Kagome's eyes opened. Her vision was blurry. She tried to sit up but a spell of dizziness caused her to fall back onto her pillow. She was...at home? But how? What had just happened? How could she be here? What was going on? She didn't know anything anymore. Dizziness washed over her again and tears began to flow from her eyes. Why hadn't he been there? Where did he go? He had been with her. There was no other way she would have been able to beat the jewel! What had happened then? All she could remember was the darkness... The fear and sorrow overwhelmed her and she felt as if she could feel the oppressive darkness clamping her down again. She gasped as she struggled for air but managed to sit up and breathe calmly, her tears slowing into non-exisistance. She needed to go to the well. She needed to find him. She stood up and found herself to still be fully dressed so she put on her slippers ad climbed out of her bedroom window. The night air was cool and pleasantly refreshing after being the hot bedroom, though it made her wonder just how long she had been sleeping for. Hadn't it been just before midday when that all happened? The worries burdening her mind, she crept closer to the old well a sense of fear and anxiety rising in her. She paused as she reached the door. What was this feeling? Why didn't she want to go? She knew she had to find him so why couldn't she go? She felt the tears coming and she turned and ran to sit under the great tree. She fell against the familiar bark and put her head on her knees, letting the tears fall. What was this? Why wasn't he here? He was with her then, so why wasn't he now? These questions buzzed through her mind like annoying little midges as she sat weeping underneath the great tree. Kagome sat like this, crying until she couldn't cry anymore. Only then did she look up at the tree. Up, up at the high place where the scar of the arrow that once pierced the hanyou and held him onto the bark had been stuck. Where that scar still remained thousands of years on. Where that same scar had now disappeared. the growing feeling of dread that had been lurking in the pit of her stomach now made her heart leap into her throat. What was this? Everything else she was only just starting to wrap her head around and now this! She stood up swiftly, in one smooth motion she was kneeling back down where she had just been sat and examining the un-scathed bark. What was this? The names that had once been engraved there: Shippou, Sango, Miroku, Kagome and Inuyasha. Gone. Tears stung her eyes again and she ran down the steps, out of the shrine and onto the street. What was going on? WHAT WAS THIS? Her head spun and she fell down onto her knees, the last thing she saw before losing conciousness being the grey concrete floor of the pavement.
