A/N: Thanks to the guest for reviewing! It's inspiring to see that there's still interest in this story despite my long absence.

Concerning my absence, now that I'm back, I'm aiming for daily updates (4-5 days a week at the minimum) until this story is completed. With my current plan containing roughly 50 chapters, that means this story will hopefully be finished around the end of August.

With that said, I hope that you all enjoy reading today's chapter :)

Tribute: Gloss Adlington

Mentoring Record: 1 Games/0 Victors

Unlike many victors, Johan Hurst has the rare distinction of first being introduced to the Capitol public on interview night rather than at the reaping. We never saw him that day, but Johan was first put into our minds during the interview of Robin Hurst, his older brother, the male tribute for District 1 in the 66th Annual Hunger Games.

Robin's story was engaging but not remarkable; one of the favourites throughout the early running in the Games, he eventually met his downfall at the hands of Brutus' son, Quintus Cato. Following the Games, Robin was bound to be remembered as one of many might-have-beens dotted throughout the history of the Games. In later years, Johan has admitted that a desire to make everyone remember his brother's legacy was one of the reasons he chose to volunteer for the 68th Games.

After all, it was Robin who first showed Johan how to use a bow, and we haven't seen many archers like him. In recent years, only Katniss Everdeen could hold a candle to Johan.

The 68th Games were remarkable for an unusual reason; most years we are treated with the tension of a pack hunting down a stealthy foe, the spectacle of a duel with swords, the suspense as the final tributes are driven together. In Johan's year, the biggest moment was the shock factor of the Cornucopia bloodbath on day one. What else would you expect in an arena with no cover when the first person to reach the Cornucopia is a gifted archer?

The rest, as they say, is history. Johan tore through the rest of the major threats before they could get their hands on a weapon, and wound up with thirteen kills during an incredibly frantic five days - the second highest total of any tribute in the history of the Games.

Following Johan's Games, Gloss' back-to-back victories as a mentor with first Johan and then Bronze Bradley have given the gifted assassin an almost permanent spot on District 1's mentoring team, meaning that we've seen less of Johan in the years following his victory than we may have expected. His talent - carpentry - has shown us glimpses of his life back in District 1, while in the Capitol Johan often appears quiet, thoughtful and alone.

In this year's Quarter Quell, Johan finds himself in the strange situation where he has swapped roles with the man who mentored him through the arena, Gloss Adlington. He's not the only victor to find himself in this situation this year, but with Ruby's expertise alongside him, District 1 is sure to be a real force in this year's Games.

As the arena looms overhead, Johan is surely asking himself one question: can he repay his mentor's favour, and guide him out of the arena alive?

A/N: If you enjoyed this chapter, please review!

I hope to be back tomorrow with another profile, this time for a mentor from District 2 :)
