat a five-year-old in a fight. Who would care when the traditional alliances have fallen apart before the first day is over, and the tributes of Districts 1, 2 and 4 have all gone their own ways to fight through the arena on their own?

A week later, and they all cared. The timid girl the audience saw at the reaping was gone, replaced by a hardened warrior with unparalleled resourcefulness and an unnatural determination to win at all costs. She'd had us fooled all along. The real Johanna Mason was abrasive, volatile, and most definitely lethal. Another few days, and with the support of the whole Capitol cheering her on, Johanna defied the odds to defeat the tributes of District 4 and claim victory in the 67th Annual Hunger Games using one of the most inventive strategies the Games have ever seen.

Loved by all in the Capitol, Johanna has been a regular in the Capitol since her victory, returning every summer to mentor the female tribute of District 7, although her successes in the Games have been limited as a mentor. In the remainder of the year, she lives a quiet life alone in District 7, the last survivor of her family line. Despite having many takers both in her district and here in the Capitol, Johanna prefers the solitude of Victor's Village. Only Blight, her mentor in the Games and District 7's second (and final) living victor, can claim to speak to her on a day-to-day basis.

Now forced back to the Capitol as District 7's only living female victor, Johanna Mason has no choice but to fight for her survival once again. But having overcome such incredible odds in her first Games, can Johanna possibly hope to repeat the miracle? You can only ever have the element of surprise once; the secret is out now.

Still, you can be sure that she's going to come out fighting once again, and you can expect fireworks at every turn. If we've learnt anything these past eight years, it's that as far as Johanna Mason is concerned, anything and everything will happen.

A/N: Hopefully you all thought that chapter was OK... Being a major character in the Quell, I'd be interested to hear what you make of her profile, so please feel free to leave a review! As ever, constructive criticism is welcomed :)
